Yelp
BJ's brewhouse is all about comfort food. If you are expecting top of the line meat of this kind or that, or a dining experience matching that of a four star place, you will be bummed. For the BJB, as I call it, it's a step above a Chili's and similar fare.
Is it cheap? Heck, no. It is, though, in a challenge to find, if you are coming down Oracle and paying attention to Google for directions ( I don't recommend this).
We went to BJB because I was craving deep dish pizza, and it is easy to get changes made without them charging you. Now, if you go to a BJB in So Cal, the extra fee awaits, it didn't here.
We opened up with Sriracha dry rub boneless chicken wings. I've never done a dry rub with wings, but I was surprised how good it turned out to be. It was a crunchy batter, and all white meat on the inside. I chose both blue cheese and ranch.
The main was deep dish pizza, the veggie one. I can't have dairy, so the cheese was removed. We kept the marinara and the pizza wasn't drowning in the sauce, which I'm glad. We wanted only half of the pie to have olives, but for that side and all of the pie to have the other veggies across the board. BJB failed on that by having olives and 95% of the rest of the veggies on one side. We just moved some over. Oh, I added pineapple, It was fine. We chose the medium one, which they refer to as shareable, six slices. It is enough, and you should have leftovers if it is just two of you.
Service was good. Especially with the main server, but two things stuck out at this locale
1. When handing out the plates, the person who provided them to us, had their finger not on the edge, but more in on the plate. It wasn't our server, regardless. I'm fairly confident nobody would want to have a finger, with an unknown clean level in the eating area.
2. If you are expecting hand sanitizer at this place, forget it. Zero. None. Nowhere. Not at the front counter nor as you walk in. I've seen sanitizer at a gas station checkout lane, so what eating food isn't a reason to have one, post pandemic and ongoing COVID-19 and other uh, sickness things? Makes no sense.
Food solid. It works. Do I need to get another deep dish pizza? Not really. After all, the last one I had was three years ago.
So what's another three years from now?
