BKB - Review - Bedford-Stuyvesant - New York - The Infatuation

"The second French restaurant opening in Bed-Stuy this week, BKB is a French/Belgian bistro and beer bar with a $30 steak au poivre, and four different types of moules frites. (We have our eyes on the mussels cooked with their house beer and chorizo.) Cocktails, wine, and beer are on offer, and everything is $15 and under. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Willa Moore

We accidentally found this French Restaurant steps away from an event at Akwaaba Mansion in Brooklyn. It didn't open until 4pm, but the staff graciously allowed us to come in around 3:45pm & have a drink until they opened. Ambience was serene and cozy, the waitress, friendly, personable, and attentive. My chickpea/beet/eggplant salad with sauté shrimp was excellent. My daughter's burger and fries in the brioche bun with swiss cheese was juicy and tasty. Cost was moderately priced. What a delightful find!

I was so excited when I learned that this Brasserie was opening, and they did not disappoint. The space is beautiful and I dined at the bar on both visits. The bartender Emilio is wonderful and in addition to serving up some delicious drinks, he made some solid food recommendations off the menu. The Moules Frites Dijonnaise and Tarte Flambée Classic, so good. Halfway through my meal I saw the roast chicken arrive for someone near me and I had to return to try it. This is the best roast chicken in Brooklyn, definitely come for this and don’t forget to get a side of green beans too. Thank you for adding this absolute gem to our neighborhood, can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu 😊

Such a great find - can’t tell you what I loved more, the food or the vibes. I was with a big group and we ordered a good portion of menu and shared all the dishes. (Also, great set up for group dinners with the long bench and comfortable seats.) Everything was amazing but the stand outs were the bitterballen, sweet fresh oysters, frites (must get the sauces), chicken wings, tarte flambee (both classic and veg were incredible - veg had sweet deeply roasted peppers which melted in your mouth) AND all the entrees were incredible - we got reclette on the burger (strong cheese) which was life changing. My only critique is that I wished the mussels were served in a shallower dish so I can get to the incredible broth easier :) Also, they have a great selection of Belgian beers which the group enjoyed but I stuck to white and rose wine which were perfectly chilled and crisp. We were there for over 3 hours and the service was great - so attentive and we never felt rushed - the closest to a European dining experience you’ll get on this side of the Atlantic. As the sun set, the vibes turned from elevated cafe to sexy disco with jazzy music and warm lighting. Will definitely be returning - looking forward to trying out the brunch and watching some soccer!

Had a wonderful anniversary dinner with my partner here. We were a fan of Mama Fox, the restaurant that was here before, and it still had a similar, but enhanced ambiance! The food and drinks were incredible! I definitely recommend the tiramisu! The service was great, but almost too attentive. Maybe it was a slower night but I felt like someone came by our table maybe 20 times. But it was well meaning and still very kind. A bit pricey but it feels like you get what you pay for. Highly recommend!

What a lovely little spot in the neighbourhood! Had a lovely Sunday dinner here, the staff was so lovely and welcoming and the decor/vibe was great too. For food we started with the cheese croquettes, niçoise salad with octopus, and the chicken wings. The stabdout of the three were definitely the croquettes… deeply rich and flavourful. The Chicken wings were also really lovely, light and seasoned well. The niçoise was tasty but the octopus was slightly overcooked. For dinner we got the mussels (wine, onion, thyme, garlic) and the steak. The mussels were lovely, tasty and aromatic. The steak was a nice cut of meat, cooked perfectly medium rare, but I will say that the gratin was under seasoned. All in all a lovely meal and the service was top notch !

Overall this place has the music, ambiance and pizzazz, but the food is just okay. Perhaps I have not eaten more items on the menu, but overall, not that impressed. Liked the Belgian /French items listed and will perhaps give it another go. Had the salmon dip for appetizer and Duck Ham salad was good - the duck tasted very much like ham.

BKB is a great neighborhood spot. The owners are always there making sure everything goes smoothly and the staff is sweet. I love the beverage selections — especially the wines — and I got to try the food for the first time yesterday and was so pleased. Their fries are amazing and I loved the caesar with steak!!! The steak was perfectly cooked and the salad was well dressed.

Excellent food, tasty beers, amazing vibes, very welcoming and friendly staff. I love this new neighborhood spot! For food we had the homemade bitterballen (meat croquettes) and the roasted eggplant/pepper spread. Delicious! After that Bouche a la reine, which was so good. Juicy meat, creamy sauce, on a French pastry, fresh fries, and homemade mayo. So tasty! The ‘pintje’ is their house beer, and they offer a wide range of specialty beers and cocktails. We sat at the bar but will definitely return to try their sunny outdoor terrace. Congrats on doing such a good job!
