"Aschara Vigsittaboot and Ralph Brabham transformed the original location for their neighborhood restaurant Beau Thai into BKK back in 2015. Noodle bowls dominate the menu (its pad Thai remains a top seller), but the restaurant also has generously portioned appetizers, whether it be Thai chicken wings or gyoza. Spicy basil rice lives up to its menu description. Offering both outdoor/indoor seating, with takeout and delivery through here. Brabham also runs nearby Shaw staple Beau Thai." - Missy Frederick, Tierney Plumb, Stephanie Carter

Google
A great place to go for Asian comfort food, homey vibes, and decent neighborhood Thai food. The Pad Thai was my favorite dish I ordered from the menu, the meat dishes (Pork shoulder and Mou Ton) were a bit underwhelming but still delicious! I would consider coming back to this place to try the curries :)

Google
5 stars! BKK Cookshop is a hidden gem in DC that serves up innovative and transformative Thai food. The flavors are bold and complex, and the dishes are beautifully presented. I've tried a number of things on the menu, and I've never been disappointed. My favorites from the starters section are the Brussels Sprouts and Dumpling Soup. The Brussels sprouts are charred and crispy, and they're tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce that is addictive. The dumpling soup is light and flavorful, and the dumplings are perfectly cooked. From the Noodles and Rice Dishes section, I love the Spaghetti Drunken Noodles and Bangkok Spicy Noodles. The drunken noodles are made with wide rice noodles that are stir-fried with shrimp, pork, and vegetables in a sweet and savory sauce. The Bangkok spicy noodles are made with thin rice noodles that are stir-fried with chicken, basil, and chili peppers. Both dishes are incredibly flavorful and satisfying. From the Noodle Bowls section, I can't get enough of the Hot and Spicy Noodle Bowl, the Tom Yum Shrimp Bowl, The Suki Noodle Bowl, and the Green Curry Bowl. The Hot and Spicy Noodle Bowl is made with rice noodles that are swimming in a spicy broth with pork, shrimp, and vegetables. The Tom Yum Shrimp Bowl is made with rice noodles in a sour and spicy broth with shrimp, mushrooms, and tomatoes. The Suki Noodle Bowl is made with rice noodles in a clear broth with pork, shrimp, vegetables, and a fried egg. The Green Curry Bowl is made with rice noodles in a green curry broth with chicken, vegetables, and bamboo shoots. All of these bowls are packed with flavor and are sure to please. The only dish I wasn't crazy about was the Boat Noodle Bowl. I found the broth to be a bit too fatty for my taste. From the Kitchen Features section, I absolutely love the Khao-Kapao with Kai-Dao and Pik Nam Pla. I've had it with both tofu and minced chicken, and both versions are amazing. The Khao-Kapao is a stir-fried dish made with rice, holy basil, chili peppers, and either tofu or minced chicken. It's served with a fried egg on top and a side of Pik Nam Pla, which is a fish sauce with lime juice and chili peppers. The flavors in this dish are incredible, and it's one of my favorites on the menu. I also enjoy the Larb Gai, which is a minced chicken salad with herbs and spices. I've also had it with fried tofu, and it's just as good. The Larb Gai is light and refreshing, and it's the perfect way to start a meal. The side of cucumber salad is also excellent. It's made with thinly sliced cucumbers that are tossed in a light vinaigrette. The cucumber salad is refreshing and helps to cleanse the palate between bites. Overall, I highly recommend BKK Cookshop. The food is amazing, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is inviting. I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu!

Google
My friend and I really enjoyed our meal at BKK Cookshop. The mango dish pictured offered complex flavors from sweet to spicy. Amazing! We enjoyed our beef satay ad the noodle dish. The atmosphere is bland, but tolerable.

Google
Lovely service, great food (some of the best fried tofu I’ve ever had). Yummy cocktails too! Will definitely be visiting again!

Google
Wonderful experience! the foods were so good! We had boat noodles and spicy mango salad. They were great! Good service and atmosphere, especially outside

Love this place! Vegan friendly and the food is delicious! I had an amazing apple cider cocktail that blew me away as well! Cheap and satisfying! Check them out if you haven't!

This is a hidden gem. Quality street Thai food in the heart of Shaw DC. My friend and I stopped by and ordered the spring rolls, chicken fried rice and beef pad Thai. The rolls were stuffed with meat and fried to perfection. The rice had some heat and awesome textured. The pad Thai was plentiful and very generous in quantity. The drinks and happy hour specials here are great as well. Our service was awesome and the food came out quickly. Flavors on point and not overly expensive. If you want authentic Thai food this is your spot

Google
This was my 2nd time trying Thai cuisine and it was amazing. We ordered takeout: chicken Pad Thai, sticky rice, and steamed vegetables, the staff couldn’t be nicer, the food was plenty, delicious, flavorful, and packaged very nicely, the presentation was awesome. We have leftovers for another meal, prices were more than reasonable, will go back again. Thanks!

Yelp
Came to BKK for dinner with a friend and had a great time! We walked in around 6:30 on a Wednesday and we're seated right away. There are a handful of tables inside plus some bar style seating against the wall and some outdoor patio seating. You order and pay through a QR code and staff are also quite friendly and attentive and check throughout to see if you need anything. I had the sweet sausage rice which was flavorful and a good sized portion. It was a little heavy on the oil for me but tasty nonetheless. To drink I had a Thai tea which was fabulous. The interior is cozy and cute. Very quiet and no music playing so it's a nice place for a conversation. Would totally come back. Tasty food friendly and quick service and quaint cozy atmosphere!

Yelp
Good service and ambiance but the food could have been better. I recently went here with a friend on a nice weeknight evening and we got to sit outside. Other than a rat scurrying across the pavement and a few mosquitos, it was a great patio. Our service was phenomenal-we got all our dishes within 10 minutes of ordering using the QR codes on the tables. My friend and I split the brussels sprouts and beef satay as appetizers. The brussels sprouts were delicious, had a good bite without being too crunchy, and were well-seasoned. The beef satay was cooked well, albeit more on the well-done side. The peanut and sweet dipping sauces were disappointing, as both could have used more flavor and spice. My hot and spicy noodle bowl was extremely underwhelming. While it had good spice and plenty of noodles, it had no other flavor and the chicken was bland. I would go elsewhere in DC for Thai food.

Justin N.

Yelp
Had dinner here with friends. The inside of the restaurant is casual. You order and pay on your phone. The Pad Thai, Spaghetti Drunken Noodle, and Beef Satay were good but not amazing. I tried the Beau Thai Tea cocktail because I love regular Thai Iced Tea, but my friend and I really did not like it-- the chili flavor was too strong. Would be interested in trying some of the other appetizers but don't see myself going out of my way to come here again soon.

Jon L.

Yelp
Cute little Thai restaurant. We stopped by based on the previous Yelp reviews and were very pleased. Everyone at the restaurant were friendly and attentive. We both had noodle bowls - I had the coconut with tofu and my partner had the veggie with tempura vegetables. Mine was rich and spicy. Hers was loaded with noodles and veggies. Both were hearty and delicious. There were lots of food choices for vegetarians.

Kurt W.

Yelp
I had to try this place because I get beef boat noodles in any city I visit where they're available. Not every city in America has this dish. It's my favorite Thai dish. BKK did it well. The food was well spiced and the meat had a good quality. It tastes as good as it looks. The Thai coffee was decent.

Brittany L.

Yelp
The food and service were both amazing. Drinks are yummy too. Everything is reasonably priced.

Stacy D.

Yelp
First time trying this restaurant, ordered delivery via Uber Eats. It took more than 1 hr for the food to be delivered so obviously food wasn't hot anymore when delivered, the flavors were good but main complaint is that some items not labeled as spicy were extremely spicy (also UberEats didn't give didn't have a note section to tell the restaurant to make things less spicy / mild). Ordered: 1. pad thai with tofu. loved the tofu but the pad thai was way too sweet 2. coconut curry noodles, this was one of the really spicy items, would have been great if it were less spicy. noodles were good texture and broth was nice 3. papaya salad was also really spicy 4. braised pork - loved this dish. pork had a lot of flavor and was really tender 5. spring rolls - mmm... was soggy and cold by the time food arrived, probably would have been good

Joanne L.

Yelp
I was craving Thai food and the coconut curry noodles looked too good to pass. I also got a papaya salad to start. It came in a big serving with sticky rice on the side. Super refreshing and flavorful. And then the coconut curry noodles came, with a giant chicken leg on top. The broth was fragrant and burning hot (LOL) but surprisingly not overly salty. There were thin egg noodles and crunchy bean sprouts. They didn't ask me for spice level, but both dishes were quite spicy, which I'm a fan of. Service was quick and friendly. They saw me struggling with the bone-in chicken and kindly offere a knife. The portion sizes were generous given the price. I has enough leftover of both dishes for another meal. I'm a big fan of Thai food and this place did not disappoint. Definitely see myself coming back regularly.

Yelp
I've been waiting to try this restaurant for so long. I decided to order via DoorDash....and I'm sad to say that I was underwhelmed :( I had the chicken pad Thai and spring rolls. I've had better at a Thai takeout place. I can at least say that I tried...but it was just okay.

Rachel C.

Yelp
This restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the coconut noodle bowl, and my friend ordered the pad thai with chicken. My noodle bowl was very filling, and the broth had great flavor. My friends pad thai was sweeter than any that I have tried previously. Not my absolute favorite. The best part was my cocktail. The beau thai tea was both spicy from the chili infused vodka and sweet from the cream. I would order it again and again. Great balance!!

Sarah G.

Yelp
Cute Thai place near my home neighborhood in the city. Really bright and bold flavors. The staff is really chill and knowledgeable, offering good recommendations and back stories if you've got time for that. I've been a few times and order delivery often. The only drawback is that it's not as consistent as I'd wish. Sometimes, your go-to dish is a little more oily or salty than you'd like that day.

Antoninette B.

Yelp
i have only ever gotten take out from this place but do walk by it all the time and the location is really cute! they have some outside seating and the inside is nice, i would think it's a good date night spot for sure. my favorite from them is the spicy basil rice. it is really well seasoned and has lots of flavor (i would say it's medium or high medium spicy). i also usually get the pad thai, which isn't my favorite but is still not bad. it's a sweet variation of pad thai and i personally like mine spicy instead so if you're the opposite, i'm sure you'd love it. the chicken for both dishes is also not my favorite but again, it's overall tasty. both dishes are $17, but the portion sizes are pretty big. i also recommend the thai gyoza! they are deep fried and come with a really great dipping sauce. overall not a bad spot for some rice and thai appetizers!

Natalie M.

Yelp
I stopped by the restaurant for a bite to eat the other day. It was a gorgeous summer day with a light breeze - just perfect for eating lunch in their outdoor seating area. After grabbing a seat on the nearly empty patio, I scanned the menu using an app on my phone and placed my order. I wanted the spring rolls; however, the waiter informed me that the restaurant was out of spring rolls. I ordered the Thai gyoza (fried dumplings with chicken, pork & shrimp and ginger/soy dipping sauce) instead. I also ordered the spicy basil fried rice with shrimp. The gyoza was flavorful; but a tad bit over fried. The basil fried rice was spicy and oily. I could only stomach a few bites. BKK - glad I stopped by for a visit; however, I'm not impressed enough to return. 3 stars for the pleasant service and outdoor seating!

Verina B.

Yelp
Spring rolls were cold and stale. And most of the items we wanted weren't available. But the dishes we got were good. Felt like the service was a little rude.

David S.

Yelp
Delicious food. What I got: Brussels sprouts starter: one of the best preparations of Brussels sprouts I've had anywhere. I was a little skeptical about the fish sauce, but trust me it works. Fair portion for the price, comes in a cute little metal fryer/steamer basket. Bangkok spicy noodles: came with ground pork, bok choy (or similar; cooked perfectly so it was still crisp), bean sprouts, and little crispy strips (I think fried pork fat). Tasty, well-composed dish. Comfortable level of spice, I wanted a bit more and they kindly brought out some chili powder which really got things rolling. Service was friendly and prompt. Water was refilled without me having to ask (huge plus when ordering spicy food), and I was checked in on several times. Inside wasn't too busy on a Sunday afternoon, although there was a steady stream of takeout orders. They have outdoor seating available as well, including a long table for a larger group. It's on what looks to be a residential street, trust your map!

Yelp
My new favorite Thai restaurant in DC. They have a fantastic happy hour as well on wine/bottles of wine and beer. Their mango margarita is amazing and while their cocktails are not a part of the HH, they are worth trying. I ordered the coconut curry meal with fried tofu and it was absolutely incredible. I love coconut, so this was the perfect comfort food and so filling. They also have great rice dishes that are so filling and you definitely get your money's worth, too.

Alan S.

Yelp
One of the best Thai meals I've ever had, on par with Sripraphai in New York. And that was despite eating in freezing temperatures on their back patio. I had the mushroom larb, which packed equal parts heat and flavor - something about the garlic mint combination really made me fall in love with this dish. The sticky rice's primary purpose for me was to offer some relief from the spice. The fried tofu, which appears ubiquitous in some of their dishes in addition to serving as an appetizer, was wonderfully textured. Also loved the pumpkin empanada, including the clear sauce that accompanied it.

Brian V.

Yelp
Small Thai restaurant/bar on a neighborhood corner. Service is pretty nice, attentive, and quick. Can't go wrong with the food here. Prices are reasonable, if not on the cheaper end of Thai food. $3 Thai Tea, $13 entrees - yeah I'd consider that a cheaper than average meal in DC. Coconut Curry Bowl - Large portions, provides a big chicken thigh to go with (or tofu for vegetarians). Was pretty satisfying. Fried Tofu - Silken tofu breaded and deep fried. Can't go wrong with that. Overall a nice little shop to stop by for happy hour or lunch. Reasonable prices and generous portions. Would recommend.

Racquelle W.

Yelp
Interesting deviled eggs and very moist basil fried rice. I recommend and would return

Holly H.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service. 10/10 recommend for anyone who is in the Shaw area.

Yelp
Came in for a birthday dinner on a Fri night, place was pretty quiet, which is nice, it's a small space. Just another table of two when we arrived and about halfway through our meal, a joyful group of 6 arrived. I got their spin on a hot toddy and my boyfriend got a local beer from Atlas. I loved my drink choice. Perfect on a cold night and had a fruity Thai syrup (mekhong) added for extra flair. We enjoyed chicken wings and the dumpling apps, fair portions and lots of flavor, nice and saucy meaty wings. We shared the green curry with pork and the pork shoulder meal. We asked for extra rice too, because the curry had so much tasty broth. The curry was excellently spiced, just enough to make a punch but not overpowering. The noodles were hiding underneath... good chewy noodles! The pork shoulder was tender and well dressed with vinegar and spices, good compliments of veggies and half an egg. Service was friendly, not too nosy and kind. Water always filled (helpful with the curry!!) We left with a little bit of curry for home, woohoo! Also bike parking for the win.

katherine t.

Yelp
Dined in and ordered in a few times. Last night I ordered the chicken pad thai and Suki noodles. The pad thai was overwhelmingly greasy and bland (like extra extra greasy, even for Thai food). The Suki noodles were better, had more flavor, but also very greasy. Super disappointed and knew I should've stuck with my usual spot (Beau Thai). Maybe it was an off day, but I won't order from them anytime soon.

Roaa E.

Yelp
I have been eating BKK at least once a week for the past 2 years and I can safely say this is the best drunken noodles I ever tasted! & Service is outstanding

Corrine M.

Yelp
A few friends and I came here on a warm day and had a late lunch/early dinner outside. Their patio is laid back and surrounded by lots of plants, so it was great for a casual meal. The only thing is because of the greenery, there were quite a lot of bugs, but I guess that's too be expected in swampy DC. We ordered lots of dishes to share - wings, dumplings and noodles - and everything was pretty good. I personally like everything super spicy and could've used more kick, but I'm sure everyone else appreciated that. The food was still very good. We also had froses and a couple of bottles of wine - all delicious. The service was pretty good even though we were outside and I look forward to going back once the indoor dining is safely reopened.

MacKenzie G.

Yelp
My meal here was interesting to say the least. I had the tofu pad thai, and it was the sweetest I've ever had. The tofu was a bit soggy and the meal was very oily, and make my stomach hurt later. The service was just okay and the outdoor tables were not cleaned properly. The service was just ok. I don't think I would ever return here.

Jane A.

Yelp
Chill and lowkey smaller like restaurant. Great Thai food, good service. I really enjoyed the Tom kha noodles during a rainy day

R G.

Yelp
First timer from out of town. Ordered the chicken pad thai. Generous portion, lots of chicken and a perfect blend of flavors, not salty and very satisfying. Ordered to go and the employees were friendly and courteous. Will come back before heading back home.

Hiral D.

Yelp
I met a friend here for dinner and was surprised to see such a unique menu! I also enjoyed everything I tried on the menu. We started with the fried tofu, and I can honestly say I've never had anything like it before! It was light and fluffy, yet crispy on the outside. I was shocked at the possibilities of silken tofu. My silken tofu experiments usually end up as soup. We also had the mango salad - I was expecting a bit more in terms of greens but it was still great. Finally I ordered the green curry noodles. It had eggplant and tofu - my favorite ingredients so I was really happy. I was craving rice since it usually comes with the curry, but I know this isn't your typical Thai restaurant, although I could have ordered it as a side. We finished with thai donuts- they were basically thai churros and paired really well with a nice warm cup of jasmine tea. We ate them all, they were light and airy and not too sweet. Definitely get them! Don't miss daily happy hour form 4-7 pm! Overall, I enjoyed this restaurant and would like to go back!

Rumesh V.

Yelp
One of my favorite Thai restaurants in the Shaw area. Absolutely love their noodle soups. They have various types ranging from all vegetarian to eggs and meat. My favorite is the coconut curry noodle soup with eggs and a chicken leg. It has a perfect blend of spicy and coconut flavor to it. This noodle soup has ramen noodles in it but if you try other soups they all have different noodles like rice noodles, egg noodles etc. I have also tried their green curry noodle soup with pork and chicken. It's their spiciest noodle soup which is even spicier than the spicy noodle soup. The texture of the soup is rich and creamy but that extra kick of spicy ness helps clear my sinuses. I always opt for this one when I have cold. Relieves cold and clears your sinuses instantly. Love the ambiance! They have outdoor seating on a nice sunny day. Well, I have never had difficulty finding a table but that does not mean that they are not crowded. They are pretty busy even on a Monday. Price is very nominal. Parking could be hard to find if you don't know this area very well.

Matthew N.

Yelp
Classic pad thai. Nothing to complain about here and also not much to exclaim about. It's good and an easy go-to pad thai if you're having trouble choosing between the 100+ thai places touting pad thais. A little greasy but that's to be expected from a pad thai delivered where the oil is accentuated but the black plastic to-go box.

David H.

Yelp
Writing an update as my recent experience here was pretty good. Portion sizes are still on the smaller side for me. But the dishes this time had good flavors. The boat noodle bowl was tasty and hit the spot on a cold night. The pork in it was perfectly tender. Spaghetti drunken noodles had great flavor and good heat - it was a bit weird having spaghetti replace delicious flat rice noodles, but they weren't bad at all. Lots of crispy basil in here. Last order was the pork shoulder (kha moo). Very tender and rich, served with rice and some greens.

Bronwyn E.

Yelp
Amazing thai food! My favorite in DC! I love the coconut thai noodle bowl with chicken. It's savory sweet spicy warm all at once. Large portions great price. Have outdoor patio seating. Not too busy, cute location in Shaw. Busy with takeout. Sometimes have fun drinks too! Love it here!

Shawna S.

Yelp
My travel companion was craaaaaaaving a Thai green papaya salad. Consulting Yelp, we selected BKK and made a reservation. On arrival, we were immediately accommodated, but discovered it was outdoor seating only. Selecting a picnic table, we braved the cold weather. There's no heaters. Fortunately, we did not wait long to order or be served. Our crispy Brussels Sprouts in fish sauce were mind numbingly delicious. Shortly after the Brussels sprouts were devoured, a Som Tum (Green Papaya) Salad with shrimp was set before us along with a Sweet Sausage Rice. Hot, fresh and seasoned perfectly, the deliciousness distracted us from the cold. Eating with passionate gusto, neither dish lasted. Only the plates remained. Service was quick and pleasant. Food was exceptionally tasty. Prices reasonable. This restaurant meets its reviews and exceeds expectations. Highly recommended.

Mr. J.

Yelp
Came here in search of some good Thai food. I can't say I was disappointed but generally speaking , I believe it to be 3.5 out of 5 comparably. We had Pad Thai,Kyoza, and a chicken noodle dish where the name escapes me. Pad Thai was definitely 4 stars while the others 3 ish. There really needed to me a bit more meat in the dishes as a whole . Seasoning was good and food was fresh.

Jasmine B.

Yelp
Another installment of the carnivore and the vegetarian dining out in DC. Apps: We got buns (2 chicken and one veggie) and pumpkins empanadas to start. The empanadas were yummy! I highly recommend. The mixed veggie bun was okay, but not stellar. The chicken bun was evidently more flavorful. Entrees: Menu wise, one thing that was super disappointing on the vegetarian front is there is only one vegetarian entree!!! Agghhh. In many Thai places a lot of the entrees can be made vegetarian by omitting the fish sauce. This isn't the case here. There is one option, so that's what I got. Vegetarian noodle boll with tempura. I was pleasantly surprised by the aromatic broth. Nice and garlicky. I was again disappointed that it wasn't spicy and when I asked for spice, I was told there wasn't any :( so sad. But the meal was tasty. There were plenty of noodles, and even some Inari in the broth. I'm not a huge fan of tempura, but it was good, the veggies were still crisp and it wasn't greasy - which I normally find overwhelming with tempura. My meat eating partner in crime got the coconut noodle bowl with chicken and he LOVED it! He will be dreaming of the yummy broth. It smelled really good. It was served with a big chicken thigh and a boiled egg. It was medium spicy with plenty of scallions, but not enough noodles. Ambiance: it is adorable! People were sitting outside with their dog. We sat inside and enjoyed the nice decor and great music. Service was okay. Not great not bad. I would come back for Happy hour to try out some discounted cocktails.

Hannah C.

Yelp
Good Thai takeout with interesting flavors. I got the sweet sausage rice, which was a really fun and different take on fried rice. It had a lot of bites of Thai sausage and the tomatoes added a nice acidity. My boyfriend got the tofu pad Thai, which I found a little acidic but he really liked. The spring rolls stayed crispy and were classic takeout comfort food. Delivery was fast and easy. I'd definitely go back.

Shayne T.

Yelp
Have yet to have a bad experience here. Great spot to take your vegetarian friend(s) and order family style. The fried tofu, Thai gyoza, and spicy basil dice have been our go-to dishes.

Abe K.

Yelp
If you are a white person who can't handle your heat, this place is for you. I was very satisfied with the flavor of dishes (which tempted me to give this place 4 stars) but where's the spice? A Thai once told me you aren't eating Thai food if you aren't sweating. I ordered the coconut noodle soup, tom yum shrimp, pad thai, shanghai drunken noodles, and the ground minced pork over rice. I ordered the drunken noodles extra spicy and there wasn't even a pepper seed in it. The tomyum shrimp was most disappointing, missing some key ingredients like kaffir leaves and lemongrass that really gives it the sweet and sour umami flavor. It tasted like it only had coconut milk and lime. The coconut noodle soup was probably my favorite as the chicken was tender, noodles well cooked, and very flavorful (still could've used a little bit of spice). Thank God I made some nam som prik dong (thai peppers in fish sauce) the day before to eat with the meal.

Kristy B.

Yelp
A true Thai gem hiding in plain sight in Shaw. The restaurant is small and cozy and just the perfect place for a catch up with old friends. There's a solid happy hour to accompany your pretty dang authentic Thai food. There's an awesome khao soi dish that's hiding under the ruse of a coconut noodle bowl. It might not be quiteeee as good as you would get in Thailand for $3 but a super solid DC substitute. This has quickly become my go-to Thai place. Definitely recommend and will be back!

Khoi N.

Yelp

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place, but was very disappointed. I got the SPICY BASIL RICE and it was extremely bland. The beef was dry, overcooked and flavorless. Not to mention the portion was small... I had to make food at home to fill me up. Seriously, a cheap Chinese takeout spot would have been 10x more delicious and cheaper as well. I felt scammed by BKK Cookshop and DO NOT recommend this place. NOTE: I ordered this from DoorDash, so I can't provide my input to a waiter or manager. Also, they failed to put in utensils and napkins for my order.

Jon H.

Yelp
Loved going here for lunch but now they don't open for lunch. Typically would start with 2-3 Singha beers and then get the wings which were nice and crispy and then a bowl of the hot/spicy noodle chicken broth...another 3 Singha beers. Please open back up for lunch during the week!

James L.

Yelp
Overall pretty good. I ordered delivery and some of the food didn't travel well, so hopefully I can order to go next time (or hopefully dine in one day...) Pad Thai (chicken): 5 stars. Nicely seasoned without being overwhelmingly peanut-y so other flavors came through. My favorite pad Thai in DC to date! Brussels sprouts: 4 stars. Really delicious sauce, but kind of soaked through the Brussels sprouts in transit. Would be great if the greens came separate from the sauce. I bet these would be 5 star in person. Beef satay: 3 stars. The beef itself was quite well done and not especially flavorful. But the sweet sauce was delicious, and had wonderful bits of pepper in it.

Lora K.

Yelp
Worst pad Thai I've had in a long time. Was nauseating to eat from all of the oil. Both my roommate and myself found the noodles almost inedible. Unfortunately was starving so I ate most of it and now my stomach is hurting and I have bad heart burn. Also have never seen pad Thai so.. orangish red. This just tasted too Americanized and just tasted of sweet oil. Won't ever eat from here again.

Erin P.

Yelp
Coming here to update my five year old review. I used to live a block away from BKK and ate there at least once a week. The Hot and Spicy Noodles are incredibly craveable. The pad Thai is excellent - I actually prefer it to Beau Thai's (this is their sister restaurant). Must orders: basil fried rice (after becoming veg this is my go-to dish), veggie spring rolls, Brussels sprouts, and pad Thai. You honestly cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. I cannot wait to get back to the restaurant post-COVID because they are some of the nicest people, too! And if you're there while they have frosé, it is a MUST!!! If you need a sweet fix, the Thai donuts are a delight. They come with a lovely creamy dipping sauce and are airy and crunchy.

Yelp
Had Tom yum noodle here and it was good! Would skip the green mango salad. This restaurant is about you would expect, tucked away in a little corner in Shaw. A solid option overall!

Yelp
Wow! Terrible service for mediocre food, avoid this nasty excuse of a Thai restaurant and try your luck at another establishment. Sent food back and was given the same food in return! Absolutely disgusting. Will be contacting the health department. To make matters worse, we also found a hair in one of the boat noodle soups that we ordered!!

Yelp
SO BLAND. The first time I ordered from this restaurant I was extremely disappointed. The pad thai was absolutely flavorless. Regardless, I decided to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and order from them a second time, seeing as how they are generally well reviewed. Unfortunately, the pad thai was yet again almost flavorless. The ONLY flavor I detected was a very subtle sweetness. It also contained an abnormally large amount of chicken, which some might find pleasing. I did not. Don't waste your money.
