On October 6, 2024, my partner and I dined at the Black Bear Diner located at 2751 N Green Valley Pkwy, Henderson, NV 89014. This was our second visit--the first being for breakfast, during which we had a much better experience.
During this visit, the service was notably slow due to what our server, Eva, mentioned was a staffing shortage. While the restaurant was busy, it wasn't overwhelmingly so. My partner ordered the breaded fried chicken steak, and I ordered the chicken club. Unfortunately, the fried chicken steak was undercooked, with visible red meat and an unpleasant taste. My chicken club, though more acceptable, did not make up for the issue with my partner's meal.
Eva, who provided excellent service throughout, offered to replace my partner's meal. We requested a chicken club in exchange. However, Eva returned to inform us that the manager refused the request, citing a large party that had just arrived. This response left us feeling both disappointed and uncomfortable with how the situation was handled.
Eva went above and beyond by only charging us for the two sodas, totaling $4.00, and I left her a $15.00 tip in appreciation of her professionalism and gesture. Despite this, the overall experience was unacceptable. We felt that our concerns were dismissed, and we were treated indifferently by the management.
Although I wasn't able to capture a photo of the undercooked chicken in time, I can attest to the fact that it was served in an unsafe condition. While we greatly appreciated Eva's service, the lack of response and care from management was deeply disappointing.
Kudos to Eva for her outstanding service, but unfortunately, the experience as a whole was unsatisfactory.
10/09/2024 Follow up: this happened last week, plus I've even sent my concern to their California corporate office via info@blackbeardiner.com as they requested with my information if they so choose to contact me directly but it seem they don't care or have any interest.
