I finally got the chance to try this place out and wasn’t disappointed. The lady at the counter was super helpful as I wasn’t sure what I wanted, and she let us know what their most popular sandwiches and sides are. I ended up going with the brisket and adding the fries and potato salad as sides. They had different BBQ sauces to choose from that you could serve yourself and I ended up going with the KC BBQ sauce; really good and definitely recommend. Lastly, I have to say I love the atmosphere and I’m a fan of the wall art. There’s definitely a lot more on the menu that I wish I could try. If you’re ever in the area and looking for something to eat I’d say give this place a shot.

We visited the Black Bear Kitchen yesterday for an early dinner while visiting a street fair in downtown Clermont. We shared a Black Bear Reuben ($11.50) which is Turkey Pastrami, sauerkraut, 2 slices of Swiss cheese, crumbled bacon and Russian dressing on a marbled toast. We also ordered a side of Fried Green Tomatoes ($7.99), which comes with 4 slices and ranch dressing or you can upgrade to a roumalade which we did. The Black Bear Reuben was very flavorful and perfect to share for our light dinner. This is definitely a recommend and something we will order again. The Fried Green Tomatoes were ok but the tomatoes themselves were pretty soft. Not sure if these were from the freezer to fryer or if they were made from scratch. This restaurant has several different barbeque sauces to choose from. We didn’t try any of them on this visit. Service was friendly and you have a choice to either order yourself from a screen or you can order with a cashier. The manager was friendly and brought our food to our table. This is definitely a restaurant to experience when you are in Clermont.

Brock and Eddie are amazing! The vibes, the atmosphere and service is top tier thanks to these guys. They quickly make you feel like long time friends. There’s a wide variety in drinks and the food is delicious. Service is quick too! The karaoke was needed in this area and this is it! You have to check it out!

Great location in the cool artsy downtown strip. I got the "BarbeCuban" (pulled pork on Cuban sandwich) - fantastic, everything I wanted it to be! Huge fan of the sauce selection. I tried the Alabama White, Latin Mojito and FL Citrus on my sandwich and fries. I liked the Alabama sauce the best, full of garlic flavor and a little tangy. The others were also good and I want to come back and try them again. Baked beans and fries for my sides - the beans were excellent, seemed like a real homemade recipe style, nice and thick almost like BBQ chili beans, not too sweet or watered down. The fries were kind of mid, would have liked them better if they battered or crispier. Still great for dunking! My sandwich was big enough along with the sides that I saved half to bring home. Definitely big enough to split as a meal for two. My dinner date got a plain cheeseburger and seemed pretty happy with it. They also have a dessert selection from a local bakery, we got the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, very rich and fudgy! The store was clean and service was friendly with refills for our drinks and happy to answer any questions. Overall a great dinner visit and would gladly recommend. Thanks Black Bear Kitchen!

Google
A really cool, small bbq spot in downtown Clermont. We stopped in to grab a quick bite to eat and this place did not disappoint. The ribs and brisket was delicious. The platter was plenty to share among a few of us.

Google
First time ordering from here. The food got here in a reasonable time, and it was the food I ordered, so 3 stars to start with. But the food was awful: looked bad, tasted bad, pretty small portions. The other food pictures on here look good. If I was in the restaurant I would have sent it back, something I pretty much never do. What is the opposite of fall-off-the-bone?

I was really excited to try Black Bear Kitchen. The atmosphere is so nice and welcoming, until you are greeted by the rude lady at the cash register who doesn’t interact or crack a smile. I ordered two orders of the chicken tacos at $11.50 each and received enough food for MAYBE a toddler. I went back up and ordered a kids meal with Mac and cheese, fries and a drink. It was $6.42 (or so) and I gave the guy $7. He didn’t give me my change or the drink that was included. Luckily enough the kids meal had more food than the adult meal, so at least my toddler didn’t leave hungry. I feel entirely ripped off by a place I really wanted to like.

The owner was exceptionally rude. One of their beer pumps wasn't working correctly, which led to being drenched in blueberry cider, ruining my outfit (photo attached). There was no sign indicating that it was out of order. When I brought this to the attention of the owner, I was essentially mocked by him, saying that I should have known the pump wasn't working due to a cup being over the handle. I'm new to pouring my own beer, so I didn't know what that meant. His attitude, however, was incredibly disrespectful. I'll never be going there again, and I don't recommend anyone else go there either; the owner simply doesn't respect people.

Yelp
First time visit to Black Bear Kitchen. I initially went for the baked potato, but unfortunately they were out for the day. So I made a pivot and got the street tacos. The tacos did not disappoint. The meat was seasoned and cooked nicely. The tacos were flavorful. My husband had the hamburger and he said that it was good. You can get two sides and a drink for an additional $6.50. Which makes it perfect for sharing. We picked potato salad and collard greens. The collards would be better if cooked with some smokey meat and pepper vinegar. We had excellent service from start to finish. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. Two different rooms you can sit in. The only downside was the noise level. Between the volume of the music and the people playing connect four outside it was a little loud. I will keep Black Bear Kitchen on my list to visit again.

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch today and shared because we weren't really that hungry. We got the KALENAS STREET TACOS. It was made with brisket, pickled onion, cotija cheese, cilantro for $10. It was good and had good flavor. The brisket actually tasted like roast beef instead of smoked brisket... We were just expecting more of a brisket taste instead. We both loved the other ingredients on the tacos and thought it was an excellent choice. We thought about eating outside but while I was sitting there waiting for my wife to come back out with our lunch I noticed the music coming from the Black Bear was competing with the Tap Room business outdoor seating area speakers as well. Both were loud and playing two different songs and different genres! Very annoying and not enjoyable for outside seating. At least be playing the same music! We decided to eat inside instead. Restaurant was clean.

Yelp
Oh my goodness. Let me count the ways this place is a total disaster. Ordered at the kiosk at 12:07. Food runner came out at 12:30 and said our order will be right out. 12:37...food delivered. Ugg. Both of our sandwiches...wife's smoked brisket wrap, me: chicken ranch rap, could be considered vegetarian. The lack of meat from a BBQ place, is inexcusable. I thought I was being punked. Seriously, this was a horrible lunch. It ruined our day trip to Claremont. Never again. Be warned. Don't believe the reviews you may read. This place is a "no go."

Yelp
Actually it's my 2nd time here and it is still as good as the first time. They have moved into the smaller spot one space over with 3 interior tables. You order at the kiosks and they deliver to your table. The brisket was tender, and very smoky and with the choices of sauces made it the highlight of the meal. The corn cake was also a true show stopper and the fried green tomatoes were also a very good choice. The sauces are now 75 cents each ( not including sauces included with the meal).

Yelp
I was at a meeting in Tavares many years ago when Black Bear Barbeque, then in Mount Dora, was recommended as a great place for barbeque. I remember the meat being seasoned with a slightly sweet dry rub and slow barbecued to keep it tender and moist. The variety of sauces at the sauce bar was a novel idea back then and gave me my first chance to sample their white Carolina sauce. I just so happened to be back up in Tavares this week, when I enquired about Black Bear, and my friends sadly told me they had moved to Montverde. I did a Google search before heading home to see if I could find it and low and behold they had moved to my hometown of Clermont! No they are Not in downtown Ocoee, so don't go looking for them there. They are on West Montrose Street in beautiful Downtown Clermont. The meat and sides are thankfully just as delicious as I remember; hubby was with me and we ordered the Vegetarian Nightmare to share between us and it was brimming with tasty brisket, pulled pork, half a chicken and three meaty, juicy ribs. Even though we got there abiut twenty minutes before they closed, everything tasted fresh and still moist. We had so much, we took most of it home. If you are on the Carnivore diet like me or Keto, you will be happy to know that you order your sides separately from the meat. Hubby ordered the cole slaw to go with his meal and the serving was generous and flavorful. They also offer loaded baked potatoes, sandwiches and salads, along with some amazing looking desserts are some other options you can choose from. I even noticed some boozy slushies - pina colada and a wine infused option if you want some adult beverages with your meal. Service was friendly and helpful. The restaurant is nicely decorated in cheery colors, and there is an outside, shaded seating area where you can enjoy your meal if you prefer. The music they played was pleasant and not too loud so you could still talk to each other which I appreciate. Let me also address prices and quantity; for the effort that it takes to prepare Good Quality barbecue, their prices are not unreasonable at all. You get what you pay for. As I stated above, we didn't pay anymore than we would have for two separate entrees anywhere else, and we had lots of leftovers so we are actually getting four meals instead of two! I can't wait to get back to try some other options on the menu!

Yelp
We were not aware of this location as we were used to going to the one in Monteverda. Location is located right off of the Main Street in downtown Ocoee. Food was really good bbq! My husband got the three meat plate with the smoked chicken, pulled pork and brisket. Love that they asked how you want your brisket (lean or a little fatty). I had the bbq salad with pulled pork. Fresh salad and a great portion size in the pulled pork. The sweet bbq sauce is great!!

Yelp
Very little food for the prices paid. We couldn't see any value in the entire experience in this small fast casual bbq spot for the hefty prices. We ordered the garden salad ($9.50) and added on brisket ($3.00), and Kalena's street Tacos ($11.50) includes choice of protein-there is a $2.00 charge if you mix and match proteins on the three tiny tacos in this order; coleslaw can be added on the side for an extra $2.00. Salad - served portion is as large as regular side salad at most restaurants with scant amount of toppings and it's $9.00! Protein choice is extra; we added the brisket for $3.00 and did not think to ask how much brisket you get, it wasn't very much, 4-5 thin strips. BBQ taste on the meat wasn't prominent. Tacos: three very tiny tacos are included in this dish. I ordered brisket on all three, and again no prominent taste of the meat. There was a fair amount of meat in each taco but the shells were so small you could eat it in 1 1/2 -2 bites. Pickled onions on each taco were good but masked the taste of all other ingredients including the meat. Small flour taco tortillas seemed a bit gummy, a little undercooked. As we were the only ones there at the time service was fast. There is a small spot designated for "Tray Return" so it's assumed we're expected to clear our own table, but there was no place for dirty dishes/utensils. Couple pluses: Large selection of bbq sauces, many traditional sauces (white sauce, Carolina, Kansas City etc) and some unique sauces such as Florida citrus. Cleanliness was a plus here. The restaurant is connected to a bar so maybe this isn't a dining place but more of a snacking place to complement the bar next door?

Yelp
Two Meat Meal- A lot of meat for your money Brisket-Nice bark and good smoky flavor Pulled Pork- Tender and smoky Mac and Cheese- Creamy Baked Beans- Different from what I'm used to but decent I recommend both KC bbq sauces. The hot isn't overly hot so most people will eat it in my opinion.

Yelp
Pulled pork was mostly fat. Cole slaw was very bland and flavorless. French fries were on the greasy side.

Yelp
Black Bear Kitchen Bbq Sauces: Latin Bbq Sauce - Nice initial flavor to start, a little sweet and tangy. FL Citrus Bbq Sauce - The citrus flavor is there but is lacking. Flavor disappears within seconds of eating it. Chipotle Sauce- Not much heat. Could use more flavor and more heat. Not to much where it's killing a person obviously. Meats: Brisket- brisket needs more seasoning and flavor. A tad bit dry and lacks flavor 3/10 Side note- I ordered it with more fatty and didn't get much of a fatty piece. Pulled Pork- By itself has no initial flavor. It lacks flavor by itself and is a little dry. 4/10 St. Lou's Ribs- Ribs were fall off the bone, nice and tender, but again lacks flavor. Sides: Mac and Cheese- Basic to say the least. To call this under flavored is an understatement. Baked Beans- Lacks flavor and missed out potential. Beans are nice and cooked but that's the only positive. Overall Review: Black Bear itself has a nice welcoming environment. I did like how they had different sauces to try. The food however needs flavor and more smoke on them.

Yelp
First Friday dinner! They have a typical menu for BBQ. The staff was quick and courteous. They served us at our outdoor table when the food came up. I really enjoyed where we were seated as they have a few small games and live music close by. The brisket was by far my favorite.

Yelp
We saw this place on tiki tok and it looked amazing. We drove an hour to check it out. Big mistake. I'll start with the food was good but... they no longer have the sauce bar and charge $.75 per tasting. I ordered a bbqubien and she said I had to pay extra for sauce because it came with mayo and mustard, like a Cuban should. I did pay the extra $.75 to try one of the sauces, but when it came. It already had mustard on it, and she gave me a mustard and mayo packet. We went on a Saturday at noon, and they were out of so much stuff. Overall, this is a pass, not great.

Yelp
Great BBQ with super friendly staff. We had pretty much everything they have to offer and enjoyed majority of it. They also have a ton of sauces you can choose from.

Yelp
It was okay but not good enough for us to return. Portions are good. I got the brisket (lean) and it was juicy but not lean and lacked seasoning. The sides were meh. Mac & Cheese fine, coleslaw so tasteless I tossed it. Husband got the BBQuban and he enjoyed the sandwich but also didn't like the coleslaw but liked the fries. We ordered from the kiosk. If you do be aware that you then have to go to counter to ask for your drinks. So just order from the counter instead. Our food was served to us without the drinks and this is how we learned that. Also, our food was served at different times. My husband's meal was waiting for the fries. I hate when food is not served together. Glad we tried it. Sad we didn't like it.

Yelp
The portions were plentiful. The meat was juicy. Wasn't thrilled with the Mac and Cheese. Definitely will go back. The pulled pork was flavorful, not dry at all

Yelp
I'm a big Ellie Lou's fan and still am. But sometimes you gotta switch things up. Finally tried this place and we were not disappointed. We loved everything we got. The corn cake was amazing! Brisket was sooooo good. We'll be back for sure.

Yelp
Went in after the farmers market. I had the BarBcuban. The name caught my eye. Never say no to a Cuban!! It was really good. The bread was the perfect crunchy.... My new go to when I'm downtown. Grab one to go and take it to the brewery.

Yelp
We were excited to try this place. There were flies all over the counters. I asked what meat the sausage was made out of due to an allergy and she told me it was made of "sausage" We waited quite a while for the order when I received it, they gave me pulled pork and smoked turkey. I ordered sausage and turkey. She then argued with me that I didn't order that and the other girl behind the counter had an attitude and rolled her eyes. This place is all over the place and needs new management. I do not recommend this place.

Jacqueline D.

Yelp
The food was cooked perfectly and fresh . The manger was courteous and even offered seating in the expanded side for comfort ! Thumbs up !!!

Yelp
So happy we tried this new spot. Food was very delicious. Everything tasted fresh. We needed this in Clermont. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Wow is what I have to say! We were helped by a young man with a good mustache, at my age (58) it's tough to grow one. Anyway, I know a few things about a BQB. The food here is great and hearty. Don't leave your appetite at home!!!!!! I got the sexy sandwhich, with friees and macncheese. This takes me back to my times working on docks in the old state of Louisiana. Will be back!!!! Also! The chefs cheated in the Super Bowl! Just had the wantons, they're actually incredible. Makes me feel young again.

Lori V.

Yelp
The food was delicious, had brisket tacos with seasoned fries. Service was excellent, the owner was there and wanted our input on the food. We will definitely go back again

Debra L V.

Yelp
Love their food and meat options. I like that we can just order the meat and have the option of adding sides.
