What a wonderful place! Well kept visitor center and gift shop as well as clean bathrooms throughout the park. The trails around the canyon are well marked and each entry to a trail indicates how far the walk is to the scenic view or outlook (we found this very helpful). Plenty of wildlife to see too. This is a do not miss national park.

It is truly a beautiful landscape to behold. It's easy to traverse the short paths to the overlooks and catch the infinite angles of the canyon walls. Definitely bring your camera as there are unlimited photo opportunities.

We really enjoyed this NP, we camped at the campground over Memorial Weekend. The views are breathtaking. We drove down the E Portal Rd and it is very steep and switchbacks to the bottom of the canyon;(Your brakes with smell) to see the river and dam up close was powerful. We brought binoculars on every hike and did spot some rams down in the canyon. This is a peaceful park, we loved experiencing it

What an awe inspiring National Park! The views are breathtaking. Once we arrived we drove the road to the bottom of the Canyon, down to the river and dam. Be cautious. It’s a 16% grade for several miles. Our rental mini van brakes were getting mushy towards the bottom. Very cool to be at the bottom of the canyon. Once back on top, we hit several of the overlooks. Some are quite a hike, some are pretty short. All have amazing views of the canyon! Loved our visit here. Would like to come back again and actually go into the canyon more! Park rangers are super helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable!

I truly think this is one of the most beautiful places in America. And this is one of the most approachable national parks I’ve been to. We’re traveling with our dog, and it’s always nice to be able to include them so you don’t have to skip the highlights of a park. There’s a nice out-and-back trail along the rim, and they’re allowed to hike on all of the overlooks with you. Do not miss the overlooks- every single one was a nice short hike that lead to totally different angles/areas of the canyon. It’s mind-blowing how vast this canyon is, and super cool to see it from the rim.

Black Canyon is an amazing underated park and absolutely gorgeous. Most overlooks are fairly easy to reach and ranger programs occur daily. Note that there is currently construction near the entrance that can cause some wait times but the rest of the park is good to go.

My visit to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park was nothing short of spectacular. Located in western Colorado, this park is a hidden gem that offers some of the most dramatic landscapes I’ve ever seen. The sheer walls of the canyon, carved by the Gunnison River over millions of years, are truly awe-inspiring. The South Rim Road is a must-drive, with numerous overlooks that provide jaw-dropping views of the canyon. Each overlook offers a unique perspective, but Painted Wall and Gunnison Point were my favorites. The depth and narrowness of the canyon are most evident from these points, and it’s hard not to be humbled by the natural beauty.

Best National Park I’ve ever been to! Every lookout has something unique of the canyon to offer and you can see and hear the river from almost all of them. Slow down and look for wildlife along the trails and all around the park, there’s a lot. South Rim Visitor Center is very informative and interesting. I also suggest go up to Highway 92 and do those overlooks on the north. Pioneer Point and Hermits Rest are awesome. Black Canyon will capture your heart.
