Black Cat Coffee

I visited this coffee house over this last weekend. It has a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a drink. The ambiance was comfortable, and it's easy to see why it's a local favorite. However , my experience with the service was less than ideal. I ordered a latte and specifically requested it to be extra hot. The person taking my order passed the request along, but unfortunately, the drink was barely warm when I received it. I politely asked whether my request had been noted and the barista confirmed it had. She did offer to remake it, but given that I was with others, I didn't want to make a fuss.I decided to keep the drink as it was. Rather than acknowledging the situation with a simple apology or understanding , the barista seemed annoyed that I didn't want a remake, and I later overheard her complaining about it to coworkers. This reaction felt unnecessary and unprofessional.It's understandable that mistakes happen, but a small amount of kindness and courtesy goes a long way in making guests feel valued. While the coffee shop's environment was lovel, the attitude of the staff put a damper on the experience. I hope that in the future, customer service will match the welcoming atmosphere that this spot has to offer.

Was looking for a coffee shop in my area that I've never been to, and came across this gem. The dark coffee was really good, and the brownie was pretty good also. Love the decor and the place was very spacious.

I absolutely love Black Cat. The drinks are delicious, the staff is very kind and the atmosphere is great for a quick cup with a friend, a study date or reading a book with a chai. Their cold brews are named after cats, as the name implies, and my favorite so far is the French Lynch or Peppermint Panther. They also make their syrups in house! During my first semester of graduate school I would come here to work on my bigger projects the to get out of the house. The vibe is cozy, very welcoming and a good change of pace from a busy house. It does get busy in the mornings because it's the best in town, so make sure you plan accordingly. They are still very fast at getting your drink to you and there has never been any issue with my order.

I got an iced Mexican mocha and it was honestly the best coffee I had in a long time. It such a cute space with plenty of seating. ALSO, they got the good ice 😋 Will definitely be returning!

I love this place! It's cozy and the coffee is really good! They have plenty of tables and couches with comfy chairs. There is a little library with books and board games to play. There isn't a huge selection of food, but they have sandwiches. I didn't have a pastry yet, but I still for sure. Definitely give them a try!

This coffee shop is fantastic! The staff are always friendly, and their house-made flavored syrups are delicious—I'm hooked on the coconut mocha. The comfy lounging areas make it a great spot to relax. Highly recommend!

Great little local place, but it sure seems like they heavily throttle internet access for their customers. I came in to do some light work and got a $9 late with tip included - I should be able to upload some files and do some light work in google drive for that price I think. But the internet continually throttled itself and I had to go home, which is what I was trying to avoid by coming in for a late. I know places like this have to deal with the occasional bad actor, but blanket throttling on any sort of uploads for their customers makes the free WiFi pretty useless for a lot of folks. If I were the owner I’d talk to the ISP about an unlimited data package for high speed internet so there’s no need to throttle people coming in to do some work while they get their coffee.

First time here. Was next door waiting in line for record store day and decided to grab a latte to warm up. Glad I did! One of the best coffee ive had in a long time! Blows the popular chain coffee place out of the water. Will definitely be back whenever im in the Clem!

Mexican coffee is outstanding and the service and atmosphere is amazing! New place to hang out!

Black Cat Coffee I just adore this place! The space is big and open and gorgeous. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the drinks are sooo good! My husband went with a classic Americano last time and I went with my go-to lavender iced latte. It's my favorite! We were there for a while, so we also decided to try their Arnold Palmer and lavender lemonade. Yummmmy!! It's much more pleasant to get some work done in a beautiful space, with delicious drinks. Each time we visit Mt.Clemens it gets nicer & nicer. I'm such a fan!

First of all, the place is huge, and it's wonderfully quiet and looks like a great place to sit... and ponder life. I got the pumpkin puma nitro cold brew, and it was phenomenal. Not overly sweet, perfectly balanced. They have a seasonal menu and a very large every day one. And I must say, they've got some employees with personality, I thoroughly enjoyed that!

Big, beautiful space in Downtown Mt Clemens with lots of windows (we artists love that) and great drinks. My favorite is the lavender latte, I've had it hot and iced, and I like them both. Small pastries are available for purchase, I highly recommend the macarons! The baristas are cool, and service is prompt.

Great place for coffee, catch up with old friends, study, get away from it all. Oh and they have great coffee and tea too! Enjoy the pumpkin praline latte with oat milk. I've had it cold and hot and both were good. First time was a little sweet so I asked for half syrup and that was purrfect! Great hours, open 7 days a week!

An excellent ambiance; just what you'd expect for a downtown café. Not to mention their coffee and espresso is great. And the baristas are VERY nice. Highly recommend!

It's a very calm environment with a lot of other people who come here to study or read! The workers are usually very nice as well!

Customer service is amazing! I walked in one Wednesday evening after 6:30. My usual at any coffee shop is a iced vanilla latte. It was chilly out so I inquired about maybe a hot one.. He said try it. I said I'll stick to iced. He tried to persuade me. He said if I didn't like it he would whip me up an iced one. For a few minutes we went back and forth- he almost got me. I hate wasting and I didn't want it to go to waste. He finally conceded. But how great is that? Amazing place to study at, hang out.. it's quiet and everyone is doing their own thing. The coffee was good. Customer service better.

The best local coffee shop around! Cute, inviting and spacious inside. Soooo many amazing coffee options both got and cold and they also have a large tea selection. I wish they had mire food to choose from, especially gluten free but their drinks are awesome. My personal fav is the Cafe miel with oat milk.

Checked out Black Cat Coffee after a friend recommended it. Did not disappoint- great seasonal offerings with an extensive coffee menu. Went with the Dirty Chai did not disappoint! Plenty of seating with a cozy fireplace and perfect place to catch up with friends! Will definitely have to try more of the seasonal menu!

Love the London fog, chai, and seasonal currant latte. This is my favorite local coffee shop. I highly recommend.

Love the coffee cafe! I was in the area getting my hair done for an event & stopped in the Black Cat to grab a drink before my appointment. I loved everything about this spot. The decor...so classy and of course, if it has to do with cats, I'm a fan. The barista was very helpful. I ordered a Lavender Honey Iced Latte with Oat Milk! It was fantastic. I also called the salon and grabbed some drinks for my girls at Studio 58. If you happen to be out this way, check it out!

Loved the coffee was very good and the place was so pretty entering. But the bathrooms were horrible I was shocked I will say it was like another place definitely something that needs to be taken care of during opening hours.

Love to go here for coffee meetings or day dates with my hubby. Delicious coffee. Wonderful vibe of historic Mt Clemens building with modern touches. The lemon bars are delicious- but bring a friend to share because they are also sweet and rich (good for aforementioned day date )

I came here two days in a row. Yesterday I got one of their special nitro cold brew the hazelnut leopard which was delicious and today I got the dirty chai and I was surprised it was spicy- I did not care for it. The cashier told me after I asked that they make their chai syrup there and it has cayenne pepper in it - supposedly they overdid it this time by accident and it won't be as spicy next time? Idk. The drink went to waste. I agree that it would be cool if they had some little snacks to purchase. I love that it was busy in there today - mount clemens has been a ghost town forever. The aesthetic is nice- I love the black toilet and sink. Not to mention gender neutral bathrooms! I do not really see myself coming back for a while since I have an espresso machine and can make my own fancy drinks at home and it's much quieter at my house for studying. However once it warms up I'll have to ride my bike up to see if they have any other new additions to the menu.

I was there with my nieces, one of whom is hard of hearing. We were told that we were talking too loud. Apparently, people were trying to read or work. We left for a more inclusive environment. We won't be back.

Best team of baristas. So friendly and helpful with picking out a drink for you. Their pumpkin praline latte is insanely good, I get iced with oat milk for year-round pumpkin joy! Love the black and red decor too, super cool layout with tall, historic ceilings! Lgbt+ friendly environment too!!

Hands down the best place to come to Mt Clemens in.... Forever. The atmosphere is comforting and quaint. Not real loud thankfully, so it is desirable to stay and enjoy your order. The staff is always pleasant and most helpful with suggestions. Always willing to help you find the perfect blend based on your tastes. Highly recommend their dirty chia, London fog, and Paris tea. Their summer blend requires many weekly visits for a cup, I've never had anything so delicious. Prices are acceptable for the service and quality of their product.

This is becoming a once a week stop for me! This week twice! I crave their Lavender Latte and had it iced this week which was amazing with oat milk. Today I needed a pick me up and tried their seasonal latte which is French Toast flavored and it's something they should put on the menu. So delicious! The staff is always welcoming and helpful with my selection. I'm not one for fancy coffee on a daily basis but as a treat I will continue to come here.

Good coffee and great service. Ambiance was pretty cool, different. The reason for the middle of the road review was that the lemon bar I ordered was as hard as a rock.

Overall atmosphere was nice. Didn't received the correct espresso, didn't request the single origin. Also didn't love seeing the barista pet a dog and then go straight into a fridge.

Excellent coffee and cake. Really cute location too and the people were very nice. Definitely recommend this place if you're in downtown Mt. Clemens.

Black Cat is it! I'm not a big "go out and get specialty coffee" kinda girl, and I get seriously overwhelmed - luckily I was with a friend and she recommended something The Cougar or the Mexican, I can't recall exactly, but it was SO GOOD!! I sucked it down so fast, and promptly got a second, this time I took what the barrista recommended and it was ginger bread something - again...SO GOOD!! I woke up yesterday thinking about these coffees... I gotta get back there! You gotta too!! You gotta!!!

I heard about this place from some friends and since it is close to the house we decided to give it a try. I went with the Iced Spicy Cougar. Espresso, dark chocolate, cinnamon, and cayenne. I really enjoyed the flavor. I've always been a fan of the sweet and spicy when it comes to coffee. Similar to a Mexican mocha or something like that. I do think it would have been better hot, but that's on me. I like to drink iced coffee after a certain time of day. The location is cozy and well kept. Seems like a nice quiet spot to go do some work or just hang out. It's nice to see Mt. Clemens having a little resurgence.

Nice shop, nice music and a proper cappuccino! I happened to be in the area and was one coffee shy of becoming a decent human being so I asked Siri to help me out. She did not fail me. Friendly staff that knows what they're doing. The scone was tasty, too! Though I'd rather be enjoying a cappuccino outside the Museo di Borghese in Rome, Black Cat will hold me over until I return. Grazie!

You have to stop in and check this place out. A great must stop for you when downtown Mount Clemens. And for our LGBTQ community... I love the "All Gender" bathroom options. Very clean, very nice staff. We will be back...

Black Cat is a really cool spot. I tried a black coffee and enjoyed it very much. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was perfect for a coffee place. I look forward to coming back.

I myself don't like coffee but I came her for a nice date, and I have to say the vibes were amazing! All the barista's were nice and they had Beautiful coffee art.

Clean and modern with a bit of old world feel. Super friendly crew! Coffees are spot on but would love to see a few more food options. There is so much potential for this to be the cornerstone of a whole new revival for The Clem!

I'm always on the lookout for local coffee shops and so far, this one wins without a doubt. The barista was super friendly, there were a ton of choices (including dairy free and nitro options, and even some food/dessert items!) and our drinks were beyond perfect. Lavender is my absolute favorite; most coffee shops don't have it as an option and when they do, it's barely noticeable. Black Cat had a great lavender latte with almond milk. I left it up to the barista to surprise me hot or iced; he chose hot despite it being a warmer day but I'm glad he did - it couldn't have been better. Service was quick and friendly. And they're open early enough for me to swing by before work! Very happy with this experience and will definitely be back.
