Google
what an amazing place! Good and coffee are both reliably great - I especially love the egg sandwich. the best part is atmosphere - beautiful art, good music, couches for chatting and table space to work. I can’t recommend enough!

Went with a friend a few months ago, and we both loved it. The owner, Ra, was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Our coffee abs pastries were delicious. We sat inside for a while, then decided to sit outside on the cement barrels. They were beautifully painted and have a cool acoustic vibe. I would definitely go back, and recommend to others.

This place was quaint. It was fairly quiet and beautifully. There were African masks as well as what I believe to be baskets as well. I ordered an iced Americano with banana bread. The coffee was smooth and the banana bread was delicious. It had no nuts and was buttery, not too sweet and went well with the coffee. My only request would be for bigger cups. I may not have been as inquisitive but I would prefer larger cups. 4.5 outta 5. (I know I can't do half stars but that's what I sincerely wanted to do.)

Loved the location, decor, and drinks/cake. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. It was not only lovely inside but very clean and so pleasing to look at and enjoy!

The Black Coffee Cafe is a very cozy cafe. I was fortunate to have the owner at the cafe when I was there. He was very friendly and helpful. There are a lot of touches that make the place a real gem for the neighborhood, including all the personal touches that give this place a lot of personality. There is very comfortable seating that invites you to sit and read some of the books they have in the shop for your enjoyment. I flipped through a book on Richard Wright and learned that Orsan Wells had turned Native Son into a Broadway play. Reading that alone made the visit great..

Great, quiet little Cafe in the Northend neighborhood of Detroit. Wonderful sandwiches, made to order. Limited hours, so check first. In the summer check out the unique outdoor seating.

Nice place. Jamaican Beef Patties looked, smelled amazing. Had pour over coffee. A little on the thin side, maybe too much water? But still a good cup. I'll try again.

This has become my favorite coffee spot to visit. I enjoy my London Fog with honey and egg-cheese croissant, as a quick breakfast. They have the best tuna salad. The owner and staff are always a joy to be around. I have sat in there for hours, working on my laptop or just conversing with them. This is an enjoyable place to visit, as well as a great meeting spot.

Yelp
Great service! What a great place! This corner coffee spot is inviting from the inside out. The outdoor murals and seating is eye-catching and eclectic. When you walk in, there are warm hues- African-inspired art, good music, books, and great seating. My caramel latte with coconut milk is delicious. I also ordered a mini sweet potato pie. There are many pastry options and it smells wonderful inside.

Yelp
This is now called Cafe Noir and is much improved. I had a cheese Danish and 16 ounce coffee. Very friendly to all. Street parking in front. Lots of tables and a work counter.

Yelp
Quick, kind service with aromatic coffee. It smells so good in here! My coffee was made perfectly and their cheese danishes are extra flaky with some light syrup glaze on top. Added that extra but still subtle sweetness. Cute aesthetic with decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is so unique with benches in circular booths. Great for groups. Street parking is plenty and it's not metered, which is a plus. Definitely would come back!

Yelp
I loved everything about my first trip to BCC. First off, I found it on accident while I was on my way somewhere else. From the moment a gentleman opened the door for me and said, "Welcome in," I was sold. It's a warm and stunning coffee bar and coworking space, hell a whole vibe space. It's humming with culture from the art on the walls to the people. I had egg and cheese croissants and I'm thinking about desert too. He cracked and scrambled those eggs so good the sandwich never had a chance . The service ,coffee (oatmilk latte with lavender syrup), the food and energy, everything was on the money with this space. I will be back

Yelp
1st time visiting black coffee cafe while on a search to find a spot in the area. It was an inviting space and had a very nice vibe. The woman behind the counter was very friendly. I ordered a chai tea latte as I don't drink coffee while my sister ordered a mocha. I enjoyed my drink however it was waaay to hot. After leaving the cafe I was unable to drink it for at least 20 minutes because it was extremely hot. The sister experienced the same heat with her mocha. I would visit this location again with the mention to the barista to request of the water temperature.

Yelp
I'm giving this place five stars because of its potential and because I want it to succeed but if I were being honest I'd probably give it 4 stars. I really liked the vibe of this cozy, modern, African-centric cafe nestled in a row of shops in the North End neighborhood. When we went about two weeks ago they had a food menu (something cafe-y like pastries, breakfast sandwiches or burritos... I don't remember) but we were told they didn't have food yet because they were still opening the shop. I got the vibe at the time that the barista meant they were still opening the shop in general, like it's a relatively new location, but in hindsight maybe she just meant for the day? Regardless, they had a food menu but no food yet. No biggie. I can't drink caffeinated coffee so I like to order a decaf mocha. They couldn't do decaf espresso drinks though so I ordered a decaf pour over. It was strong but good -- tasted like the ones I make at home. My husband got an oat milk latte but was a little bummed to find, upon sipping it, that it was sweetened oat milk. He prefers his latte to be unsweetened. I realize these are two pretty specific needs/preferences on our part - needing decaf espresso and unsweetened milk. Your average coffee drinker will probably walk away completely satisfied with their drinks. I'm just including these details here in case you have our same, fussy needs. Overall, though, the cafe seems like a nice addition to the area, to Detroit, and we will be going back to support it and to see if there's food next time :)

Yelp
Beautiful space with local artists featured on the wall. I had an iced latte and a sandwich and both were delicious and thoughtfully served (great presentation and really nice staff)

Yelp
Step in the shop and the atmosphere will transform your day. Coffee even not beating everybody around but decent taste with great army of good equipments for great coffee. Keep it up, make good coffee and ppl will recognize your effort. Cheers!

Yelp
The location is great, the interior and exterior are beautiful and they've done a good job making it feel community oriented and welcoming. The coffee was good! Our barista was a bit easily confused and not the friendliest on the planet but they made a good latte and got the job done which is what matters most to me. They were playing music by Black indie artists when we were there which was cool.

Yelp
Lovely service. Best flat white of my life. Charming pastry options, and the cake we chose was excellent. BF got a cold brew, which he enjoyed. The inside has a very comfy but small relaxation area, and a handful of nice, window-lined bar seats. We stayed outside where there's lots more seating. Please come enjoy this jewel and bring only your goodest vibes.

Yelp
Stylish, cozy spot for hot drinks, meetings, and pastries. Indoor and outdoor seating, in a nice walkable area.

Yelp
I am sure many people don't even know this terrific coffee shop is on John R between Chicago and Holbrook. My ONLY complaint is that I did not order a large coffee! Beautifully decorated, service with a beautiful smile, and they had my favorite lavender latte with almond milk! I will be back. It may not be new but it is my favorite new spot.

Yelp
The aesthetic and vibe of this place is dope. Great decor and community feel. However the drinks were not good at all. Latte tasted like it had barely any espresso in it and London Fog just tasted like hot milk. I really want support so please train the baristas so the drinks taste good!

Yelp
Cool concept, good coffee, good food. Only con was just like everyone else, they need more help. Overall good experience

Yelp
Stopped in from work before heading home to check it out. Didn't want coffee as I had already had some but wanted some dessert. Got a piece of 7 up cake with the price clearly marked at $4.50. Came out to $5.80!?!?! Ok so I hand the girl $6.00 and had that awkward moment waiting on my change. She closed up the register! Now I like supporting these type of independent mom and pop businesses but for real. Let me decide if I want to leave a tip but don't keep my money. It would have been no different if I handed her $5.30. She would be waiting on the rest. But if I did that and turned towards the the door now what?. Needless to say I won't go back. First impressions tell me all I need to know
