Black Forest Pies & Grinders

Ordered online for pick up. Ordered large New York thin. It definitely was not New York thin, have ordered from here multiple times so I know the crust was thicker than I’m used to. But the pizza was still good just prefer way less dough!

There is a sit in eating area, but we picked up our food. It was great and large. The people at the counter were very nice. Well worth the money and good food.

Spontaneously stopped by for lunch with my family and was NOT disappointed. The food was amazing. We all ordered different stuff and it was all delicious and fresh. My favorite was the Stromboli!! Only downside we had was the young kid that took our order. He didn't greet us when we came in at all and was not friendly. It was our first time in so we had a few questions and he seemed bothered and didn't want to help or talk to us. The other older gentleman working definitely made up for him though. He was very kind and genuine he delivered our food and checked in a few times. Inside dining is older n little run down but overall would definitely recommend and would go back!

Three stars for atmosphere simply because it is very basic. But I never eat there so it's not an issue. Prices are a bit high, but you get what you pay for. Easily the best pizza in town, full stop. The calzones are amazing too. I understand why places like Little Caesars or Domino's exist, people are cheap. But for an absolutely awesome pizza, Black Forest is the place to go

Would give 0 if I could. Got a gluten free pizza and was told it would be ensured gf. Well that was a lie. Got super sick, and was throwing up for hours. My allergy is not a joke. Don’t offer gluten free options if you aren’t going to actually take the proper precautions. This isn’t just a fad. It’s a legitimate illness that does major damage to the body. The staff is super unprofessional. Never eating here again.

Awesome pizza! Great flavor and the crust so good! Not soggy like many others. The restaurant in Black Forest is cozy but with great character. The staff always friendly. Great place to eat or take out. I couldn't take a picture with the full pie :) so hungry!!!

Enjoyed visiting! Service is great and atmosphere is good. Food was fresh and tasted great. My hubby like his calzone, excellent sausage! I like my wings, just wish they had a little more sauce (and the sauce was more on the bland side). Kuds loved the soda choices. Definitely worth a stop.

This is great pizza! The meats are like nothing you will find in Colorado Springs. Incredible sauce and top level cheese.

What an amazing experience! Came here with three little kids for lunch and everything was perfect- interior was bright and clean, patio was shaded, there was even a reserved parking sign for Subarus only Staff were friendly and the menu has a variety of options to please the whole family. We enjoyed the soft Frank Sinatra music while waiting for our food, and were pleasantly surprised when kids meals were delivered first to keep everyone happy. Cheese pizza review from child: "this pizza is sooo good I could eat the whole thing!" Fries review from toddler: "that's a good fry and them is called French fries!" Hot Italian sandwich had fresh crispy romaine lettuce and tomatoes- I struggle finding vegetables that fresh even at the grocery store. Very flavorful! They brought out a complimentary Sasquatch cookie for the kids at the end, which was also amazing. Can't wait to return!

Went here a week ago. Husband wanted to give this place one last try. We had points on our credit card and wanted to use those toward the purchase. Magically the points were gone with no explanation. Ordered a large pizza. It was slimy and uncooked in the middle, toppings were sparse, the whole thing was greasy and not edible. I called 2 days later as it seemed I should not have to pay $35 for a pizza that is not edible. I was told to bring in my receipt that week. I did so, and was then told they do not do any refunds unless you bring back your receipt and pizza the very day you ordered it. A well run business would not have such a policy and would have at least offered to replace it or refund it. Neither happened. We will not be ordering from this establishment ever again. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Ordered several pizzas to go for a large group. Overall meh. Crust dense and a bit hard. Not a lot of cheese. They were very stingy on toppings and not uniformly spread. Pepperonis had pieces with one or none. Sausage and pepperoni had maybe 6 pieces of sausage total on a large pie.

Not so good. Bland wantabe.... Chicken parmigiana was not good. Looked good, so bland and needed help. Disappointed!

Chicken wings are SOOO good!!! Pizza too. Will definitely be back to try the sandwiches. Husband thought it was super cool they had canned lemonade lol

Absolutely outstanding pizza!!! And that's not an easy thing for me to say at all, but holy cow!!! Fantastic!!! We will definitely be back next year, great job!!!

This place was ok. Kinda heartbreaking because it seems like it would be a great place. I ordered the cheesesteak. The meat was not flavorful at all and there was not a lot of cheese. The fries...meh. Might come again to try out the more Italian offerings.

Stopped by this strip mall food joint on the way home from our veterinarian. We knew it was fast food, but wanted something quick and easy. Ordered a meatball grinder and a spicy pork grinder from a pleasant young man . While waiting about 8 minutes for our order several others came in to order or pick up an order. All the people were repeat customers and seemed happy to be there. We ordered to-go but there was plenty of spacious seating on the side & back. Strangely there were no adults there to supervise but the kids had it all under control even as it hot busier. They were all nice and helping each other get it done. Got our food home and it was still hot & delicious ! The restaurant needs some sprucing up, but the food can't be beat. Only reason they didn't get 5 stars was because nobody wore gloves & I feel they need to. Still we will be back to stuff our faces again.

Ordered a large supreme NY well done and a medium garlic chicken (also well done NY thin). We order from them often but this was our first time ordering the Supreme. OH WOW! Perfectly cooked and sooo tasty! Also want to give props because their jalapeño poppers were probably the best we've had in years, and their wings (double fried) were We used to live on the East Coast so finding good pizza is tough in Colorado Springs (especially in Black Forest) so when we find something good, it needs to be recognized. Great job Pies and Grinders!

why the heck is the dining room closed. you guys close at 9pm and your dining room is closed at 7:40? make that make sense. plus we walk in and say hello how are you guys doing. and we get nothing back besides a blank stare. why do you guys also have almost every single light off in the place. you guys are just asking for zero business. we gladly went somewhere else.

I have ordered from Black Forest pies and grinders many times. Today will be the last. I placed an online order and never received an email so I called the store to make sure they received my order since I did not receive a confirmation. I was told I did receive an email (I did not, I actually received it 10 min later) I ordered over a hour early for a 4PM pickup and they tell me they can't have it ready in time when I called about the email. Ok life happens, but the point is how rudely I was treated. I will spend my money elsewhere. All their prices have gone up anyway.

Tried it once again...we quit. Ordered for pickup, was told an hour. Went to pick up, waited an extra hour. When it was finally "ready we find out they had refrigerated our hot sides. ‍ Asked for well done on the pizzas, the cheese wasn't even hardly melted. Had to stick it in the oven. We try to support local, especially here in the forest.... but I guess pizza will be coming from the springs from not on.

Once again, Black Forest Pies and Grinders has done it: the perfect thin crust pizza and wings! When I want a quality pie this is where I go! I am consistently impressed their pizza and customer service. I called in fir a pick-up on a Saturday night, of course they are busy, but they are honest with how long it will be when my pie is ready. Tonight it was going to be an hour, I set a timer for 45 minutes and left when it went off. I had a 15 minute drive and when I got there, it was a minute out from being done. You can't be mad at that! I got it home and it was perfect as usual! Plus their customer Is always on point- friendly and nice.

After seeing the reviews, I stopped in partly out of curiosity.. must've been the right time, cuz there was no crazy mgr throwing insults, and the food was awesome. Everyone was polite. There was a 30 min wait for the food, but that's because they make it fresh. Worth it to not have reheated or microwaved old food.

Ordered Pizza for pick up, was told 30 min and I showed up about 35 min later. The place was chaos, after waiting 15 min I was told they gave my pizza to someone else and I had to wait another 15 min to get my order. 1 pizza was cold, the other under cooked. I'll go somewhere else as the pizza isn't that good and the jerks running the place can't even keep orders straight. The guy at the cash register actually said I can't control what they do back there, don't be mad at me. Meanwhile Dions on Powers has never let me down!

We've been loyal pies customers for 7 years now. Tonight we got wings, fries and mushrooms from the Black Forest Location. We were so disappointed. The boxes weren't labeled as to which wings were hot or mild. The fries weren't salted. Then when we bit into the wings most were barely done inside and some weren't done. Pies wings use to be our favorite. Unless something changes they either need to do away with wings now or step up their game.

Love this place! Their fried pickles are amazing. The Black Forest location is our go to for pizza and wings. Try them out, you won't regret it! Grab a cookie too, they aren't advertised but are delicious.

Bahaha, paper thin pan pizza. it is quite the feat. We even asked if that was really pan when we picked it up. We were assured that paper thin crust was pan. Maybe the workers are confused.

Great local restaurant! Great selection and good prices too! I highly recommend the hot Italian sub with fries!

I stopped there and ordered 2 sandwiches and some wings. There was hardly anybody in the place so I waited in the front. 40 minutes later I asked to see the manager as I wanted my money back as I hadn't gotten anything yet. He came out, rung up a credit on my card and tossed it to me. He didn't say "I'm sorry about this, let me make this right", "Please come back and give us another chance", or "Kiss my ass, there's the door". Absolutely nothing. I will never go back to this location again!

Saw on TV today, thought let's give a try. Didnt look up reviews, just came..walked in no one there but one small family waiting on food. Ordered lunch special and 10 wings...asked for cup for lunch special was growled at and told I didn't ask for special, saw special at 8.99..and he charged me w out soda 8.49. I said I did but ok, here's cup anyway. I found soda fountain and went to car. Grabbed my purse to get a dollar, but on counter only to be snarled at again. Waiting on food. About a 3 star on food...At time when restaurants are struggling and supposedly they did fund raising for other businesses you would think CUSTOMER SERVICE is a must!! It wasn't today!

Where to start? I woke up today craving something good, and fed up with my usual spots. Living in Calhan, everywhere is a drive for me, so I figured I would give this place a shot. My wife and I both got phillys, I also got 10 terryaki wings, and an order of fried ravioli. Don't judge me! Lol AnywY, back to the food....everything was still hot after my 30min drive home. The wings are fat, and juicy, and the sauce seems to be homemade. Top 3 best wings I've had in the area. Fried ravioli also seem to be made in house, they were breaded and didn't have that noticeable "frozen" taste. The phillys are huge, well cooked, and well seasoned. I heard they are opening another location, and I hope it is just as good! I will definitely be back, worth the drive!

Food was ok. Pizza had way too much sauce. Salad was lame, romaine lettuce with cheese black olives and tomorrow's served on a metal pizza tray. Wings didn't have much flavor and were very wet/greasy inside. Biggest thing was the manager could be heard swearing about other customers while talking to coworkers. He mocked the customers as they walked out of the door "see ya turd burglar" made the indoor dining experience very uncomfortable.

I can't give enough credit to this business. We had to put our dog down today, and they were so kind. They wouldn't let us pay for our food, and the lady was extraordinary... I wish I knew her name. Definitely couldn't ask for more kindness or better service. Thank you so much!!!

Lazy workers , food is always late , pizza was way over done , I was in the store and they never called my name , they knew I was there , pizza say the the shelf for 15 minute

Solidly Good. Not great. Dinner in a pinch. All a visitor needs solid. Good enough is good enough!

Used to be our favorite, now we'd rather drive into town than deal with this place. The customer service has gone way down and is consistently poor. Last time the order was wrong, we called and got someone who acted like the mistake was our fault. The manager was busy at another store, needless to say we never got the order we wanted that night. When the manager called us the next day he was not customer service oriented. Tonight we ordered delivery which took nearly 2 hours to arrive, when we called the store to see what happen to our order the worker had zero customer service. Louie's breadsticks are a hands down win over here. Sad to say but this place has ZERO customer service for mediocre food. Step up the game with customer service and quality. Remember your customers keep you in business so take care of the ones you've got!!!!!

Continues do go downhill with respect to wait time. This is probably the 5th or 6th time since last review a year ago where I waited WELL beyond the originally estimated time. Great food...probably not "2 hours for pickup" great. Especially after being told "an hour & 15 mins" on the phone. I guess the only reason I keep going back is that I hope the owners pull it together & unf*** what this brand has become. The workers, for what it's worth, are friendly & they are working their butts off to make this work, it seems. It's not like they're all just slouching around. I imagine the employee turnover is pretty high because they're tired of staring at a whole lobby of unhappy customers. Again, not a restaurant owner, but there must be some way to get food out in under 2 hours. They most certainly do in Philly.

Great pizza, horrible customer service. Often times hear fighting from the kitchen. Disorganized and unable to handle a busy snowy night. Did not offer any sort of "sorry we are late" instead met with nasty comments by an older employee with brown hair and glasses.

I really wanted to like this place. Especially since it is on the way home from my son's new school and we were planning to stop in frequently. I went in by myself to try it out, and my first visit is my last. I dined in, and it was later in the evening. Most of the tables were very dirty, and it was hours after dinnertime. So, got it, cleaning is not on the staff's radar. The place is really run down, too. The condiments on the table (salt, pepper, parm, red pepper) were sticky as well. Eewwww! My Caesar salad had lettuce with brown and black parts on it. Didn't eat that. The cheesesteak had a burnt taste to it, like they don't scrape or clean their flattop. The roll was good. So, again, seems like no one is on top of cleanliness and food safety. It was eerily quiet in there. No music or sound on the TVs. That let me overhear the staff in the kitchen during my entire meal. One staff member was continuously yelling "F**k" for some reason! Glad I didn't bring my son. This is what happens when someone says, "I think I'll start a restaurant!"

Used to order from them every other week. Still good pizza. However, they messed up an order (not a big deal to me), but then they were mad at me when I had proof of when and what I ordered. The final straw was they were angry with the front girl for giving my money back when I showed her I was right. Haven't been back.

Yum yum yum! That crust! We tried their taco and their cheese pizza. Not sure I'd have the taco again as it was just ok but we can't wait to try another traditional style pie. Their crust is so very tasty and has a great texture. Was cooked just right. They are very busy so you may have to wait longer but they were all wearing gloves/masks and once you paid they brought it out to your car. We'll be back.

Nope-never again. We will never be coming back here again. Mediocre food it one thing, but a screaming, rude man in the kitchen, whom I'm assuming was the owner, was so so so rude. How unprofessional can you be to stand in the kitchen and scream at your employees and customers? The Stromboli was greasy. The Calzone was dripping with watery substance. The Italian sausage sandwich had no cheese and was extremely plain. The added hair did nothing to help the grinder at all. Food had no flavor. Cups for fountain drinks were all sticky and gross. The girl who delivered a portion of our food was covered head to toe in flour. The other portion of our food was never delivered to our table. We had to go and ask for it and it was just sitting in the back I a to-go container. I'd rather make the drive to Dion's or Paninos.

The food was very good, I initially was surprised at the price having only ordered fried pickles, cheese sticks, and cheese bread. Upon opening the boxes I realized how much food we actually got and was pleasantly surprised, as the cheese bread seemed to be a small pizza cut up and stacked into the box. The kiddo loved it all as did the girlfriend and myself, definitely worth it if you need good food in black forest.

I have been here several times in the past. Pizza is ok for the money. However, last night I ordered a pie and it was CRAP. I don't know if it was a bad night there or if the food has gone completely down hill since the last time I ordered there. Horrible!

I love it ! My kids loved it and my partner loved it amazing to have good reviews from everyone. I even thing our dogs loved it of course we gave them some crust. So the pizza is flavorful love the fact they use real jalapeños on the pizza. The wings are even good! You know how some pizza places have nasty soggy wings this place doesn't even posted a picture to prove it and show the quality of the pizza. The wait wasn't to bad, we ordered on a Tuesday night we chose to pick up because the delivery wait was to long. The service was good and the guy was very nice, young boy I didn't get his name but this will be our go to pizza place from now on. Love to find quality pizza ! This is it

So, my wife and drive by the restaurant daily on our way to work, and it had been quite awhile since we ate there. We packed up the family and went with the intention of dining in. When we arrived, we could barely get through the door with all the people standing there for their take out order. That should have been a clue as to what to expect. We place our order for a Stromboli, fries and a grinder to share, and was told it was going to be an hour for out food. Not wanting to load up, leave black forest and go into Monument or the Springs we decided this was going to be dinner good or bad. After waiting an hour, the food still wasn't ready, and took another 15 minutes. When we finally got it, the Stromboli and the marinara sauce was cold, and the sandwich, to my surprise was literally was like 6 inches. A little shocked for a $9 sandwich. I should have ordered more food, as we left hungry, but we weren't going to re-order. We sent the strobili back, and they re-heated it, and we then dipped it into cold marinara. You can see where my overall impression is going. I can't imagine any restaurant anywhere with a dine in option getting away with the "It will be an hour for you dinner" and people just sitting there waiting. Well I did it once, but will never darken their doorway again.

Darn good pizza, and for the price it can't be beat. We had the Supreme and Hawaiian. Both were delicious, and hot when we got them home. Also, they deliver! We've now been there several times. Between the service, the taste and the price, this just can't be beat!

Best pizza around. Don't even bother with the chain restaurants anymore like Pizza Hut Domino's and Papa John's not worth it when you can go to this great pizza place. I do recommend checking your order is correct before you leave sometimes they do make mistakes that's normal they are human. Really wish they would deliver to Meridian Ranch.

Ordered one pizza for delivery just now, and they totally got the orderwrong. Not a fan for the price. I'll just order domino's next time. Update: food is good. First time I ordered, pizza and wings were great. Second time, got the wrong pizza. Third time, I ordered from a different location and I received the right order, although they forgot the soda. They brought it later. Okay place.
