Google
Good latte. Good food. Really cool spot with plenty of seating. Only complaint is it might be time to let some of the worn out furniture pieces go :) Otherwise friendly staff and environment. I like the fresh fruit option! Definitely recommend this spot.

Google
My friend’s roommate told me about this coffee shop because we are all caffeine addicts. I ran out of coffee beans last week, so I came to buy some today. The beans smell good and are high-quality. I strongly recommend them! The vibe in this coffee shop is chill. I will come here again to enjoy my afternoon with a fantastic coffee and snacks.

Google
Cashier was really sweet, however there was one staff member that I apologized for having my drink on the table and picked it up for them to spray cleanser (less than 2 ft from my drink), received no acknowledgement beyond an eye roll and a huff. Guess they could tell I wasn't from the area. It was recommended in the Houston Café Passport. Drove from the other side of the city because the vibes were the highlight in the passport. Didn't feel it. Actually packed my things and left to go to another recommended cafè. All that said, the vegan breakfast burrito was really good. Just get it to go! EDITED: I received notification that the owner responded, well not really, just a thumbs up. Because I checked their response, I checked out some of the other reviews. I realized I am very generous with my rating. Definitely made me realize I need to be more accurate with my reviews. By the way, if you don't want to purchase the Houston Cafè Passport, follow me. I am giving reviews on all of the coffee shops in Houston that are in the passport! Best of luck everyone!

Google
Rustic, neighborhood coffee shop I tried the Maté latte and couldn’t taste much of coffee flavor. It was very reminiscent of milk (black) tea. Service was solid - staff are friendly. Atmosphere: I mostly go to coffee shops to study / work and Black Hole isn’t my favorite for that. The wifi is limited to a couple hours. There’s different seating but the places along the wall sockets feature harder surfaces, which are uncomfortable to sit on. The building is on the older side and feels damp and cold.

Nestled in Houston’s cozy Black Hole Coffeehouse the mocha decaf is a delightful treat—rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. Paired with the gluten-free cookie, which is buttery with a hint of salt, it’s a match made in heaven. The street parking is convenient, and the ambiance is relaxed, ideal for a late afternoon unwind. Whether studying or catching up with friends, this spot hits the mark. Five stars well-deserved for quality and charm!

Google
Coffee was great at a very reasonable price. Blueberry muffin was fine. Would’ve been better heated maybe? Atmosphere was great for working. Very quiet. Tables near plugs were a bit small, but overall would definitely come here again!

Google
Black Hole is my favorite coffee spot in Houston. I highly recommend getting an iced latte with their new cardamom syrup, or a frozen lemonade if it’s a hot day. My partner swears by their nitro cold brew. Lots of space to sit inside and outside, with WiFi for those who need to get some work done. Nice food options - I love the vegan breakfast burritos and the chickpea sandwich. Service is always great - Cley, Collin, Greg and Andy are all the best!

Google
Stumbled across this cute little coffee house when I was out checking out the area. I got a homemade Matcha with almond milk latte and it was to die for. I don’t know what kind of almond milk they use, but I am addicted and I cannot stop thinking about that drink. Needless to say, I think I need to go and invest in another one soon. I also got the little blueberry muffin and it was so good. I definitely recommend trying this little place out. The atmosphere is peaceful everyone so humble and down to earth and the quality is fresh and amazing.

Yelp
This is my 1st time here. Previous reviews said this place is quiet. I must agree. However a few folks came in after a while and ramped up conversation. But I still think it's more quiet than other coffee shops I've been. Nice relaxing atmosphere. They offer some Vegan Baked Goods that aren't bad. In order to use their WiFi to work, surf, etc. you have to purchase something. To login you need your receipt code and the amount of your purchase. Nice playlist being played in the background to add to the ambiance. Don't bring cash. "Contactless Payment Only."I will most definitely be back.

Yelp
Very good Cubano and excellent Golden Latte, (think turmeric and ginger). Very eclectic inside, but could use some upkeep. Grumpy staff while ordering. Maybe he needs some good coffee.

Yelp
A place I've been dying to say is worth returning to. We swing by maybe twice a year. But the 'tude that comes in spurts has GOT to go. It doesn't seem to let up, so we're over Black Hole. We were making Easter coffee plans, so I wanted to call spots ahead of time to avoid any disappointments and to set up a Plan B and C just in case our first choice was closed or super packed. We shortlisted Black Hole...as our Plan B. Notice I didn't say "Plan A". That's because of our first-impression experience I've been white-knuckling the urge NOT to share because of the communication style I just went through by phone today. So, I called Black Hole up about an hour ago. A female picked up. Before I could say anything - not even a quick friendly "hey" or "how are ya?" I heard her say "yeah, we're open", and she hung up the phone. I. Kid. You. Not. "Yeah, we're open" then the phone went "click". Girl was in character as if we were on take 3 of scene 27 with Blane, Watts, and Spicoli hangin' out on set. The thing about it was, there were no Hollywood cameras, bitchin' soundtrack, or hearthrobs anywhere near this customer-employee exchange. Just the stench of cooler-than-thou which hung heavy in the silence of a call I know I didn't disconnect. Whatever. We've been doing slow-cooker cajeta since the pandemic, and we're not new to baking either. We're definitely steppin' out for Easter tomorrow, but never again with Black Hole Coffee House. Strike two's enough for us. L8er, Sk8ers.

Yelp
It's is a great place to work/study from because they have plenty of tables and some plugs! I had the iced lavender latte and it was pretty good. They also have free parking in front of the establishment!

Ian W.

Yelp
Buy a drink to use WiFi for an hour and then you buy another one to keep the WiFi after it expires. Personally a hard pass for me if I'd know this. Spreading awareness to whoever looking for a coffee shop to work at. Also table the size of my laptop. Man this place is legit one of the worst I have been to

Twanda D.

Yelp
These people make the best coffee in Houston. The staff are rockstars with customer service and smiles. The atmosphere motivates creativity. I will always stop for the antidote

Jessica G.

Yelp
We live in Spring and were trying to purchase a specific bag of coffee. We called ahead to see if they had it in stock and they said yes. We loaded the kids in the car and made the hour drive to Black Hole only to find they didn't have it out. We asked an employee and they were very short about "if it's not out then we don't have it". We explained that we called ahead and someone said they had it. They didn't even care. Absolutely unacceptable.
google avatar

Katia G.

Yelp
Server at the counter was rude. Coffee was warm and not hot. Food was marginal. Nothing special particularly with rudeness and incivility. We are not coming back. If I could I would give it a zero star. It's truly a black hole... of negativity.
google avatar

Megan L.

Yelp
I came here on a busy Saturday morning and enjoyed a flavorful iced cardamom latte. For around $5, I felt it was reasonably priced, and service was prompt. There were plenty of people studying and chit-chatting, with ample seating both inside and outside. The parking lot itself is small, but there was ample street parking. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a pick-me-up in the area.
google avatar

Varsha V.

Yelp
Got the iced cajeta latte, which was great! Definitely on the sweeter side for those that like that. Plenty of seating inside and outside and street parking is close
google avatar

Masen Y.

Yelp
Everything I want from a coffee shop. Bold flavorful iced americano made from tasty fair trade beans. Plenty of cosy seating and work areas and cool ambiance. $3.81 for small americano.
google avatar

Caroline R.

Yelp
I hadn't come here in years, since it's out of the way for me but I wanted to give it a shot again since I remember the coffee being pretty good. However, now I remember why I hadn't been back. The coffee is not worth the bad attitude that you get when you come here. The barista was just straight up rude with us, and it was definitely uncalled for. To top it off, we didn't get nitro cold brew like we ordered; it was regular cold brew. Don't see myself coming back again after this experience.
google avatar

Haniyyah B.

Yelp
Best iced caramel latte I've ever had! Starbucks who?? The service was quick and loved the vibe of small groups socializing on a Saturday morning. As a heads up, they are cashless. Bonus: there was a taco truck in the parking lot the morning I came.
google avatar

Matthew J.

Yelp
I ordered the golden latte with soy milk and cajeta syrup, and I loved it. The cajeta syrup had this sweet and spicy flavor that made this drink stand out. It was the perfect amount of spiciness, not too much that I'd wouldn't drink the latte, but not too little that I barely notice the spice. As is usually the case with these shopping outlets with limited parking, it would be better to walk to this location if you can. Graustark Laundry, the business just to the right of this coffee shop, just put out a "Reserved Parking Only" towing enforced sign in the same space I was in. Additionally, there is no parking garage to alleviate this issue. If you drive here and you don't have any parking spaces available, you're out of luck. Although the line of customers went relatively smooth, don't expect to pop in and pop out before work and expect to make it on time. It seems like they could do with an extra person on staff to reduce time spent waiting in line. There was a long line of customers at the time I went (~9 am on Saturday), and the limited number of staff can't keep up with demand. If you are getting a baked good, ask if they can heat it up first. I neglected to do this before writing my review, but if they can't, then it's another mark against them.
google avatar

Brittany M.

Yelp
Chai was delicious. Iced chai is hard to get right and they did it perfectly. The spice was spicing, the milk ratio was on just right, sweetness was just right. Cute neighborhood spot with lots of outdoor seating. The down side: The servers in the front were very nice to the guy in front of me who seemed like a regular but there were pretty cold to me. I would come back but I know now not to expect pleasantries. It almost seemed like I was annoying them which maybe I was because I was struggling to use my gift card.

Yelp
Can I do a review each day of this month? I'm going for it. Nothing to do with Black Hole Coffee House, but here we are. Andy! He was the barista preparing the drinks and taking the orders. He was very personable, and customer-focused. He asked me my name and expressed hopefully he'll see me again next week. Well just for that, I'll be back Andy. There were a few customers that were clearly frequent flyers and to me that speaks volumes. There was one customer who shared her go to drinks with me and also stated you can't go wrong here. Friendly people. Kind people. The inside has a plethora of seating options, so I imagine people are able to get lots of studying/reading/work done. I'll be returning. And yes the coffee was delicious. Oh, and a customer stated that stay open late also- very helpful. Ohhhh and there's beer, wine, and a happy hour! Come on now. See y'all again, soon.

Yelp
I was looking for a place to work and stumbled upon black hole. Plenty of parking which is great, but that's where the greatness ends. I ordered an iced latte with their house palm sugar vanilla syrup, and I didn't taste it or the espresso at all. The "iced latte" was basically just a cup of cold milk. To top it off, the barista wasn't very nice. I asked a couple questions and he acted like I was inconveniencing him when the menu board literally said "ask the barista" for more information on happy hour specials. He may have just been having a bad day, but it was really frustrating for me as a customer. The icing on the cake and why I will likely not be back is the fact that the Wi-Fi is only good for an hour with a purchase. I understand the concept of wanting people to make multiple purchases and not just camp out for the whole day, but an hour seems really short to me. They don't have a ton of different options and I can't imagine ordering a coffee every hour to be able to work the whole day. Plenty of seating though - and I think I understand why now.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
Haven't been here in a long while. Looks like much of the furniture has been updated with new, yet still with the mid century vibe. Other changes is the handicap parking dab smack in front and the WIFI internet has changed...Probably for the better No longer can you get unlimited Wi-Fi. It's 2 hours with a purchase. I think it will cut down on the campers who fill the place and slow the Wi-Fi down for the deserving like me. If you plan to stay there be sure to ask for a cup/mug instead of the paper cups. It makes your coffee taste and look better.
google avatar

Melina B.

Yelp
I loved this cafe! Plenty of room for studying, even from 10-11 when it was busy this morning. The music wasn't too loud, and the cozy atmosphere was great for me to focus. Bathroom was clean and quirky, with pennies in resin on the floor. They had such a wide array of options; from Cuban espresso to cold brew, with plenty of decaf selections, which I appreciate! Price range was $3-5 for most beverages. Black Hole even had wine and beer options- not just coffee! I'll be back to study in the quiet weekend mornings.
google avatar

Ann S.

Yelp
On a Friday late afternoon, it's busy. Like 95% occupied inside. Towards the evening, there's less people. There's outdoor seating with a big fan. Recommend cajeta latte for coffee drinkers. It has a nice flavor. Parking in front of the coffee shop is limited but street parking is available. It's located in a nice residential area. If you need quietness, this isn't the place for that. It's a mix of people working on their laptops and having discussions with friends/associates. The bathrooms are decent and not filthy. One thing that sucks is the wifi is limited to 1 hour. Also, there is a limited amount of outlets.
google avatar

Allie L.

Yelp
Pretty good cafe that seems to be where all the locals study/work. I am going to guess this is where the students from the nearby university comes to study. They have lots of couches and tables that made it great for our group to hang out while visiting Houston. The private parking lot made parking hassle-free and safe with our rental car. I also appreciated that they offered non-dairy creamers including soy, almond, and oat milk. Best part--they also had wine on the menu. My friend who ordered it said it's not bad.

Louie P.

Yelp
Very nice place, very laid back, and great for studying/getting work done. Lots of tables.
google avatar

Arsalan A.

Yelp
Great coffee shop! I loved their coffee! As a student, I did like the vibes to study here as they were playing instrumental music and there were plenty of outlets. The service was good too! The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is I wish they had more food options.
google avatar

Tye R.

Yelp
Decided to walk over while in Houston visiting since I was on a mission to hit as many local coffee shops as possible. Glad I came here. The dirty chai here is smooth and I added Toffee Nut syrup. A little birdie told me their syrups are made in house and let's just say this syrup tastes like love lives here. I also picked up an oatmeal raisin cookie which is baked like it has a lot of butter ... what's better than that? They have some grab and go sandwiches in the case and had a few vegan food options when I stopped by. I'll definitely be back next time im in Houston.

Ariel H.

Yelp
I really enjoy trying different coffee shops but will not be returning to Black Hole Coffee House. The barista at the register acted as though he was being inconvenienced by my asking for recommendations. It is possible that he was having a rough morning but please refrain from working the register if you aren't a people person. The cup lids are ill fitting and resulted in coffee being dripped down my entire outfit. For the price of the drinks, the cup should be of better quality. I ordered a brown sugar latte, mediocre at best. The barista recommended it as the sweetest latte they have but it didn't taste like coffee nor was it sweet -- just a cup of milk and ice. The microwave, toaster, and seating was not to my liking and made the place feel like a unkept break room at work.
google avatar

Lorraine I.

Yelp
The drink is .... A no At least for matcha latte Please skip this one The service is ok More like a neighborhood cafe The store is organized I bet this is Texas, and pretty big Plenty of people are working down here

George C.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee houses. It's laid back and there's plenty of space to work. It's got bicycle parking so you don't have to drive if you live close by. They have non caffeinated drinks if you are trying to keep regular hours. Else they have the stuff to keep you going. It's more of a chill crowd. Most people are concentrating on their tasks. I think the crowd outside tends to be more chatty - at least they seem so. I go again and again even though I'm probably way out of their usual demographic.

Emilio G.

Yelp
Got a vanilla hazelnut latte and my friend got a cajeta latte, both coffees were lackluster in flavor. (Mine was still warm on the bottom and cold on top.) Service was not great, not very welcoming, but the ambiance is good, very low lighting, if you're going to write on paper you better sit under a light, I couldn't even see my keyboard and had to turn the keyboard light on. Overall, it is an okay place, nothing special.
google avatar

Keith S.

Yelp
Pkasters! I had to up my rating because this spot was what I needed after 9pm. Light crowd, good coffee, and a nice spot for a wannabe writer. Come thru and tell them Pk sent you

April O.

Yelp
Rude baristas every time. Not sure why there is always an attitude with them. Hopefully the service improves because it's nice having a neighborhood coffee stop.
google avatar

Daisy A.

Yelp
Pretty nice coffee house! Came on a Saturday morning with a friend and was able to find parking (usually packed and have to resort to street parking). The staff is friendly and the place is quaint and cutesy. I had a mocha latte and it was pretty good. The ham croissant was decent tasting, but pretty good size. They have a little shop in the back corner to buy coffee grounds, drinks, shirts, etc from. They have tables and couches inside (some with plug ins for electronics nearby), and a few tables outside!

Preeti S.

Yelp
I used to come here a lot during my time in Houston. Cutesy coffee shop and good coffee, but wifi is only good for one hour so not a great place if you're trying to camp here for work.
google avatar

Austin J.

Yelp
Noisy and crowded. Coffee was tasty though and there is plenty of parking. I heard there are wifi restrictions from other reviews so if that's true, that is not good.

Obed S.

Yelp
Food, Coffee and service were not what I was expecting. Ill start with the coffee I ordered a matcha latte and a cubano, the latte tasted more milk than matcha and had very little taste of matcha as for the cubano it was non existent what I mean is that there was very little coffee in the cup. The food is the best because I love how cold the pastry was, not even room temperature just straight cold, a nice gesture would be to warm up the pastry in the microwave but I guess that doesn't come with the service. Last but not least was the service I mean come on if I wanted a dour look and attitude to go with it I would have gone to the dmv but I guess I'll settle for the Black Hole Coffee House cashier instead.
google avatar

Roma B.

Yelp
Cozy coffee shop, came by to study on a weekday morning. Downside is that Wifi access is only for 2 hours, must purchase an item to access it as there's a wifi code on the receipt. The coffee shop has pastries, but there's also a food truck in the parking lot if you want to order tacos. Got the hot chocolate, it was a bit pricey, but good!

Bill C.

Yelp
The coffee cake, cinnamon roll, muffins and bagels are dry and not eatable. I've been here 3 times and each time it was terrible. Also, the service staff are rude and not customer friendly. It's on a bike path and not bike friendly. There are better places close by.
google avatar

Enna J.

Yelp
Love that this coffee shop is open late. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere and seating for studying/working. They also sell a few household and grocery items. The only thing was that being that it was 'late' (8pm) the food options were scarce. The mocha is VERY chocolatey - which was cool for me but maybe too much for others.
google avatar

Greg L.

Yelp
Total hole black hole coffee shop. I used to go when I was at UST I can't believe it's still there now with al the apartments and condos around it. Very solid coffee and barista. I am a coffee snob and don't put any sugar in my coffee so if you have it up i can tell.
google avatar

Cassandra M.

Yelp
Was scrolling through some of the reviews and the review about the very indifferent customer service was indented on me and I couldn't help but notice it happen to my friend. He told her ordering a drink hot would make it easier for him... weird However he didn't give me an odd comment so I'll put a star back for that but that's definitely offputting to tell your customers. I got the iced cajeta latte and it was super delicious, so smooth, not watery, deliciously sweet but not like sipping straight sugar. Has a slight caramel taste! Would definitely get again. Vibes were clean and hipster. They also offer pastries and alcohol. Parking is pretty limited.
google avatar

Adam H.

Yelp
Best dirty chai latte I have had!! Ordered it iced with half ice and it was delicious nicely spiced not too sweet. Came to about $5 (Starbucks pricing?) The atmosphere of the cafe is welcoming quarky on the inside. The patio is very cute and low key. Great for a quiet date or a relaxing morning to yourself.
google avatar

Jacob S.

Yelp
Coffee is good. Workers are helpful and nice. But not ideal for someone that wants to stay a while to study/work/read. They require you to use your receipt code to use the internet and then your internet will go out on you after a certain amount of time requiring you to put in a NEW code, so you're forced to make another purchase. The vibe is great, but seems like nickel and dime situation -- leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
google avatar

Jennifer A.

Yelp
Went here with my good friend who was in town for Easter weekend. Parking was super easy. Cool vibe on the inside with plenty of seating. Great service. I had a tasty iced lavender latte and coconut bar. I also tried their peanut butter cookie which was ok. Just a little too crunchy like it had been left in the oven too long and not soft enough for my liking. The weather was nice so we sat on the patio which was relaxing & chill. Overall it was a great experience.
google avatar

Pilar S.

Yelp
Visited a few times. The Cajeta Latte is a must ! Their chocolate chip cookie is worth a try

Laurel S.

Yelp
This is my favorite coffee place in Houston! I travel all over and whenever I return I am always so happy to come back to Black Hole for my delicious oat milk latte--I have not found a better one in Houston, the state of Texas, or any other state or country I have travelled! Their coffee and even their special barista oat milk are unparalleled. I also love their coffee just black. The cajeta latte is special and a favorite of many friends. The staff is very friendly and knows my order before I enter. I enjoy getting work done at Black Hole as well. Although you only get wifi for an hour, by the time an hour is up I want to get more coffee anyway. The hours are also very convenient, 6:30am-10pm every day. Thank you Andy, Cley, and the rest of the Black Hole team!
google avatar

Tyrone C.

Yelp
Ambiance . Service was friendly . I had desert a huge cinnamon roll coffee and tea were bomb

Heather L.

Yelp
I've been to Black Hole a few times, and I order a Cortado with "very little vanilla." The first time, it was too sweet but I drank it anyway. The second time I modified my order and said, "Please use very little vanilla, like less than half the amount of vanilla," and it came out okay. That worked a few times, but then I came back today. I ordered the same thing and it tasted like double the amount of vanilla than usual. After explaining I've gotten this many times before, I requested a redo, and the employee responded, "We don't do that here." After asking for clarification, they said, "We don't remake drinks for reasons like that." I tried to clarify again that I've gotten it before and that it has never been this sweet and they just repeated the same lines over and over. There was no apathy in their voice at all and, seemingly, they didn't care. Customer service isn't that hard, and for that treatment, this is the last time I'll go there. A shame because I do like to support local businesses. As for the ambiance, it's fine. The couches are as comfortable as ones you'd get from a garage sale and another recent review said it best, "the place feels like an unkept break room at work."

Stephen P.

Yelp
Pretty run of the mill $5 coffee outlet in Houston. Consider Siphon Coffee instead of this place. The staff at black hole kinda sucks - I like to be acknowledge after buying my $5 coffee. So if i say thank you 3 times progressively louder it'd be sweet to here a you're welcome, or even a no problem! Coffee shops are communal and when you get shit birds behind the register it dampers the mood, for me at least... the owner of Siphon is always extra polite and genuinely friend... go there it's in the same area!
google avatar

Guadalupe C.

Yelp
TLDR; GREAT CAJETA LATTE We were visiting Houston and found this cute little spot by the local museum. We went in and it was a quintessential local coffee shop. It has that real coffee shop feel. It doesn't feel like a hyper curated spot. I got the large cajeta latte and it was sooooooo good! If you love a good sweet drink this is most def it and the prices don't break the bank!
google avatar

Joe R.

Yelp
Nice local coffee spot. Sure has the vibe. Comfortable seating and perfect lighting. The lighting makes the difference. No fluorescent lights which is perfect after a long night out or just doing work.

Yelp
Personally I like this better than it's sister location Antidote. Regarding coffee quality - not bad/nothing special. Only ordered an americano though and it was pretty good! They offer the Cajeta latte which tasted amazing at the sister location. As for interior - much more seating and many outlets compared to the Antidote location - but WiFi times out after 1 hour. So many not be ideal for working for a long time. Overall I'd give it a try! Seems more ideal for reading/meeting people for coffee.
