"The chemists behind this Dignowity brewery use their science to create piney IPAs and juicy sours. Pair a pint with a Tex-Mex pizza topped with chorizo, salsa verde, and roasted corn. Pickup beer orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas." - Brandon Watson

Yelp
Excellent vibe and kind courteous service. It always adds to the experience when the staff genuinely seem to believe in the product and that was evident here. SA has an excellent craft brewery scene and what makes Black Lab unique is definitely the seltzers. Check them out! And grab a pizza from 2-1-Dough while you're there.

Yelp
Great casual spot for local pizza and beer! Bonus: the wings are great too! I'll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Close to downtown in what's become a trendy neighborhood. Friendly staff, nice beer choices and plenty of food options. We had a starter to eat but the pizza looks awesome.

Yelp
I've been coming here for awhile now and I have never been disappointed by the available craft beer selection...even when they sell out of the sour I had my eyes on two hours before I arrived :) One of my favorite beers to get from here is the Puro San Antonio. It's not currently on tap, but I'll come back around Fiesta to look for it again. My other favorite is a staple on their menu, the Vanilla Joe. The atmosphere is calm, laid back. They have tvs, indoor/outdoor seating, and a section for video games. They now have pizza, sandwiches and appetizers (or snacks as I prefer to think of them) available for order. The pizzas were fantastic, just like the beer assortment! The crust was light and flavorful, neither pizza we ordered was greasy, and the ingredients went together well to create the perfect pies I will definitely be coming back....no surprise here as I just stated they have two of my favorite beers, but I felt like this statement just tied everything together.

Yelp
Your boy here is a brewery hound, but had a huge hole in my game. I have scoured the SA beer scene for months, but kept sleeping on BLB. I am an idiot. Turns our when 2 scientists put there heads together to figure out beer & pizza they succeed in a big way.....who knew lol? Amazing beer and food. Had 3 diff beers, a couple slices and some wings and loved every morsel and sip. Chill vibe, good TV setup if you wanna catch a game. Efficient, polite service. Cool outdoor area. BLB is going in my rotation for sure! Drink local!

Yelp
I went to the beer festival and was assault by there rep . He struck me in the face multiple times and then had the police come over and try to escort me out. I was brought over by their rep to tell them that their beer is great but they've been leading into the hard soda seltzer to much. They will be receiving a note from my attorney due to assault and metal anguish.

Yelp
We headed to @blacklaboratorybrewing for dinner today to check it out but also because @roseysfishandchips was going to be there. Dad and I tried Rosey's months ago when it was at The Good Kind and loved it. I knew my husband needed to try it. It's #nationalhotdogday and @blacklaboratorybrewing served up some good hotdogs. Dad and I originally were going to share the NYC dog but Dad had trouble with his teeth so he ate half of the fish. My husband had the other half of the fish and a Chili Cheese dog. My husband and I split the flight of 4 beers. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience today.

Yelp
Black Lab has become a FAVORITE brewery! The staff is amazing and they have a great selection of beer! There is always something for everyone in your party, complete with beer slushes. Now they serve food! There is an assortment of Specialty Hotdogs on the menu, served with Miss Vicki's chips; as well as Beer cheese nachos with assorted toppings! Put them on your "go-to" list for local brews!

Yelp
Best pizza I have had, the Brussels sprouts were perfect, and the N64 made me and my siblings play Mario kart 64 for 30 minutes

Yelp

Yelp
Very cool place. Kind of weird location but this center is awesome! Has a pizzeria, meat market, and a Korean restaurant (reservation only). Had a few of their beers, the pickle one and the ipa...and a pretzel. BEST PRETZEL IN MY LIFE!! Go there and order a pretzel and a beer at a minimum, you won't regret it. They also have beer that reaches 12% alcohol. I'm coming back!!

Yelp
Great beer and really cool atmosphere. Great looking menu. So far only had the pizza which was good but a bit on the greasy side. One server/bar tender was really attentive and nice, the other two seemed like they would rather not be there. Only real down side. I'm sure I'll be back though.

Yelp
Second time back and they did not disappoint. This time I had the brussel sprouts (had parmesan and lemon) and Italian sandwich. I was supposed to get the BLT but at the last minute switched and I swear the food just gets better each visit. The staff is very nice and likes to talk about the time and ingredients they put into each dish. I'm far across town but the trip is so worth it! Give it a try, you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
Honestly, we had high hopes! We try many different food places and this place was on our list. The presentation makes it look so good, the ambiance and service was great. The food is not great though. The pizza was so unappetizing, it tasted like olive oil was poured on top and On the base. We ordered two pizzas and buffalo lemon pepper wings for takeout. The wings were not spicy and didn't have lemon pepper (no points taken away they may have just forgotten) but it tasted like straight oil. We only ate approx one full slice out of both pizzas, the oil taste was too much to handle. Made our stomachs hurt & was around $66.00 in total. Not worth it for us unfortunately:(

Yelp
Add another great brewery to the Alamo City. This one, located on the near East Side, has a wide selection of solid beers that are surely to please any taste. Been several times and been super impressed with their beers, even bought several of their limited releases (if you didn't get their version of Bourbon Barrel Aged Black is Beautiful or their Puro San Antonio, you MISSED OUT). They also have panini for sale in case you get the beer munchies. If a panino, is not your thing, there's other several businesses next door that also sell food This brewery is located in such a nice spot that it's on my regular rotation of places to have a some good suds. You can drink indoors or outdoors, at pease and just chill with or without your significant other, friends, or dog. Also worth noting, this brewery participated in proving, clean, safe, drinking water during Snowmaggedon, even outside of their normal taproom hours. The community appreciates it!

Yelp
It is refreshing to have another craft brewery in San Antonio to not only compete with the other breweries in the area. This place though is one of the best. Small, personable and fun. The employees do a really good job suggesting beers that they have on tap. I think I have mentioned a couple of times that I like dark beers, they have a number of stouts on tap and the Mint stout by far was the best. I also had a pint of their copper and it was refreshing to end the evening with a finishing beer. Thanks Black lab for such a great evening.

Yelp
We caught the new pizzeria on opening day that is now connected to the brewery the we're a bit busy but nothing to turn away from. We ordered a total of 3 pizzas and a order of wings and a wedge salad and let me tell you it did not disappoint. My child who is a pretty picky eater with pizza eat 4 slices of cheese and my wedge salad was delicious

Yelp
I come from LA and one thing I didn't expect to see are LA prices for a brew, but here it is. If the beer wasn't as good as it is, it would've been a bummer. The "greetings from helles" was legit! Beautiful building/set up and very fresh inside.

Yelp
I hope when this reaches you Covid-19 would've been a fleeting memory. We all would be maskless carrying on with our lives as if nothing ever happened. However we don't live in Disneyland and instability is our new reality. Consistency is King, a currency few businesses carry. Not only is this exhibited through its product but also by its service. As the pandemic wears on us the need to find meaningful experiences in the midst of chaos is increasing. I will say I feel for the Black Laboratory Brewing opening in the same year as the coronavirus continues to disrupt our lives. A lesser brewery would've surely folded. Instead they continue to consistently put out the city's finest craft products with service to match. Seeing their transition moving their sample beers from local businesses to flowing taps speaks volumes of their resiliency. Before I write any further turning this into a barrel aged review I should state what I liked about this brewery to include a few minor critiques. The taproom itself is in a small business co-op. Depending on the time of day you go parking can be limited. I've already gone on numerous occasions and their beers alongside their service is what keeps me coming back. Each time I have gone brewmasters are always willing to explain what's on tap with accompanying samples. The whole Black Lab team are extremely friendly, passionate and this reflects in every beer made. For example I've tried their "Black is Beautiful" imperial stout up to my most recent visit with their "Updog", a triple ipa so potent it could take down an Imperial Snow-walker. If you're into lighter fare I've had their "Grapefruit and Chill" a beer you need to drink with Jimmy Buffet blaring whilst rocking a Hawaiian tshirt. The diversity in their styles means there is something for everyone. Again consistency across the board seems to be the call of the day. If I may add a few critiques it would be in available space and onsite taplists. Firstly it is a very small brewpub. As a result of the pandemic patrons are opting more to sit outdoors. This can be problematic. Since seating is shared with other businesses tables can fill up quickly. I've already had owners in adjoining spots give me the ojo. In addition on the each patio table is an online menu. Upon scanning it it takes you to their taplist via their website. In the future I hope they make a menu exclusively for when you visit as they rotate their list readily. While these are small critiques that are not dealbreakers, at least not to me. In the end consistent product and great service are really any place's calling card in these precarious times. As a craft beer enthusiast, a patron of the world I know we have been on this long manic ride since March. We've seen iconic businesses that we would've never imagined closing are now leaving for good. The simple act of leaving our homes has new implications. The question that seems to not have a real answer: How do we support local businesses and still maintain best practices? I don't know. All I can tell you if you're looking for an oasis from these claustrophobic, home cocoon, anxiety-ridden and Zoom fatigue times please head out to the Black Lab for some liquid therapy. ps. Don't forget to get a pizza from Truth Pizzeria next door to go with your beer! That way you get in your cardio workout.

Yelp
I love craft beer so when I was in SA for the week I made a point to try a lot of different breweries. Out of the four I went to, this was by far the best. Each beer I had was so good and unique, the glassware was super cool (even bought some to take home), and the food was amazing. The chicken bacon ranch pizza was easily one of the best pizzas I've had. The pizza crust/dough was awesome. The pickle dip was also super good and the homemade chips were perfectly seasoned. Can't wait to go back on my next visit!

Terrr E.

Yelp
This is a nice place to stop in for a beer. pours are good. The Bulliet Barleywine was excellent. Parking isn't the best, but the venue makes up for it. if you're on the Eastside of San Antonio, drop in, it's worth a visit.

Yelp
Everyone needs to take notes on customer service form this place!! Everyone was amazing! The food, the drinks, the service!! Fabulous! We'll be back often! It's perfect for kids and pets!!

Yelp
A++ I could not have been more impressed with how they're handling the Covid Crisis. They have signs and tape up so you aren't close to anyone. It's completely touch free. I can't wait until this craziness is over and I can sit and enjoy their beer with some pizza from a place that's in the same strip center. My favorite beer so far is Jeff Jams v1. So much flavor!
google avatar

Yelp
Chili Cheese Dog, chips, and Pepino Power Slushy was the perfect Saturday afternoon lunch on a hot August day in South Texas. It was nice they had 2 tvs up on the wall, plus nice music. They offer a variety of ales on tap, as well as flavored popcorn and games. Nice place to chill and feel good!
google avatar

Florence A.

Yelp
Really good beer and the food selection, while limited, is also very good. Parking can be a bit limited, they do have a small lot but it fills up fast

Yelp
Super fun spot in a great location. While traveling we always try to hit local breweries and this one has been one of our faves. Great summer beers and even better slushes to cool off in the hot summer weather. Super friendly helpful staff.

Yelp
Absolutely love This spot, nice pizza location next door, friendly staff, outdoor and in door dining with other food options and fantastic regular beers on tap PLUS special brews throughout the year

Yelp
Super creative, super delicious beers. Good number of styles to choose from, each very unique. Stopped in on a whim, will definitely be back.

Yelp
Excellent, quaint brewery! They are currently doing a Girl Scout cookie and beer tasting flight, and man!!! It. Is. Outstanding! Highly recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
Best brewery in San Antonio. It only been open two years as of today. They had their birthday today meaning two year anniversary. They had a two year beer but didn't have any. I love the pickle beer here it's to die for

Kassandra P.

Yelp
The wings were great and the beer was tasty! The atmosphere was really calm. They have video games! I was looking for a chill spot and this sure is a chill spot.

Yelp
East side nanobrewin'! These guys are running a pretty tight operation. They have storefront in a newly opened strip shopping center. It looks like the old building was a big service garage or something that they've turned into a strip shopping center. With a pizza shop next door, it's the perfect combination! You can get your beer here, a pizza from next door, and bazinga! The pizza seems a better option that the paninis that these guys are offering. They share a patio, which is dog friendly. My only complaint about this brewery is that they didn't have a menu that you could take back to the table and pour over. They sent me to the one on the phone (mine was dead and needed charging) or go to the one pasted on the door. I opted for the one on the outside door, but had the hardest time reading it since people kept coming and going through the door while I was blocking it trying to read the menu. Derp. They don't serve beer in glass here. Apparently they don't have the right kind of stuff yet to do so, so it's all in plastic cups, which seems kinda wasteful. The flights are served up in a bunch of tiny disposable plastic cups. The beers I had were decent- especially the core beers that they seem to sell all the time. Bindi Blonde Ale was my fav, it's a good beer for drinking on their hot patio in the shade. I like that they also do some crazier, far out beers as well, such as minty or fruited milkshake IPAs. The service was fast and friendly, and you could tell that the ones pouring up the beer knew their stuff and were able to talk about what they were pouring articulately! I liked everything I had on the flight!

Yelp
I adore local brew! I'd been meaning to stop here it's been so hot! I got off work early and slid into this little Hackberry mall. I got the Mox IPA and it was very smooth so I ordered a 6 pack to go. I ordered a pizza next door and then sat down for a beer while I waited. The people here are super chill and great customer service! Support local
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
:) Supporting local businesses during the quarantine. We got a three pack and their brews are EXCELLENT.

Yelp
Since this whole Covid apocalypse had happened I have been wanting to try black laboratory brewing for the longest time. Now that they are all allowing people into the taproom I decided to go down today to check them out. It is a very tiny place but there is an indoor and outdoor seating area which accommodates everybody who was there. The beer is fantastic! I am very critical of new places in San Antonio that brew beer at this place got it right. I had three beers and took an additional two 4packs home as well as two crowlers. I cannot recommend this place enough.
google avatar

John N.

Yelp
Pros: great location, friendly staff, good beer, definitely get a burger next door to go with your great beer, military discount Cons: the people next to us have pizza that looks a amazing, and I do not. (No real cons) Put it on your list. Go check this place out.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Beer was OK, establishment was not able to break a $50. Pizza place next door was way better. Go there
google avatar

Kris W.

Yelp
Enjoyed the special release "Love is in the Ale" and my hubby had the blonde. Had a really big selection to choose from as well as paninis if you are hungry. We had already eaten, so didn't try.

Gabe C.

Yelp
Great environment! Cheers! Great beer! They have a N64 and games. The Pom Pom berry sour is delicious
google avatar

Diana G.

Yelp
I found another good brewery in town. They have some interesting craft beers. I'm not an IPA fan, but their tangerine soft serve IPA was delicious. They do let you sample before buying. We ordered to go, but they do have a few tables were you can enjoy their beer onsite.
google avatar

Mike V.

Yelp
If you like craft beer, this brewery should be on your list if you are in the area. The four beers I had (Black Is Beautiful, Hot Chancla, Mox's IPA, and Plumberry Soft Serve) were all very good. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I learned they opened right before COVID hit, and they have endured. Please, stop here and have a pint or two. Spend lots of money so they can expand and distribute! Thank you, Black Laboratory Brewing, ai will be back next time I am in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
Black Lab Brewing has rapidly become one of my wife and I's favorite breweries in San Antonio. Their "and Chill" series are amazing, their IPAs are great, and their Vanilla Joe is out of this world. The staff is always super friendly, and they have a great location, sandwiched between several great food options with a nice breezy patio. Highly recommend regularly visiting here!
