Carlos T. and I went to Bayside to do a speedboat tour. After that was over, we were hungry and decided to stay in the area for lunch. Given that Carlos had been attracted to this place and I had gone to their downtown location and had a good time there, it was a no brainer to go to this location.
We went upstairs and were attended right away. The weather was fortunately cooperating, so we sat outside. Carlos was heading to a table, but I saw the bar empty and something led me to sit there. Call it a feeling. Turns out it was a good call as we had the sweetest bartender. Her name was Allison, Aly for short.
Aly was so lively and helpful. We had trouble deciding what to eat and she answered all our questions. That said, drinks were relatively easy to order in comparison. I had an Angry Orchard, he had a Black Market Rum Punch. My drink was cold and it went down smooth. As for the Black Market Rum Punch, it was a luscious-looking cocktail. Cannot comment on its contents as I didn't have a sip.
In terms of actual food, we split an order of wings. Half were lemon pepper and half were spicy boom boom. The lemon pepper flavor was a dry rub and it was the right about of lemon and pepper. The spicy boom boom was poured on, as it was a liquid sauce, and it wasn't spicy at all. It was flavorful and sweet. We accompanied this with some sweet potato fries that were freshly made but had one defect. Not enough salt.
We debated saying something but opted against it. We had other things to do that day. At any rate, it was a short and sweet lunch. We asked for the bill, got it, and turns out we had an honest bartender who told us about the 18% automatic tip. Go figure! Not something you hear every day, but given everything, we chose to tip more. Aly definitely deserved it.
