good vibes and solid cup of coffee. study tables are small but works. lovely atmosphere with good music and the staff and the lights and plants really liven up the space. love the full wall of windows to get lots of light. the baked good look super good too but need to go back to try them.

Good coffee. Great service. Nice to be here on a sunny afternoon. They’ve got benches on the side of the street and the surrounding environment felt cozy. Most importantly, a fellow customer kicked the iced latte I left on the ground and the staff was nice enough to make me a new one for free. That was a very kind gesture. Loved it.

I LOVED the coffee in this place. There is something so special about drip coffee. It is rich and bold, bursting with flavor. Black Press gets a lot of business traffic, and in true NY fashion- everything moves quickly. The staff are friendly and great at what they do. I highly recommend.

Can’t resist fig, I saw this sign and popped in. 12oz, half flavor, OatMilk Figgy Pudding Latte. Cheating on Starbucks… worth it.

Pretty decent cafe with some seats but inside and outside. Cappuccino was fine, tasted bitter, on the dark roasted side. Rich but the foamed milk was not that creamy.

Great atmosphere, greater coffee and the greatest service. It’s hard to find tumeric anything in the city so I was surprised to find it here and they don’t do it iced due to the grainy texture of the spices. I said “I like that texture” and he said “let’s do it then” I was so happy. That guy spiked my day up.

Service was unbelievable bad today. I came 8 minutes before closing. I understand it’s pretty late but I was nice and asked “are you still open? May I have two lattes?” He normally responded me that they still open. He asked me something but English it’s my second language and I didn’t understand what exactly he asked. I said “I’m sorry, could you repeat? Answered me and I said “I’m sorry could you repeat one more time for me?” Then he said with angry tone “regular milk’s fine???” I said yes please. He began throwing coffee utensils furiously and banging the milk jug loudly. When he was done with lattes I normally said thank you he didn’t respond me. I know I came pretty late but do I deserve this kind of service? I don’t know that guy but it was just rude and unprofessional. Also latte was under normal temperature.

Stopped by at this place for a latte on a sunny spring day. I used to live in NYC a while back and I remember that finding good coffee was a really hard task. So great to have these small coffee shops with really good high-quality coffee finally popping up in the city. I ordered a latte and my wife got an iced latte, and both were perfect. You can tell from the aroma of the coffee that the people here love coffee and really know what they're doing!

Visited Black Press while I was on vacation and it was my favorite coffee shop on my trip. The baristas were so friendly and I loved the vibe. The coffee shop is also a short walk away from Central Park and I ended up taking my coffee for a stroll. Their merch is also really cute and high quality as well! I love the tote I bought -- it was the last one in stock. Looking forward to coming back next time!

This was one of my fav coffee shops during my trip to Manhattan. We were heading to Central Park but wanted to grab coffee first so we found Black Press Coffee. I wanted a caramel macchiato but they couldn't make it so he recommended a caramel latte which was absolutely delicious. I ordered it with oat milk so there was a nutty flavor to it but the coffee was so smooth and not overly sweet. I also got the cream cheese pastry. I would've thought this was a bakery shop because the pastry was so flaky and airy. One of the best pastries I've had in a while. They have limited indoor seating and some outdoor seating. It's a dog-friendly location! Service is definitely top notch & also their tote bags are so affordable and such good quality!!

The coffee is always fresh and delicious, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great cup of coffee.

Tiny coffee shop with limited seating inside and two tables outside. Super cute spot! And it moves. Came in on a rainy day and it was packed. Tried the salted caramel and pumpkin spice latte. Both were delicious! Coffee is smooth and syrup is not overwhelmingly seat, you can still taste the coffee. Definitely Manhattan prices which isn't odd. On a slow day I can picture people on laptops but it is a tiny space overall. Cute decor.

Came here during the holidays because we heard good things about their espresso based drinks, so very grateful that they still kept the lights on even when other cafes were closed. Because of this, there was an influx of customers swarmed outside and inside the cafe, thus they had a sign that they were out of chai and oat milk, which I thought was very odd since the latter is an integral ingredient at a coffee establishment that serves anything other than cold brew. We ordered a cold brew and peppermint mocha soy latte-the peppermint was strong and present with the soy milk being okay.

I came to do some work on my laptop. The matcha was really good and very strong. The chocolate croissant was also really yummy, definitely recommend both. Wifi didn't work at all. I ended up using my hotspot, which was a little annoying. It's also super busy here. Everyone comes to either do work or chat with their friends. I came on a Friday at 11am. Not sure if I would come back to do work here, but if I need a quit caffeine hit, I'd come here and take a stroll in the park. But it's a little overhyped.

Friend is a coffee snob so if they recommend this for coffee then I will too. I had matcha so I'm not sure if this makes this review illegitimate but the matcha was pretty good. Not watered down and actually tasted like matcha. I did add some sweetener which made it hit the spot. I did have it twice lol. No bathrooms so note that. Cute outdoor (and a few indoor seating). If you can snag a spot outside I think that's what really elevates it. Inside can get quite crowded due to the line.

Please do yourself a favor and get their everything seasoning croissant. That croissant itself makes me want to constantly come back to this coffee shop! But ask for it toasted! Came here trying to warm up after spending a day in the snow, and I wanted something savory for my breakfast so I chose the everything croissant on accident. First bite in, I fell in love and I asked my friend if she wanted a bite. She took a bite and went to go buy herself one as well. It's that good! The latte was really good and the design was so pretty! It was a little more strong for my taste, but still taste really good. Highly recommend the croissant! Even if you don't like coffee just come here to get the croissant!

Black Press Coffee on the UES is a new little gem that I have recently discovered. On the outside, this coffee fixture gave me a corporate impression that I usually try to stray away from, but I was completely wrong! Upon walking in, I encountered a friendly, inviting atmosphere as the barista at the register donned an inviting smile and answered my questions with patience. Black Press has a unique, modern appeal which keeps me coming back. The music isn't too loud which is another plus if you want to read or study here. I was pleasantly surprised to see they had the tumeric latte on the menu, as I've been meaning to get one for a while. However, I ended up getting an oatmilk latte w. cinnamon, which was smoothe and delicious. I'm excited to come back here for more delicious coffee and reading. Check out this UES location!! :)

We were looking for coffee to start day and heard Black Press was pretty good. Coffee was decent - not the best we've ever had, but certainly not the worst. Croissants were pretty good. Seating both inside and outside, and they had a lovely outdoor seating area. Staff were kind and efficient. A solid choice for a coffee stop.

If you are desperate for coffee come here! Coffee is not great but what ruins the place are the customers-hogging chairs, staying for long on their laptops like they are at home and bored older women gossiping for hours while their dogs are trying to smell your pastry. I just spent $20 and can't get a seat. The good news is that there are tons of coffee shops near 72nd street. For example, blue bottle coffee shop, da capo, Starbucks, Joe on 67th.

Small shop with just a handful of seats inside and a small table out front. Friendly service. Had a regular drip coffee here which was a pretty good cup of coffee. Price as expected these days just under $4 for a regular/medium sized cup.

Loved my iced orange cardamom latte!!! They've always had really good homemade syrups. Cost $6.75. Very popular place on this Saturday morning so took awhile to get my drink. The staff is very friendly and they're dog friendly!

Wonderful little coffee shop! We stumbled upon it while walking around and they had some seasonal flavoring. I opted for a decaf rose latte which was absolutely amazing! I got oatmeal get my husband got a chai with oatmeal. It was delicious! We also got a chocolate almond croissant warmed up and it was yummy. The place was cute and clean, I just wish that they had a restroom for patrons. The barista was very kind and helpful!

I went on a busy warm Saturday. There were lots of people sitting outside reading a book and catching up with friends. Inside has cramped seating with 3 small tables and some window seats. I noticed a few patrons inside with their laptops trying to do work but it's pretty tight and loud for focused work. There is no bathroom. Their iced chai latte was alright and cold brew was bitter. It seems like a popular place but nothing stood out.

I ordered a large decaf oat milk latte and it was delicious. The cafe was also really nicely decorated and the person making my coffee was really sweet. My sister, my cousin, and I didn't stay long, but we really enjoyed the visit. They ordered some pastries to go. We even saw a state senator who was enjoying his coffee at one of the tables. This is a great go-to coffee joint.

I went here to meet up with a friend. Small coffee shop with cute vibes. She paid for my drink so i'm not sure what the pricing is. Chai latte was decent, and we got oat milk instead of regular dairy. There is minimal seating inside and it seems like there is patio/sidewalk seating as well, but it was cold so no one was outside. No bathrooms inside that we could use to my knowledge. Service was friendly and fast!

Cute spot to stop at for coffee! I had an iced lavender latte which which I liked. There are a few tables indoors and some benches outdoors if you wanted to chill here for a bit. Wifi is available and there are some outlets. No public bathroom though.

A solid coffee and espresso spot on Manhattan's Upper West Side on the corner of 73rd and Columbus, Black Press Coffee doesn't need much of an introduction. Due to Covid, no seating inside - but don't let that take away from your experience. Baristas are friendly, and know what they're doing. Espresso by Brooklyn's Parlor Coffee roasters. And not to mention some decadent pastries to beat. I really enjoyed the tahini chocolate chip cookies from The Good Batch. And yes, they've got oat milk and all of the regular other alternative milks, too. Even when I walked in 5-10 minutes prior to closing, they hadn't shut down the espresso machine yet and was ready to serve.

Good matcha! Enjoy taking the time to drink it outdoor. Staff was friendly and welcoming!

Went at around 3:30pm and they were all out of pastries. The drip coffee was ok (on the sour side) and $3.75. There was very little sitting room inside, but it's 5ish minutes from the AC subway station by Central Park.

I always enjoy visiting local coffee shops, as opposed to going to the chain ones. One, the coffee tastes better. Two, the staff is usually pretty welcoming and usually not rushing. So I feel like they take their time to make my coffee extra special. Thus was no exception. I loved every drop of this coffee. I will definitely continue to support local coffee shops. And would love to return here the next time I'm in NYC.

My friend told me that this cute little coffee shop is known for its amazing honey cinnamon lattes, so I decided to drop by after running some errands on a Thursday morning. I'm pleased to confirm that my friend was not wrong! The latte was just as delicious as she described. I saw that they have some other basic but fun latte flavors as well, including rose, salted caramel and the current seasonal (pumpkin spice). The service here is friendly and professional, and the space is nicely decorated and has a fair amount of indoor seating considering it's size. I would definitely like to come back and see how it feels to get some work done here if I can get a spot!

Iced chai with oat and a pump of vanilla was so GOOD!! Its too pricy though, my drink was like close to $7. The space is on the smaller side though, but super cute.

Such a cute and delicious coffee shop near central park on the UWS!! We stopped by for honey cinnamon oat lattes, which was one of the best flavored coffees I've had. It was a little on the pricey side but totally worth it. The chocolate almond croissant looked so so good as well, but we decided to get Levain around the corner. Super lovely to walk around the area!

Came here today and was hoping to get the iced rose latte, but immediately started getting interesting vibes when I walked in. Would be almost $7-$8 for an iced rose latte with oat milk. Thoughts racing, I immediately backtracked and decided to test them with a cold brew with regular milk. Unfortunately, the cold brew was majorly flat and basic especially when there are other competitors in the area. The workers were nice, but the drinks don't seem to be my thing. I want to stop by to try the iced rose latte when I feel generous in taking a hit because I am worried the drink won't be up to standards/quality for the price point.

Cute spot. Not a ton of seating and I couldn't get their WiFi to work for the life of me - ended up using my personal hotspot. Coffee was just okay. I got an iced coconut latte and probably should have ordered something different in retrospect - it was below average which I wasn't expecting after reading other reviews. The vibe is really nice. Servers were in great moods which is always fantastic to see - they seemed like they enjoyed working here. The location is also very cute; great spot to people-watch. I probably won't come back, but it could certainly be much worse. It's fine to stop in for a minute.

I live uptown so this isn't my neighborhood coffee shop, but a couple weekends I've stopped in for good coffee and yummy pastry. The staff are friendly, coffee is great quality (I drink black with no sugar so it's obvious when it's not good), and the outdoor seats are perfect place to people watch as NYC walks by.

Clean organized and dialed in. We had an espresso, mocha, oat cortisol and hot chocolate and a couple pastries. The espionage was perfectly dialed in. The cortado got delayed but was great when I got it. (The name brand nation chain was across the street and posed no competition for this independent shop)

Food: Ordered two black iced coffees from here with my friend for the first time! A very simple cup of coffee that was well executed. Definitely enjoyed our quick pick-me up for the morning and had nothing to complain about! Cost: I found the cost of the coffee to be reasonably priced, especially in New York! Environment: It seemed to be more of a pick-up and go type of place- no seatings inside. The place had a minimalistic style approach to it and it was very clean and well organized inside. Service: This place definitely can get busy and even though there was a bit of a line, our order was taken promptly and our drinks were made without too much of a wait! Uniqueness: If you're looking for some nice classic, well made coffee- would highly recommend stopping by this place and picking up a cup!

10/10 would recommend!! I got this place as a rec from a friend and after a long run on a cold morning it really was just what I needed. The staff are so nice too. I got a rose latte decaf with oat milk and it was so creamy and delicious. So pleasantly surprised with this place I'll definitely be back

Good oat milk matcha latte, just a hint of sweetness from the oat milk. Limited table seating, some stool seating, with some more seating outside. Nice spot to kill some time if you can find a seat. I'm sure it's not actually crazy these days, but I mostly make coffee at home so $7 for a matcha latte hurt a bit.

Nice local coffee shop in UWS - love the aesthetic here and the iced lattes are fantastic (there are also some fun seasonal ones to try!). There's a few benches and small tables outside, where I noticed several customers reading and doing work. Would recommend for a good cup of joe. Also, I love that the latte cups come with strawless lids - there are straws available if you really want, but the "You don't need a straw" sign made me laugh. Kudos to Black Press Coffee for encouraging customers to be more eco-friendly!

Great coffee! Nice cool (as in temperature-1st warm day of year) space, spacious, excellent for chain coffee - much, much better than place from Seattle. Didn't even ruin drink when I accidentally put too much stevia in!

Nice coffee place in the Upper West Side. I got the drip coffee and an almond croissant and enjoyed both thoroughly. Service was great and price is reasonable. Only issue is you only have outdoor seating and it's definitely more of a place to chill at or read a book rather than get work done (not a bad thing!)

I've read the glowing reviews and I really wanted to try a neighborhood place . I wanted to like this place. However, the espresso was very sour to my taste, and the latte that my wife had also had a similar off taste. Maybe the machines weren't cleaned properly or I just don't like their espresso blend. Wouldn't go back.

This was one of my favorite lattes I've had in NYC so far! The flavor was amazing and wasn't too bitter or sweet in my opinion. The taste reminded me of Blue Bottle's sweet latte except this one is cheaper. I also thought the decor made the place warm and inviting.

I, not a coffee or caffeinated beverage consumer, came here with my sister who is a coffee drinker. The outside has a nice set up to sit and people watch. My sister and I were on the go and running errands so we did take out. I was eyeing the pastries in the display case while she ordered a chai latte, that she promptly proceeded to SPILL. They offered to make her another drink which was very kind and I shot her a death glare to not spill this one. She drank the latte while walking around and she was very happy with the flavors and balance of the drink. Overall, I'd come back and eat the pastries and maybe try some of their tea.

They were super busy on a Saturday late afternoon. They had some outdoor seats but they were all full with extra people on the sidewalk waiting for their orders. Although there was a short wait due to the popularity, it was well worth it. We got their maple latte which was so creamy with just the right amount of sweetness. Also the shop itself is very cute! It was full of plants and just felt like a cozy cafe. haven't tried their other beverages but I can't wait to come back for more.

This is a great coffee node. In the time that is has been opened it already found the way to built a solid clientele. Everyone working here is incredible nice. It feels like a place everyone wants to be connected to. Coffee is great; and being at its side walk seating area feels very nice.
