Dallas Cowboys Face Backlash for Black Rifle Coffee Company Partnership | Eater Dallas

"Founded in Salt Lake City and promoted as “America’s coffee,” this pro-military, pro-police coffee brand is known for blending politics and product — even naming roasts after firearms and policing culture (examples include AK Espresso, Gunship, Silencer Smooth and a Thin Blue Line blend). The company operates retail locations concentrated in suburban and rural markets (notably none in central Dallas, Arlington or Frisco, with the nearest outlets in Plano, North Richland Hills and Benbrook), runs a media ecosystem of podcasts, a YouTube channel and Coffee or Die magazine, and has financially benefitted from a strong public following (shares jumped about 30% on its first trading day). Its founder, a former Green Beret and vocal supporter of Trump who once endorsed the Big Lie, has publicly tried to distance the brand from white-nationalist and extremist associations after high-profile incidents involving supporters wearing the brand, but controversy persists because of past sponsorship ties to far-right media. A recent high-profile partnership with the local NFL franchise to give away game tickets and a yearlong coffee subscription drew sharp criticism for its timing after mass shootings, with defenders calling it veteran- and first-responder-focused while critics say it signals alignment with a polarizing, pro-gun cultural stance rather than a commitment to gun reform." - Courtney E. Smith

Google
The staff were super nice and welcoming. We happen to go at the end of their tent sale and got a lot of good deals! We tried their coffee special the HK, it was delicious. Definitely one of my favorite coffee companies so it was cool to be able to visit their headquarters and get a fresh made coffee from them!

Kathy W.

Google
Very cool to visit the headquarters of Black Rifle Coffee… I was lucky to find a hoodie for my husband on the clearance rack… 20 bucks! 🤩 Also took advantage of the special on large iced coffee for $5… I had a Liberty Bell… delicious! Friendly staff, great products, and they support the US Military! It’s a Win Win Win! 🇺🇸

Google
First time in the HQ for Black Rifle Coffee Co. and the store had a lot of cool merchandise. They have a patch wall behind the counter that many have donated their patches to. You can order a coffee/latte/espresso to go. If you enjoy Black Rifle Coffee Company I would recommend checking this place out.

Google
I’ve been looking forward to trying out this coffee for a while, cool name and decent reviews. So disappointed…suggestion, don’t put up a sign that says $5 large ice coffees if you’re going to charge me 6.50. The barista was nice, but environment and check out was intimidating. Figured the owner would want to know that I won’t be back and likely won’t try their coffee again. It was just meh

Google
Never been to one of the shops, as they don't have any in New York. But I'm completely hooked on the pre-made Espresso 300 rich mocha. I first found this at a local dollar general and I would buy out their stock. That's when I finally found that I could buy on the website. I subscribed so I could get it on the regular. I just wish it was a little less expensive. I do love the fact that it's owned and run by our veterans. God Bless all of you!!! I hope one day to be able to visit the headquarters and maybe see how the process works.

Google
Disappointing.. I came in from out of town to check the place out. Being a veteran I wanted to see what BRC was all about. When I walked in I went to the coffee bar and the girl could not seem more annoyed that I asked her a few questions about the coffee and merchandise. It was clear that I was a burden on them. I took that as a challenge and started to ask more questions which did seem to spark a small amount of customer service thus the 3 star rating. If you are working in a retail/customer service job maybe act like you want to actually sell the product. Just my .02cents I actually ended up buying coffee and kind of regret it after the terrible service. Hopefully it’s good.. I’ll just get it from a grocery store in the future if it is.

Google
My husband and I stopped by Black Rifle Coffee Company before picking up friends from SLC airport, which is 10 minutes away. My husband is a big fan of their podcast so he wanted to get a cup of joe and some merchandise. They have a nice selection of super soft, pre-shrunk shirts for men and women, a wide selection of caffeinated coffee beans (no decaf), some cool grenade shaped coffee mugs, and other goodies. There's a nice seating area that was fully occupied by some gentleman conversing quietly. We wanted to do a little Christmas shopping there and the staff was incredibly accommodating to look for sizes not on display. If you're a fan of BRCC and are in the SLC area, I highly recommend dropping by for a cup of joe, some great merchandise, and maybe some conversing with like-minded fans.

Google
Probably the best coffee shop around Salt Lake City. Nice product, good ambiance and discount for veterans. I’m a black coffee guy and smell of the beans and taste really good compare to commercial coffee shops. Support this place!

Yelp
I've been touring the coffee shops around SLC. This is definitely not your regular coffee shop. Instead it feels like your stepping into the south, country music, wood decor, and cowboy boots. Maybe that's your scene, maybe not. They are limited on food, but we all know we're here for the coffee anyways. A few things that I love, discounts for veterans and professions like firefighters etc. There isn't a ton of seating, but the space feels inviting. Staff is super nice. Fresh coffee beans. Pricing isn't bad even with our discounts.

Yelp
Black rifle coffee is a definite five star for me. I stopped drinking coffee for a little while, and then my husband brought Black Rifle Coffee home. I was hooked, I like the Just Black option, so delicious. You can sign up on their App and get a subscription to have it delivered straight to your door. I find this so much easier. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it. Check out the awesome merch! 3/30/25

Yelp
The flagship BRCC location is awesome! I finally got to check it out and chat about coffee with the baristas, who were super friendly and knowledgeable. I specifically wanted to visit this location after having a couple of bitter drinks at BRCC locations in Texas, and I'm so glad I gave them another shot. I'm convinced I just got a rough batch before because the cold brew here was smooth and delicious. Still darker than my usual preference, but not bitter. The espresso was light, flavorful, and paired perfectly with steamed milk for a great latte. Pro tip: Add a little honey and make it a breve honey latte - you won't regret it! The inside of the shop is really cool, featuring a giant elk mount on the wall and a great selection of whole beans, shirts, hats, stickers, and more. But what really made the experience great was the baristas. Huge shoutout to them for making this visit so enjoyable! Stay caffeinated, stay happy! MLA

Yelp
I went here with Debra R and Jose R. I got a cinnamon coffee drink with milk. Debra R got a latte. We also got some souvenirs. The beverages were really good and the place has a good look.

Yelp
I've always been a fan of Black Rifle's Coffee and was happy to get a chance to check this place out when I was here in Salt Lake. There's a fair amount of parking right in the front of the store. Location wasn't too bad (off the freeway). There were plenty of merch in the store. All kinds of shirts, mugs, stickers, and of course coffee! The staff were friendly and provided recommendations depending on what you're looking for. They have everything from teas, lattes, coffee on tap and even hot chocolate for the little ones. All their drinks are solid and they also give free refill for brewed coffee. Definitely a great little spot to stop by and grab a drink if you're around the area.

Armando M.

Yelp
An amazing product and crew! Their cold brew is the best I have had in years, aside from that their customer service was entirely inviting and accommodating, I HIGHLY recommend them for anyone wanting an excellent experience and the best cup of Joe this side of the Mississippi

Yelp
Love this place. Stopped on my way to Wyoming and so happy I did. Highly recommend. I live in California and will be ordering their coffee online.
google avatar

Vicky B.

Yelp
I am a ECS and have been for a few years now. This lady order that was supposed to be delivered on Oct 8th has NOT been delivered and no one is getting back to me regarding this issue. I've never had a problem before but not happy they took my money but I did not receive my order.
google avatar

Joshua B.

Yelp
This was my first time at Black Rifle Coffee Company and I'm definitely going back when I return to Utah!!! BRCC please come to the Indianapolis area!!!! I've always loved their YouTube content so I was stoked to check this place out! It didn't disappoint in any way and the Coffee was legit!!! I had a White Chocolate Mocha that was tasty, made with oat milk of course. They have plenty of merchandise and I did get a shirt and a bag of freshly ground Coffee. To anyone that doesn't know BRCC is military veteran owned and ran Company. They care about veterans and it showed. This veteran even got a discount!! Make sure to like and subscribe on YouTube and also go to their website to order merchandise!! Molon Labe!!
google avatar

Isaac B.

Yelp
All the coffee is super good and the staff is super friendly. Everyone that I've met there when I go in for my coffee or beverage had been polite. I would recommend this place for coffee lovers and definitely approve of what this company stands for.
google avatar

Romeo D.

Yelp
HQ of BRC. Certainly worth a visit. Wanted to not only get a coffee here, but also souvenir. The coffee shop is really cool with great decor and really wonderful service.
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
Service is so superb. I love businesses that support our veterans and armed forces! I really appreciated the personalities of those who work in the retail and coffee area. Will definitely keep this as my little hidden treasure to take all my friends who are huge fans from out of state! I got an oatmilk lavender latte and it was INCREDIBLE! So yummy!
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
I have always been a big fan of BRCC and order coffee and merch on line. But, I was in SLC and I finally was able to visit their main HQ!! The staff was friendly and answered questions, helped find merch we were looking for and made us delicious coffee beverages!! Yes, I went home with more BRCC merch (love my BRCC camo hoodie!). I will be back in a few weeks and look forward to another visit!

Yelp
I like the Layton location way more than this one. The vibe here is off. They keep it dark inside and I wouldn't recommend going here to meet with someone or to study. It's also in a weird area. I got the 1776 mocha and it wasn't good. Skip this location and go to the Layton one.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
'MERICA! Enough said! It's so cool to finally visit this place after watching all the videos.

Jessica G.

Yelp
Black Rifle is always our favorite place to stop when we can find one! We need one in Idaho!

Yelp
My husband is one of the most complicated people to shop for because he can accurately predict what's inside the package by looking at its size, shape, weight, and how it's wrapped. This has led to many disagreements because I put much effort into finding his perfect gift, and I enjoy being surprised. I wonder why he doesn't feel the same way. Last year, I finally found the perfect gift for my husband! It was a great feeling to have finally accomplished this task. You see, my husband is a die-hard coffee lover - he doesn't just enjoy a cup or two in the morning; he needs several cups to start his day. He loves coffee so much that it seems like he has more coffee in his veins than actual blood. He enjoys his coffee hot, cold, and even iced. I found Black Rifle Coffee Company (BRCC) online, and it turned out to be the perfect gift. This company was founded and operated by American veterans and offers a vast selection of coffee beans and ground coffee to suit every coffee enthusiast. To surprise my husband, I gave him a membership into the BRCC monthly Coffee/T-shirt Club. Now, he can go online to their website at blackriflecoffee.com and choose the coffee he wants every month. If he likes a certain coffee bean, he doesn't need to do anything, and BRCC will repeat the coffee from the previous month. Along with the coffee, my husband also receives a different T-shirt every month. I had to call once right after Christmas to change the T-shirt size, and the gentleman I spoke with on the telephone was the nicest person I have ever spoken with in a customer service department." Black Rifle Coffee Company (BRCC) offers a range of products, including coffee pouches, which contain about half the caffeine of a cup of coffee. These pouches can be tucked inside your cheek for an extra boost of alertness. BRCC also sends samples of new items in their monthly membership package. My husband loves the coffee pouches, and I was able to surprise him with a gift that keeps giving back to both him and our veterans. I highly recommend Black Rifle Coffee Company.

Yelp
Finally got to visit one of these locations and had a great experience. I got an ice americano and was amazed how great this coffee smelled! I'm used to the usual S***B**** char and this was definitely much better. Instant fan! Also appreciated the Veterans Day and Military discount. Bring a store to Washington please!

Danny S.

Yelp
Coffee was good ngl , the baristas are rude they give horrible customer service and lack good communication skills for working at a coffee shop. 0/10 felt discriminated

Yelp
A great local coffee company founded by veterans. It's come quite a ways since I first started going in 2019. It was once quite empty with just coffee, mugs, and some accessories, and a cup of coffee on the back counter was free during a visit. They have since filled the space (old postal office or something? off 1300 S just a little ways down from Habitat for Humanity Restore SLC) with a full coffee bar in the back and everything from coffee beans to some tactical gear. My brother, who still lives in Virginia, told me about this place. I started to be more of a regular until I started limiting my coffee intake. Everyone is so helpful there and they have some cool collections around if you look.

D. R.

Yelp
You have the worst customer service. No one in SLC could help me in store with subscriptions. Then you send me home with an opened coffee tin with no patch .... None one ever answers your chat or facebook messages either. I'll never buy your coffee again.
google avatar

Chad H.

Yelp
Thank you for a wonderful cup of coffee. Stopped in to kill time for Habitat for Humanity to open so I could make a donation. Place is clean coffee is hot employees are nice. I got a new hat.
google avatar

Jonathan L.

Yelp
Nice coffee shop with tons of extra things to buy. Everyone there was very friendly. Planning to go back in the future.
google avatar

Samuel B.

Yelp
I wish it was more of a cafe with food but the coffee is still pretty good. I'm not a fan of them supporting far right wing politics but I do support their pro-veteran, pro-police and anti-Starbucks policies and like I said, good coffee. I do really enjoy the interior though, if this was closer to downtown I'd hang out here. It's a bit pricey but the extra money goes to veterans so it's worth it. Please open a shop in Orlando!
google avatar

Kat K.

Yelp
Best hidden coffee shop in SLC. This place has incredible customer service and a wonderful team of baristas ready to take any request. The vanilla draft is a fav and they have oat, almond and soy milk. Lots of rotating seasonal options and just incredible coffee with amazing art. Although this is the corporate office, the vibe in the shop is top notch; big space with free WiFi for working and good jams. On top of all of this, the apparel, coffee selection and gear are a go-to easy gift for any bday or holiday. It's right off the freeway and a great destination to take your friends and family when visiting. Definitely my fav new spot

Bill A.

Yelp
Ordered directly from BRC website; Coffee or Die medium roast and Freedom Fuel dark roast. I always use 1/2 & 1/2 in my coffee and these first cups were amazing. Very smooth, flavorful and not bitter or acidic. No aftertaste whatsoever. I salute you! 30-yr Vet
google avatar

Michelle N.

Yelp
I've tried their horchata latte and hot chocolate (both normal and candy cane). The horchata latte wasn't as creamy as I've had at other places. Their hot chocolate was okay, they don't use powder which was appreciated. My partner looooves their coffee and always buys coffee bags from here so I'd say that's probably what they're more known for than the to-go drinks you'd purchase.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
Excellent coffee as usual! I have lots of coffee and products from BRCC. My kind of tribe and people!
google avatar

Erin C.

Yelp
I haven't been in to BRCCs coffee shop, but I did gift myself a monthly coffee subscription for Christmas. The variety of roasts they offer is impressive and their packaging is awesome. I've been saving the empty bags so I can do some sort of art project with them. They're just too cool to throw out. Occasionally, they've included a sticker or challenge coin in the box, which my military son appreciates. I'm a fan of the Joe Rogan podcast, where I first heard of their company. They have an interesting background and history and I appreciate their veteran ethos. Thankfully, they're not just for show. The coffee is fresh and delicious. I look forward every month to see what new flavor I get to try.

Blanca S.

Yelp
I just left this place and im very disappointed, the custumer service was horrible, both baristas were super rude to me and my other friend. The coffee was great but really rude baristas they seem like they are not happy to be there. I will not be coming back for this reason.
google avatar

Lucio S.

Yelp
The coffee is simply one of the best! The vibe is great!! We order the honey latte and mocha cold brew, even bought a bag of coffee beans from them. The only thing is that this place is hard to get by given the ongoing constructions nearby.
google avatar

Tiffany G.

Yelp
BRC is our favorite coffee company. We are loyal customers throughout the country and love trying out different cities. The staff is always friendly and the coffee is consistently delicious. Thank you for supporting the military!
google avatar

Elizabeth A.

Yelp
Omg. So good and staff was really helpful to pick some beans to go!! I got the Vanilla Draft Latte and it was amazing!
google avatar

Sugar P.

Yelp
Amazing Coffee!!! No better place to be than at Black Riffle Coffee. The headquarters vibe is always on point. The staff are all so knowledgeable and fun to be around. My coffee by the cup has the freshest possible and straight from the roaster. You can buy cool swag that is always changing and coffee bags to take home to enjoy later. It's nice to go where can get a cup of coffee and it's about coffee. Amazing Veteran community to surround your self with. A must see in the SLC. Highly recommend cold brew or a hot honey latte.
google avatar

Levi N.

Yelp
I love Black Rifle Coffee and I was finally able to go into the main store. I ordered the Cortado because I like to taste the flavor of the espresso beans (less milk). They used the "silencer blend" which was light and really smooth and full of flavor. Most espresso shops don't achieve this quality. They also serve lattes, espresso mules and have a diverse drink menu (no pastries). I appreciate as well they give discounts for veterans and support veterans through their business.
google avatar

Kieran E.

Yelp
Not great coffee. There are better places to get local coffee. Location is weird and the interior is a bit boring.
google avatar

Jennie C.

Yelp
Great veteran owned company! They brew their tea while you wait, which was a big hit!
google avatar

Kenneth B.

Yelp
This place was awesome!! The people that worked there were amazing and extremely helpful. I would recommend if you are in the Salt Lake City area you have to stop by and check this place out. Coffee is just amazing!! I for sure will be returning there in the future
google avatar

Manny G.

Yelp
If you have not been in you are missing out. Amazing staff and excellent coffee. I was in a hurry although this looks like a place I could sit and enjoy some catching up with friends or preparing for the day. This is my new go to coffee in Salt Lake.
google avatar

Edwin P.

Yelp
Best coffee in Salt Lake City, UT. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. They made me one of the best Honey Latte's I've ever had.
google avatar

Vetran P.

Yelp
What an amazing coffee shop! It remined me of my time spent at all the USO's, I had no idea that the infamous Black Rifle Coffee is Utah based. Great people and outstanding brewed coffee. I bought a few bags to take home with me to try after some suggestions from the coffee experts. I will be making this my new go to every time I fly into Salt Lake City. What a great company and I'm so proud that they give so much bask to the Veteran community.

Tania W.

Yelp
Their coffee is amazing! We got mocha cold brew and honey latte, both taste awesome! The interior decoration is so cool and nice place to chill. The barista is friendly and we'll definitely come back!
google avatar

Joshua R.

Yelp
Hands down the best coffee. Not only is it great coffee taste wise but it keeps you energized for a long period of time.
google avatar

Ray S.

Yelp
I've been a BRCC fan for a while. I know they started out in Salt Lake City and honestly am not sure if this is the original location. It appears the consumer only sees a small portion of the property with the retail area so I assume so, but don't take my word for it. Regardless, great coffee and cool swag are available for purchase. I like that they gave me a military discount and love that they gave my mother in law a teacher's discount.
google avatar

Kinsey M.

Yelp
Love the concept of this coffee shop & their mission to support vets. Coffee- I ordered a cortado and got a room temperature latte. Unfortunate for my first visit, but will give it another try another day.

Lisa E.

Yelp
Chai tea latte..... wow! It was the best I've ever had. Seriously hot and spicy! Wish they had more whole bean coffee. I bought the k cup hazelnut which is awesome. This place is really cool
google avatar

Tanner D.

Yelp
I stop in this shop almost every morning. I absolutely love how friendly the staff is and the coffee is SO much better than any competitors (cough cough Starbucks).

Yelp
Decided to add this awesome patriotic company to Yelp. I was introduced to this brand a couple months ago. After a quick search I discovered a local dealer (The Red Eye Bakery) carried BRCC. I must say, the coffee is good and the marketing of their brand is spot on. Once I learned of the statement to hire more veterans in this veteran owned company, my admiration grew. I ventured to the local dealer and tried the Just Black (no cream or sugar), it was solid. I also purchased an awesome coffee mug. Due to the increased support pouring in, I had to wait for a t-shirt in my size to become available on the website. If a product isn't available you can submit your email for notification when it becomes available. It actually works. Big bonus in my opinion. Once I received notification, I was able to order the shirt. I ordered on a Friday afternoon and received my awesome t-shirt the next Monday. Great service! They give you a couple free BRCC stickers too. Also, the shirt is made from the really soft cotton. I guess similar to what unicorns would wear if they felt the need to be awesome for a day! All the designs on there products are desirable as well. Rugged, but pleasing.

Yelp
Guess a visit to the mother ship was in order. Fan for various reasons including the fact they are successful in a woke society. Nice to see their products scattered around different establishments in California.
