On the Grid : Black Sands

"This modern brewery feels like a bright, airy cafe by day and a classy cocktail bar by night. They have a few fresh house made beers on tap that rotate frequently, a selection of delicious cocktails, and some solid California inspired bites on the menu. If homebrewing’s your jam, check out the beer supply shop next door where you can get the recipes for all their beer or take a brewing class." - Amy Young

A hidden gem in the Marin Headlands, peaceful and stunning views of the dark-sand shoreline. The staircase down is steep leading you to the ocean’s edge. The climb back up is a challenge.

Moderately STEEP HIKE with stairs about 1/2 mile - if you hike down, have a plan to hike back up 😉. Beautiful beach great for a day to sunbathe or walk.

This is a magical beach that will never get crowded. Accessible via a small lot off Conzelman. There's a bike rack and restrooms too. Steep hike 10 minutes down wooden stairs opens out onto a 3/4 mile long beautiful wild beach. The black sand is steeply raked, and the noise from the curled breakers can be deafening! Exciting! Views of point Bonita light and mile rock on the far side of the Golden gate. The hike back up can be tough ..... allow 15 mins.

Quite place, not many people know about this beach. It needs a 0.2 mile trial which is not tough. Would strongly suggest spending a day enjoying the beach & some wild life.

One of the most beautiful places i've been to!! 🖤 surely one of my favourite beaches now. Hike up and down is a little bit hard but totally worth it.

This is a great beach! Nice hiking path including steps down to the beach and then back up. We also walked the pathways to the golden gate viewpoints which is in the Marin headlands. On a warm clear day it is absolutely beautiful and a wonderful natural space to just get some fresh air, enjoy nature, and get in exercise!

Beautiful beach, kinda' empty even on a warm weekend (which has its pros and cons). Rocky. The sand is actually made of tiny pebbles that can be uncomfortable (bring a beach towel!) and can get super hot (like asfalt!) when it's sunny.
