Our family of five had the most delightful lunch here yesterday! This is our 4th summer vacationing in Atlantic Beach but our first time trying Black Sheep Beaufort. Our kids loved the mozzarella sticks! We all loved our pizzas! Sitting outside was an absolutely wonderful experience with the water views! Our server was really friendly and so very helpful! Our drinks were refreshing! We will be back!!!

Tired of eating fish!! Looking for something authentic cooked fresh! You found the spot! This place was spot on. The mozzarella cheese sticks are made in house and baked not fried, absolutely the best I ve had, now on the pizza, delicious. The staff very courteous friendly and made sure we had what we needed was checked on often.

Stopped in for dinner and drinks. Pizza was on par with some of the best! Crab dip smelled amazing and will definitely be a choice on our next trip. Cocktails were tasty, the service was fast, and the staff was friendly. A must stop while in the area.

We visited last summer and were just recommending Black Sheep to our friends that are getting ready to visit, so I figured I’d drop a review! We had a baby and a 1 year old last summer when we showed up, and joked that they put us up near the street so the kids didn’t disturb the other tables- but in fact, it was the best spot! Our 1 year old spent the entire time in the window waving to passerbys. Great food, such a friendly staff (and we know we leave a tornado behind us), and such a cute location. We will continue to recommend to friends and look forward to coming back when we travel out there again.

As a person with Celiac, we are always on the lookout for good gluten free food. The GF pizza was delicious! Our waiter told us it was made with rice flour, and my husband (non-celiac) couldn't tell the difference. The entire town of Beaufort has been incredibly GF friendly!

Google
Black sheep was great. Don’t be disoriented if you walk in through their “secret entrance” someone will point you in the right direction. The place wasn’t packed but we had to get on a wait list and they told us 20-30 minutes but we were seated in like 15. They have like 3 sections in the restaurant, one section outside and the other two inside. One of those inside sections is a lounge area where you can wait and order drinks while you, as we did, wait for your tables. Once we sat down Parker gave us the rundown on all the specials and they all sounded and WERE delicious. Parker was very attentive to whatever we needed and explained the specials in such a way that we ordered all of them. First off we got the soup special. Imagine a “crab chowder” mixed with corn chowder it was sooo good. Next the Mac n Cheese special which was delicious and a good stepping stone to our figgy piggy pizza. I was skeptical because of the figgy part but Parker sold us on it and the pizza was soooo good. Good balance of sweetness and pizza. Overall it was a great experience. I do wish they would have a bit more beer selections but other than that I highly recommend this place for a bite.

Google
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. They have excellent, unique dinner options and the food is delicious. Our server was fantastic--very helpful and respectful. We ate outside and really liked being at the docks where we could watch the boats while we waited for our food to arrive. The whole experience was great and we'll definitely come back here when we visit Beaufort again. Even our daughter loved it!

Enjoyed a casual, delicious lunch on a quiet January afternoon at Black Sheep restaurant on scenic Front Street in the historic waterfront district of Beaufort, North Carolina. Walked in and immediately noticed the staff was friendly and actively engaged. I always consider a happy-looking staff to be a huge tip-off to how a restaurant experience will go overall. Soup Special of the Day was a White Chicken Chili, and it was just what the doctor ordered on a deep winter afternoon. Menu item that really caught my eye was a pizza I’ve had at Roberta’s in Brooklyn (and I think “invented” there, circa 2008 or so). It’s called… Speckenwolf Pizza with Olive Oil, Speck Prosciutto, Red Onion, Mushrooms, and Ovalini Mozzarella And it was terrific. See photos for all the tempting details! Black Sheep says “We are a North Carolina scratch kitchen using fresh, seasonal, ingredients with a focus on quality, and creating one meal at a time.” They sure lived up to it for our visit. Look forward to returning soon. Highly recommended. P.S. As far as I know they are open year-round, and Hours (as listed as of January 2025) are: Monday closed Tuesday closed Wednesday 11:00am - 9:00pm Thursday 11:00am - 9:00pm Friday 11:00am - 9:00pm Saturday 11:00am - 9:00pm Sunday 11:00am-9:00pm

Yelp
Another fantastic meal at Black Sheep. Sat right on the waterfront and had a great time. Food was great, and so was the service.

Dan K.

Yelp
Food is delicious and service is great! Beautiful view watching the boats up and down the waterway. Pizza was outstanding for NC!
google avatar

Jeannie G.

Yelp
The pizza was addictive (the sauce, crust, and cheese were all perfect!) and even the house red wine was an impressively good Cabernet. The mixed greens salad was ok, but it WAS a salad with mixed greens, lol.
google avatar

Yelp
The drinks, food, and atmosphere were great! They made a delicious old-fashioned. The cheese sticks were delicious and homemade, which is a nice change! They could use a little more breading, but would still order again. Overall, everything was great. Prices are a little high, but it is waterfront. Will definitely visit again.

Yelp
I've eaten at Black Sheep twice now. I ordered the Four Cheese pizza both times without realizing it. I wish I lived closer as I've been trying to find my new place for pizza after my favorite pizza place closed. Black Sheep has the best pizza with thin crust and wood fired. I haven't tried the other dishes yet but there is next time. Although the pizza could win out next time too. My first time at Black Sheep I ate outside as that is where I was offered for seating. This time it was just too hot for me to sit outside so I got a table inside. Outside seating is on the water so I think I preferred that but when you've been outside most of the day the AC has its perks. Service is really good here and I was really thirsty so I had both tea and water and those cups were kept full. I was brought a carafe of water. I was even given a tea to go. I look forward to my next visit to Black Sheep.

Yelp
I come to Black Sheep every time I am visiting the area and love bringing guests to this spot. The location is great-- right in the heart of downtown Beaufort with both indoor and outdoor seating. Great boat watching from the back patio area. The service here is always good and the wait for a fable is never too long even on busy nights. The food here is mostly pizzas, sandwiches, and salads. We had the tomato pie pizza and shared a few large appetizers with the table: crab dip, burrata salad, and a charcuterie board. I would order everything again. The crab dip was especially delicious and flavorful.

Yelp
Great food and vibe right on the water in downtown Beaufort. The Green Room next door is an extension with more relaxed seating areas for drinks and conversation or watching a ball game.

Theresa W.

Yelp
We waited a long time for a cold sandwich. When it arrived it was a mediocre amount of chicken salad on dry focaccia bread . When we said the bread was dry we were told it was because it was a different type of bread? Lots of dirty tables when we arrived . Oh and apparently we waited for a long time because of a computer error.
google avatar

Yelp
It's a small pizza restaurant right on the water. I had the Mediterranean Platter which I loved. Husband had a salad with grilled chicken. The service was great.

Yelp
Walking along the waterfront in Beaufort will make anyone hungry, and my husband and I were not the exception to that! Not feeling fancy enough for a steak dinner we saw this unassuming restaurant called The Black Sheep and decided to give it a try. We managed to walk in through the wrong door lol and had to be rerouted to the hostess stand. They were super busy and we didn't want to sit outside so we were sat at corner table for 2 which was cozy. The waitress was quickly out to take our order and we received our piping hot Four Cheese pizza shortly thereafter. Neapolitan style pizza is not for everyone, but it's our favorite! The sauce was minimalistic really bringing out the flavor without it being overpowering. The cheese was gooey and delicious, while the crust was perfection with just the right about of texture. It's super hard to find amazing Neapolitan pizza in ENC, but the Black Sheep is the real deal and we most definitely will be back!!

Yelp
My family and I all work in the food business - we LOVE great food- great food is very, very important to us. That being said, truly great food is unfortunately quite hard to find- especially in tourist destinations like The Outer Banks. I have come to rely on Yelp to help steer us in the right direction in any city we're visiting. I saw Black Sheep rated fairly high- the menu looked interesting and the atmosphere/ location, well the Beaufort Waterfront is tough to beat. So we ventured over there this evening after a few hours at the beach. We were seated quickly outside (just as we were hoping) - the hostess and our server were quite warm and welcoming. We had two of the specials, one of which was a Watermelon Gazpacho - DANG...we all wished we had ordered a bowl with a to-go vat for home! We had several sandwiches (the Cuban and Beaufort Cheesesteak) as well as the Tomato Pie. Everything on our plates was very obviously made with love and care. There was not a single "throw-away" component. The Pickled Golden Beats, the Potato Salad, the homemade Focaccia, the House-Cured Pork - etc....everything was given thought and made with excellence. There were 5 of us picky food snobs in our party- we all tasted every component on each others plates and we all walked away thoroughly impressed and amazed at what great eats we had just experienced. Thank you for putting such love and thought and heart into your food - it matched at beauty of your location and gave us a truly memorable evening as a family / we left thoroughly blessed and thankful that we dined at Black Sheep this evening!

Yelp
Stopped in for a late lunch Sat on the waterfront deck Food was good Service was excellent Dog friendly is always a Plus for us
google avatar

Dana C.

Yelp
Gluten free, dairy free pizza? Count us in! Our server was helpful in figuring out which pizza toppings would be okay for our dietary restrictions. We went with the Bishop and the Charcuterie pizzas, both of which were fantastic. They also have gluten free wraps and crackers to sub for sandwiches and appetizers with bread. We were sat at the windows facing Front Street, so people watching was fun. However, surrounded by other tables/ other people in our little corner the noise level got really loud.

Alyssa R.

Yelp
Delicious food (potentially the best Caesar salad I have had ever), quick service, kind waitress who offered to take photos, and wonderful view. Will absolutely return on our next weekend getaway!
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
The atmosphere is fun and the food and cocktails are excellent! We had the crab dip, Philly cheesesteak and the margarita pizza as well as their Margaritas.
google avatar

Jack E.

Yelp
Location right on the water so the view is fantastic. Lots of windows so the barroom feels very open. They have friendly and amicable bartenders. Had a delicious and local IPA at a good price. I will certainly come back here and have a drink or two next time I visit Beaufort, NC!
google avatar

Emily G.

Yelp
One of our favorite casual spots in Beaufort! Great food, chill vibe, and excellent service every time we go--I'm not even a big fan of pizzas, but we always love the pizza here!
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
I love this little dockside restaurant!!! It has a great view, great service and great food!! The pizza was so flavorful and had that perfect amount of "chew" to it. My salad was fresh and tasty as well. I'd come back any day!

Karen B.

Yelp
A fun evening with pizza and draft beer! Popular waterfront spot with a great vibe and pleasant service. Look forward to returning. Indoor seating and pet-friendly outdoor seating availabe.
google avatar

Andrew K.

Yelp
I liked it here! First, they have a nice location on the water. So the ambiance is nice. Also, the service is good! Next, the food was good! I really enjoyed my anchovy pizza. The crust was good and the seasoning was good. I do wish my side portion of Brussels sprouts was a tiny bit bigger though! Finally, it was not super hard to get a table on Thursday night without a reservation, and I appreciate that.
google avatar

Constance P.

Yelp
Great views if you eat outside. The wood fired pizza and appetizer was great. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
Fantastic WOOD FIRED pizza! We ordered the pepperoni which has caramelized onions on it too. We ordered it extra crispy. The pizza is very thin and light, perfect. We also ordered a green salad which they had offered to split in the kitchen, it came lightly dressed, greens with cucumbers and radishes. They have a good beer list with local beers on draft. I had iced tea. They are dog friendly and immediately brought a water bowl for the dogs. Great view AND great service.

Yelp
I think I've found my new favorite place to eat. We ended our night last night with the torta which was an indescribably good tart lemon flavored dessert. We were looking at others people's dinners and knew we needed to come back for lunch, so we did! Outside seating was packed, so we sat at the bar. Excellent service provided by Caleb, but the staff truly do zone coverage, so if he was mixing drinks but our waters were empty, another person would fill them up. The low key atmosphere both inside and out was perfect. And from the bar, you can see the horses roam the land across the water. We got the pizza bites appetizer (not just for kids) and the Pedro pizza. For two people, this was more than enough food. And the béchamel sauce on the pizza - so light and just really brought all the flavors together. Definitely will return with the family next time.
google avatar

Hank G.

Yelp
This is a fun casual restaurant on Beaufort's waterfront boardwalk area. They serve an interesting variety of 12" thin crust pizzas which make 6 slices and were perfect for the two of us. They carry an interesting variety of local beers on tap which I enjoyed. The service was friendly and attentive even though it was busy with large family groups. We had pizza, salads and my beer and it cost half of what a fancier restaurant was the night before. We would revisit again when here.
google avatar

Ben M.

Yelp
Despite being short handed, they really took care of us well. We came in for drinks and light snacks and ordered the Mediterranean platter. Very light, very diverse Mediterranean fare. Olives, hummus, other veggies were fresh and really good. We were in the Green Room side, which feels part like a library and part like an art museum. This place is really nice. Totally felt relaxed and at home here. Can I move in?

Danna M.

Yelp
Pizza was delicious, great crust! Yummy Caesar salad, next time I'd order it without the anchovies.
google avatar

Evan M.

Yelp
We ordered several pizzas for the table and they were all good, spirts were also nice. We had to listen to a screaming child and I would still give it a good review!
google avatar

Christine J.

Yelp
We eat here almost every time we come to Beaufort. The pizza is delicious and made with high-quality ingredients. Sometimes the service is excellent and other times it can be a little slow. Overall, we enjoy the food and would definitely recommend you give it a try.
google avatar

Jeff S.

Yelp
Never disappointed with the food here. We made it there on an evening with no wind and a beautiful sunset. Sat out on the deck and enjoyed the view. The staff were very attentive, asking to remove our plates or fill our glasses of beverages the moment they got low.
google avatar

Dustin M.

Yelp
Black Sheep is absolutely wonderful. Great outdoor dining option with a spectacular waterfront view in beautiful Beaufort. Service was wonderful and the pizza was spectacular! Nice kids meal selection as well. This was our first time at Black Sheep but we will definitely be back.
google avatar

Louise H.

Yelp
Enjoyed the thin crust pizza. Wait staff was incredibly attentive. Nice vibe. If it had been a little warmer, we would have loved to sit on the deck and enjoy the amazing water view. We will be back!
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
While waiting for the sunset cruise to begin, we stopped by here for an appetizer and drink. We set at the bar as we thought this would be quicker, and it was. The outside was packed and the inside nearly so. We ordered our drinks and they have a good selection. I had a mojito and it was perfect. They order fresh herbs from somewhere local and it makes all the difference. Long story short, we ordered an app and a bowl of mac and cheese. When we realized it was not going to be ready in time, we asked the bartender, Bill, to check on it. It had not been started, so he asked if we wanted him to put it on hold. We did and we went ahead and paid. When we got back from the cruise, which is next to the restaurant, we walk to the bar and within minutes or food is served meaning he put the order in before we ever stepped in the place! That is service! The mac and cheese is just as great as everyone says it is! AMAZING!

Kacie D.

Yelp
I wish I could give this restaurant 3.5 stars so I went up instead of down bc it was more positive than negative. A group of us camped for the weekend at cape lookout and my boyfriend and I stumbled upon this adorable water town. We checked the yelp reviews and menus and settled on black sheep. We were greeted and seated immediately. Not overly friendly but not rude. No smiles. Just, how many without looking up. Inside or out? We chose outside for the view even though we have had been water view all weekend. Waters were brought promptly. We ordered the crab dip as an appetizer. That came out in less than 10 minutes. Here's where the lower stars come in. Presentation was beautiful but the food was extremely bland. He ordered this sandwich with thick floppy bacon and pimento cheese. Again, presented beautifully and excited for the first bite... disappointed again. Bread was soft, bacon soft, with very little flavor. I ordered the wenny pizza. Crust was perfect and the pizza was beautiful. I ended up covering it with red peppers and Parmesan to liven it up as much as I could. 3/3 we're bland. Inside is a very cool, eclectic restaurant. It ran efficiently but nobody was overtly friendly. Nobody was smiling or acknowledging even. Walking into the bathroom, I even almost got trampled by a server not caring she was cutting me off walking. Bathroom was behind a huge photo of a man's face.

Alexandria C.

Yelp
AMAZING food and service. We will be back. We loved the atmosphere too. We sat outside near the water!
google avatar

Cathy W.

Yelp
Perfect location on the water. Pizzas were AMAZING! Painkillers nice and cold. Service attentive and quick. Watch the water, have some scrumptious food, enjoy a cocktail, ORDER THE PIZZA! Any of them.
google avatar

Nathan D.

Yelp
When you imagine a restaurant that can successfully appeal to all audiences, this place hits it on the head. The bar room is great for adults and the outdoor dining is great for families. Regardless of where you sit, be prepared for a bright, cheery atmosphere with great views of the bay. The food is delicious as well.
google avatar

George F.

Yelp
Our first visit to Beaufort. What a nice town. We started with lunch at Black Sheep. The atmosphere was ok and the service was welcoming. We ordered a Caesar Salad, Pimento Cheese Dip, and a Sausage & Pepper Pizza. Everything was good but not outstanding. It was an interesting take on pimento cheese but the "ciabatta" was really just pizza crust which overlapped a bit too much with the pizza. I liked the flavors in the pizza toppings but the crust was pretty ordinary. A good meal though.
google avatar

Kenny J.

Yelp
Food is always amazing, service is great, and the location is perfect for a day of shopping and enjoying sightseeing on the town.
google avatar

Denise O.

Yelp
Crostini was fantastic. The charcuterie board was good. The boys had pizza and pizza rolls, both were good. The wait staff was friendly. Again, the crostini was fantastic!
google avatar

Hilton M.

Yelp
Cuban sandwich very good , pepperoni pizza with caramelized onions very good and wife had the golden beet salad very good with fresh shrimp.

Katie D.

Yelp
The food was great! The service left something to be desired. We loved sitting outside but felt rushed out despite the fact that there were open tables
google avatar

Angel H.

Yelp
Pizza was super tasty & had a fun atmosphere. Food was fast and ready. The view of the water was breathtaking.

Sally R.

Yelp
Amazing!! I loved the pepper and sausage pizza. We were visiting Nc staying in Morehead, I got this pizza and the frozen painkiller. They were so good we came back before our trip was over. Honestly I'm craving this pizza while typing this...
google avatar

Pablo S.

Yelp
My family and I are staying about 30 minutes outside of Beaufort but had a craving for pizza and this place didn't disappoint. The pizza was thin and crispy and perfectly cooked. We ordered one cheese and one pepperoni pizza and devoured them. My wife had a beet salad as well and it was also quite tasty. Our server Mikayla was pleasant and attentive! We are in the area for two weeks and I'm hoping we can make it back for more great eats!
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
The bad thing is they are Busy during spring and summer hours and hard to find a parking spot. The good side is Theres shops to check out on the streets while waiting and a nice waterfront seating area to hang out around while waiting. The menus outside, you have to scan the QR code to read the menu online. Kinda inconvenient for some people. We got pizza rolls, mac and cheese and a pizza. The foods really good and has a homemade taste. The pizza rolls are really tasty and kid friendly. The marinara sauce is kinda tangy but not hot. The mac and cheese is light tasting and good as well! Also kid friendly. The pizza we received is about 12 inches around. It was light on the sauce and thin. Not a deep dish kinda pizza but a thin crust style. The bacon is good and thin. The sausage is kinda sweet tasting. Over all the pizza was kinda sweet and salty tasting. Not bad. Not what I was expecting from a pizza though. I would come back here again. Id plan ahead to wait 30 mins due to traffic, parking and people. Thats the down side for sure and reason for 4 stars. The view is super nice on the porch though. Boats, water and sometimes horses. ^_^. Very nice view.

Discerning C.

Yelp
Black Sheep has good food, and an entertaining outdoor seating area. Great pizza, good salad, soup, as well as other tasty dishes.
google avatar

Ted A.

Yelp
First visit. Great selection of sandwiches. I had the Cuban. It was wonderful. I could probably order two or three other sandwiches off of their menu and be equally as happy.
google avatar

Lisa A.

Yelp
Brick oven pizza at its best! We took a drive looking for a place to stop for dinner. We drove by several places, decided to park, walk and commit to a place. We landed on the Black Sheep and SO glad we did! We sat outside on the water (it was dark so we couldn't see much but it was a beautiful evening so we couldn't resist. Our waitress was amazing - she explained everything and we heard her doing to same to the tables around us. They have a full bar and also serve NC craft beers on tap. I had the pepperoni pizza and my husband went with the pulled pork pizza. Both were SO good that we didn't want to stop eating - although we forced ourselves so we'd be able to enjoy the next day. Their prices are very reasonable, too! HIGHLY recommend!!!
