We visited this restaurant over the Fourth of July weekend and were pleasantly surprised to get seated right away, even though we expected it to be packed. From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. Our server, Bree, was amazing, friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. We started with several appetizers, including the lamb, bacon-wrapped shrimp, and the Caprese salad—each one fresh and full of flavor. For entrées, our table had a great variety: burgers, shrimp pasta (times two!), and I had the beef tips. Everyone at the table loved their meal. If I had two tiny suggestions, it would be to offer some sort of bread—maybe garlic bread or rolls—especially with pasta or beef dishes and to liven up the atmosphere. That said, everything else was fantastic. I’ll definitely be back!

I brought my boyfriend from North Dakota to corpus for his first beach trip on a whim. This place was recommended by our Air BNB host. I got the shrimp pasta and it was incredible. He got a burger I think, predictably. Our server/bartender was so warm and friendly and my negroni was on point too. The best meal I've had in years and overall a very romantic private vibey place.

Google
Cozy and very well decorated with beautiful wall art of nature. Our server was very pleasant and she suggested we try the BBQ menu They smoke their meats on Tuesday, so Wednesday is the day. it was terrific. The sides were outstanding. Chief Z puts a lot of thought and care into his food.

Look, I read the reviews; I always read the reviews and especially the negative ones. I imagine this place can get quite busy during the beach season AND everything is made to order. If you want fast, go to Mcdonalds or Starbucks. In the end it wasn't like it was that slow but not everything in life THIS GOOD should be fast. I had a creative bun-less burger called the Sgt Dan. It was delicious - 5 star for sure. I'll be back. Enough variety in the menu to keep it interesting and a gluten free option or two. Also, with it being close to the beach I can eat, maybe have a glass of vino, and then take a walk on the beach.. which we did. Good times.

Not impressed with my recent visit to Black Sheep. The service was just okay. They didn't have my beer and gave me a warm replacement instead in just the bottle - had to go get a cold glass myself from the bar. The food was a letdown. Those "Thai chili" wings had no Thai flavor at all—tasted like plain Sriracha sauce. They didn't even trim the wingtips and baked them instead of frying. My wife's chicken was straight-up undercooked on the thick part of the meat. At least they offered free dessert to make up for it. The music was all over the place—jumping from K-pop to country tunes. This place used to be good 6-7 years ago. Hope they can get back to that someday.

Came into town to visit the beach from El Paso, my boyfriend and I stopped in for a meal before the sunset and it was amazing! Bri was our server and she had the best positive aura and answered all of our questions! The food was absolutely excellent, we had the smoked gouda burger and was very impressed by the home cut fries and the meat was cooked well while still being juicy! definitely will be coming back and recommending to friends coming to the area

Wrong order. Ordered the same drink twice. Got 2 different drinks. Watched the bartender take 3 fruit flies out of a drink with the spoon and put her nails into the actual liquid… then serve it! 🤮 should be shut down. It also took a long time for everything. They had my debit card for over 10 minutes without paying the bill. I had to go up for it.

Google
This place hit you immediately with a not pleasant smell, like dirty dishrags. Appetizer was just okay but Nachos are what they depicit. Looks like ground beef when you order Crab and Lobster nachos. Was told those ingredients are "mixed in"? plus they over charged me $11.00 above list price for a bottle of wine. Meh

Yelp
If you have grown weary of pizza, burgers, and fried food on the Island, this is a place for you! As always, we are noncommittal to a whole entrée each for two people, so we ordered the lamb dunks appetizer and large Caesar salad.... Four generous pours of wine (NO! We do not share this!) and we oh my goodness. All the food prepared was clean and delicious. The lamb chops were tender, juicy and absolutely complemented by the cheese fondue! I wasn't gonna dip my lamb chops in the sauce because it tasted so good on its own but my dining companion said have you put this in the cheese sauce and then I did and oh my God it was just so elevated! The butternut squash and broccoli was cooked to tender perfection and tasted absolutely phenomenal with the cheese sauce dip... And everything stood on its own without sauce as well. That's how you know something is good with or without sauce! So stop eating pizza and burgers and fried food after going to the beach! You deserve something better than that! A little pricey, but worth the investment in yourself. The service was phenomenal. Everyone there was courteous and respectful of our time. I don't know if this is a woman own business, but it was run by some very exceptional women. We've eaten here before and it was just as delicious... Pre-Covid and post-Covid.... It has endured. I'm going back every time I'm in North Padre Island.

Yelp
We were greeted immediately as we entered the restaurant. Service was friendly and timely. Business seemed slow, but more folks came in as the evening went on. The menu has a variety of options ranging from a burger to fresh Flounder Alfredo. The Caesar salad was delicious. The flounder was fresh and prepared with spinach and Alfredo sauce. The special was Beef Stroganoff and was delicious. We were surprised that there weren't more folks eating there. We'll be back!!

Yelp
What an awful place...manager obviously doesn't care about patrons. I've heard things about this place from former employees, I should've trusted them. Blatantly disrespectful and have no regard for customers. Place has potential, but I wish the owner and GM actually gave a crap

Yelp
Nice small place for a date night. Came here on a recommendation from a bartender at another place. The food was good and came out quickly. I had the chicken with a bruschetta appetizer. The bruschetta was pork, it was ok, it being cold threw me off. The chicken was good, it was very filling. Parking is a little tight and seating can be hard to get around when the place is busier.

Yelp
Dear owner(s), this was the second time that I had dined at your venue & decided to review & #yelp my experience. First of all, great parking situation. Second, the hostess that worked each time was very friendly & pleasant as that's always the first impression. The cocktails both times were on point; a little pricey but delicious. Loved the food! So flavorful, so decadent, so refreshing! Appreciated the decor & vibe; very creative music & enjoyed the ambiance. The staff were really nice and they went above & beyond. I highly recommend this restaurant! I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Place has great food! Broad menu and great for date night! Huge selection for cocktails and a very broad selection of bourbons! Staff are very friendly and owner shows face and very friendly! Great local spot!

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place, especially because my child was acting like an 18 month old child will after a day at the beach, and the server took it like a champ... buuuut the food really just missed the mark for me... especially for the $80 I paid for three appetizers and one drink. I ordered the crab and lobster cake, lamb dunk, and bacon wrapped dates. The dates were over cooked and hard to eat, and the goat cheese wasn't even noticeable in there. The crab and lobster cake had very little crab or lobster in it, and a single small cake was $16. The lamb dunk came with two tiny lamb lollipops, a few scattered broccoli florets and sweet potato bites, crostini, and a cheese fondue that was a little gritty... after eating it, i still don't understand the concept...? The lamb was good, I just don't see how that plate of food goes with the cheese fondue? I also ordered the old fashioned at the server's recommendation. It was good, but standard. Nothing special. Overall - definitely not worth a second visit from me.
google avatar

Yelp
Inconsistent but fixable. The cocktails were great, but the appetizer of olives was underwhelming. The lamb chop appetizer was amazing yet the house salad with shrimp was disappointing; the tomatoes were mushy and the shrimp were not fresh. The petit filet was good yet the side of vegetables was too oniony and wet, and the potatoes were not good. With some refinement, the place could be better.

Yelp
This place is NASTY! Food had a burnt taste, we mentioned to the waitress and chef but they didn't even care. We do have to mention we came in pretty late , they need said kitchen was closed but they sat us anyways . I guess to be some sort of grateful I have to say service was great ! But I still don't wanna pay 32$ for burnt scallop, with Rissoto that looks like white rice. I'm sorry guys service is one thing food QUALITY another . Place looks runs down and dirty as well.
google avatar

Abel C.

Yelp
Well where do I start! This place was disgusting. Chicken wings were slimy and the flavor tasted like toilet bowl water, the flounder Alfredo was more like dryer up frozen crusty flounder Swanson premade Alfredo. I think Sonic or any gas station hot dog rates better than this place.

Jose Javier C.

Yelp
This is the first time I give just one star in a review, and I feel it's high for this place. The restaurant is not bad, I would say average, but the owner urgently needs to learn how to treat his customers. He was very rude to my sister, we just stayed because it was late and almost all other places were closed, but we are definitely never going back again. If you can go elsewhere, I strongly recommend it.
google avatar

Yelp
Seriously we had an amazing dinner here on our honeymoon. Everything was perfect from the service, atmosphere, and the food. They make amazing drinks too!!! Great fancy date night environment.

Yelp
This upscale bistro is a hidden gem on the island. The food was cooked to perfection and was delicious. Quite the surprise on an island of mostly tourist traps. Some may find it on the pricey side but you get what you pay for. If your looking for some good food on the island definitely check this place out. I'll be back.

Erik B.

Yelp
Go on Wednesday for the BBQ. You'll be glad you did. We had the smoked turkey, brisket, and bacon, all were excellent. The coleslaw as a side was good too.

Lena T.

Yelp
at first sight, the audience of the restaurant did not seem like fine dining. Once we were seated, and our waiter started taking our order and suggesting menu items. We felt very special and cared for our waiter with Michael and he was superb. He recommended menu items, drink items and him coming back and checking on us and giving us a little history of the menu items and the dessert items was exceptional. It made our dining experience wonderful for my friends birthday. I would recommend anyone to have this dining experience, especially if they had Michael as a server Kudos to black sheep bistro

Yelp
Ordered the Big Mouth Burger and my wife ordered Poblano Chicken. After a considerable wait our server brings our food. On my $15 Big mouth burger plate sat greasy under cooked fry's and a standard size hammer bun with a slice of cheese and a meat patty. No lettuce, No tomato, No pickles, No kind of dressing?? I'd be embarrassed to charge $15 for this meal. Although eatable, not worth the money! My wife's dish was more appealing but nothing special for $24. Will not be returning.

Rick M.

Yelp
Went for the BBQ night . The BBQ was good along with the sides. Service was good however we sat at the bar so it was a little easier. We will go back again when the have BBQ night.

Aaron W.

Yelp
By far the worst restaurant I've ever been too, couldn't get a refund on my terribly cooked steak, mashed potatoes were terrible, the vegetables were undercooked, will NEVER dine here again and will spread the word. If it were possible to do 0 stars I would .
google avatar

Alan T.

Yelp
We are frequent visitors to Black Sheep and are never disappointed. There are other places on the island that claim to be "fine dining", but Black Sheep is the best by FAR. They have four fish dishes that I have tried and enjoyed all of them. Redfish, trout, flounder, and grouper. They always have specials and have enjoyed them as well. This night I had the pork chops and they never disappoint, second or third time to get them. They have a mashed potato of the day, and are good, especially the garlic mashed. Ask the manager Kala to make you a martini or an old fashion.
google avatar

Yelp
I don't care how hungry you are, don't go here. The wait staff is very friendly and courteous. The food is horrible. We started with the crab and lobster cake, though I couldn't find crab or lobster and it was very dry. My husband ordered their special, crab stuffed medallions, the crab cake was dry, tasteless and overcooked, the filet had no seasoning and very chewy. I had the tenderloin tips which were very chewy. Not worth the price. Very disappointed.

Yelp
There are as a little misunderstanding when we arrived for our table reservation and got seated at the bar instead. Fortunately, a table opened up and e got seated at a table. We ordered two bottles of Athena Pinot noir for $28 a bottle. Delicious. I ordered the shrimp and crab boil which had corn and red potatoes . Delicious. My companion ordered the scallops with risotto and she loved it. My other companion had the wahoo and she enjoyed that as well. They had a gentleman playing his guitar and singing. Really enjoyed the whole evening!

Ken W.

Yelp
Wow great meal. I had the pork chops and took some home. My wife liked her scallops. We were happy with the dense bread pudding. We saw this place on tv, as some cooking show is suppose to film there in the near future. Thought we'd try it. Good food and very casual.

Trey M.

Yelp
Terrible experience. I called ahead to make sure black street bistro could accommodate my family for dinner at 9:30, hostess said "YES! Come on in". As soon as we walk in the hostess tells us we have 5 minutes to order before the kitchen closes, as she's telling us this the cook walks out aggressively yelling at the hostess and us (2 adults and 2 CHILDREN) that the kitchen was f*king closed and was throwing his hands up acting like a maniac. Needless to say, we left and would never go back nor recommend. Good day.

Ben R.

Yelp
The young ladies working the bar were very attentive and introduced themselves by name. I ate the BBQ plate since it was BBQ night and ordered the regular sausage and turkey with coleslaw and Brussel sprouts which were both very delicious. This is a neighborhood favorite.

Holly H.

Yelp
My husband and I ordered take out last night. What a treat! The 14 ounce Ribeye was cooked perfectly and every ounce was edible. Blue cheese mash potatoes and veggies were great. We're going to go dine in and try something different. Highly recommend!

Sue D.

Yelp
Should actually be no stars. Service was abysmal until we called the staff out. Three people behind the bar, two servers--only 3 customers in the place and it took 10 minutes to be served and another 15 for drinks. The grouper smelled and tasted like it had gone bad and we had to send back. One $15 wine pour was barely 3 oz and another one was 6 oz. Servers didn't know the special prices and didn't offer the specials until asked. The two bills still had the returned bad fish charges and were all mixed up between parties. One dish was advertised with a side of broccoli. When I got it, there was one piece of it. I said something to the server and she said it was under the fish. It was not. She then had a side of broccoli made and brought over although by then I had sent the fish back because it Was bad. I had to go through and mark the bills with the right charges and assign them to the right parties on paper because the server couldn't figure it out. She was nice but very untrained. They were out of drinks listed on the menu. I've never been in such a poorly run place with no one in charge. To top it off, during the meal a large cockroach ran down the wall next to our table. One of our party crushed it when it got to the floor. Truly awful restaurant. We should have known when there were no customers to speak of on a Saturday night.
google avatar

Samantha L.

Yelp
Almost did not come after reading the reviews. Unfortunately, probably will not go back. We sat at the bar and honestly had great service contrary to what the reviews said about the service. This is way more like a local bar scene than the "fancy" dinner place it tries to portray. It is VERY overpriced and small portions. The risotto is literally wet rice. Someone else's review also said that and they were spot on. It's like the chef has never actually had risotto. If they changed up there menu to be more casual dining it would suit them much more.

Patty R.

Yelp
Very disappointing. Beginning with drinks, the infused martini tasted like there was no alcohol in it. We ordered the jumbo stuffed olives as an appetizer, but received a small tray of about 10 tiny little olives with tinier pieces of some sort of white cheese and a small piece of a pepper--nothing like described in the menu. Each of our entrees (there were 5 of us) had something lacking in it. The special chili was so spicy that it was inedible. The Alfredo, while steaming hot, had no seasoning or taste. It appeared to be linguini with milk sauce. The flounder filet was pan fried to the point of toughness. The steaks were tough, even though they were cooked to order. The broccoli was undercooked, as was the risotto, and lacked seasoning. It did not resemble any risotto we had ever had before. The jumbo scallops were half their size. The menu is over priced, especially for the quality of the food. The only bright side was our server, Reagan, who asked for feedback. She took our concerns to management, but no one, either chef or manager, came to the table. We were comped our happy hour-priced wines (2) and the tiny olives appetizer. While we appreciated the gesture, it felt like our concerns were not taken seriously. The menu on the website appears alluring, but the execution falls terribly short.
google avatar

Joanne Z.

Yelp
The service is so inconsistent. They cater to the locals and ignore those that come in Periodically. I'm a business traveler and come to town at least 1 time per month. Tonight I went in with 2 other people. We were ignored. The manager asked the locals if they needed anything and didn't even offer us a menu or a beverage. We waited for about 5 more minutes and the servers were leaning near the men's room talking. We walked out. Just not acceptable service the staff is always changing here. I did not recognize anyone except for the female manager with dark hair. Really sad! Good luck.

Doug B.

Yelp
Great food and service, love this place! An island favorite, Worth a visit! Great for drinks and dinner.
google avatar

Debbie P.

Yelp
This was the worst experience. We called and made reservation. We arrived and waited 20 mins to be greeted and sat. No host and at this point we figured maybe they're short staffed. Once we were sat it took another 20 minutes for our waitress to show up, what's even sadder is there was another server attending to her tables but not once would she make eye contact or tell us our waitress will be with us soon. Our server finally took our order. The short rib was burnt and she also dropped off a filet that she previously told us they were out of. Then she brings our check and it's not even our check. Total shit show. Needless to say I will not be back nor would I ever recommend this place. They really need to step it up!

MichaelandArlas B.

Yelp
We have eaten here many times in the past and have been pleased with the service and food. Not at all this time. Servers were rude and did not attend to our needs at all. I had to go up to the bar to ask for a glass of water that had been requested twice previously. Our appetizer was not enough to feed a toddler (bruschetta) and the flounder Alfredo was like eating boiled fish on butter noodles with no flavor. Very disappointing $200 spent on a less than subpar dinner.
google avatar

Tasha C.

Yelp
We were in from out of State for Christmas and my step dad recommended we try this place since it's considered a nice restaurant. The ambiance and staff were the only things nice about this place unfortunately. The food was 100% the worse we have ever experienced, although our pictures look good, the food was not. For $400 we got over cooked fish, scallops, steak that was explained to be melt in your mouth like butter....was actually tasteless, tough, & over cooked. Brussel sprouts were undercooked & tough. We cook better than this at home and at home we should've cooked. Even the wine was subpar. Save your money. We will not revisit this restaurant.

Yelp
Truly enjoyed our dinner here. Friendly service, and really good food. Our waitress was really great. It is a quiet hodden jewel!!!

Yelp
It doesn't look like much when you walk by it, but the atmosphere is pleasant and comforting. PI margarita was great and the food was excellent as well! I would recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
Oh Black Sheep - what happened to you? You used to be the best place on the Island. Amy's Airline Chicken --you've changed it. It's tough and chewy now. We have been faithful patrons for 7 years - the last 2 to 3 years this place has gone down hill. They either need to bring in a new chef or start all over. We WANT this place to be a hit again!!

Jamie S.

Yelp
If you go, be prepared for, "we are out of this and out of that." It started with the drinks...they were out of an ingredient, but the manager explained that they had just changed the recipe for that drink (it was not good and not right). Then on to appetizers...they were out of the first two choices. Then entrees, after three attempts the manager decided to just offer up something they did have. How can you be out of hamburgers? I guess the meat is imported from the mainland. I ordered the grilled grouper with risotto. The fish and veggies were okay, but the risotto was so undercooked it was inedible. Also a bad sign, they have a whole list of canned cocktails you can order. Imagine, "I would like the $32 grilled grouper and a can of Jim Beam with soda." My advice, stay away. Go to the Surfside Sandwich shop or Island Italian; anywhere but the Black Sheep.

Yelp
So my boyfriend and I went to this restaurant last night. The waitress was helpful and pleasant. The menu and atmosphere were fantastic. But the food was really not very good for the price. My boyfriend ordered the cioppino which didn't look anything like the way we were used to ( everyone has their own version I understand) but this was seriously like hunts tomato sauce with mussels, crab, shrimp and clams. They usually come as a broth. The waitress removed it from our ticket. I ordered the poblano chicken breast . They must be cutting cost because my chicken was cut in half ( super thin)and overcooked, the Cajun mashed potatoes were nothing fancy. If I'm paying 24.00 for chicken you better give me the whole piece. It's 13.00 for a pack of 8 chicken breast at HEB and I know you get that from Sysco for cost. The menu looks good but the quality was pretty terrible and that's too bad because we really loved the atmosphere. Not a lot of good places to eat and now I have crossed that one off the list and won't be back. Good luck

Chris C.

Yelp
Very good upscale dining. Pricey but worth it. This is our special occasion/date night spot on the island. It can get crowded on the weekend so plan accordingly. I recommend their entire menu as I have never had a bad meal here. Good ambiance and a fun place to go. Back for dinner after Rock and Roll sushi told us we had to eat outside as we did not have a reservation. Always top notch service, drinks, and excellent food!! I highly recommend!

Daniel P.

Yelp
Please bring back to Black Sheep from the past! Their poblano chicken was so good, had it tonight and it tasted like a tv dinner. Just disappointing!
google avatar

Rene C.

Yelp
My wife and I have been here a few times. The staff have always been fantastic. The food is spectacular. This place is casual beach, with a little fancy. I recommend you try it and won't be disappointed. Thanks guys

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a while. Finally made it in and I'm already looking forward to coming back. Very cool place for dinner. Waitstaff was tentative and informative. Food was nicely prepared. Horseradish mashed potatoes were really good. The little devil appetizer was delicious. Definitely worth a visit when on the island.

Yvonne O.

Yelp
Really disappointing dinning experience. Definitely not up to the previous standard. We waited for over an hour for our appetizer to come out which was not as described on the menu...Little Devils, Spicy Jalapeño stuffed w/Jack Cheese and bacon wrapped, these were just shrimp in a spicy vinaigrette. Not starting out well! Main courses arrived another hour later and were not good at all considering the prices! My Apple Bourbon Glazed Pork Chops were dry and had no flavor at all and as you can see had no glaze! My husbands Cajun Redfish was again not as detailed in the menu and did not have any shrimp included with the dish! Secondly, our 1/2 off wine Sycamore Lane Cabernet which was listed at $11.99 (Happy Hour Price) was drinkable but we later found out that this wine retails for $5.99 at Specs...that is just ripping off your diners and left a really bad impression of this rather sub-par dining experience. Our desserts were once again lacking in flavor, we chose Tiramisu and it was bland with no coffee or liqueur flavor which made it just like a sponge cake rather than an awesome Italian dessert!!! We understand restaurants are struggling and can be willing to accept long waits provided the food is good, prices are reasonable for what is offered and prepared as detailed in the menu! Overall not impressed and will probably not go back! Like others we have seen a drop in the quality of food prep and hope the owner addresses these issues with the kitchen.

Sarah K.

Yelp
This had got to be one of the worst restaurants I have ever stepped foot in. In my 52 years of life and dining in hundreds of restaurants the Black Sheep Bistro is in the top 3 of the dirtiest. Bugs (cockroaches may I add) are crawling around everywhere. They make the lights dark enough so you can't see your feet crunching on them. Then the pricing of their so called "delicious" food is a total waste of money. The service seemed to have forgotten they are at work and don't give a flash of smiles. Even the bartender seemed to hate her job there. Seriously such a rip off of a "fancy" dinner. This place is a joke. Save your money and go to Whataburger... better food there anyways.
google avatar

Heather T.

Yelp
This place is "cannot miss" in Corpus. The food is incredible. We had a bit of slightly slower service but I honestly cannot give it less than 5 stars because the food was completely worth the wait. Reasonably priced, too. They were also one of the only restaurants in the area that took a dinner reservation on a Saturday night. Everything was so tasty, flavorful, and the perfect temperature. Amazing specials were also offered. Seriously, don't miss it.
google avatar

Kathy N.

Yelp
Excellent filet done blue rare. That's hard to get done right. An excellent steak, great bourbon selection. Nice atmosphere.

Yelp
We love love love this place. The service was amazing. Our waitress (Carly) so friendly and helpful ordering for us and our 3yr old granddaughter. We had the pesto pasta with shrimp and the chiefs dish for the evening which was a Copia fish special. Emily the 3 yr ole had pasta with butter sauce and ate a lot of it which is saying a lot for her haha. I wish I had taken photo's to show off but I have to say really best food We have had on the island.

Amanda H.

Yelp
This place was recommended by a good friend. We went there with high hopes for a 30th birthday celebration. We left hungry, sober and disappointed. First we want to say our waitress was a real trooper as she came back over and over to tell us what the DIDN'T have. No Ultra, no Miller, no Grey Goose, no trout, the "ribeye" was not edible. The credit card machine was not working. We came to the condo and ate a frozen pizza. HBD anyway!
