Black Sheep Coffee (Gatwick Airport, North Terminal Departures) Review - London Gatwick Airport - London - The Infatuation

"“Time is just a construct” you whisper, as someone mispronounces your middle name over the tannoy. Yes, late airport arrivers—we see you and we would like to guide you into the loving matcha and baked goods embrace of Black Sheep Coffee in Gatwick’s North Terminal (there’s one in South too). With self-order screens and a huge array of expert, flavoured frappes to sustain you for your sprint to your gate, it’s ideal for speedy sustenance. If you’re more into planning your airport arrival time, there’s comfy seating opposite and the cheddar-loaded tuna melt is tasty enough to justify any side-eye from fish-sceptical holidaymakers. The supremely chocolatey sea salt cookie is worthy of a space in your overflowing carry-on too." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Google
Coffee Shop No. 483 Black Sheep Coffee Harrisonburg, VA March 23, 2025 I have a wishlist of towns and coffee shops; some of the places are chosen for their ratings, their location, and others I’ve selected because of their name. This coffee shop mad the list because of their name. Black Sheep Coffee sits on the corner of the historic town of Harrisonburg, Virginia. The coffee shop is bright and open. The baristas were friendly and engaging. The left side of the coffee shop is perfect for groups studying or just hanging out or if you prefer sipping your cortado solo than you can settle into one of the comfy leather wingback chairs. Enjoying life one cortado at a time!

Espresso was really good. It's hard to find a place that really tries to pull a good double espresso. These guys do. Croissant was good and service was great. Atmosphere was just what I look for in a coffee shop. Love this place.

Google
Went here with my wife, I had a plain hot latte and she had a cortado. My latte was good, however my wife’s cortado was very sour, the espresso in hers seemed under-extracted. But other times I’ve been here has been really good. Overall I definitely enjoy the coffee here.

First time coming to the new location and it did not disappoint, the quality of coffee and food is immaculate. Service was fast, very professional and courteous. Really tasty espresso and very smooth. New location downtown is rough for parking but not impossible, stop by if you get a chance!

Ordered a Mediterranean Panini that ended up being so soggy I could barely pick it up and had half the bread completely missing. Their to-go boxes don't stay closed, and the 5 girls working were too concerned with making themselves coffee to bother making a decent sandwich. I'm sure their bakery items and coffee is great, but this was an awful experience and sandwich. Edit: I visited on 7/03/2025 at about 12:05pm, right before I posted this review.

Stopped in while passing through Harrisonburg. Really great vibe, the latte I ordered was amazing, breakfast sandwiches were superb! Will definitely stop again if we’re ever passing through.

We walked in and were greeted by the lady who then asked if we know what we wanted. My wife and I had never been here so naturally we did not and we let her know this, and then she said "welcome in". I asked about their coffee and their caramel and they don't have caramel sauce, only flavored syrup, but they have a few housemade sauces including mocha. I regularly order an egg and cheese croissant when I go to a coffee shop with food so my wife and I both ordered one each. The egg and cheese croissant is a egg casserole on what seemed to be an untoasted croissant, but after touching it apparently is slightly toasted. This croissant was the most disappointing croissant I have ever had at any coffee shop in my life...and that's saying something. I ordered the mocha, which I don't normally do, but since they don't have real caramel and this was a homemade sauce I decided to try. The mocha tasted more like hot chocolate than a mocha, and as I'm sitting here writing this review I'm wondering if there was coffee in it. Overall I cannot figure out how this place has such a high rating as maybe this appeals to kids who drink coffee because it's cool and not people who actually enjoy their food and coffee.

Google
WOW!! What a wonderful experience this coffee shop was! Located in the center of Harrisonburg Virginia in what looks like a refurbished old factory building. The coffee shop itself is large with plenty of comfortable seating options ( sofas and armchairs ) as well as plenty of tables and chairs! They also carry their own line of T-shirt’s and sweatshirts! The Coffee is outstanding and the offer a great variety of pastry with Vegan options as well! The Staff is very attentive and friendly! What a GREAT FIND!!

Yelp
Great atmosphere - plenty of areas to sit either alone or a group! Cozy atmosphere- great menu so much to choose from! Panini was super!!!

Yelp
The coffee was amazing and the croissants were delightful. The coffee shop had cute and quaint decor.

Yelp
A great coffee shop in Harrisonburg! There is plenty of indoor seating and coffee is delicious! They also had some smoothie options as well. Pricing is comparable to other coffee shops. There is street parking so it may not be the easiest to get a spot nearby the shop during busy hours. All in all, great coffee shop and hope to visit again!

Yelp
Black Sheep has every other coffee shop beat for matcha! I've tried them all in Harrisonburg and Black Sheep has the best. Their chai is also nicely spiced. I love the seating options and cozy vibe in this coffee shop. It's my favorite place to get some work done. The baristas and cashiers are always nice and welcoming. Love!!!

Debi B.

Yelp
The place has a good vibe but the staff was rude, and my cappuccino was mediocre and lukewarm when I got it.

Diane R.

Yelp
Yes!! This is a wonderful place to stop! Coffee is SO great and the scones and biscuits are made in house and amazing!

Yelp
This is the some of worst coffee i've ever had in my life, what I assume is the owner or manager of some sort seemed like he had a stick up his you know what. Overall bad energy, made me uncomfortable. The girls that were working their seemed like very sweet people and the carrot cake I had was the best i've ever tried, but I can't get passed the taste of the espresso , I had the vanilla latte and it's undrinkable.

Yelp
Cute and cozy shop with simple but sufficient selection! The shop is very open and has plenty of space for seating. Some industrial type seats and some very cozy old furniture. The walls and counters are a little busy with signs and items, but once you find the menu, it's easy to read. There are maybe 4-6 breakfast items, mostly the usual biscuit sandwiches, but they also have some creative wraps available. I would like to see a few more items with meat, but you can add bacon to anything! Hannah was very sweet and helpful in making selections. The other girl who helped us was also kind. Something really enjoyable about the atmosphere is there wasn't loud music playing! I've found this more often than not in local shoppes; I find my company and I competing with the music to be heard. Not the case here! My husband, 5 year old daughter and I chatted easily without struggling to hear or worse, without having some unsavory music forced upon us My husband and daughter both got BEC biscuits. Enjoyable, but nothing noteworthy. I ordered a spinach, blue cheese and egg wrap, which was delicious! The only meat option I could add was bacon, so I did, but they forgot to include. They quickly gave me some very tasty slices of bacon but I couldn't put them in the wrap. As a breakfast item, it would have been nice to have sausage as an option, but even without, it was very good! We also ordered the peanut butter chocolate coffee cake. Sounds delicious, right?! It was tasty cake, but besides the chocolate chips, we couldn't taste anything but usual coffee cake. The piece was a substantial piece, which would have been great had it been worth the calories. We threw most of it away. The coffee was enjoyable. Again, a simple selection of one light and one dark roast. The lack of options is something we appreciated as opposed to being met with a surplus of blend options. Overall, I would visit Black Sheep again and I recommend it for a lighter fare or just a good place to read. If you're really hungry, save this for another time.

Yelp
If you know me, you know every first visit to a city is basically a self-guided tour of food and coffee. Harrisonburg was no different. I began such a journey by looking up some of the top rated coffee shops on Yelp (hello!) and then wandered around after visiting them. Such is how I came upon Black Sheep. It wasn't much further than the first two I went to, but apparently was just far enough away to be hidden from my path. The outside held only a singular table with two chairs. I wondered if more room awaited inside. Oh, it was there. I walked into the familiar aroma of espresso shots being pulled and orders being called out. To the right were the drinks and menu, to the left a number of coffee related items. I saw the delicious breakfast menu, but I had topped out on food and was close to the same with caffeine. So I ordered a cold brew. I asked if they were a roastery, which they aren't, but they use regional roasteries for their beans, a local dairy for their creamery, and other local businesses for tea leaves and other items. I am with that 100%. While the order was being poured, I did a quick walk around. Plenty of seating inside (an entire second space to the left) and a few new-to-me items on the shelves. One was a fun looking travel mug from w&p. I almost picked it up, but knew I had more exploring to do. The cold brew, solely on ice, was delicious. I had emptied the cup by the time I rounded the block. I will be back for food and more drinks. Until then, stop in and try it out for yourself. And if you even think you want the travel mug, just get it. You'll be glad you did.

Yelp
Food and service are always good God vibes and the coffee is the best part. I've been drinking black sheep coffee for years.

Yelp
Best cafe i've been to in harrisonburg!! I myself am not a coffee girl, but I love a good matcha and can confirm this may be the best matcha I've ever had... EVER. The prices are great here and the inside ambiance is very causal and cozy. There is plentiful seating and a separate area with couches to chillax. The staff were very friendly and overall helpful. Highly recommend if you're in town!

Yelp
Hands down the hottest girls you'll ever find in a coffee shop. Esp that brown haired cutie, don't know her name, but goodness gracious man alive! I'm not sure she even knows how smoking hot she really is.

Yelp
Typical coffee shop with eclectic vibes. Menu is good but service is the usual thing for a caffeine hub. Parking? Not sure about that
google avatar

Yelp
A cute shop with really really good coffee and expresso. Good isn't bad either but baked goods can be inconsistent, sometimes amazing and sometimes just OK. Good selection of scones, muffins, ect. Really nice staff. Parking can be tough though.

Yelp
We came to Black Sheep to enjoy a coffee and plan a future vacation together. The coffee was excellent, and they had plenty of other beverage options. Their baked goods looked awesome. The atmosphere was super relaxed and chill. There were plenty of tables to sit and work at... and there's free WiFi! Definitely will be a regular for us!

Dan C.

Yelp
The shop has a great atmosphere with plenty of space. Coffee was good and friendly service.

Yelp
I went here based on the great reviews....I wouldn't ever go back. The food was bland at best. I had the Mediterranean panini- it sounded so promising, but was incredibly disappointing. They used thin sandwich bread that just got mushy when the pesto was applied and heated. And the "salad" that came as the side was literally nothing more than a pile of spinach leaves and a cup of dressing (nothing else). With a town so full of actually good food, I don't understand what people are reviewing and eating here. We had been in town several months prior to this and went to Lola's for a sandwich and it was phenomenal. I'll stick to them.

Yelp
We were in Harrisonburg to drop our kid to a JMU Theatre camp. We wanted a coffee and found Black Sheep Coffee. It has a nice college town coffeehouse vibe. Service was friendly. Nitro cold brew was a HUGE bonus for me. I was a bit surprised that I was charged an additional $1 for a small amount of oat milk. Husband had a Cortado and said it was very good. We would come back and would recommend.

Yelp
Fantastic cappuccino, thank you! We enjoyed our time in the cafe on a cool and breezy Saturday.

Yelp
I'll start off by saying this is a great study or hangout place, it has lots of seating and a nice ambience, as well as some coffee and tea related products available for purchase. As far as the coffee goes, I haven't been impressed. I was excited about the large array of flavors available, so I ordered a latte with toasted marshmallow (and something else I don't remember) and my bf got a flavored latte as well. We both weren't really satisfied with the flavor of either of them. We decided to give them another try recently and both got different flavors again, and it was still not good. There wasn't a strong coffee flavor and what I could taste tasted bitter. The flavors I ordered were barely detectable. That being said, I'm a big fan of flavored coffee. So maybe if that's not your thing, you might find their coffee alright. However if you're into lattes and looking for an exciting flavor combination, I'm not sure you'll get exactly what you're looking for here. Maybe ask for extra syrup?

David D.

Yelp
The owner refused me service due to my service dog. My dog was not misbehaving in any way. He was laying on the floor next to the table I was sitting at. When I informed the owner that the ADA prohibits refusal of service based on my disability or service animal, he became belligerent, verbally attacking me and calling the police. He told the police that I was to be trespassed due to my attitude and the police refused to uphold my rights as a disabled veteran. I was made to leave the establishment. I have filed a complaint with the department of justice.

Yelp
I drink a lot of coffee and visit a lot of different coffee shops and this may be my favorite that I've ever been to. Located in a cool little group of shops called the Ice Box, Black Sheep is nestled perfectly into its surroundings. The shop is very cozy and perfect for nearby JMU students. The coffee is very good. It's not too bitter and has a great flavor. They bake their own pastries and they are excellent. I HIGHLY recommend the white chocolate raspberry crumble cake. Another great option is their simple goat cheese and tomato biscuit. If you are in the area or passing through, you must visit!
google avatar

Yelp
WOW. The baristas here are super nice and very informative. The cold brew is awesome and they even sell the beans by the ounce! They have breakfast options and lunch paninis if you're feeling hungry. This coffee shop in this small town is definitely one of the better ones I'd say. Great place to hang out and study as well obviously because it houses a great crowd.

Yelp
black sheep coffee is my favorite coffee shop in harrisonburg! a cozy coffee place tucked in the brick ally of harrisonburg gives a warm atmosphere yet it doesn't lack in natural lighting. from the brick to the felt couches to the work area it is perfect combinations of textures and comfort that makes this place unique! however, i'm not giving this coffee shop 5 stars simply because the inconsistency in the coffee. i have had really great coffees but occasionally i'll get a coffee that isn't quite the quality that would be ideal. i'll order an oat cap and it is either too milky or weak. BUT don't let this stop you from going to this place! it's is absolutely perfect for getting work done, meeting with friends or curling up and reading a good book! always great service!

Jill W.

Yelp
Good food. Good coffee. Food is a bit overpriced but coffee is so worth it! Can get really busy but it's nice to go in the morning or mid day!
google avatar

Pamela J.

Yelp
Very cool spot. Had I known this wasn't too far off the highway last trip, I'd have come here and not Starbucks. I always prefer independent spots whenever available over the chains. Black Sheep is also an example of awesome repurposing of old industrial buildings. Why this can't happen countrywide is absolutely mind boggling. This particular building housed several other cutting edge dining options, retail and office space. At Black Sheep you've got pastry choices including vegan and gluten free along with hot food items. Had I seen that menu first, I'd probably have ordered something from there instead of grabbing a muffin. The space is uber industrial chic - perfect to write your novel or muse about how messed up this alleged reality we find ourselves existing in actually is.

Lily W.

Yelp
I come here pretty regularly but was dissapointed enough with my order today that I wanted to share. I always order the Mediterranean panini which is a vegetarian option, however I received the panini with a bunch of chicken. Additionally, I ordered it with a side salad but received no salad dressing and just have a pile of leafs to eat like a rabbit lol. The food here is pretty expensive and I don't complain, but when I spend $14 on a sandwhich I can't eat? Kinda sucks:( Again, I order this weekly or every other week and have never had this issue before. So whoever was working today on 2/17/24 thanks for nothing:(

Yelp
Well... I found my go to coffee shop in Harrisonburg! I like some of the others and I'm sure they make great latte art... But I found a coffee shop that offers many single origin roasts from 3 different roasters. They have Red Rooster, Little Amp and Ceremony Coffee Roasters. All serve variety of beans from Ethiopian Worka, Sumatra, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Burundi, Mexico etc. I really enjoyed the Ethiopian Ardi from Little Amp! It was slightly floral, full nutty body with a nice sweet acidity as a finish. I highly recommend it. It's a large, open and beautiful coffee shop with plenty of space for everyone to park and study. It's a bit hidden and you'll have to navigate to get there from the farmer's market parking lot. It's part of the ice house building.

Yelp
So... I was looking on Yelp for a nice new coffee house to try why visiting Massanutten and came across this place that was 1 of 6 and furthest away from my resort, but I liked what I saw online and wanted to share that same experience Yelpers bragged about. Locating this place was a task. Once we arrived to the address my Google maps brought us to, there was no sight of the business although it was listed on the main street sign. Once I got out and asked a gentleman that I saw walking, he was able to point me in the right direction and from the way that we came, the business is down a short hallway on the left. It was the warm open coffee house feel as expected. I saw another yelper posted from here and she got a chicken bacon chicken panini. I was so ready to try it! How about they stop serving food at 4:00 p.m., it was 4:02 p.m.. The young lady did admit they were also out of bread. I felt a little bit better I guess. I asked for recommendations for cold iced tea was told the most popular at this time is the black peach tea so I tried that. My husband got a coffee with caramel added. We informed the young lady of how we wanted our beverages sweetened to find out that we are responsible for sweetening them ourselves. I'm definitely a coffee house snob and enjoy the experience but I don't enjoy laboring over my beverages. I wouldn't mind paying extra for them to sweeten the beverages for real. Nevertheless it wasn't that difficult of a task for me but it was for my husband so he'll probably never ever ever ever ever return but I might try this place during earlier hours to obtain a sandwich. The open seating area was nice and spacious as well as provides privacy areas for those who need it. Outside of selling beverages and food part time, they did have a few clothing items for sale that advertise the business. I also noticed the big board that said 5 year Anniversary, Happy Anniversary! That's all folks!!

Yelp
Wow what a great coffee shop. I'm a student and always appreciate the plentiful of outlets as well as tables for group meetings. But this store has independent desk spots with walls between, providing a great study space. There are couches as well for some comfy seating. Great coffee selection with cold brew available! I enjoyed a warm chai latte that was full of flavor and spices! I also got 2 cookies for $1.50! The lemon cookies was my favorite of all time! Loved that they made customers aware of plastic use and make an option to use plastic lids! Go green! Barista was super friendly and patient as I decided which cookie to get. Loved the ambiance and will definitely be back for more!

Yelp
Cute coffee shop, chorizo wrap was delicious, latte was very good & service was courteous
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I spent a weekend in Harrisonburg and decided to explore a bit in the area. I am all about supporting small, local businesses and definitely prefer checking out a local business instead of your same old coffee chain. We had a latte, a hot chai, a chorizo wrap, and a bacon egg and cheese on a biscuit. All of this was really good and the biscuits were phenomenal. While Black Sheep Coffee has great food and coffee, I was totally taken back by the lack of precautions taken by the restaurant and the staff during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Per the state of Virginia, at the time of our visit, face masks are required to be worn indoors. Two of the three employees were not wearing the masks as they were preparing food and drinks for guests. Furthermore, there was not a single hand sanitizer in the restaurant to use after having to touch and sign on their system when paying with a credit card. I was able to use the restroom to wash my hands afterwards. Like I said before, the food and coffee were great here so I'd definitely come back for that.. but I don't appreciate the lack of consideration of safety of others. If you are not able to follow state mandated rules, I wouldn't have reopened. Management should be looking into this issue and taking it seriously.
google avatar

Clare P.

Yelp
walking in I was greeted with a smile (from behind a mask of course) and the smell of fresh baked goods- yum! I had an iced oat milk latte with blackberry syrup. The espresso had good flavor and there was just enough syrup to add flavor but it wasn't overly sweet. overall the place had good vibes and good coffee, couldn't ask for more!
google avatar

Lauren G.

Yelp
The perfect spot to hangout with friends or study. Nice big open spaces with tons of seating. I got a latte and it was amazing . The service was fast and friendly. I could hangout here for hours because it is so cozy and inviting!
google avatar

Patrick B.

Yelp
Black Sheep Coffee is a really cool coffee shop. They source their coffee from different roasters from around the nation. When I dropped by, they had at least five roasters to choose from, and at least two single-origin options per roaster. They have a great space in which you can hunker down and get stuff done, or just catch up with a couple of friends. My only thing was that it took a little while for my pourover to come out, as a few people ahead of me ordered pourovers as well. They only had two pourover drippers, so that slowed things down a bit. Otherwise, I loved the entire vibe of the shop and look forward to coming back whenever I'm in Harrisonburg again!
google avatar

Jeremy W.

Yelp
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. 60 minute wait for coffee, will never go back. Service has dropped off severely since our last visit. Would recommend only for retirees who don't have time sensitive responsibilities
google avatar

Ben W.

Yelp
1st time here and I was impressed. Saw one 2 star review that said the food and coffee was great but 2 starred them due to 'not wearing masks during covid'. Apparently a lot can change in a month. Customers and staff were mask complient Very cool and helpful staff helped this old guy navigate the menu. All wearing masks. The quality of service and the food was better than the seven Starbucks in this town. It was the arcade game by the door that really sold me. Played all my favorite games from the early 80s! Pac-Man, dog dug, frogged and galaga! Had the star hill local dark roast and the bacon egg and cheese biscuit. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Katy R.

Yelp
Delicious, Strong Coffee! If you're looking for a pick me up, this is definitely the spot! I love strong, sweet coffee and my vanilla latte with a shot of espresso was perfection! It was affordable and great! (Not a 5/5 because I didn't try their food.)
google avatar

Justo M.

Yelp
I enjoyed the college atmosphere and the peacefulness and vibe. My wife had an oat milk cappuccino which had the perfect crema, and I had a very good Cortado which had a little less milk than I prefer because I Miami we take more milk in a Cortado. My Cortado tasted like it only had a tablespoon of milk, but because their coffee is of excellent quality the drink passed the drinkability test. Great all around spot.
google avatar

Priti W.

Yelp
Man do they need to learn about seasoning or maybe sauces. I don't know. The panini was made well and had all the components of a great meal but the lack of salt/pepper ruined all potential happiness. Also parts of the avocado were black. Not a horrible panini just needs some work.

Lori F.

Yelp
We pulled off the highway for the bathroom. We drove all the way here because they had gluten free wraps and panini. Line was quite long. When we finally got to the cash register we were told they were out of food and only had drinks. Why not post that? Or announce it every few minutes instead of ignoring the line nearly out the door. And how do you run out of everything, even the regular gluten containing breads, by 10am? Bad management. 10am on Saturday there should be a manager there handling things.
google avatar

Edita G.

Yelp
One of the best tasting capuccino I've ever had! Awesome and very hip establishment, too :) thumbs up!
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
Got a coffee this morning also got a chorizo wrap for a lunch to eat later. Just tried to eat wrap and the hash browns/potatoes weren't fully cooked. I know it was busy this morning, but I threw away a $7 wrap because I didn't want to each crunchy potatoes uncooked potatoes. If it takes longer to cook, then it takes longer to cook.

Yelp
Early on a Sunday before heading to the golf course we stopped by Black Sheep Coffee for some quick food. It was quiet at the time and both of us ordered the bacon egg and cheese and I got an apple juice as well. The sandwich had good flavor was filling however the egg had an egg shell that god mixed in so I'm giving it a 4 star for my experience. In addition my wife also ordered a tea that took longer than both of us expected. Overall it was a good experience though and we would consider coming back if we're in town in the future.

Yelp
We passed through Harrisonburg on our drive from Nashville to Baltimore, and we stopped in at Black Sheep Coffee for a much needed caffeine boost. I was so impressed by Black Sheep Coffee! I had never been to Harrisonburg and didn't really know much about it. Black Sheep Coffee - and the bit of Harrisonburg we saw as we drove through - had a cool, hipster but without trying too hard vibe. The coffee shop was large (had seating inside and outside), had great looking food offerings (the pies and quiches were particularly tempting), had great service, and had great coffee (I had a class cappuccino). The coffee shop is inside a new, modern building, and you can't see it from the front of the building by the brewery. I used pictures on Yelp to find the way to the door (scroll through the pictures until you find a helpful one). A coffee shop I'd be happy to return to if I'm ever in Harrisonburg again.
google avatar

Schäfer G.

Yelp
Went in to get some studying done and grab a bite to eat. The cashier was a bit rude, but I realized it was because he was doing everything. He was cleaning table, rang us up, and even made our coffee, while the 3 girls in the back were just talking. I figured 3 girls in the back would mean our lunch would be made relatively quickly. Nope, took about 30 minutes to make our sandwiches (that just had cheese, bacon, and avocado...). To top it off the wifi didnt work at all. Ended going to Barnes and Noble. 2 minutes and it was already a better experience than Black Sheep.
google avatar

Candace C.

Yelp
I don't normally write reviews but this place was so bad I need to. Very disappointed with my bacon egg and cheese biscuit, it was dry and cheese non existent. Service was horrible with the girl making sandwiches on her cell, so the order took forever. My daughters Hot chocolate was watery and they messed up her food order. My sons croissant was burnt and his Americana coffee nasty. If you want to go there for the atmosphere I would recommend only have bottled or canned drinks and don't order food.

Yelp
I turned on my coffee sonar (a.k.a. the Yelp app) in search of an authentic pour over spot in Harrisonburg, VA. The wife and I had to travel up that way unexpectedly for unfortunate reasons. We both awoke in need of coffee, but the continental hotel breakfast brew wasn't going to cut it. So off we went! This hidden gym is adjacent to the JMU campus, and is likely frequented by students. It's clearly a newer spot in town and is in a still developing center that comes off as industrial; looking very much like a hardhat area. There was only one other patron inside when we entered, but don't be fooled. Your GPS has not misled you. Park the car and walk into the darkness. You will not be disappointed. Over the meadow and through the woods...no wait, I mean, over the gravel and through the semi-paved tunnel-like structure you'll find Black Sheep. Small, quaint, and unique, this little coffee shop boasts a broad pour over menu. Various specialty coffees are, of course, also available. There is limited seating around some of the smallest tables I've ever seen. Somehow, the tiny tables are a part of the appeal. There is also a small bar area, an arcade game, and a communal "doctor up your java" table for those of you in need of cream, sugar and such. They offer a few pastries for purchase as well. The staff was incredibly friendly. At one point I tasted my wife's latte and made a face. My face had nothing to do with the latte, it was just bad timing as I reacted to something she remarked in conversation. The barista behind the counter took this to mean that I thought the coffee was bad and immediately offered to make it right. I thought her offer to right any wrong was an incredible gesture, and showed that they really cared about the customer experience. I had to explain that I thought the coffee was perfect and reassure her that my facial expression was not at all indicative of her work. In fact, my pour over was one of the best I'd ever encountered. Unfortunately, they do not use counter culture beans, but the coffee was great nonetheless. I highly recommend this place to coffee lovers in the area. I wish I were closer to visit more often myself. I hope business takes off for them. I'm sure once the construction around the immediate area wraps and word spreads, they will be a happening hangout.

Yelp
I was out here for the weekend and of course needed to check out the coffee scene. Yelp led me to here! Parking is relatively easy as there is a huge parking lot across from the plaza. I walked in on a Saturday morning and it was pretty packed with college kids as JMU was across the street. They had quite the extensive list of coffee beans from multiple roasters and also had a pretty good selection of coffees to be done pour over method. Settled for a recommendation by the barista for the pour over but with how busy they were - it took almost 10 minutes to get my coffee and I felt he couldn't dedicate himself to the pour over process. In turn - the coffee wasn't on point as coffee snobs know - the process and attention needed is super important. I also got a cold brew - it was solid. They use a toddy so the quality and consistency will be there! The atmosphere is pretty cool though. They even have an old school arcade gaming system there with plenty of lounging area. Definitely worth checking out but only during off-hours Next time I plan to also try out the food. Lots of people were getting the sausage and eggs sandwich. Looked real good and portions looked large!
