Where to Eat and Drink at the Head of the Charles Regatta | Eater Boston

"This tiny shop is a 12-minute walk from Magazine Beach (next to the starting line) and offers bagels and schmears to-go alongside coffee and tea. The bagels are freshly baked at the shop’s sister cafe in Harvard Square. You may also find top-notch pastries and donuts from local bakeries such as Iggy’s and Union Square Donuts on weekends." - Valerie Li Stack

Im a delivery driver and last Saturday was my first time going here. First of all as soon as I came in the store I was greeted by the workers and I literally felt like I was walking into a friend or families house the way I was greeted it was such a great interaction. Most the time When I deliver to places they never offer me anything to eat or drink but at black sheep market they insisted I eat or have a coffe. I took them up on there offer and had a French vanilla iced coffe and let me say better than any dunks or Starbucks coffe you could get. The real reason im writing this review is to basically thank them and let everyone else know what kind people they are. Im sure they probably won't remember me if they read this but hope them all the best. we meed

Bagels coffee and other quick goods in a convenient neighborhood location. Huge improvement from what was there before. A varied selection of Whole Foods style food staples.

The sweetest ladies work here. I came for a bagel but left with pastries, bagels, and puppy treats! What a quaint neighborhood market. Although they do not specialize in bagels as the Harvard square location does, they carry a sufficient selection of high quality products. Please come visit and support!

Great bagels! The market has a fun selection, especially when cooking and missing that one item, in a pinch. Excited for prepared foods to come when the place gets another permit beyond local grocer, later this year.

I really appreciate their presence on the block because it is so conveniently located for me. Their pricing is reasonable and the staff are always kind and try to help. This place is dog friendly. My dog is very spoiled with them and wants to get in even when the store is closed. The store is very well kept. Always delightful to visit.

Google
The people here are very unprofessional. The owner has a bad attitude and everyone else looks at you as if you’re not supposed to be there. Doesn’t give a welcoming feeling at all.

Google
Go-to for excellent pastries, donuts, bagels and croissants. They offer many choices and are well loved by the locals. Great quality and delicious

Yelp
Place is cute, staff is friendly and good food. The menu is misleading. An example, if you want a bagel and scallion cream cheese, you can get it but you must buy a whole tub of the cream cheese. Pasteries and baked goods looked good.

Yelp
What a lovely addition to the neighborhood! The curated and changing selection is great and the staff could not be nicer. But try to avoid the older lady if you are not up for a heavy dose of cliched Cambridge. She has arty glasses and holds up the line lecturing customers about the oil industry or Irish poetry, at pains to communicate to all how overly-educated she is. It makes me cringe I feel so embarrassed for her. She is nice to dogs though because they can't roll their eyes or do the gagging gesture. Everyone else besides her is super cool!

Yelp
Lovely little place to pick up essentials at beginning or end of day. Nice people, good selection of healthy items. I experienced none of the snark described in other reviews!

Yelp
It is a cute little market that is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. However, as others have stated, the staff are a bit snarky, rude and condescending. Especially if you pass up on the tip screen they force you to choose from. I'm fine with tipping if you make me a sandwich, but if I'm simply shopping for a few products - no way. In fact, I will walk the few extra blocks to Whole Food or Trader Joe for things I could easily get here, just to avoid the tip drama...

Yelp
Part cafe, part specialty grocery, Black Sheep Market is a baaadass new addition to the neighborhood! Black Sheep Market is an outpost of Black Sheep Bagel Cafe in Harvard Square. (I'm told they do carry some of their signature bagels, but the person working at the counter explained you have to arrive before around 10:00 to snag one on the weekends.) Whether you intend to or not, you'll probably leave here with at least one bakery item-- it's hard to walk around big case filled with pastries and Union Square donuts (Saturdays/Sundays only!) without giving into temptation! I ended up with an apple danish and a drip coffee. The coffee was great, and they'll have a full espresso bar when they ramp up to Phase 2. Phase 2 will also bring bagel sandwiches. The market carries a stellar selection of specialty items (similar style to Formaggio or Savenor's). The shelves were full of fresh fruit, cheese, snackies like nuts and dried fruits, and fresh loaves from Nashoba Brook Bakery This would be a perfect spot to stop for picnic supplies as you head down towards the river!

Yelp
Black sheep is a charming neighborhood market with a fee notable standouts: their cold brew latte, their fresh bread, and their donuts (on the weekends). Their staff is super friendly, especially the owners who pop in most weekends, and the popularity of black sheep among locals is evidenced by the longer lines at peak hours (around 10-11 on the weekends, 9 during the week)

Yelp
The staff is snarky and rude. Otherwise it's a good convenient but overpriced neighborhood market. Oh and the bread they get locally (the loaves, not the bagels) is always hard and not good. Bagels are good, though.

Yelp
Black sheep has very good sandwiches. The zaatar bagel is my favorite and I get the byo option so I can get a vegan sandwich.

Yelp
What a cute little place! They have such a sweet selection of clearly carefully sourced goodies here, from groceries to pastries. On a July 4th walk to Magazine Beach, my friend and I stopped in to grab a quick pastry and coffee for our stroll. They usually have bagels from their café, but it was closed for the holiday so I had a nice muffin and yogurt instead. Probably not where you'll get your weekly grocery haul, but a very nice stop for a treat! I'll definitely need to check out the café.

Yelp
This has been a great addition to the neighborhood, and it looks like they're carrying more bagels now (they used to run out of them super quickly.) Besides bread and pastries, they have nice basic items (dairy, spices, fruit, pasta...) so It's super convenient when we run out of stuff between our bigger grocery shopping visits to the supermarket. They also sell plants and I'm always super tempted to get one. I wish they were open on Mondays! It has already happened a couple of times that we forget they're closed and we arrive to find a locked door...

Yelp
Please consider racial bias training for your predominantly white staff. As a brown woman who lives in the neighborhood, I have experienced micro aggressions, one this morning that leaves an unpleasant taste and is frankly unacceptable. I can take my business elsewhere where I am treated with dignity and respect.
