Once I had created the weapon of a Jedi, it was time to seek out the robes of a Jedi and that meant a visit to Black Spire Outfitters. The Black Spire Outfitters is one of several vendors in Merchant Row next to Ronto Roaster in the Black Spire Outpost. Since the Resistance and First Order have a presence on Battu, Black Spire Outfitters cater to both the Light and Dark Side of the Force.
Rohlinism: The most successful businesses are the ones that appeal to the widest spectrum of people on the planet!
Jedi Robes are the monk-like garments worn by the members of the Order. From the time they are padawans, members of the order are allowed to choose their clothing and with a few exceptions most members chose the garments associated with the Jedi Order. In contrast, the Sith believe in material possessions and their robes are personalized and part of their identity. The garb made the individual Sith distinguishable which helped intimidate allies and enemies alike.
Black Spire Outfitters ( https://bit.ly/31YSeMd ) is right next to Kat Saka's Kettle in the Merchant Row and if you need more of a reference point there are adult size ( https://bit.ly/2ZZfsje ) and youngling size ( https://bit.ly/2XzObqh ) Jedi and Sith robes on either side of the entrance. Since this was my first time visiting this establishment, I took some time familiarizing myself with the merchandise before I started checking items for the appropriate size and fit. There are no dressing rooms on Batuu, so if you wish to try on the apparel offered by Black Spire Outfitters you will have to put it on over your own clothing.
For female off-worlders there is a full set of Rey's Ahch-To Outfit ( https://bit.ly/2xoBCPC ) for younglings and adults on hangers and belts in a couple of large vases near the hung outfits. My stepdaughter Jessica was interested in these items and purchased a top, vest and arm wraps while her boyfriend Kevin fell to the Dark Side here and bought a Sith robe, tunic and belt.
There is a decent selection of Jedi robes, tunics and belts ( https://bit.ly/2Xi0u6s ) here and after some searching I was able to locate a robe and tunic in a size which I thought would fit my frame. The next step was trying on the sizes I had selected and one of locals working the shop was helpful in making sure my Jedi garb ( https://bit.ly/2IYkpTU ) had the proper fit. My stepdaughters provided some credit relief to my wallet by purchasing the robe for me as a belated stepfather's day gift. I was responsible for purchasing the tunic and Black Spire Outfitters will respect your Disneyland Passholder Credentials if they are presented at the time of purchase. The prices are probably on the prohibitive side for everyone except the most dedicated Force-sensitives.
After taking stock of what Black Spire Outfitters had to offer, I thought of a dialog between the Force Ghost of Arthur Jeffries (Professor Proton) and Dr. Sheldon Cooper on the Big Bang Theory:
Arthur Jeffries: Can, can I get out of this muumuu now?
Dr. Sheldon Cooper: Those are the robes of the Jedi, the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy.
Arthur Jeffries: And they, they, they don't wear underwear.
According to Black Spire Outfitters, Jedi don't wear boots or pants either since the store didn't carry these items. I hope in the future Black Spire Outfitters will find an off-planet source that can provide boots and pants so this can become a one-stop location for your Jedi and Sith needs.
My experience at Black Spire Outfitters was a good step in my journey to becoming a Jedi Knight, but I was surprised Darth Mouse would miss an opportunity to fleece off-worlders of more credits by failing to provide all the garb necessary to join the Jedi Order or Sith Empire!
