Google
Well priced drinks. Came here years ago, and I'm glad they are still around. Got a 25% sweet pear tea drink, and, personally, I would get it sweeter next time. The 25% sweet lychee tea drink, though, was the right amount of sweetness for me. Overall, I will come again when I am around the area again. The place is small and has no restrooms.

Google
Small shop offering very unique boba flavors and combinations Based on other reviewers I got the Matcha Mango Latte and added lychee jelly to it, this was one of the best boba drinks I've had. I also did the 75% sweetness. We also one of the seasonal black sesame drinks, I thought it was really good too but didn't quite live up to the Matcha Mango. Next time I want to try the taro matcha

Google
Little to no interaction with staff. Your order via the touch screen and wait for your banner to be called. My only complaint us that there’s no posted menu so you can’t see the choices until you get to the touch screen. My drink was a strawberry lychee green tea with lychee jelly. It was really yummy and decently priced.

Google
One of the best bobas I’ve ever had - thank you! Great flavor and texture.

Google
This place us the perfect sweetness for a treat. You can choose the sweetness level on most of their drinks. Not their Black Sugar House Milk, because it comes sweet, but trust me that you don't want to change it if you like drinking the milk of cereal after Frosted Flakes.

Google
The black sugar boba is actually delicious. I think I cried a bit drinking it first. Theres a carmelly taste, and the flavor is so unique. The boba is perfectly textured. Oh my god

Google
Best boba shop in San Francisco. Their mango matcha boba is the best . This is the first time I tried this combination and it was so perfect. It's sweet and savory at the same time. The matcha isn't as sweet but it complements the mango flavor.

Sally

Google
Weak tea flavor. They put 100% sugar even when you ask for less. Kind of like drinking watery syrup. Almost undrinkable.

Yelp
Still my absolute favorite place for black sesame latte and they added a hojicha! Earthy and roasted and absolutely delicious still. Our drinks are out so quickly, and the flavor is always consistent! I will always come here whenever I'm in the city!

Yelp
I was staying in Union Square and this was one of the boba shop options near my hotel. It's a small shop with barely any standing room, and no tables. It's a to-go shop. I ordered a milk tea drink. However, I didn't realize they got my order wrong until I walked away a couple blocks from the shop and started sipping my drink. By then I didn't want to walk all the way back for them to correct my drink. They gave me some seasonal ginger milk tea drink, which tasted fine. It was very gingery, and I wasn't feeling it. For someone who loves the strong ginger taste, this is probably the drink for them. I get that order mistake happens, so I just let it go. This place isn't bad. I just wish I got the drink I ordered.

Yelp
Very close to Union Square. Very small spot indoors so it's mainly an order and go boba spot. I wanted a drink with boba already included so I ordered the black sugar latte ($5.95 before tax). The drink comes cold and I picked less ice, medium sweet, and in a paper cup (they offer this as the sustainable option). The straw is also compostable commercially so yay! My drink was sweeter than I anticipated, given I ordered medium sweet (which is the less sweet option), but still delicious. There's minimal interaction with the employees. You order at the self serve kiosk (unless you want to pay in cash. I didn't see a discount mentioned for paying cash) and then they bring out the drinks and call out the name of the order. Also didn't realize that SF has a healthy mandate of 6%, which looks to be separate than the SF city employer mandate of 5%, so my order was applicable for the 6% mandate, but not the 5% mandate.

Yelp
Strawberry Lychee Green Tea + Boba ($6.73) Rating: 5/10 - the boba itself was the perfect texture and sweet flavor! - The strawberry/lychee flavor was WAY too sweet (even at 75%) felt like I was drinking syrup ): - I think due to the sweetness I can barely taste the tea at all The worker was super nice and efficient! The store was small but super clean. Maybe will give it another try and see if their milk teas are better...

Yelp
I don't know if the owners changed or what but I'm pretty sure I paid extra for dairy-free milk last week. I got a taro slush with boba and I would not recommend it. It was grainy and not that flavorful compared to the regular taro with milk or non-dairy milk, ice, and boba. Stick with the regular taro drink. The black sugar milk with boba in my opinion is still their best drink. The black sesame drink is good too. I don't drink caffeine often, but I heard their milk tea is good. Not sure this place is my absolute fav in the city anymore as the boba texture has changed. They used to have the nicest, bounciest boba that was still cooked all the way through. Now it's just super soft like everywhere else. I always get iced or blended drinks, so if you wait a good 5-10 minutes then the boba will firm up. Back in the day, the boba was awesome immediately upon serving. There used to be more of a wait as they must have made boba in smaller batches. Our drinks were quickly served last week, but the dark dark "black" sugar flavor in the black sugar milk is not as apparent, and the boba is still good but not as great as it once was.

Yelp
Black Sugar was my go-to spot when I used to go to school in San Francisco! Got to try their mango sago and it was a 5/5! Not too sweet at all for 100% sugar which is perfect!
google avatar

Yelp
We tried Black Sugar recently and I thought it was not bad. We got roasted oolong milk tea with 25% sweetness and oat milk. The boba was very chewy and I thought it was nice. I think it tasted a tiny bit watery but it might be more due to the oat milk (I normally get whole milk but my spouse wanted oat milk). I guess next time I would try whole milk! There is virtually no seating in this store so plan on grabbing and going!
google avatar

Alyson W.

Yelp
I would dock a star for no parking, but that isn't Black Sugar's fault. This has been my absolute favourite boba stop in sf since high school, but insanely difficult to find parking nearby. My pro tip is to bring along someone else with you and make them run in while you look out vigilantly for a cop! Service is very quick and just a single counter inside--much easier to grab and go than attempt to sit at one of 3-4 bar seats. The tea itself is fragrant and fresh, the real strawberry and lychee make the whole difference, and the boba is always fresh and chewy. I'd be here literally every day if it was just a fraction easier to get there.

Luna M.

Yelp
Found this little hole in the wall just a couple feet down from Gong Cha. You order from a kiosk, so the entire experience is pretty hands off. There was only one person working in the store and he had muttered a quiet, "hello". The good thing is there's customizations available. We ordered strawberry Matcha lattes with 50% sweet and less ice with no toppings. The drink was actually pretty sweet so in hindsight, I would've reduced the sweetness even further. This was OK. Since there's not a lot of options in the area I may or may not go back but I think the Service could've been friendlier considering we were the only ones in the store.

Yelp
This is a small boba shop, or as they call themselves "boba bar" that's located next to the Mason O'Farrell Garage and across from the Hilton Union Square. It's definitely more of a to-go spot because there are only 2 stools inside. Limited human interaction since you order on the kiosk. I was debating between a couple fruit teas, but I ended up choosing the Pear Green Tea ($5.25 + 6% Healthy SF Mandate) at 0% Sweet and No Ice. I added boba for an extra $0.75. +Strong green tea flavor +Boba was perfectly chewy and tasted caramelized +Cup & straw were durable -Pear flavor was hard to detect, and it gave the drink a sandy texture. *Verdict: 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. I enjoyed the boba and tea, and wouldn't mind returning to try another drink if I was in the area.

Yelp
I stopped by again while I was in the area and decided to try the house fruit tea- passion fruit oolong tea with pineapple compote- 50% sweetness and less ice, and the mango matcha latte, 50% sweetness and less ice. The house fruit tea was very sweet and contained watermelon. Unfortunately, the environmentally friendly paper straw was too weak and broke on the fruit so we had to figure out how to eat the rest of it without utensils. As for the mango matcha latte, it was pretty good too but I wish it had been a large quantity. Both drinks came in paper cups. Unlike most boba places I've been to, they have opaque cups so you can only see the color of the drink if you take off the lid.

Yelp
I love boba and this is one of my favorite spots in SF! So much so that I will willingly walk through the Tenderloin to get over there. My favorite drink here (and the only one I've tried) is the Black Sugar Boba Milk Tea. It may seem obvious given the name of the store, but this drink is amazing! It's sweet, sugary deliciousness. I also thought the price was reasonable - this was one of my cheaper boba runs in SF (at $6.30) and it included the boba pearls. One thing to note is that this is more of a pick-up spot rather than a place to sit down and hang out. Though they have a small seating area (2 chairs and a counter), I got the vibe that most people order to-go. I hope to try more drinks off the menu soon - although realistically I will probably get the Black Sugar Milk Tea again because it's so yummy!

Yelp
Who knew matcha and mango would go well together? Black Sugar sure did! We had them cater a work conference for a lil snackie treat and it was the energy boost we all needed in the middle of our day. They had a lot of different flavors to choose from but of course I had to get a matcha. Deriving away from my usual, I got the mango matcha and was pleasantly surprised. I've heard of strawberry matcha before but mango matcha might be the combo I never knew I needed. The right amount of sweetness and had a great flavor profile. I'd love to visit their actual location the next time I'm in SF!

Yelp
first came here 6 years ago and really liked their black sugar boba, walked by and happy to see they're still here. pear green tea 75% is very good. guy making the drinks was very nice, interior is bright.

Yelp
Stopped by Black Sugar on the way back from lunch. It was delicious looking and highly rated on their Yelp page. It's a small shop where you order from a kiosk. My order of Black Sugar Milk Tea with Boba (classic) came out quick and was the perfect level of sweetness and ice. No notes. Not a great place to sit and hang out, so come here to grab your MT and go!

Yelp
Very solid boba spot in SF. Ordering here is straightforward through a kiosk machine. The worker was really nice and enthusiastic while making our drinks. There isn't really any seating in the store except two high chairs, but I'd assume most people would get this and walk around the city. I came here by foot after taking the Bart, but looking around, there isn't parking unless you are willing to pay to park in the garage it is next to. House Black Milk Tea (4.5/5): Pretty good black milk tea. There is a lot of tea flavor, which I like, and the drink was the perfect amount of creaminess. I would say I've had better tasting black milk teas, but this one isn't that far off from the rest. The texture of the boba was good as well. Jasmine Green Milk Tea (4/5): Just like with the other tea, the Jasmine Green Milk Tea was decent too. The jasmine tea does taste a bit too tea-y, which made the drink seem not as creamy. Otherwise, the drink itself was decent.

Yelp
The best bubble tea in SF. My favorite is their mango sago drink. I usually get it without boba because I find the sago is a great topping on its own! It's smaller, softer / less chewy than the honey boba. Definitely worth getting a drink with their boba sometimes as well, because they do a great job making chewy, smooth boba pearls. Service/ambiance are mostly not applicable since this is really a to go spot. There's 4 stools in a very tiny space near the counter for seating and that's it. Only downside is it's in a seedy part of town so my preference is to grab my drink and head up north east ish a bit to union square / chinatown!

Yelp
My Manga Matcha Latte came out looking like an artwork! The matcha was strong and flavorful; I wish there was more of it -- it only took up a quarter of the cup. The oat milk was oddly thick and creamy; I didn't mind it, but it also didn't taste much like oat milk and rather tasted more reminiscent of whole milk. The Mango was the star of the drink! Soo refreshing and made with real fruit! The boba texture was also scrumptious -- not mushy or soft with a good amount of bite. I'm glad I ordered 25% sweet because it was already tasting pretty sweet like how 50% would normally taste. With the add-ons of boba and oat milk, my drink came out to over $8 -- I probably won't get it again for a long time, but in the moment, it felt somewhat worth it for such a unique drink with fresh fruit and premium grade matcha. My friend who got the Hong Kong Milk Tea didn't particularly like it, and same with my other one who got the Hochicha Latte. They both ordered less sweet but thought their drinks were too sweet. From the reviews, it sounds like Black Sugar's strengths are their fruit drinks. I highly recommend checking them out for those! There was no wait at all on Saturday around 3pm, and our drinks were ready within about 5 minutes. No seating -- grab and go style.

Yelp
Tried the strawberry lychee tea with boba at 50% sweet and I was surprised how good it was! I usually don't go for a fruit tea as it can be too sweet but this was perfect. The strawberry tasted really fresh and the boba was really good! Perfectly chewy and bouncy with a subtle sweetness, the boba really made it special. Next time I'll probably opt for the milk tea to pair with the boba but this definitely makes me want to come back.

Yelp
This super cute boba joint is super small with clean lines and black and white decor. There is a counter with 2 bar stools but the place is obviously set up for take away. One polite employee on a Saturday morning holding down the fort at 12.30, soon after opening. The Black Sugar Tea Lattee and House Fruit Tea were expertly hand crafted and delicious - perfect refreshments for a Saturday morning!

Yelp
Mango, matcha, and oat milk all in one cup??! Not only was it absolutely delicious, but I loved the layered look through the cup. It really added to the presentation! This, among other colorful flavors, was delivered to our office during our conference. It was a delightful way to spend an afternoon break after having a few sessions. It was definitely sweeter than I would normally get, but hey, I'll have to try it my way the next time I'm in San Fran. It would be so nice if we had one of these in Maryland. Apparently the locals are already familiar with the spot, but if not... make sure you swing by for your boba fix!

Yelp
Strawberry lychee green tea - 4/5, refreshing with a good strawberry and lychee flavor. Can also taste the tea, which I love. Would definitely like to come back and try the other drinks

Yelp
Mango Matcha Boba with Oat Milk FTW. Black Sugar catered a boba afternoon break for a work conference and they did a phenomenal job. From my first interaction with Black Sugar - they were responsive, helpful, and on top of things. They were able to provide quotes quickly and they were great at answering any questions I had about the different boba options. The day of our boba break - Black Sugar arrived promptly and were proactive about making sure all of the boba drinks were set-up in a timely manner and that they all had the proper signage. The drinks were not only delicious but looked fantastic as well. I appreciated the simple and chic packaging of their boba drinks, which photographed beautifully. I also love how Black Sugar has options for any and all dietary needs and preferences. We were able to have an assortment of regular and oat milk based boba drinks, fruit based boba drinks, and we also had their Black Sugar Boba Fresh Milk - which was a great non-caffeinated option. The drinks were a big hit with attendees. There are a plethora of boba spots in the city - but if you're looking for a quality product - made with care - definitely check out Black Sugar. They not only deliver when it comes to their daily offerings - but they are also wonderful at executing big catering orders as well. And...remember Mango Matcha Boba with Oat Milk FTW. Trust.

Yelp
During a recent work trip to San Francisco my teammates and I were surprised with a special afternoon treat of Boba from Black Sugar. What a sweet treat! I really enjoy boba tea despite not having it on a regular basis. I don't traditionally love sweet drinks and love that most of the boba teas that I have tried, offer a good range of flavors that aren't overwhelming. Black Sugar definitely offer just that! There were a number of different flavor options laid out for us and I decided to go with the mango matcha boba and, WOW. It was a perfect pick-me-up without being crazy sweet and the boba was *chef's kiss*. Definitely a great boba option in the San Fran!

Yelp
I'm not going to pretend to be an expert when it comes to boba, but I have an informal way of judging it. If I notice it takes me a while to finish, it might be kinda meh. The quicker it goes down, the better and my matcha mango from Black Sugar was gone in a flash. We had these brought in for an afternoon pick-me-up during a work conference and they were really tasty. There were too many good options to choose from. I normally go with a milk tea, either taro or brown sugar, but the matcha mango one looked too good to pass up. It ended up being a great choice; a nice and sweet boost but somehow didn't veer into overly sweet. It was late enough in the day that I didn't really want any caffeine.. well let me rephrase, I always want a little caffeine, I just can't handle it later in the day. The energy I got from this one was perfect and balanced, and definitely low on the amp-up scale. Haven't been in the actual shop, but if you are looking for boba this seems like a really solid option to me.

Yelp
This boba tea was a nice afternoon pick me up. My team got to choose from several different options and I chose one that had matcha and some black boba beads at the bottom. Admittedly, I'm not really a matcha fan, but I wanted to try something different since people constantly rave about it. Overall, the flavor was VERY Earthy but I'm sure it was supposed to taste that way. I can't say I'm now a matcha fan, but the drink was super cute and I'd definitely try a different drink next time.
google avatar

Alexa D.

Yelp
This boba is truly next level! I had a brown sugar boba and it was one of the best drinks I have ever had- even more impressive than it was a non dairy and non caffeine option! Probably one of the best bobas I have ever had. Wonderful flavor and texture. I will definitely be back for another treat! I had this to go so didn't get a good feel for the service or ambiance, but I could tell that my drink was made with love and care! The containers are sturdy and very instagrammable and the drink is truly delicious.

Yelp
Been a fan of Black Sugar for quite a while and was sad when they closed down for a while. First time trying them again since they reopened. Had the opportunity of experience them as a catering. Pear green tea - a classic for me and a drink I always gravitate towards. Great pear taste without being overly sweet. Even as a cater delivery, the boba still had chew and toothsomeness to it. A perfectly balanced fruit green tea.

Yelp
Black Sugar provided my colleagues and myself with some delicious boba for a afternoon treat, and boy was it a treat! The team at Black Sugar did an amazing job providing us with so many teas varieties for our large group. There are a lot of us, and they provided an abundant of flavors clearly labeled so there was no confusion. Boba is something I always enjoy but don't treat myself to enough. I think Black Sugar has refueled my boba love! I went with the OG black sugar flavor -- it was so tasty and not overly sweet. Thank you Black Sugar for a delicious afternoon pick me up!
google avatar

Yelp
I was able to enjoy Black Sugar during a work event that they catered. Admittedly I wasn't sure how things with go with a large group and an even larger number of boba teas premade for us, but it was awesome! They had all of the flavors easily identifiable and grouped together so it was easy to snag the one you wanted. They had several flavors, including alternative milks for each, which was a nice touch for those staying away from lactose/dairy. When enjoying boba I'm a bit of a creature of habit and I'm typically reaching for the brown sugar (or in this case black sugar) milk tea or just the regular black milk tea. Had the black sugar tea here and it was excellent. A bit sweet at first sip but once mixing things up so the syrup on the bottom was easily distributed and we were good to go!

Yelp
The best boba spot in San Francisco. The quality of their drinks is unmatched, and I've tried plenty of places in the city. Everyone I've recommended this place to has loved it as much as I do! You really can't go wrong with anything you order here. My personal favorite is the black sesame matcha--the flavors are perfectly balanced, with neither the black sesame nor the matcha overpowering the other. The boba itself is consistently cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of chewiness and not too sweet on its own. Another standout for me is the strawberry lychee drink. It's a bit thicker than your usual fruit teas, and you can tell they mix the fruit puree right into the drink, which I love. Lately, though, my go-to has been the mango sago. The sago is a fantastic topping, especially for fruit teas--it's light and offers a different texture than the usual boba. My only complaint is the busy street outside, which makes it tricky to stop my car while I run in for a mobile order. But honestly, that minor inconvenience doesn't stop me from coming back for these amazing drinks!

Yelp
Delicious, fresh, tasty drinks !!! Service is quick and efficient. This is definitely my new go to spot anytime I'm in SF.

Yelp
If any of you know me, I'm a big boba fiend. I feel like that's the one treat that if anyone asks, I'm down for. Black Sugar looked interesting based on the different flavors so I decided to give it a try while I was up in the bay! A cute little tea shop, I had to try it out :) ITEMS WE TRIED: - Pear Green Tea: I really liked this one! This tasted like actually pear, like if they blended a pear and mixed it into the drink, but it wasn't smoothie consistency either. Honestly very good. I recommend this one! - Strawberry Lychee Green Tea: this one was also refreshing! I still think I liked the pear better but overall I think it just depends on your mood. Wasn't disappointed in this one. SERVICE: very fast! We went in and then got our drinks in no time. PARKING: can be challenging - it's located in the heart of SF, so street parking. We did a quick pick up and go so we just parked on the side and had someone watch the car. PRICE: reasonable about $5-6 per drink. Overall, I'd recommend this place to others when they're looking for a boba spot to try! Quick service, good flavors, and refreshing for a summer day.

Yelp
We did a pick up order from this place in the afternoon on a Sunday and they were busy! We waited an additional 5-10 minutes for our drinks when we got there, not horrible but it might be a good idea to do a pick up order if you can so you don't have to wait in line. It's a very tight shop, no seating area for folks to enjoy their drink so it's a good grab and go boba location. I thought the menu had a good variety of unique and classic drinks you'd see anywhere else but I wanted to try the matcha series and got the matcha sesame mt. It has a good amount of sesame in it and I liked it! If I ever come back, I'll want to try something else. The boba had great texture as well.
google avatar

Edna M.

Yelp
I got a lychee green tea with 0% sugar, boba, and tea jelly inside. I liked how you could still taste the flavor of the lychee with a decent tea taste. The boba and tea jelly gave it some sweetness which wasn't overpowering. You self order through the machine. The interior is very simplistic but is kind of small. There is at max two seats and a few people being able to stand inside.

Yelp
this is my favorite boba place of all time and i live in socal lol. i first tried this place when i went to school in the bay and for the longest time, they've been CLOSED for remodeling or something. so once i planned a trip back to the bay, i knew this was THE SPOT i had to go to for my boba fix. it's a pretty small boba place on a busy-ish street next to a parking garage but that's okay because i didn't come to sit around haha. so definitely not a study spot. they have an ordering kiosk that you can scroll through and make any adjustments you want, it's very self explanatory and they have a wide variety of drinks to choose from, including milk teas, matcha lattes, fruit teas, coffees, and slushies. they even had this watermelon green tea that i wanted to try but they unfortunately didn't have any (i guess it's a seasonal item) i decided on getting their strawberry lychee fruit tea with aloe vera at 50% ice and 0% sugar, while my bf got a roasted oolong milk tea with fresh milk, reg sweetness/ice, and boba. both drinks were so good! the strawberry lychee tea was a bit sweet for my liking, despite requesting 0% sugar, but you can definitely tell they use fresh fruit puree, which i like. their aloe vera was also really good here, with some of them being a bit crunchy/firm! my bf also thoroughly enjoyed his milk tea, saying how the roasted oolong flavor was very pronounced and it was neither too milky nor too tea-y. their boba is also perfect every time. would highly recommend both of these popular drinks!! anyways. i liked this place so much i came back again the next day lol. this time we got a pear fruit tea with aloe vera at 50% ice 0% sugar and thai tea with boba, reg sweetness/ice. this time my drink was PERFEFT. the tea flavor really shined more in this drink and the pear added a nice refreshing sweetness that balanced the tea well. i wish more places made pear tea! my bf's thai tea was already really good here, although it was a bit too sweet so i would recommend adjusting the sugar on this one. but it's very good thai tea and the boba was perfect again, so they make it really consistent here. overall 10/10 would come back when im in the area. i will continue to dream of this place until i can return.

Yelp
Boba in SF is pretty mid and there are very few places I would recommend someone, but Black Sugar is at the top of that list! This is a pretty tiny shop located in downtown on the edge of tenderloin with very limited seating, so I normally just grab and go. Everything I've tried here so far has been really good and flavorful! You can tell they use fresh fruit and quality ingredients, and the boba is always really nice and chewy. My only wish is that they were closer to where I lived!
google avatar

Yelp
Small shop where you order through a kiosk. Got the jasmine milk tea with boba. The milk tea had a good balance of the milk and the tea. I just wish the tea was a tad stronger. Other than that, it was perfectly sweet at 75% sugar. The boba was sweet and had a good chewy consistency. I wish the portion was bigger for the price ($6.50 for my drink).
google avatar

Bella C.

Yelp
The drinks are standard and I would come back if I were in the area. This place is mainly for to-go orders only. You order at a kiosk and don't interact with the employees. There's only 5 stools at the small bar so seating is very limited. Matcha Sesame Latte - 75% sweet was good, but you could even go down to 50% if you wanted. The black sesame flavor is really strong and I couldn't really taste the matcha. I don't think I would get this one again. Mango Matcha Latte - I got 50% sweet but it was still too sweet! I can't imagine how people are getting 100% sugar for this drink lol. I would order this again, but at 25% sweet. Their boba tasted hard and stale. Still better than Boba Guys though.
google avatar

Lilian Z.

Yelp
One of my favorite boba places, super out of the way but I almost always stop by here if I'm in the area. Only downside IMO is how they only have one size, and it's on the smaller side. However, the drinks that I've tried here are one of the best I've had. I do think their milk teas and matcha are better than their fruit teas. The boba balls are similar to those from boba guys, on the chewier side which I prefer. At nearly $6 a cup or more with the smaller size, the price is definitely on the steeper side but the drinks are always a hit!

Yelp
We had Black Sugar brought in to our office for a little afternoon treat! There was such a great selection of different boba teas to choose from and they all looked so good. Also appreciated how everything was labeled so it was easy to know which tea you were grabbing. The tea itself was so delicious - you can taste the freshness. It's sweet but not overbearing which is exactly how I love my boba!

Yelp
The shop is clean and service was quick. The drink was average, not very flavorful and the boba didn't taste fresh. It's a reasonable option if you're in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to try it.

Yelp
Solid boba with a variety of flavors! We had this delivered to our SF office during a work sumit. I got the Mango matcha latte which had a lot mango puree so that really shined through compared to the match. The brown sugar boba was another flavor component so a lot going on at once. The boba was soft as well. For my preference, I like 50% sweetness, but I'm pretty sure all were full level sweetness so I would definitely come to shop and try again!

Yelp
My company catered in Black Sugar at our work conference. I am not a huge boba fan, but opted to try one anyways! It was very good but very sweet so I only drank a little bit. I definitely see the appeal for boba - I am just not into sweet drinks like this typically!

Yelp
There is no shortage of bubble tea in the Bay, so competition is fierce! Black Sugar's novelty is their "fresh milk" selection, which, as far as I can tell, just means really light, airy milk. I tried their traditional "Black Sugar Fresh Milk" tea, and it was delicious. It has a maple-like flavor that complements the tea and the boba nicely. I liked that boba was included in the $5.50 price (most shops charge you +$1-$2 extra), though I would have appreciated the option for a larger size. They only offer a 16-oz. I also think the tea could have been a touch stronger. This is not a "go out of your way for it" place, but if you're in the area, definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
I had a boba craving the other day and decided to give Black Sugar boba a try! I think I've had boba enough times throughout my life that every time I go I try to get more unique flavors. When I saw black sesame on the menu, I knew I was getting it. I love black sesame desserts! The drink was so flavorful; loved that the black sesame flavor wasn't diluted at all. It was pretty thick, almost more like a milkshake. I got it at 50% sugar, which was perfect for enjoying without getting a sugar crash. I also loved that oat milk wasn't extra, and opted for that instead of regular milk. The boba pearls were also pretty solid; not the best I've had but a nice consistency and sweetness level. Would love to go back to try some of their other selections--I saw a pear green tea on the menu that intrigued me.

Yelp
Happy to see they're back! I remember getting a drink from them in 2021 before they closed for a bit. We ordered on the kiosk and our drinks came out quickly. There's 2 stools and a long table but it's pretty tight in the store so this is more of a grab and go spot. I got the Hong Kong Milk Tea 50% sweet with boba. It was delicious and pretty sweet so I would get it 25% sweet the next time. I tried my friend's Matcha Black Sesame which was less sweet at 50% compared to HK milk tea at 50% sweet. Great sesame flavor and not clumpy at all. The fruit teas were good from the last time I've had it! Wish they were open more days of the week though. No one seemed to be inside at 12pm Saturday but they were open when we checked back around 1pm.

Yelp
Looked better than it tasted. The black sesame matcha was ok and their matcha has a more bitter taste. I think I would have enjoyed it less if I got my usual 0% sweetness but I randomly decided to get 25% and it was still pretty sweet. The Hong Kong milk tea is ok. Definitely too sweet for 75% sweetness so I think getting drinks starting at 50% and working your way down depending on how you like it is the best way to go.

Yelp
Amazing quality. I got the mango matcha drink and it was so refreshing. The boba was cooked perfectly. Highly recommended.
