I'm not going to lie, I was definitely skeptical of this place upon reading the low rated reviews. But my friend wanted to try this place, so we did.
And am I really, really glad we did.
As everyone has pointed out here, the decor of this place is sick - I'm honestly not sure what the theme is, but I am digging it. It's such a lovely place, small yet spacious, and it's great how voices don't carry over to other tables.
I liked that the menu offered dishes that I'd never seen before in other Thai places, like Papaya salad and Crispy Duck salad. I didn't order these, but still, it was pretty cool to see unique dishes on the menu. I can't recall seeing a Thai restaurant serve duck...or maybe I just need to go to more?
The service was great - friend is allergic to peanuts, so the waitress was helpful in finding alternatives for us. They're also very accommodating when it comes to the spice in their dishes - if you don't want spicy, it's fine - the dishes are still delicious!
We ended up ordering:
- Pineapple fried rice ($9.95): I usually don't like pineapple fried rice - I love pineapple, and I love rice, I just don't love them together (yes, I'm weird). But oddly enough, this one was delicious and I couldn't help hog more than half the dish...
- Garlic Sauce Sautéed Vegetables ($10): straight up what it says and it was so good!
- Avocado Tilapia ($20): SO SO SO GOOD. The avocado was so fresh and if you love tilapia, you get a ton with this dish! I also don't like curry (I know, who am I and why am I eating Thai food), but this one was so light and so tasty! I kept adding the sauce to my rice... #guilty
- Seafood Noodle Soup ($13): I seriously cannot wait to order this again, but next time, keep this all to myself! Haha. It was so worth it - looks can be deceiving on this one, so it can be shared!
I seriously enjoyed my time here - it was so quiet and just a great experience overall. Giving 4 stars though because as someone here has pointed out, it is still a little pricey for Thai food in Queens.
