We went to on a Friday night at 830 pm. The place was packed (did not feel crowded though) and the vibe was nice right from when we entered. We ordered all vegetarian dishes and they were all so very tasteful. I would 100% recommend the Spinach Cannelloni. It was the showstopper of our dinner along with the garlic scapes. The bread that they give with bread and olive oil is large and very tasty. We also got the red and white wine carafes which very very good and a good deal for the price. I would make a reservation in advance

Google
Walked in on a Thursday night and got seated by the bar. Hip popular restaurant with good tasty food and attentive service. We ordered the chickpea hummus, spinach cannellon (SOOO good!) and diavola with added prosciutto ( excellent pizza btw), they are all on point! Highly recommend!

Google
A very popular place in town, I suggest to make reservation ahead. It was a little bit noisy but The vibe was good, we had ordered few dishes, the price was a little raised comparing their old menu, which I’m not so agreed but acceptable. all taste great and extraordinary, we were happy with the meal.

One of our favorite spots on Main to eat and enjoy the room. Always a good energy here and we love trying the new seasonal flavors. Pizza is always a win, but don’t sleep on the oddities on the menu you’ve Bear heard of but must trust your server about what is yummy.

Google
Definitely a place to get a reservation. The two of us were lucky to get a spot at the “kitchen bar” which over looks the folks making pizza. I enjoyed watching them working. The staff was all very nice and seemed to work together well. I loved the kale salad and the pizza… one of the best pizza I’ve had in a while! We finished it off with tiramisu 🙌 definitely recommend

Google
We're locals and went for our Anniversary tonight. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Service was timely and not rushed. We had the Blackbird bread and olives to start. We had the fungi pizza and the squash tortelloni for the main and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious. I only wish there were more tortelloni. Will be back!

Google
Downtown Bozeman place, which says a lot right there. We had a reservation and still had to wait, but, it's summer in Bozeman and to be expected. Service was polite but not exceptional. We were three middle aged women, and I've read that there is an assumption we don't tip well, so maybe that's why. The food, though, was amazing! Homemade pasta in many varieties, and all of us loved our choices.

Google
Delicious farm to table Italian inspired menu with a focus on Pastas and Pizza. Our group enjoyed the Buckwheat Gemelli, Spinach Cannelloni pastas and the Funghi and Fumata pizzas.

Yelp
Wow, cute little high end spot doing food right! Bubbly crust in a pizza, heaven! Quality high end ingredients and details are flawless. Sat at the bar, traveling for work and didn't have a reservation. Great service and friendly bar employees. I can't say enough about this business it is a gem!, nestled in a beautiful town with awesome people! Unforgettable food and quality. THANK YOU!

Yelp
Fantastic Meal with Great Atmosphere! We had dinner at Blackbird in Bozeman, and it was definitely worth the wait (about an hour without reservations). From start to finish, everything was spot-on. We started with the burrata, which was served with tomatoes, basil, balsamic vinegar, and warm crostini made in-house. The cheese was amazing, and the tomatoes were incredibly flavorful--quite the treat, especially this time of year. For our mains, we shared the funghi pizza and a bowl of tortelli pasta. The pizza, made in their wood-fired oven, had a crispy, flavorful crust that really stood out. The pasta, which was freshly made, was delicious--similar to ravioli, stuffed with spinach and pancetta, and served with a rich red sauce that packed a lot of flavor. We paired our meal with a bottle of Sangiovese from their solid wine list, which complemented everything perfectly. For dessert, we tried the chocolate budino, which was like a pudding-flan hybrid--not too sweet, but just right to finish off the meal. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Definitely a place we'd come back to next time we're in Bozeman!

Yelp
Went here on a Saturday in January for a bachelorette weekend special dinner. Because of the size of our group, we had to do a set menu. Which I'm so glad we did because WOW. 6 courses. It was family style, which was news to us. So we all got to taste everything! My favorite was probably the tortelloni. But the straciatella with the amazinggggg house made bread was divine too. I took a photo of the menu so that lists everything we had. It was so much food, we took a whole pizza back to our airbnb. Our server was so kind and helpful. She took our epi-pen level food allergies seriously, which was so reassuring. Lastly, we had to push back our reservation by an hour and a half due to getting stuck behind an accident earlier in the day that significantly delayed us. The staff were so flexible and understanding, which we appreciated. I'm a Bay Area girl and this place was something I would expect in San Francisco, in vibes, decor, music and food. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
If you come to bozeman ever come here! I ate here so frequently when I lived here I lost count. Now I eat here every time I visit! It's consistently delicious fare. Their pizzas are life changing, their menu seasonally relevant palates, their summer gelatos are what I imagine heaven to be made of, and their roasted vegetables can cure you of any burdens. Definitely get their kale salad. Can't go wrong with their exceptional array of pastas either. Their wine selections invariably pair impeccably with their foods. If you haven't eaten here yet you should feel despondent enough about it to create a journal entry. Allow me to begin the jot, "Dear Diary, I have made some tragic choices that have kept my feet away from bozeman's hiking trails and my tongue in gastronomic Siberia..."

Yelp
Yuppie and boujee, but lively. It's always crowded. I was quite disappointed with the red wines by the glass selection. There were only three and 2 out of 3 were bad (and $17). The appetizer beans were awesome. The pasta puttanesca was acceptable but the pasta had a weird texture, it was chewy. I've been to Blackbird three times now and I'm pretty sure I won't be going back unless it's for a beer and the beans. It's quite expensive for what you get.

Yelp
Food was good. Would recommend the salsiccia pizza 5/5. The roasted carrot are 5/5. The meatballs were a little pricy for 4 pieces that were mediocre.

Yelp
Amazing food. Went there over the summer and had a fantastic meal. Ordered a lamb ragu pasta that was mid but the Pizza and bison steak was top notch excellent. Service was good. My only critique is that the lighting on one side of the restaurant is very dim at night. So dim that I had to use the light from the street light through the window to see the menu. Luckily another table opned up that we were able to move to before our food came out.

Yelp
Love this place! Kale salad is awesome and there are a lot of vegetarian options available for people who aren't meat oriented. And their bread is sublime.
google avatar

Tyler L.

Yelp
Limited menu but the dishes do not miss. Personally I love the meatballs and so many pork noodle dishes. The desserts are also so tasty and the budino...chefs kiss. Great wine selection as well if you drink with dinner.

Yelp
Wow! This has been a repeat date night. The food is fantastic, wine never disappoints, the service is great.

Yelp
Came into town for a day after a week at Yellowstone and decided to give Blackbird a try. We arrived just before 5 o'clock and things were starting to fill up. We were able to get a seat as long as we were gone by 6:30 for a reservation that was coming - we were promptly seated in the main dining room and purchased a carafe of House wine.(23.00 and it was tasty.. they did offer wine by the glass but this was a better deal) it's not a large space, but does fit several two tops, and a few large tables. The space is very well appointed We tried the Barada and a pizza. Both were absolutely delicious. The bread and crust of the pizza cooked in a Woodfire oven makes a huge difference. The crust of the pizza was thin, airy and tasty. They were not real overly generous with the sausage, but it was enough to give you flavor. The sauce and sausage were spicy. I loved the intimate feel of this restaurant. It was packed when we left by 6 PM. When In Bozeman- add this to the love list

Yelp
Best mushroom pizza we have ever had! We came here on a Wednesday night and it was busy busy! They were nice enough to get us in and it is a great spot with interesting art work and a mix of bar, community tables, high tops, regular tables... a little of everything. The mixed olives were fresh and flavorful and a good portion. The menu selection was interesting and there was so many things we wanted to try but we wanted simple and straight forward after a long day of travel so stuck with pizza and were very happy we did. I will say if you are coming from somewhere else, these prices were pretty high, I thought Phoenix was expensive, this was a whole different level of expensive but it was so good I would still go back and everywhere we ate in the area was much higher than we are used to. The cider was the only thing we would not pay that price again for. Their cider prices are insane.

Yelp
We must've had some good karma because my roommate and I walked into Blackbird at 6:30 on a Sunday and immediately scored a spot alongside the kitchen watching the pizzas being made. To out-of-towners, this is Very Unusual. Expect a wait. I think Blackbird excels most at curating ambiance. It feels nice and sophisticated while maintaining a laidback Montana feel. Our services were nice and attentive, no complaints. Being able to see the pizza oven and the inner workings of the kitchen made me feel like an extra on a tv show about a busy restaurant's back kitchen (if that kitchen was incredibly organized and calm). The pizza was good, the Fennel Sausage Pizza had a bit of a kick (which was appreciated). I second earlier recommendations to order the carafe of wine--literally a steal for that price (and more than enough for two people).

Yelp
Went with a large group and we all loved the food. Limited number of entrees but plenty of appetizers and pizzas. Quality of everything was excellent and service efficient and friendly.

Yelp
We went to Blackbird kitchen for dinner as a party of 6 & everything was great! It took a minute to get service, but once we did all of the food was amazing! We did a bottle of blanc de blanc & a bottle of Pinot gris which were both incredible. We started with the Burrata & beets, pizza, meatballs and the kale salad. Everything was absolutely delicious - nothing I would change! The ambiance is great. It's an open kitchen environment and is very spacious, but has a cozy energy to it. I'd highly recommend it!

Yelp
Killer restaurant with cuisine that rivals culinary meccas like Los Angeles and New York. No joke, my partner and I both commented on how this place would make a killing in LA. Not only is the food spectacularly delicious but the vibe is contagiously energetic. Staff are attentive and very knowledgable on the wines and beers being served in house. We came in with pretty big appetites which means we were opportunists and ordered an insane amount of items. Our favorites were: 1. Short rib meatballs 2. Vignarola salad 3. Tagliatelle (lamb + beef rage) 4. Mostarda Pizza 5. House pickled vegetables
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
Stopped here in our first night into Bozeman and it ruined all our other restaurants for the rest of the trip as it was so good. The Mostarda pizza is delicious, the burrata appetizer was amazing, and the cheesecake was amazing as well. Super friendly service and cozy atmosphere. Not a cheap dinner but totally worth the splurge.

Yelp
A top restaurant in Bozeman. I didn't love it at first thinking it was an Italian restaurant so for some reason I always ordered pizza; it's not bad it just gets old after a while. My friend was like "dude order anything else but pizza" lol and I realized it was a me error not a restaurant problem. Great location, great ambiance, great food and wine.
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
Definitely the best meal in Montana in our two week national parks trip. Food is just well balanced and flavored. No fault to be found in the cookery and all the dishes had interesting, delicious flavors. We had the burrata to start which was yummy and came with flavored cherry tomatoes and toasted bread. We wish we hadn't ordered the regular bread which was the same and not toasted or pre drizzled in olive oil. The wine carafe was decent and a good deal at $23 to share between two. The broccolini was a surprise hit of the night, well flavored, generous, and crunchy with bread crumbs. The agnoloti and ricotta was sweet and salty and were enthused with the chanterelle mushrooms, so delicious. The bison steak was also great - well cooked and with a sweet corn polenta and delicious sweet peppers. We love when a place highlights a humble vegetable and this place did it oh so well!

Yelp
came on a Friday night and the host aman, helped us make same day reservations--even though the place seemed busy. We ran late for our original reservation and they allowed us to still be seated promptly. Rachel our server, was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. She took the time out to explain the menu to us and everything she recommended to try was spot on. We got the meatballs for the appetizer, kale salad, radiatori beef & pork ragu pasta, and the braised lamb leg. Then we also got the toffee pudding with vanilla gelato (seasonal only) which the restaurant was kind enough to give to us on the house. The ambiance was just perfect and the staff were all very kind and provided us with great service. Overall, these recommendations were honestly delicious and we came from out of state and this is the most authentic Italian food we have tried. Highly recommend if you're ever in Bozeman.

Peter R.

Yelp
Priced to high.noisy only thing good is bread trendy service ok ambiance they think is cool

R W.

Yelp
Great for family gathering and date night. Food is good. Beef & Pork ragu was delicious. Pizza is wood-fired--kiddos ate it up. Puttanesca is more on the spicy side but still good. I wish they had specials. Service is hit or miss. Still a great place to dine.

Julia A.

Yelp
The ambiance was by far the best thing in this restaurant! The food was delicious and closer to the upscale side. Would recommend to go here for a special occasion.

Yelp
Great wine! Great food and great service! The sticky pudding and house made ice cream were to die for

Yelp
Food: Oh My Gosh, the food here is absolutely amazing. We tried Bison which was incredible. The lamb was delicious and the mushroom pizza with added fennel sausage was so good. For starters we tried the bread with olive oil and definitely a must. Short rib meatballs were fantastic. Service: for the most part is wonderful, however, paying attention to empty drinks is something they need to improve on. Ambiance: Casual but very nice, comfortable and inviting. Definitely a must to try (and re-retry) and the line of people to get in proves this place is a must. Overall amazing.

Yelp
OMG... this place was great. RESERVATIONS recommended. They do walk ins but best to have a reservation. This place was packed even at 8:15pm for our reservation. You walk in and see the pizza oven and kitchen in the middle of the long room. Minimal decor, Great food. There were 3 of us. We each picked an appetizer and then an extra one. We were so full by the time our entree came we took most of it home. When I say the meatball... GET THE MEATBALLS!!! Also I really loved their house made burrata cheese. My pizza was great, I had so much leftover from dinner I eat it the next day (cold) for breakfast and lunch and it was still great. Love the thin (almost paper thin) crust. Their homemade crust and bread is fantastic.

Paula H.

Yelp
Loved this place. We were able to sit at the bar with no reservations. We each had a different pizza and they were all amazing. Would highly recommend. Atmosphere was great too.

Yelp
Located on Main Street, this Italian eatery is next level fancy! The music and decor were fun yet sophisticated, the service was excellent and timely, and their attention to detail was on point! The pizzas have a chewiness that's rich with umami, which complemented the fresh lemon tortelli. I highly recommend coming here if you're in Bozeman!
google avatar

Pete G.

Yelp
This is an upscale restaurant with unique ingredients and flavors. The establishment makes the effort to offer uncommon ingredients in familiar foods, and this provides for an enjoyable experience. You could spend a lot here, but there are more reasonable options and many can be shared by two. We shared the Burrata app, which was outstanding, a carafe of the house red Grenache and a Santo pizza. Delicious all around.

Yelp
We had a long drive back to Bozeman. We were tired from days of hiking and tired of eating turkey sandwiches and hamburgers. We were walking around Main Street when Blackbird caught our eye - we were back in civilization. We didn't have reservations but were early and were seated immediately. We skimmed the menu and had a couple of questions about it. Honest to goodness, talking to our server was like talking to a wall. Her answer to everything was "it depends on what you want". I didn't know what I wanted - that's why I asked. Her demeanor never did improve the rest of our meal - maybe she was just having a bad day. Let's just give her the benefit of a doubt. We ordered the sautéed mushrooms and the Speck pizza. The large bowl of mixed mushrooms were delicious although a piece or two of bread would have really taken it up a notch. Our pizza, on the other hand, had potential but was served burned. Almost the entire crust was black. Charred black. I would never have served a pizza like this to guests. The middle of the pizza was good but the prosciutto wasn't distributed well - some slices had a lot, some none at all. The whole thing was an expensive disappointment. We'll be back home late tonight. Maybe tomorrow we can start eating civilized again. You can be assured it won't be turkey!

Robin W.

Yelp
Loved this place! Great atmosphere, service, loved our dinner, can't wait to come back. Ordered the frisée/radicchio salad, ragu pasta and the mushroom/sausage pizza. All amazing. Could not get over how light the pizza crust was and loved the char on it. Made my husband bring me here and now he is raving about it.
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Oh my! What a great place. Love the open kitchen. It is rather loud in there but so worth it. Our waiter was funny and friendly. The food was amazing. Each pasta dish was perfect. The standout was the ragu. The risotto was delist lemony. The pizza was perfectly fired. The bison ribeye melted in your mouth. Soooo good even if it was pricey. The chocolate budino was outrageous, we got three. Even the mint chocolate chip ice cream sandwich was fabulous. What a meal!

Yvette A.

Yelp
I highly recommend Blackbird to anyone coming to Bozeman, the food is always insanely good. Delicious wood fired pizzas never disappoint and service is friendly.
google avatar

Randy T.

Yelp
One of our fav spots to eat out in Bozeman for sure. Kale salad is a must! Try as many menu items as you can.
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
This place was amazing. Super welcoming delicious food. I had the pasta with sorrel and tiramisu. The staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was fantastic would definitely come back again!

Sheldon H.

Yelp
What a delight. We were served immediately. The restaurant was crowded on a Sunday evening and the noise level was moderate. Our server was friendly and made perfect recommendations. I had the beef & pork ragu and she had the braised lamb with basmati rice(off the charts).
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, pizza was fantastic. Place can get pretty busy. Had to wait for about 10-15 mins but they got us in pretty quck.
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
Amazing food! My fiancé and I were told that this is the best restaurant in town, so we just HAD to get in while we were passing through Montana. Despite the poor weather, the restaurant was packed. The hostess put us on their waitlist and they called us in earlier than we expected. The service was fast and friendly. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and the ingredients. 5 stars!
google avatar

Linda D.

Yelp
I don't know what you call it but we had this pasta appetizer that was to die for! Stuffed with cheese and served in this lemon butter pine nut sauce...oh man! Then the pizzas were amazing, as good as the ones we had in Florence! Great place for a date night!

Shelley M.

Yelp
The service was very good with friendly wait staff. We ordered the little gem salad for $17. It had 1 cucumber and 1 radish along with the lettuce. It was overdressed. We ordered the burrata with rhubarb compote and pistachio's . It had 1 whole pistachio and that was it. The bread served with this dish was very good. The pizza crust was mostly burned. We won't be returning to this restaurant.
google avatar

Terrill E.

Yelp
Im vegan friendly and their website said vegan options and the option were pickles, olives, salad, and potatoes. It was a nice looking restaurant and ambiance was great.

Sylvia G.

Yelp
Good service good food . Always a good time here . Special occasion or everyday dining . Always bring my guests here .

Yelp
After a return trip to Blackbird for a second night, I am afraid that I will have to retract my original review. I had a great experience the night before, but after an agonizingly long wait for a Bison Strip Steak, it arrived and was tough as leather. I brought this to the attention of the server and after a few minutes she returned, stating that the kitchen said that they don't have any complaints about the meat and that it is "grass fed beef" and asked me if I would like a box (obviously not going to remove the item from the bill) Grass fed beef??? Lol. A "kitchen" too arrogant to admit that their dish was not up to par??? My suggestion - stick with pasta & pizza, because you sure don't know sh*t about meat! Actually, the fact that they referred to the bison as grass fed beef, about sums it up... I spoke with the manager & suggested she have her kitchen staff attempt to cut and check the shoe sole textured meat & her response - "ok" WOW. Clearly the restaurant is popular & quite busy, so my review won't hurt their overall rating, but just needed to share my experience. What a joke!
google avatar

Rach S.

Yelp
Loved this restaurant! Everything we ordered was great. I made a reservation for here and tried to go again but they were not open for lunch. The meatball appetizer is a must! I think the main entree sizes could have been larger. There was also live music which added to the ambience. We were seated near the kitchen which was just ok. The restaurant was a bit dark with grey interiors.
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
Hands down the best Italian in the valley. For antipasti we had the burrata and short rib meatballs, both were amazing and portion sizes didn't leave you wanting more like some nicer places will. We had a broccolini for our verdure instead of the salad and the prep on that was amazing, hope they get it back on the menu soon. I had the Santo (fennel sausage w/ red sauce) pizza and wife went with a asparagus (I think, all I remember was that it was bright green) risotto that she loved as well. My pizza was fine but I think I'd go with a pasta or the rack of lamb next time and save my pizza-ing for Campania and Sidewall. Service was friendly and prompt, not much more we could have asked for in a date night.

Lynda A.

Yelp
We went in without a reservation at 5.3 on a monday in september. No tables for 2 were available..all reserved. We accepted to dit at the bar overlooking the pizza oven. Great choice! Active kitchen area! Good Italian wine. Yummy sausage pizza! Delicious pasta w beef and pork. Would go back again!

Yelp
I have 3 words for you... Wood. Fired. Oven. *drool* Mouthwatering flavors in every dish. I love sitting at the bar overlooking the kitchen and watching the magic happen. This talented team serves up deliciousness dish after dish. The pizzas are absolutely incredible, the meatballs and fresh bread in marinara is *chef's kiss* and the drinks are delicious. Make sure Blackbird is on your list when dining in Bozeman.

Yelp
I loved this restaurant - one of my favorites during my whole two week road trip through Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. Food was phenomenal, service far exceeded what I expected given the overall pandemic-related staff shortages. Was the service perfect? No, but damn close to it. I was a single who promptly seated at the bar as a walk in. Struck up a wonderful conversation with another single next to me (and parted with a new friendship). Main takeaways: - you can sit either at the bar or the chefs counter. I preferred the bar, but either is fine. - definitely get one of their pizzas. They are personal size and absolutely delicious with robust flavor and an irresistible crust, as good as anything I've found in Italy. - if you're thinking wine by the glass, get the house carafe wine. It pays for itself after your second glass, and for a table wine was quite good and well matched for pizza. - if you want a table, reservations are a MUST. The place was jam packed on a Monday night post Labor Day. In the words of the Terminator, "I'll Be Back"
