Blackbird

Location, location, location, that's about it. Blackbird is in a prime location for commuters with the train right across the street. It is also located right above the Roost, a food hall with decent options. The Blackbird has fees for everything, even for paying rent. The apartments are small and you can smell odors from other apartments. The halls and building windows aren't kept very tidy leaving much to be desired about the appearance. There has been a gross stain on the stairwells exit door since I moved in. The people are cool. Mostly friendly and to themselves. No wow factor here. Just an expensive convenience...

I recently toured the Blackbird Apartments as I’m considering a move to DC, and I was thoroughly impressed. Angel and Bertha were absolutely amazing! Of all the communities I visited, they provided the best service and made me feel incredibly welcomed. Although I still have some time before my current lease is up, when the time comes, I’m seriously looking at making Blackbird Apartments my new home. I highly recommend anyone searching for an apartment to check this place out!

I toured Blackbird Apartments last week and was thoroughly impressed by Bertha! Her responsiveness and ability to answer all my questions made the experience exceptional. While Blackbird is comparable to other communities I visited—some of which were slightly more luxurious—I would choose Blackbird for the outstanding service alone. The location is fantastic, right across from the metro, and the food options on the first floor are a great bonus. I'm not sure if I am fully relocating to D.C. or L.A., but if my job takes me to D.C., I will definitely be leasing at Blackbird. Thanks, Bertha, for making my visit so memorable! - Debbie

I’ve been living at Blackbird for a year now and just signed my renewal, excited to spend another year in my apartment and this amazing community. The management team here is incredibly friendly, kind, and always goes above and beyond. Angel and Bertha made my transition from Miami to DC seamless and filled with care. The Roost is a fantastic amenity with great dining options, and the coffee shop has quickly become one of my favorites. I highly recommend anyone looking to rent to check out Blackbird!

Blackbird has been a great apartment building to live in. It's my first experience in a larger building like this but it genuinely feels like a community. Building management is so responsive and kind - Angel and Bertha are truly lovely and now feel more like friends than building management. When things break or need to be addressed, they're always on top of it. They're extremely considerate and great problem solvers. I'd highly recommend this building to others.

I’ve lived at Blackbird with my partner for 4 years, and it has been an incredible experience. Angel and Bertha have always been attentive and provide a management team you can truly rely on. They also throw the best resident events, from live entertainment and big-screen movie nights by the pool to happy hours at The Roost—definitely going to miss that. As I’m moving abroad to France, I will miss both my apartment and the fantastic management team dearly. I highly recommend Blackbird to anyone looking for an apartment in DC!

The best apartment building I have lived in Washington, DC by far! The size is perfect, the entire staff from management to concierge and custodial, are all super friendly and helpful, the residents I've encountered have been courteous, considerate, and respectful, and you cannot beat the location. Really appreciative of finding this community. **Updated** I've been living at Blackbird for about 8 months now and couldn't be happier with my decision to move here. It's the perfect-sized apartment complex with great amenities and a convenient location - shopping, restaurants, public transit, are all right at your fingertips in this capital hill/eastern market neighborhood. The Blackbird team are all very welcoming and attentive - quickly responding to inquiries, maintenance requests, and are friendly staples to the community. Angel has done a brilliant job engaging with residents, listening to feedback, and creating fun and exciting events like live music on the rooftop, wine/beer tastings, free meals from The Roost (located just below us), Salsa dance lessons, among a host of other things. I would highly recommend moving here particularly if you are a young professional or creative person looking for a unique, smaller apartment community, that has a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

I lived here for about 6 months. I ended up relocating for a job, but I loved living here. Probably the best management i've experienced in an apartment complex. Bertha, the property manager is so kind and very helpful and attentive to your needs. Maintenance is quick to fix any work orders you submit Just for transparency for any out of towners, unless you pay for parking garage, you'll have to street park..and while this can sound stressful, it was actually not bad at all. Circle the block, learn your community and parking will be a breeze. Gym is small but nice I was not impressed at all about the pool but it is clean. And the rooftop lounge was very nice
