The 38 Best Restaurants in Toronto, Canada

"Open for: Lunch and dinner Price range: $$$ Housed inside the former Toronto Stock Exchange building, this splashy steakhouse is unabashedly over-the-top with its soaring library wall of spirits, multi-million dollar meat locker (including Japanese A5 wagyu), and cushy banquette dining. Egyptian restaurateur Emad Yacoub, who runs a meticulous roster of venues in Vancouver and Toronto, has come a long way since earning $4 per hour when he first landed in Canada. He spared no expense at Black & Blue, spending millions on the space and bringing on chef Morgan Bellis to offer showy, table-side Caesar salads, hand-cut beef Wellington, eyebrow-singeing flambees, and splashy seafood towers.  Best for: Steakhouses can be expensive, but Black and Blue’s weekday lunch prix fixe (main course with either an appetizer or a dessert) goes for just $48 Canadian." - Tiffany Leigh

Absolutely outstanding experience at Black + Blue! The Wellington steak was hands down one of the best we’ve ever had — perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with rich, savory flavor. You can tell it was made with care and precision. The presentation was beautiful, and every bite was pure satisfaction. Huge shoutout to Trevor, our server, who made the evening even more enjoyable. He was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a great time. His recommendations were spot-on, and his professionalism and warm energy really stood out. Can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a top-tier dining experience in both food and service.

Google
Absolutely magnificent. While the Auatralwagyu and our entire meal was cooked and plated to perfection, our Server Kal transformed this dinner into an outstanding and unforgettable experience with his attentiveness and storytelling. Honestly, this was one of the best meals I have had by far. If I could rate this steakhouse higher, I would. Every hospitality establishment needs a gem like Kal to create these beautiful dining and guest experiences!

Google
Absolutely fantastic experience at Black+Blue! Kal was amazing, super friendly, attentive, and made us feel really welcome from the moment we arrived. The Chateaubriand was cooked to perfection, incredibly tender and full of flavour. And the Butter Cake for dessert? Unreal. One of the best I've ever had. Great food, warm service, and a beautiful atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

Google
I had an amazing experience at Black+Blue Toronto! The food and service were both excellent from start to finish. The Beef Wellington was perfectly cooked with a beautifully crisp pastry and tender beef inside. The staff were very attentive and made the evening feel extra special. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a great steakhouse experience in Toronto. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Dawn was such a sweetheart not just a great listener, but overall an amazing person who truly made our night special. Her service was outstanding polite, attentive, and thoughtful in every detail. Thank you, Dawn, for going above and beyond. The food was also super tasty, and a big shoutout to the chefs and cooks behind the scenes who made this wonderful experience possible. We’ll definitely be coming back again for more!

Summerlicious lunch ($48). Portion size was very generous and was big enough to be dinner. Service was fantastic! Black part- Carpaccio, strip loin were really good. Especially Carpacio with fried capers, olives & shimeji mushroom worked all well together. I also liked the edge of carpacio being charred. Enjoyed very decent size of strip loin with chimichuri. My dessert, butter cake was also devine. However their seafood( Blue part) was just okayish such as King salmon roll & Bouillabaisse. Again portion size was bouillabaisse was huge. They served two big pieces of halibut & salmon. Overall it was a good experience. I loved sitting upstairs to look down their meat display and imagine what was it like before when this restaurant was TSX.

Went with clients for after work steak dinner. Decor and design are quite nice, but something about the vibe that made it into a 4 instead of a 5 star experience. Service was efficient but needs to be warmer. We ordered the tomahawk, which was good but not outstanding. Lobster bisque soup was my favorite dish on the menu. Their patio looks quite nice for the summer months and the bar area is quite chic. I'd definitely come back for lunch sometime and check out the lunch scene.

Google
This restaurant is absolutely top-notch! The space is modern and stylish, creating an atmosphere that feels both vibrant and welcoming. The food was impeccable—every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The service (Trevor) matched the quality of the meal: attentive, professional, and warm without ever being intrusive. From start to finish, it was a fantastic experience. We’ll definitely be going back again!

Yelp
Big fan of black and blue and have been here a number pf times now. Whether it's during their lunch, dinner, happy hour, or winterlicious, service is friendly and excellent without being cloying. Food is consistently delicious. My partner loves the steak frites. Their salads are fresh and a decent portion for a full meal. Their sushi really is quite good considering this is not a Japanese restaurant, and sushi is one of my favourote foods. Their butter cake is one of mu all time favourite restaurant desserts. Super consistent, nice environment for any occasion from a business lunch or a special dinner.

Yelp
It was a last minute Winterlicious dinner on a Friday and we were glad we got a table at the outside patio. We ordered the following appetizers: bluefin spicy tuna roll - 4/5 quite fresh and delicious crispy duck salad - 3/5 more like coleslaw Main: Beef tenderloin Oscar - 4/5 nothing special Desserts: Butter cake Chocolate mousse The service was spotty and understaffed perhaps during Winterlicious. Our waitress disappeared after our drinks came and two managers came to help out. The ambiance in the heated patio was nice and roomy. However the entrance to this seemingly Bay Street vibe restaurant opens right into a large square bar with tables quite crammed on the first floor. The second floor also has a table right in front of the washrooms while others overlook the first floor. The menu gives me an impression of an upscale Keg and I wouldn't mind visiting again.

Yelp
I went here for Valentine's Day with my wife. It's a beautiful restaurant, but I'm not sure I'd come back again. The service was fast and attentive, but the music was a bit loud for me. I prefer a quieter meal. The food was okay, but nothing special to justify the price tag. As for the food, the brioche bread looks amazing, but the taste does not quite match up. We found it to be stale. I wonder if they bake it a second time to melt the cheese, which dries it out. The sun dried tomato butter tastes interesting and complex, but wouldn't be my first choice for butter flavour. The lobster in my wife's gnocchi was overcooked. Huge disappointment considering the dish costs $69. The fries were not crispy enough. I did love the truffle aioli they came with though. I got the wagyu steak, which was absolutely delicious. Nicely seared and perfect medium rare. The Brussels sprouts were a standout. Perfectly cooked and nice balance of heat and acidity. The zeppole were forgettable. The buttercake was really good, but extremely rich. My favourite dessert was the mango rice pudding soufflé. What a creative dessert to combine rice pudding and soufflé. The mango really balanced out the richness. This dessert takes 30 minutes to make and often sells out, so I suggest ordering it in advance. Overall, some good and some bad. I'll lean on the generous side with 4 stars, but for such an expensive meal, I'd like more of the dishes to be hits in order for me to visit a second time.

Yelp
Surprisingly just-ok given the hype and reputation. Sure, I visited during winterlicious so maybe they didn't have their A game on. But still. Anyway, ordered the winterlicious menu and added a couple of things. We got: - Appetizers: The butternut squash was thick and creamy. The French onion soup was generously cheesy though a bit too salty. The bluefin tuna roll was fancily plated though pretty standard in taste and freshness. And the brussel sprouts were nicely crisped though I would have wanted a bit more of the parmesan. - Mains: The beef tenderloin was nothing exceptional tastewise. The roasted chicken was tender and glistening though a bit too fatty. - Desserts: The chocolate mousse was rich and had a nice side icecream. The signature buttercake was a tad dry. This place is an absolute vibe, with the beautiful interiors, modern look, and energy of the crowd. Service is polite and efficient. Prices are on the higher end but expected and not ridiculous. I can see why people come here to see and be seen. Just a personal preference I guess on why I just found it ok.

Yelp
A truly phenomenal experience! My husband and I came here to enjoy their wagu steak, and we could not have had a better time. Our waitress was so friendly and responsive; a true gem that is hard to find! The food was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and decadent. The restaurant itself is so incredibly beautiful and well appointed. The cocktails were a perfect complement to the meal, and the cake at the end was a wonderful end. I am not a meat lover, but their steak and beef carpaccio were absolutely phenomenal! The restaurant comes from Vancouver, and was recommended to us. I can see why. We came on a Sunday night, and the restaurant was packed, for good reason! When patrons foresake the Super Bowl to come eat in a restaurant, you know that the food is that good!

Yelp
Venue 5/5 Easy access venue by car and by foot. Plenty of parking in the underground of the financial district. Enter the restaurant via York and King intersection. It's beside the national bank in the lobby of the exchange tower. Lovely high ceilings inside with a beautiful bar a reflecting the black and gold aesthetic inside. The first floor has more booths that are more intimate as well for larger groups. The second floor has two private rooms as well as date style tables along the glass balcony overlooking the first. Service 3.5/5 Server was quite busy and the attention between the few tables they were assigned to varied. Hopefully not the case next time. The assistant servers were very informative and knowledgable of the food they were bringing out on the table. Food 4/5 Very extensive wine and cocktail list which makes this an amazing post work dinner spot. They also have happy hour for drinks and bites that appeal to a wider audience. Their Wagy was very juicy. We had the Wagyu tasting menu and it included a few of the traditional sides along with their preset appetizers. The Wagyu beef carpaccio had a bit too much sauce in my opinion, but the cheese complemented the beef. The Wagyu strip loin just melted in my mouth. It was amazing. I'm a pretty big eater, and I was surprised that this tasting menu despite only having 8 ounces for the entrée was able to fill me up with the starters and sides. There were a few tables around me with table side service for starters, entrées, and desserts. Looking forward to coming back here to try their beef Wellington.

Yelp
Checked out the Happy Hour at Black+Blue today (daily 2:30-5:30 pm). Fantastic selections of food, and cocktails plus house wine and Prosecco. Service was attentive without hovering. Wonderful ambiance (comfortable seating). Tried the following: - oysters - calamari - phyllo shrimp - mini lobster rolls - mini yorkshires with roast beef We splurged and ended with crepes Suzette (although not true Suzette Ie not orange rind). It was quite good though - came with strawberries and balsamic ice cream. We had the Prosecco and Lavender Fizz cocktails. Delish!!! Restaurant is located on the NE corner or York and King in First Canadian Place. Entrance is on the south side of the building. Parking is underground or easy access via TTC (St Andrew station)

Yelp
Riddle: What is black and Blue? A bruised right eye? No! Of course a high end restaurant in downtown Toronto you silly. The annual Winterlicious eater-thon brought me to Black and Blue. Ultimately, the meal was solid and I got great value due to Winterlicious. But would I come back paying regular menu price? I'd say probably not. The prix fixe meal started off with a beef carpaccio. The general combination of ingredients were ok, but the shaved cheese overwhelmed the whole dish. It was also supposed to come with a horseradish creama, but I didn't taste much horseradish. I'm not a big horseradish guy so maybe that was for the better. Four pieces of crunchy mini toast was served with the carpaccio. There was nothing special about those toasts. When the server took my order, she made the critical mistake of not asking me how I want the steak to be done. I only came to my senses when the steak arrived. Fortunately, they made a medium rare steak, but the steak itself was not cooked evenly. There were parts that was more well done than other parts, yet there were parts that was in fact medium rare. The striploin was solid, but no part of it really 'wowed' me. The bordelaise sauce felt underwhelming. I didn't taste much red wine and the sauce needs to be thicker. Not enough bone marrow? Maybe this is the New Orleans one? The grande finale was the butter cake that the server highly recommended. I'm more of a chocolate guy, but I'm open to the recommendation. The cake is small, but yet heavy. I like the cream, I like the light milky (apparently it was supposed to be chantilly sauce but I did not taste any hot pepper) sauce around it, but I'm not a fan of the cake. It's just too heavy. More fruits would have lightened its load. The texture is also problematic with part of the inside too moist and the top too hard and chewy. The interior of the restaurant is nice and has a strong Bay St vibe. You really feel like a fanancier having a fancy lunch on company's dime at this place. The service is generally competent. Other than that, it's just an ok place.

Yelp
Came here to enjoy their Winterlicious menu on a weekday night and managed to get patio reservations a couple of days in advance. The patio is completely enclosed, cozy, and well-heated. I barely felt any draft, even in the middle of winter! We originally wanted weekend reservations but realized it's even harder to get seats then. Since my meeting wrapped up a bit earlier, I was able to stop by with my husband to catch the end of happy hour (ends at 5:30pm) specials on a Thursday night before our reservation with my friends. We kicked things off with a round of cocktails, red wine, oysters, and a shared a lobster roll. I think because we ordered from the happy hour menu, the server didn't realize we were planning to stay for dinner (our original plan) and missed taking our order once our full party arrived. But honestly, we were having such a great time catching up with friends that we hardly noticed we hadn't put in our Winterlicious order --or that they'd forgotten our earlier lobster rolls for happy hour. No big deal, though we reminded them later and they brought it out. I think we could've done without the lobster roll to be honest. It's nothing special, kinda small but also priced pretty cheap too so I can't really complain. We all enjoyed our happy hour cocktails and wine that came out. It was a busy Thursday night as the house was full. When the Winterlicious food did come out, everything was delicious. We even added a round of truffle fries to pair with our steaks. Highly recommend the fries here. Of course, the steak was cooked to perfection, and the table also seemed to really enjoy the butter cake. I got the chocolate cake and it seemed a bit more decadent than I can handle. I was full to the brim at that point. What really set this experience apart was the friendly staff and atmosphere. Even though our server at times misses our order she would come by and ask again in a polite way. They made sure to listen intently when my friend mentioned she had an allergy. Johnny came over and made a personal connection as he overheard us chatting debating about upcoming vacations and bucket list destinations. Turns out, he's well-traveled and even offered us recommendations for places to visit in Asia and how to score good flights (key is you have to be very flexible). He even gave us his work email so we can email him our destinations and he'll personally give us some places to visit. Since our desserts took a while to come out he even gave a round of mini lychee cocktail from their Lunar New Year menu. How thoughtful. Would highly recommend this spot.

Yelp
I recently returned to this restaurant to try their Happy Hour menu, and once again, I was thoroughly impressed. From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly welcoming and courteous. Our server, Vig, stood out as exceptional--he was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. One of my companions has a gluten intolerance, and Vig was very thoughtful in accommodating her dietary needs. He brought gluten-free soy sauce for the sushi and even offered to substitute the bread in the mini Yorkshire with lettuce so she could enjoy it. As for the food, all the "steak" dishes we tried were flavorful and well-prepared. I especially loved the Steak Tartare Bites. The maki rolls were decent, but I wouldn't specifically recommend coming here for sushi if that's your main focus. Overall, a great spot for Happy Hour with excellent service!

Yelp
Came here for the Sunday night prime rib special, and it is a very generous portion of food to say the least. As a starter, we got Caesar salad, followed by the main prime rib with multiple sides. For dessert, we had a butter cake, which is a nice way to end the meal. Service was very professional and as expected from a steakhouse, the inside was very well decorated, and had an upscale feel. Overall, I get four stars because it felt like I could've had a similar experience at the keg for much cheaper. Next time, I'll have to try a steak to get the full experience.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were in downtown on a Saturday morning and we were talking about where to go for brunch. Then we saw a poster from this restaurant for brunch, so we decided to try this place. We were greeted warmly by the staff at the entrance. She took us to a seat around the middle of the restaurant, where there were chairs and a comfy couch. The decor was beautiful- the mix of black, sapphire blue, and hints of gold displayed elegance and style. Our waiter was a young lady who also greeted us warmly and provided a short information about the popular items from the brunch menu, as well as from their regular menu. Then she left the table, so that we can think and decide what to order. As both of us don't eat meat, we looked at their brunch menu. My boyfriend ordered 'Banoffee' Pancake with an extra side (Scrambled eggs) and I chose Crab Cake Benny. For drink, we ordered a lemonade to share. While waiting, our waiter and other staff brought water and a small cup of complimentary cinnamon sugar doughnuts. They were delicious! When our meal came, they were equally delicious! We were not expecting the portion size to be large, so when they were, we were surprised and had a great time eating like royals. The 'Banoffee' Pancakes were fluffy and the Banoffee sauce on the top added sweetness. The Crab Cake Benny was made with fried crab cakes and had pieces of avocados in the English muffins. They were crunchy and a little bit salty. During our meal, our waiter came by to check-in on us, filling water and checking to ensure that we were enjoying our meal. Torwards at the end, she surprised us with a complimentary dessert, a sweet cake. We were touched by the kind gesture, we felt very special. Try out this place for brunch- come hungry with a smile!

Yelp
Came here on a whine while I was in the area for their happy hour. Luckily they could fit me in. They have a fully covered outdoor patio, and I must say the space looks so beautiful- reminds me of a floral forward wedding, if that makes sense! Their happy hour menu is pretty decent- while not exactly buck a shuck, the oysters are $1.50 each. I ordered 1/2 dozen, along with the battered calamari and a drink. The drink and the oysters were great. The calamari was probably the worst thing I have ever eaten in my life. Either the oil wasn't hot enough or wasn't in it for long, but the coating was....gross. I really have no other way to describe it. The service...lacking. There was a large group (20 people or so) at the next table, but still, I was pretty much ignored. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars, is bc the absolute lovely person who took care of payment (not the same person as my server) was so nice and genuinely friendly. Even asked if I wanted to refresh my water.

Yelp
Back again for a lunch. Had the chicken cordon blue Thursday special. It's a good size and delicious. You don't see this dish often and this is a good one. Also has French onion soup. That was excellent. Not too salty. One of the better ones. Service was attentive and friendly. Beautiful decor as usual.

Yelp
This place is an experience. It's lively, loud, fun and always full of people. The food is good but the presentation of the food is fantastic. Very busy and food takes a while to prep, so be ready to spend 2.5-3 hours here for dinner on most nights.

Yelp
Came here for the winterlicious dinner for $75/pp. a bit of a hiccup to start when the hostess didn't provide the proper menu leading us up to the top floor for our meal. The server came by and asked if we wanted water and I advised I didn't see the winterlicious menu as that's what I booked for. The server was immediately apologetic and went to get our correct menus. We opted for the bluefin tuna sushi, lobster bisque, strip loin and butter cake for dessert. And we saw our neighbouring table order the bread which looked amazing so we added that as well. Let me first say the brioche bread was AMAZING. Probably the best bread I've had since a long time ago. The appetizers were good but not outstanding. The striploin was small , unfortunately my boyfriend steak was chewy, mine was fine but that was a bummer. The desserts tasted really well too. It was quite a hefty price for what we got but overall service was good. My highlight was definitely their bread.

Yelp
Our experience at Black and Blue was absolutely exceptional from the moment we walked in and were greeted with complimentry welcome cocktails to the moment we left. Our server Kal was very knowledgeable about the menu and made fantastic recommendations for my boyfriend suggesting the Wagu 8 oz striploin which just melted in his mouth. We dont go out often to stakehouses but we both agree if you are looking to spend a fair amount of money on a steak this place is worth every penny. Both of us could really see how much they cared about the quality of their meat even going so far as to preserve all of their meat in a locker filled with Himalayan pink sea salt to ensure perfect marbling and care. 10/10 recommend looking forward to going back!

Yelp
Came here for winterlicious but I did not know it's until 7pm only and I booked for 8pm. So we ordered from the regular menu which I expected to get a bigger portion than the fix menu of winterlicious. We ordered appetizer onion soup which tastes so good and beef tartare. The main dish was disappointing, the chicken was dry and no taste. My friend told me that he lost his taste, I tried his chicken and it really has no taste and dry. Need to marinate with the sauce on the plate longer to get the taste. My tenderloin steak is good but small portion. The headwine tastes good. Thanks for the lady staff that recommend the wine. The staff are friendly. Good customer service. Nice decoration and it was busy for a weekday late night dinner.

Yelp
A good experience with amazing beef quality and high-end atmosphere. Family from Vancouver had recommended this restaurant as they had tried the Vancouver location with a good impression. I think they pay attention to details with service here, providing a small chair for bags and hats as well as regular check ins to fill in or add orders. I had servers accidentally kick my chair or bump my shoulder when serving food, nothing alarming but I noticed it several times. Happy hour menu has great value and I think I will return to try their main menu as well. Parking options are mainly paid parking garages within a short walk.

Yelp
Great dinner spot, but bring your A game. Food was amazing and kept getting better as we looked around the room. The table seated next to us had an amazing brioche bread with cheese drizzled all over the top. Unreal. We also had the beef Wellington, which was absolutely cooked to perfection. They came to the table and cut it up for us and served it as it, it was part of the show. Fresh seafood is available and well worth it. We did not order drinks but still ended up spending $350. Overall, great spot, but be prepared to pay if you're not there during happy hour.

Yelp
Today we made a journey for brunch and dinner at Black and Blue Toronto. This is our first time brunch in this restaurant. We ordered a crab cake benny and lobster omelette. Crab cake benny is really really good to a point that we will for sure come back to have another time. This leaves a big contrast to the lobster omelette. There is so little lobster on top of the omelette with the mix of bell peppers. It also lacks flavors and definitely not worth $34. There is a promotion going on with free in house donuts in brunch time. Fast forward few hours later, we came back for dinner. Ordered a Prime Rib Sunday special and cod. For $69, it comes with Cesear salad, 14oz prime rib with 2 sides, and finish up with better cake. It is totally worth the price and enough for 2 people! We ordered the miso cod which is kind of Japanese style with soup base. Another wonderful dishes but we end up pack it to go. Great food, great service, good deal!! The signature buteer cake for dessert is good as always, but I am surprised by the brunt cheesecake. It is some smooth and creamy, and even better than the alot of dessert store who specialize in brunt cheesecake. Highly recommended Black and Blue!

Yelp
Outstanding! This restaurant was packed on a Monday night and I understand why. The food is incredible and it's a great experience all around. When they describe the cuts of meat, they have a "meat wagon" they bring out and hold up every single cut they offer and describe it to you. So fun! They were on top of everything, from drinks to dessert, and there was never a really long wait for anything, even though the bar was packed as well. The oysters were fresh, the sushi was incredible, and I can only describe the lobster pasta as perfect. The lobster meat was large chunks and it even came with steamed clams! There was a slight kick to the sauce that rounded out the dish and I can only say I wish I was allowed to lick the bowl. :-P We tried five different desserts and I would be hard-pressed to find a favorite - they were all incredible. I can't wait until the next time I'm in town. I'll be back!

Yelp
Another great happy hour find! Really delicious food with good quality ingredients. No complaints on the drinks side either! Even tho the name implies it'll be raw cuisine, I still ended up full and happy despite that not being my preference.. Top tier choice

Yelp
We just went to Black & Blue for the Happy hour. (we went on a Sunday at 2:30) the ambiance and service is superb. Our server was so attentive and friendly. The happy hour deal is amazing! 9$ cocktails, 6$ beers. And then they have $5-6 small bites. Our favourites were the Yorkshire pudding and slider. We also got the lobster rolls and mac and cheese sticks, both delicious. Lobster roll didn't have much lobster in it but I didn't expect much for $6. We also got 2 oysters each which were $1.50- they were so fresh and came with all the fixings. Basically we felt like we had a super decadent meal with lots of options and great cocktails and service for a steal of a price. It's a classy atmosphere for a great place to dress up for as well. Highly recommend!

Yelp
My second time here already since last week! Love the ambiance. I had the beef Wellington last week and it was delicious. Tonight I came back to celebrate my husband's birthday and tried other items on the menu. We ordered the tableside beef tartare, lobster bisque, the ribeye and lobster vongole. I enjoyed my pasta as the the pasta was al dente, a good portion of clams and two pieces of lobster. The service was very helpful and friendly. The black and blue butter cake was such so tasty and complimentary dessert for the birthday boy. Great place for dining and celebration!

Yelp
If the pictures of the brioche bread haven't already sold you, then keep reading. Firstly, you'll want to request Brennan as your waiter. He not only has great taste in food and cocktails, but also brings the jokes. He made the already amazing experience extra enjoyable. So the brioche bread is a must. End of story. Do not leave here without eating this bread. Brennan spoke very highly of the items from the raw bar, so we knew we couldn't pass up the king salmon roll. It was very good - you could taste the quality of every ingredient. We of course got a steak, but we knew we needed a non-steak entree, and Brennan said the roasted chicken was a fan favorite. He was right; it was phenomenal. The jus that accompanied it was a delight. I thought the chimichurri was a nice bright addition to the dish. 10/10. While there were a multitude of steak options, we settled on the 8oz tenderloin, cooked medium rare. It was wonderful. Brennan mentioned in the time that he has worked there, no one has sent a steak back. I see why! The steak had a great crust & was well seasoned. It sliced perfectly. And the creamed spinach side paired nicely (although next time I would probably opt for a different side). By this point we were stuffed but still felt like skipping dessert was out of the question. Per Brennan's recommendation, we got their signature buttercake to go. I thought buttercake would be boring, but it was anything but. We found it to be dense, moist, and of course, buttery. I highly recommend. 8.5/10! This restaurant is a must!!!

Yelp
This place is amazing! Tried it during the lunch...in a rush so cannot try the full set. However, the service and food here are amazing. The food is very tasty and creative with salmon crispy skin. The interior design is modern..vibe is great as well! Highly recommended! Will revisit soon

Yelp
This is a nope for me. Out of so many impressive restaurants in Toronto, this one is not it. Granted, the environment and decor is beautiful but for this price I was expecting better quality food and better service. Ambiance is great though so if you're here just for the ambiance then it will do. If you're bringing someone for a work dinner or lunch, I think this is a good place. If you're here for the food, there are many much better places in Toronto. I ordered the chicken entree and it was pretty tough and dry. The flavour comes purely from the sauce - the chicken itself has no taste. Another of our party ordered a steak and it was mid - there's really no other way to describe it. The service actually started out good, my water was always full and they would come around to scrape the food crumbs off the table after every course. However when it came time to pay and we wanted split checks the server gave us an attitude for even daring to request such a thing. First of all, our bill is not even that complicated to split and second of all I've never been to a Toronto restaurant that doesn't offer split checks. I know in other cities split checks may not be common, but in Toronto most restaurants will even ask you if you wanted to split the bill or pay in one bill so this is honestly not an astronomical ask. Anyway, we did tell them that if it's too hard it's fine we can pay in one bill and split it ourselves after but we would prefer just being able to pay for our own meals at the table. In the end they were able to split our bills but it also did take a very long time. Maybe their POS system is not versatile, is outdated, and is not able to split bills easily? This experience left us with a bad taste in our mouth bc you would assume a restaurant supposedly operating at this higher level, charging these higher prices, would be able to do this simple (and common) ask easily and without the attitude. I don't think this is asking too much at a restaurant where there is a $450 seafood tower on the menu and a regular (dry) roast chicken entree is already $39. Overall, not impressed and not a place for foodies.

Yelp
TLDR: ignore the bad reviews. I seriously don't understand why the bad reviews? Karen much? Probably bunch of entitled rich snobbish Karens. Anyways, interior looks nice and classy. Dress code is business casual, but not super strict. Just respect the venue and don't come in with flip flops. We ordered beef Wellington, ribeye, and risotto. For appetizers, we got beef carpaccio, crab cake, and brioche. Everything was cooked to perfection, especially the ribeye and beef Wellington. Service was top notch. Our server Vig was fun and seemed passionate about this job. He took care of us from the beginning till the end and kept refilling our drinks without needing us to ask. Hands down one of the best steakhouse I have ever been to. Top notch service and high quality meat! Will definitely be back and hopefully we get Vig as our server again!

Yelp
I ordered the coq au vin dish instead of steak because it is one of my favourite dishes. Made with a red wine braised chicken, pearl onions, pancetta, stewed tomatoes, baby heirloom carrots. The carrots were much too crisp. Almost hard. And the pancetta was over cooked. I didn't eat much of those rather pushed them to the side. The chicken was cooked well - a little dry actually. I'd rather that then underdone to be honest. I was disappointed by the bitterness at the end. Which made me wonder if the other reviews that found this with the red meats and their jus was now a preference in general. I have to agree with my fellow yelpers. It's either an issue of timing with the jus or a wine with a high tannin as a preference. Not sure but I can't say I would order this again. I love this French classic. My favourite was at Balthazar in NYC. I had at the minimum an expectation of a rich, saucy, savoury essence. Welcoming and rounded, umami flavour without bitterness. I had one of their mocktails, situationship. I enjoyed that. Overall, besides the original server/bartender I had - not one person smiled in that place. I found this quite unusual. Just when I exited and there was an eyeglass wearing hostess - did she seem friendly and smile.

Yelp
The atmosphere was nice! I would recommend this restaurant for work meals, dates, and nicer gathering with friends! The food was good too, but I realized they forgot to give me part of my order. My Stuffed Yorkie was supposed to come with fries and greens but I didn't not get any greens. I didn't realize this until I looked at the menu again after I left the restaurant. I do not appreciate being served me an incomplete dish, and the server not noticing/ doing anything about it.

Yelp
Quite an elegant place for happy hour, great vibe, not noisy at all, making it an ideal spot to chat and unwind. Menu is very well designed. Mini Yorkshire - Rib was well braised with red wine broth (tasted more like soy sauce), perfect for bites. Steak Tartar Bites - Love this one. The crispy potato base provided a satisfying crunch, complemented by tender beef tenderloin and an egg yolk on top. The combination of flavours was yummy. Charcuterie - Elegant presentation. Drinks were good too, not impressive but up to the mark. Service was great, the staff was knowledgeable and added water on time. Food (quality, presentation) - 5/5 Drinks (quality, variety) - 3/5 Ambience (interior, cleanness) - 5/5 Service - 4/5 Value - 4/5

Yelp
Black + Blue I love happy hour menus - and I loved my visit when they opened up a location in Toronto from Vancouver! Their happy menu items are slightly different from Vancouver, but def found some interesting items to try! Beer tartare bites - amazing! I could prob eat a bunch of these featuring hand cut beef tenderloin, pickled shallots, grated egg yolk, foie gras snow, cornichon and crispy potato rosti - everything was so well balanced in one bite! Crispy Calamari - I loved the batter - it was super light! Paired with their jalapeño aioli and lemon drizzle it was just delightful! Mac & Cheese stick - I had these in Vancouver and they were still just as good here! Mini Yorkshire - delicious! Loved the shaved prime rib, caramelized onion, red wine jus, and horseradish crema ~ it's the perfect Amt of Yorkshire pudding for me lol King salmon roll - sushi rice was well seasoned, and loved the crab filling with the salmon on top! A5 wagyu - I would have to say other than the steak tartare bites this one was def impressionable! Cooked on a hot Himalayan salt block and with various dipping sauces it was just so rich and delicious Mocktail was delicious too! They also have some amazing items on their other menus - loved the ambience and I loved the covered patio - so beautifully decorated! If you haven't had a chance to check it out you should! There is parking available in the building but it is not validated by the restaurant though (in case you are wondering!)

Yelp
Food: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 1/5 This restaurant has very nice interiors so definitely makes you feel like celebrating something special when visiting. We were greeted very pleasantly and led to the bar to wait for our table to be ready. We were a group of 4 and each got a glass of wine. Service at the bar 5/5 and server was very attentive with refilling water etc (as you would expect at a high-end steakhouse). Once we got our table (on the second floor) we met our server for the night who seemed lovely. They even gave us napkins according to what we were wearing to avoid lint (we were super impressed!). Our orders went in and we got our appetizer which was really good! We were all super hungry because we were saving our appetite all day for this so we clearly finished it very quickly. After our Appetizer plates cleared we got caught up in catching up but soon realized our mains still hadn't come out and this was over an hour later. The server and manager who was around our area multiple times during this didn't care to check on our food which was actually quite odd (we get that they were busy and the place was packed but everyone else around us seemed to get served). Once we spoke to the manager our mains made its way out around 1 h 20 mins later. We had plans after dinner so as the food arrived we dug in. One of steaks were burnt. After mentioning to the manager they dismissed it and said "my apologies" which was rather dissapointing. The steak was BAD (0/5)... could taste the burnt pieces and crunchyness which should not be there for a medium rare cooked steak... (the Keg is a million times better). For the delay, our server apologized that they actually didn't check on us when they should have (appreciate that!) BUT after but also threw in a personal story on how they can't lose their job and to not complain against them and instead to just not tip (which we thought was so unprofessional). If they did not say that we probably would have still tipped! The manager came out and claimed the stoves had to be turned off for a while and that's why the food took a while (but none of that was communicated to us). Overall - both had different stories. We were offered a complimentary drink and fries (!!) For us to share (sad that from their vast menu they brought fries) which at this point we weren't in the mood to entertain since our plans post dinner had to get canceled. Not impressed with the mixed story excuses and response to the steak. Giving 2 stars because food was actually pretty decent (except for the one steak) and the service started out impeccable at the beginning (in the bar area). We walked in thinking this would be an upscale steakhouse on the same level as Harbour 60, Bluebloods, Hy's etc... but definitely NOT. Thought the food was decent, will not be returning due to the service.

Yelp
I am extremely disappointed with the service at this restaurant. While the drinks and appetizers were tasty and fairly priced during happy hour, the server purposely charged our entire group regular price for one drink and the happy hour price for the other. We only realized after paying and the manager had to come to re-do the payment. This was not a mistake, as evidenced by the snide comment the server made at the end of our meal. The intentional dishonesty left a bitter taste in our mouths, and despite the quality of the food and drinks, I will not be returning. Horrible service like this is inexcusable and overshadows any positive aspects of the dining experience.

Yelp
Black+Blue has become an easy recommendation for steak and overall quality of food, service, and ambience for me. The interior design and decor is a beautiful mix of modern and classic steak house with their dark woods combined with modern golds. Service is impeccable. Perfect for a date night, night out w/ friends, birthdays/special occasions, drinks at the bar, or patio brunch (their patio is gorgeous). I went for their Prime Rib Sundays ($69) which includes their famous prime rib (10/10 very succulent and thick) that comes with a side of 7/10 Yorkshire pudding, 7/10 mashed potatoes, 7/10 caesar salad, 7/10 seasonal vegetables, and ending with their Signature Butter Cake (10/10 this was unreal, I would order an extra because you won't want to share!). Tableside Steak Tartare 9/10: very entertaining and tastes great. Steak was very tender and topped with lots of rich and savoury ingredients like egg yolk and foie gras snow. Can't go wrong. Lobster Carbonara 10/10: I heard they don't have this on the menu anymore but they should really bring it back. Best carbonara I've ever had in Toronto. Sauce had a perfect consistency and the flavours were richly well balanced. Visited: June 25, 2023 @ 2:30pm

Yelp
Get the bone-in rib eye and caesar salads :) I went for my anniversary and they made it extra special for my bf and I. I would suggest going on a sunday or weekday where it's less busy. The ambiance is dark and aesthetic. everything about it is perfect ! I did sit upstairs which I liked more than downstairs :)

Yelp
Their prix fixe lunch menu ($45) offers diners a choice of a main with either an appetizer or dessert (some supplements required). Word for the wise: you'll want to share the appetizers as some dishes are rich and the portion sizes would impress a Texan. Thinly sliced barely seared beef forms a beautiful ruby base for the beef carpaccio. Dressed in horseradish crema and tangy pickled shimeji mushrooms, the two give the meat bright pops of flavour. Personally, I would have gone with either the crispy shallot or fried capers on the dish; having both seems like overkill and the oily garnishes overtook the delicate tender beef. But the slices of shaved parmesan were a great addition offering a bit of sweet and saltiness. Black + Blue's calamari is left in thick sticks, lovely bites of tender and meaty squid. The coating is crispy and light but also too salty so that it renders the dipping sauce useless. If you're going to provide a condiment, it's best to reduce the seasoning so that diners can taste the sauce. Leave room for the mains as they are big. A huge cone of sizzling hot parmesan fries arrives with the steak frites ($15 supplement), they are deliciously covered with a layer of cheese and a bit of parsley for a fresh richness. Once again, I did find them over seasoned so with the garlic aioli (a tasty rendition) it ends up being too salty. I also had to leave the red wine jus unused as it was a bit too soy sauce and beef stock heavy to pair with the steak. The steak frites includes a sizeable sirloin but it was cooked poorly: the medium rare is well seared on the outside but still fully rare in the middle. My husband, an excellent steak preparer, hypothesizes that the meat was too cold before being placed in the pan, evidenced by the tell-tale ring instead of a gradient doneness. When my friend mentioned the undercooked steak to the manager, he brought over a doneness card to indicate the steak was cooked to their medium rare standard. My recommendation: print more of these cards and place one in each menu, so diners understand Black + Blue's definition as it doesn't appear to follow the Toronto standard. Still, the manager was nice about it and noted they would have been happy to put the steaks back on the grill (likely not something chefs trying to time the next table would be "happy" about) and made up for the miscommunication with a plate of petit fours. Underdone steak aside, Black + Blue nailed their service as everyone was a delight: professional and attentive without making the restaurant seem stuffy.

Yelp
What a meal! We did not expect it to start and end this well. We started with the house baked cheese bread that was $12. We joked about it being a simple baguette but it turned out so much better than we expected. I would even return just for wine and bread haha! The most memorable meal we had was the Cowboy Ribeye, King Salmon and the Mushroom Risotto. The four boys had the rib eye special but they all did not finish their tough meat. The special included a Caesar salad, rib eye with sides of Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes, and a sweet dessert to finish. It was the most regrettable decision amongst the boys as they could've ordered two and shared the special so they could try the other options on the menu. However the sides that came along with the special was highlight of the dish. The dessert was overly sweet for our liking. The server (in my photo) was very friendly and knowledgeable. He did a wonderful job and would love to be seated in his section again. Thank you for being a great host.

Yelp
I came because this cheesy bread on tiktok. It was delicious!! I also got the filet and it melted in my mouth like butter. The service was the best I've had in Canada, they have a stool just for your purse. I came with my mom, but there were couples of dates and friend groups as well.

Yelp
So, it was my first time visiting Black+Blue with my family. To be honest, it DID NOT disappoint! We were there to celebrate my birthday & my aunt's birthday back in November (a few weeks ago). Ambiance = It was VERY BOUJEE and I LOVE the aesthetics. I ADORE the very tall wall of wine (even though I don't drink wine lol). Plus, there's a WALL OF MEAT near by as well!! FOOD - The food was absolutely HEAVENLY! All of us were trying each others dishes like the Calamari, Mac + Cheese Sticks, Colossal Shrimp Cocktail and Crab Cake. (To be honest, I thought there was going to be more crab cakes on the plate). The main dish that I ordered was the Lobster Vongole. It was absolutely delicious and my favourite main dish! SERVICE = We want to thank the servers for being so good to us. From introducing the various types and cuts of meat, the wine and helping me select a cocktail with cute puns in homage to various movies and pop culture references (i.e.: Spirited Away).

Yelp
Came here with a group of colleagues for a meeting lunch. The service and staff were very professional and on point. The atmosphere was really nice and I must say that they did a great job on the decor and use of space. Our fix lunch menu was a bit of a disappointment. The majority of us ordered the steak. For all most all of us the meat was cooked perfectly but there was a lot of tendon, grizzle and chewy pieces in the steak. It was not what I would expect from a place like this. Dessert was also average with a Panna Cotta that looked great but was not very impressive. The highlight of our meal was the appetizers which was the seak tartar amd the salad with crispy prosciutto. I was told by a few friends that they were there a few weeks prior and the steaks were very good. So maybe it was a bad batch. Ill most likely try it again and hope for a better result.

Yelp
The absolute best steak house. The table side Caesar and service was exceptional. The french onion soup was amazing sweet and the mac and cheese sticks are amazing and on happy hour. The steaks were exceptional and the brioche buns were hot and melted in your mouth. Fancy ambiance but incredible service and an overall perfect dining experience.

Yelp
The most amazing experience!! Went here for a birthday dinner and the atmosphere was very warm and inviting. Our guest service professional/bartender Ucal made the night very pleasant. He was engaging, attentive, very knowledgeable of the menu and drinks available. He had recommendations and knew how to explain his recommendations. The food was very tasty and came out fresh each time. The presentation was lovely.

Yelp
Chose to celebrate my sister's birthday here.  Great customer service.  We booked at the wrong location,  however they will made accommodations. Food was delicious, would highly recommend. We ordered the brioche and Brussels for the table. Bread is so soft but the outside has a nice crunch. The butter and cheese compliment it well. Excuse the photo, it was taken after being half eaten.  The Brussels  ... Entrees - I had the risotto and added salmon. And my sister had the Lobster pasta. Why we came to a steak house to get seafood I'll never know lol but it was good. Drinks- Lamplighter's serenade which is essentially an expresso martini sub tequila and add Chile. Very good on Chile wasn't strong at all.  My sister had the Fools gold, which is spirit free and said it was bitter.  Overall. Nice music. Cute vibe. Good service. I'd recommend.

Yelp
An outstanding experience. Service was top tier - knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and attentive to smallest details. Ambiance was comfortable elegant. Seating not too crowded and comfortable. Lighting comfortable on the eyes and not overly dark. The food was excellent. We opted to share several different steaks ranging from wagyu rib to prime tenderloin. All excellent. Tender and flavourful. The rib was definitely favourite. Perfectly seasoned. These could be too rich for some folks taste. Side and apps were also fantastic. Brioche bread super decadent! Sun dried tomato butter was really tasty!
