The 22 Best Restaurants in Marrakech, Morocco - Eater

"As the city becomes home to a growing population of immigrants from several countries in West Africa, Blackchich is one of several restaurants reflecting Senegal’s culinary influence on Morocco. The medina restaurant’s mix of Senegalese and Moroccan dishes makes it a good option for lunch, dinner, or anytime you might like mafe yappou nague (beef in peanut sauce) served with rice and vegetables. The cafe also serves tartines topped with fresh ingredients like goat cheese, hummus, and a variety of vegetables. [$ - $$]" - Amanda Ponzio-Mouttaki

Absolutely delicious food here and a stunning rooftop with great sunset views. Service was very friendly. Only drawback is they are cash only and was not notified of this despite booking my table - nowhere on the confirmation or reconfirmation did it state this which would have been good to know in advance. Not fun trying to navigate the souks alone at 10pm on only our second day there which my partner waited at the restaurant!

We came to this restaurant twice, would definitely recommend the Mafe Boeuf and Kenyan red curry, was full of flavour and the beef was tender. We then had the orange peel brownie which was lovely, our waiter was very kind and provided great service. The decoration was very nice and with a relaxed atmosphere. Definitely somewhere worth trying in Morocco for something a bit different!

We were craving something different and happened to spot this African restaurant by chance—and what a find it was! The Kenyan curry with its tender, slow-cooked beef was absolutely amazing. Rich, flavorful, and comforting—just what my tastebuds needed. We also tried the trio of meat pies, each with its own unique filling and all bursting with flavor—an absolute must-try. To top it off, the orange peel brownie was absolutely amazing—perfectly rich with a zesty twist that made it unforgettable. The staff were pleasant and welcoming, and the decor was a treat in itself, with each floor showcasing its own unique style and charm. Highly recommend if you're looking to try something new and delicious!

BlackChich African Berber Fusion – Marrakech 🌿 A relaxed and easy-going atmosphere makes BlackChich a great place to unwind while enjoying something a little different from the usual Medina offerings. It’s a perfect mix of laid-back dining and cultural charm. 🌍 The fusion of African vibes with Moroccan influence is felt in both the decor and the menu. There’s a distinct character to the space that reflects the energy of Sub-Saharan Africa blended with local Berber warmth. 🍔 The Black Camel Burger is a standout – juicy, flavourful, and something you won’t find everywhere. Pair it with their deep-fried potato chips, which are crispy, golden, and satisfying. 💸 Prices are decent for the quality and creativity on offer. It’s a great option for those looking to explore African fusion without breaking the bank. Definitely worth a visit if you're after something fresh and flavourful in Marrakesh.

We had a group brunch here on a hot day. Until they started playing music the noise level was very low and it was easy to have conversations at a normal level. We sat inside, so it was a cooler option than outside in the heat wave, although it would have been nice to have windows that open for better airflow. It was a bit stuffy with the sun shining. Overall, the food was good. My friend and I shared a salad that was very good - well balanced and well-seasoned. Another member of our group raved about the rfissa. The rest of the food was ok. The food options were unique and varied, so there's something for everyone here. The service was excellent. Although there was a bit of a mix up regarding chips/crisps and the timing of a couple of dishes, overall we were pleased and found our server to be polite and helpful.

Negatives: We arrived at around 1855hrs (booked for 1900hrs) during Ramadan and we did not get served, nor have it explained to us that we would have to wait for the staff to break fast. I have absolutely no issue with it, it was nice to enjoy the rooftop views but from a service standpoint you should tell your guests. I only found out because I overheard them telling a group on the table away from us. This included not getting a drink either for quite some time. We also asked for chilli oil / sauce with the main incase we wanted to add spice. That didn’t come and with having a few different waiters and waitresses it became a challenge to get what we asked for and even when it came it was some sort of spicy seasoning and not what thought we were getting. Positives: I know there was quite a few negatives there. However, the ambience was lovely. The views were nice, the tables were well placed, seats were comfy. Blankets offered for the cold and music was on point for the vibe. We ordered 2 cans of pop, and 2 mains, the Ramen and then Beef Red Curry. The beef curry was super tasty, fresh cubes of beef which melted in the mouth with a delicious creamy but spicy sauce with some rice. Unfortunately not a huge portion size for me. The Raman was nice, that’s about it. The eggs were overdone and it lacked a kick but otherwise it was nice. The decor was great, the staff were helpful, although failed they did try. It gets a 4 solely on my beef and the vibes but there is plenty to work on here. Don’t miss it, it’s hidden away and it’s worth a punt. Paid 330MAD (£26ish)

this place is delicious!!! i love the way it’s decorated, very aesthetic, but also the food is SO GOOD!! we got the vegetarian mafe, chicken & chips plate, and the kenyan red curry, and they were all so yummy (though the kenyan red curry was probably our favorite).

we spent our valentines dinner here.. what a blast. Food was excellent, and refreshing to have something else than moroccan food after a week. It’s very well presented and service is outstanding. The ginger and pineapple juice is amazing.
