The Blackfoot Diner

Lots of history here. It's been around for many many years. The diner hasn't changed much. It's been ran by the same family for over 60 years. This establishment was the go to place for many truckers and locals at its peak in the 60s 70s and 80s but now it just feels like it's lost its glory. Unfortunately it seems as though it's on a downward trend but their are still lots of the old regulars that come . I found the prices to be too high The food was decent but , you can tell it's not made with the same love it originally had back in the day . The tables and decor are old , weathered but hold many memories and stories . I just wish the owner would refresh and reinvigorate the place to reflect the love his mother had for the place . I'm sure she would be thrilled and proud to see her legacy live on to serve her community for another 60 years !

I tried this diner for the first time and was really impressed. I ordered a breakfast plate and was blown away by both the portion size and the quality. Everything was cooked perfectly, the shredded hash browns were golden and flavorful, and my over-easy eggs were done just right. Paired with the rye toast, the whole dish came together beautifully. I also tried the coconut cream pie for dessert, and it was excellent. The flavors were well balanced, not overly sweet, and the crust was delicious and flaky. Overall, a great experience from start to finish. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes!

Definitely feels like you’ve stepped back in time coming here with the decor and accessories. Lovely hardworking waitresses but seems like maybe only one cook for a busy day? You can spend a good amount of time here but if you’re in a rush, we waited half an hour for food. The food was good. The flapper pie was like a custard with a merigue on top. It was ok. Great portions for the price. Would come again if I were not in a rush.

This was our first time here and it was fantastic! My family loved their cheese burgers (splurge for the onion rings - they are so good!) - have a milkshake, they are thick and creamy. I had liver and onions and it was delicious. Can't wait to come back and try more things. Our server was friendly and kind.

We waited almost an hour for our food to arrive. We ordered omelettes and a beef dip. The omelettes were good, but the toast wasn’t properly toasted. The beef dip was disappointing because it was poorly cooked, very chewy, and cold. The food was also overpriced for the quality. Overall, we did not have a good experience at Blackfoot

Just look at that slice of pie.. What other reason do you need to go to the Blackfoot Diner ? Ya the food is awesome, the service is even better, and there's a train doing laps around the diner.. We'll definitely be repeat customers after our first visit. And I definitely recommend this place if your looking for an "old school" diner !! And I really, really, truly, and honestly recommend the PIE !!!!!!

Stopped in at this iconic Calgary diner on Saturday morning... Was immediately greeted by a friendly server that asked me if I would like coffee to start as she directed me towards an open booth. This place is very spacious and quite unique with the decor in mind. The food is what you would imagine from a Truckstop Diner, just good short order items without the 'frills' at a reasonable price... I don't come down to this area of the city too often. However, if I am downtown early in the morning then I am happy to swing over to the Inglewood region and grab a good solid breakfast..... Bottom Line: 8.8 out of 10

She handed me a hamburger soup I did not order, with spillage all around the support plate. She also forgot to give me hollandaise sauce with my meal and when i asked she took her time , and I heard the microwave nuke up. Never coming again i would never recommend. Also the person I came to eat with, ordered a hamburger, she had to come tell us they burnt it and were making a new one( we had been here for 30 mins at this point, then we finally got served a patty that definitely has been frozen and thawed from the microwave.

I was playing around with Chat GPT and asked them what are things I could eat in Calgary. Suprisingly they told me to try a Flapper pie. I have lived in Calgary for over 20 years and never heard of this dish and I have a sweet tooth. Therefore I knew this was something I had to try and found out Blackfoot Diner was here the pie originated from. The truckstop itself was really good. Prices are ok and you get a nice diner style breakfast with no frill service. The flapper pie itself....not my cup of tea. You do get a nice slice but I will be trying another pie the next time I'm at this truck stop.

Not sure what's going on here, whether it's new owners, new management or what, but this place has gone downhill. Big time. Came with some out of town friends, who had never experienced the diner, and now that we've been, I regret that decision. Got there a little after 10am on a Friday. Not super busy. There were lots of empty tables. Got told to sit wherever and someone would be with us shortly. Clearly their definition of shortly is vastly different than mine, because we sat there for almost 10 minutes before someone came over and just tossed menus at us before walking away. Someone finally came back and gruffly asked if we wanted any drinks. We all ordered coffee, and were served what resembled lukewarm brown liquid that might have been coffee at some point a couple hours earlier. Mentioned this, and was greeted with an exasperated sigh followed by "No one else seems to have an issue with it! But I'll see what I can do!" Grabs our cups and shuffles off. I could see them making new coffee, so that was a plus. While the fresh coffee was brewing our order got taken by a different server, as the original one seemingly vanished between starting the coffee and thinking about taking our order. We waited for someone to bring our coffees while waiting for our food and that seemed like it wasn't going to happen, as both the servers we had encountered were busy having a conversation with who I assumed was the manager while looking right at our table. This didn't sit well with me, so I walked over to where they were standing and politely asked them to cancel our order, we'd be going elsewhere. The first server didn't say anything, but the second one gave a "it's already being made" "we can't cancel it" excuse while the manager chose to just walk away. I told them we were leaving, and one would think that's the end of it, but once we left, and found somewhere else to eat, I called the diner and asked to speak to a manager, to be told "if you are the table that walked out, they won't be talking to you. Consider you and your friends blacklisted!" Now normally, this would have upset me, but after how we were treated, they did us a favour. I hope whoever is running this place (into the ground) sees the multiple negative reviews and does something to fix what was once a great place to have a decent meal. Edna would be mortified if she knew what had happened to what USED to be a gem in Calgarys dining scene.

Where so I start? 1st off all. 20 min to order. Other people coming in after and getting their order in. 20 min wait for food. Everything warm or cold. Toast so cold butter did not melt. Over easy eggs so over cooked. Home fries 1/2 still on the plate. They were the ends. So small and dried out. Inedible. Pay the bill. Won't show me the bill or the pos until I paid. They gave themselves a 5 buck tip. It's illegal to not show the customer unless they pay 1st. It's the LAW. I got the tip back, but the server still got the tip. 0 professionalism. The absolute worst place I have ever eaten at. 0/5 .

Parking - lots. Interior - 1960's diner and has not been updated in years. Wait staff - slow and over-worked. But the job gets done. Food - Delicious. Regardless of what you're ordering, breakfast, lunch or dinner it comes out hot and good.

Total fail. We went for dinner and won't do that again. Place was dirty, booth seats all had huge rips in them, condiment bottles were sticky, the toy train squealed louder than the music. Food was old and cold. $22 beef dip was dry and fatty, au jus and fries were both cold. Didn't get the side coleslaw with it. $23 Turkey dinner was missing a side also and the soup. Saw our waitress twice and that was it. Waited 15 mins for the pie before asking for it at the cash register. Don't waste ur money.

I can handle a dingy truck stop as long as the food is good. But the food was below average...and expensive. Lemon merengue pie was good, but the bananas in the banana cream pie were literally black.

It's so sad to give the BFD a failing grade. I have been going there for decades. Took my kids there when they were young and more recently grandkids. The food was always great and plentiful. Not anymore. I have tried real hard to weather the ownership change but after at least five visits things are only getting worse. The food is awful, quite often cold and the portions are small. The serving staff are still the same great gals I have gotten to know over the year. I feel for them, I'm sure they hate to see regulars dropping away. Things change, that's just part of life. So I will say goodbye to an old friend.

The service was slower than if a snail and turtle had an offspring. The bathroom was filthy and graffitied. The seats were ripped, Food was horendous. Just don't go there.

I ordered breakfast and when eating my eggs found a piece of beige carpet in my breakfast went to bathroom and the lady took that piece before I could take a picture Enjoy your food at Blackfoot Truckstop Diner

Waited in a booth for ten minutes while cold air blew on us and no wait staff appeared as we perused the menu. $22.50 for a small double hamburger and fries + %15 tip = $27.25 for each person. Downright disgraceful. After seeing this , dealing with the cold air and not even a glass of water from the staff... we got up and left to go to Rocky's Burgers just down the road where we paid $30 for about the same amount of food. There is a less than zero chance we will ever eat there. Blackfoot truck stop = Epic price gouging.

It's not a good place to eat the service is bad the language from one is very bad we sat there for hour she kept passing us with no service treating us like we where not even there if Edna was there that would not be going on

Poor Food. Understaffed. Some of the staff are horrendous. They think they're doing you a favour by helping you if they even do. I used to go to this restaurant but this Sunday will be the last. Waited an hour to order and just kept being ignored. We finally left. Poor customer service skills, average food which was tolerable until they raised their prices.

Went there for pancakes a couple months ago and the staff were rude and the pancake uncooked inside. paid $15 for pancakes and eggs. swore I wouldn't go there anymore. Returned yesterday to get take out and paid $28 for chicken fingers (5 pce) which comes with fries. this is a great place to go if you like expensive, mediocre food and sometimes rude service.

A train that circles overhead. A waitress that calls you 'dear' and 'sweetheart' in a darling UK accent (we all fell in love with Her, she is LEGIT). Flapper pie that is sky-high. Great prices. Free wi-fi. An extensive menu. A clientele that looks like a casting call for 'visually fascinating extras'. SERIOUSLY, what is not to like? We came for breakfast. We will return for lunch and dinner. The traditional breakfast was surprisingly ungreasy. The corned beef hash was tasty and well seasoned. Coffee refills aplenty and lots to look at. If I had to offer one suggestion: more seasoning on the potato 'hash browns'.

I always come here when I can. It has a great hot turkey sandwich. Piled high with fresh roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and d actual turkey gravy. I will be the first to admit it's not 5 star, but a good meal. The staff are always helpful and eager to assist. It certainly has seen better days and the area has taken a downturn, but don't let that stop you from being nostalgic. I've never had a bad meal here.

Food was great I had the pancakes with the bacon and I do have to say it was spot on except the waiting time which was longer than expected but I have to say it was worth it. A lot of lights every where which made the experience nice and pleasant. The waiters were polite and respectful to the costumers, but overall I enjoyed the restaurant and give it a 4/5.

The service was TERRIBLE. We waited over 2o mins to even get menus. Another 15mins to order. Another 30 mins to get food and had to ASK to get our drinks when the food finally came. The food was mediocre at best. People coming in were sitting at tables that were not cleared because nobody was clearing tables.

WOW!!! This place went from one extreme to the other! I have been going there for over 35 years and the last decade or so this place has really declined significantly. They used to serve you too much food, but now it's very skimpy to say the least. last night we ordered the "hamburger casserole" and the "turkey barley soup." There was ABSOLUTELY NO turkey in the soup and almost no hamburger in the"casserole." Needless to say we will not be returning any time soon. Contrary to popular belief, you can still make better food than that for a lower cost WITHOUT making people feel as though they made a mistake in stopping for a bite to eat! Go back to the drawing board, ya'll!!!!!!!!!!!! It would be a real shame to see this place close. It has been a landmark for so long! Show us the LOVE, Blackfoot!!!!!!!!!

Good quantity, good taste at a decent price. Love diners. Will be going back to try their breakfast.

Get a hearty meal for low price. I had the hamburger special. Bowl of soup, meal, dessert, coffee for under $15. Fresh made bread. Gravy on everything! Great service and friendly too. It was so long ago since I had been here, Yelp! Wasn't invented yet. I'll be back.

Take a step back in time and enjoy table side jute boxes, trains the circle around your head while you eat, down to the out fits on the servers. Love it! Best for a good old greasy breakfast and fluffy pancakes. Don't forget to have your flapper pie it's world famous!

Drove across town for my second breakfast visit here. Prices have gone up and quality has gone down. Smells of new management strategies. My eggs were not over-easy but almost sunny side up. The butter on my toast never melted as the toast was room temperature. The shredded hash browns were old, overcooked and also room temperature. The coffee, pancake and sausage was good. The increase in prices and decrease in quality of food at Blackfoot Truckstop Diner gets it crossed off my list. I never complain at a restaurant, I just start spending my money elsewhere.

This was so disappointing. Good reviews but awful food. Pancake was soggy and served on a undersized plate. A skimpy serving of nearly raw, unfried potatoes sloppily on top of the cake beside day old, rock hard, overcooked and flavorless sausages. Coffee tasted like water. Toast and eggs were only okay not great, missing a piece upon arrival. No hot syrup as promised just corn syrup tasting container from a brand I've never seen. Only redeeming quality is charming atmosphere and low price. You get what you pay for they say but we still paid too much.

It's taken me almost two weeks to decide what I thought of the Blackfoot Truck Stop. My first impression was a 2 star. I stopped in for lunch awhile back with a friend of mine and the place was packed at 130 in the afternoon with all kinds of folk, from randoms to suits, truly only the kind of variety a truck stop can attract. It took longer than it should've for a server to come clear the table we had chosen and even at that, we had to go looking for one of them. Our food came out quickly, I had a reuben with some potato cheddar soup. The soup arrived first with some slices so squashed bread. Did they really bring that to my table? So why the four-star? For uniqueness and authenticity. The servers wear pink scrubs and I swear the one serving us was easily 70 years old. She kept called me sweetie. The memorabilia on the walls keeps you entertained even if the people don't. And there's a model train that runs the loop of the restaurant near the ceiling. Many of the pictures on the walls are even lit up with tiny lights shining through them. Next time I'm heading in at 3 am. I bet it's a whole other diner then.

A solid and most of all honest place! No frills, no special treatment,no fancy this or that! They have a choo choo train riding up on the rafters and worn out tables on which thousands and thousands of elbows have rested. This place has a soul. The food is much like the atmosphere, simple, hearty goodness. It's mildly seasoned (which would be a crime in certain restaurants) but here it's part of the shtick, a lot of older people come here and they prefer to season their own food, it's a common practice of classic eating holes. Being sensitive to those who "don't like too much salt" or "don't like it spicy" also to those who have health conditions that need to monitor what they eat. One other great feature, this place is cheap and has very fair pricing for everything on the menu! It's open 24 hours and is a great late night destination ( much better than Denny's). The servers have lots of personality and are a pleasure to chat with. In my opinion, it's one of those few places that all ages, all walks of life are truly welcome and all treated with the same care. No niche crowds here, (well maybe truckers are a niche crowd!) But it really does have a homely feel about it and its one of the few restaurants where outdated and worn out decor actually enhance the experience. It is what it is ! A true Calgary classic! Nothing more, nothing less! Check it out! 4/30

Holy cow! YAH....got a t-bone steak for $15.... include soup and ice cream for dessert it's today's special it's not called t-bone steak though...Porter house steak....omg...so good of course didn't finish it.... If you read my review today...go to Blackfoot truck stop. ...

I just love diners! Kinda got lost in this area, at first a bit industrial simply b/c of this huge land that it's sitting on, with the old-style Petro Canada there, which not surprisingly, same owner who built the current location 35 years ago..no wonder it's an antique inside, and it should stay that way lol. Even has an enclosed seating area on the left, complete with booths. Your typical breakfast/burgers joint but when I saw the lemon meringue pie, I've had a craving for it and for $4, it was one of the best slices I've had...and not too sweet or sour (well, it's lemon after all). Did inquire about their well-known "flapper pie" which is basically custard instead of the lemon part. Nah, I'm a bit old-fashioned, why mess with a great concept ;) Unbelievably, this place even takes amex! Don't let the shop name fool ya, it's quite large, good 75 seats easy, with super friendly staff..dont' dig their hospital-grubs as a uniform, but you sure can't miss their pink ;)

Great diner. I had the Western Omelet breakfast. Staff was courteous, the Food came out quickly. Omelet was fine, potatoes were like rubber. Not coming back.

I love the nostalgia of this authentic old school diner. You can sense the history here from the well worn table tops to the train that scoots through the restaurant well above your head and the friendly service you get it feels like going home. Come in and seat yourself and you will see a broad range of people and personalities enjoying their food (24 hours a day). Somehow I suspect the food would taste way better at 2am ;-) And this is where they lose a star. From what we have ordered in the past... mostly burgers, chicken fingers and sandwiches their food is mostly pre- bought (makes me think of GFS~ please correct me if I am mistaken). My Hubs is excited to go back and try something that must be homemade off the menu and I will be happy to join him!

I had the worst meal here today. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. The coffee tasted like sludge, the eggs were cold, the thing under the ham and eggs was cold, and frozen in bits, the hollandaise was tasteless and the ham was just outa the fridge. I've eaten at this establishment in the past and never had a bad meal. I've eaten their burgers, pork chops, pie, sausage, and the meals were very well cooked and homemade. I especially love their pie. The daily specials were always good. Today was very very bad, perhaps the waitress was overworked, I don't know. Or they might have a new cook. The waitress apologised while running off somewhere else. I didn't pay for the meal I didn't eat, so that's okay.

I heard from a few people that this place was great, I gave it a try a while back for breakfast and it was terrible! Decided to give it one more shot at lunch, not sure which meal was worse! This place has some of the worst food I've ever eaten, I definitely wouldn't recommend trying it and I definitely won't be back

Have been meaning to try this place for quite sometime. I know it has quite the cult following here, however I quickly discovered that I will not be a part of that following lol. Definately an experience atmosphere wise. I felt like I was back in the 80's. Service was ok, food was ok at best. If you like processed cheese then you may like the omelettes. Overall I prefer the Deerhead Cafe for a cheap eats/dingy diner vibe. Much better tasting.

We decide to go there yesterday for the turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Real turkey, real dressing etc., the food was amazing. Service was exceptional, wasn't busy and price also excellent. This may become an annual tradition

Took my gf here for the first time, she was a little sceptical at first but once she realized how good the food is she really enjoyed it. Got the omelet it was delicious

This is as authentic a truck stop diner as you are going to find - large portions, a not-to-exotic extensive menu, worn out formica countertops, reasonable prices, salt of the earth waitresses and a really varied clientele. I am sure at one time this diner was located on the wrong side of the tracks literally and figuratively, but with gentrification as it is, it is now not so bad. I have been here twice for dinner and ordered breakfast both times. Some of their dinner entrees look a little scary - mystery brown meat smothered in mystery brown gravy, but you can't usually go wrong with breakfast stuff. They have really good pancakes (but lousy syrup) and outstanding omelettes and hash browns. I had the chicken salsa omelette and couldn't believe how much chicken it was filled with. Despite our full bellies we had to try a slice of their pies. Both the lemon meringue and the banana cream are delicious and are fairly inexpensive. Not a bad place for a back-to-basics type meal.

Good service and shakes but poutine is terrible and burger lousy nobody got anything worth recommending

Conviniently open for 24/7, great place to hang out around the clock, no worries about parking lot, very fast service and super cheap.. the food we ordered was good, so much menus to choose from you can have breakfast all day , definetley will come back

I'm surprised that the Blackfoot Diner is even on Yelp! Despite the tacky factor, this is one of my favourite places in the city. I started going here probably 8 years ago as one of the few 24 hour coffee places in the city. I've spent MANY a night with an endless cup of coffee, listening to old country tunes from the jukebox and consuming a steady stream of comfort food. The decor is tacky-old-diner-chic, complete with an overdose of pink and a wall art with backlit 1950's movie stars. Look for the Furby in the train. You'll know what I mean if you've been there. The part that most of you won't know is that I know this place as "Edna's". Edna is the original owner - a feisty old woman who knows how to run her business. She's often in there, checking in on things. You have to respect the woman for continuing to run her business well into her eighties. Fave elements: -really cheap prices -24 hour kitchen & bottomless (decent) coffee -great service Fave foods: -beef dip - anything with gravy (best gravy in town) -greasy perogies -wide assortment of pies (love the Banana or Coconut Creme) This isn't someplace fancy, but if you're looking to go somewhere to chill out without judgement or if you're low on pennies, stop on in. A great choice for those of you working evening shifts (been there). See you at Edna's!

On to other 'firsts' experienced this weekend. After our golf game, the 4 of us (actually, allow me to clarify - the boys) decided to head over to the Blackfoot Truck Stop for breakfast. Since the ratio was 3 boys who wanted to eat at the truck stop vs. me, I bit my tongue and went along with it. When we first pulled up, I looked over at my friends and said "WHERE have you brought me?" At first glance, it's exactly that - a truck stop. Massive trucks parked everywhere, a lube shop across the street and mammoth-sized parking lot. But then you get inside and it's *awesome*. Talk about a scene out of a movie! You walk through the doorway and it's as though you've travelled back in time. it's just like one of those breakfast places you'd see on the big screen. Bikers/Truckers and all types of people crowded at various booths, perky waitresses, pink walls, a toy train that rotates along the ceiling, TVs so you can watch while you eat and cheap, cheap food! They serve pretty standard breakfast fare - omelettes, pancakes, etc. etc. I gotta be honest - I wasn't crazy about the food. It was what you would expect however, and it was super cheap. Each of us paid around $10 for breakfast and drinks and we all had an obscene amount of food left on our plates after all was said and done. I'm told this place has been around for DECADES. We actually met the owner and she was such a sweet woman! She personally thanked us for coming and rather than being the type of owner that just sits back and manages, she was actually the one working the register! Overall, a very interesting place. LOTS of character, LOTS of ambiance and LOTS of food. This definitely isn't the type of place you visit for the food, it's the type of place you visit for the experience!

Looking for a delicious breakfast in a laid back environment with a side of people watching? Prefer an atmosphere where you're either a hun or a dear? Bottomless cups of coffee and a breakfast dish that includes pork chops? Then The Blackfoot Truck Stop is perfect for you with prices to match and the decor is just busy enough that every visit is sure to reveal a new gem.

oh!!! so huge parking space!!!! but almost all slots look full. :P ... The restaurant inside it looks like a old model classic. The tables are like too old and has the elbow marks over it.. and also you could engrave your name on it to see it when you visit after 20 years :P ( just kidding).. The prices were reasonable but the food was pretty awesome... and the quantity was ample too... Not to forget , they charge per person 5$ during lunch and supper hours.. :) ... Service was a quick too.. But the waitress are not at all friendly.. Even one of my friend complemented the food and there was no response from the waitress :P Overall: Not a bad place to visit though,..

Without the Blackfoot Diner there would be many nights where I would have gone home drunk, hungry and alone. Thank goodness they're 24hrs. The menu is classic diner fare, burgers, fries, shakes, steaks, hot turkey sandwiches, all day breakfast and home made pies. Always check for the specials too. The waitresses are an always sweet bunch, decked out in pink scrubs and ready to take your order. If the model train isn't running when you come in, if you ask nicely they might turn it on for you. I've had many memorable meals here (though the circumstances that lead me to eating here at 3-4am shan't be mentioned) with friends and even family and everyone left happy. Who, after all, doesn't appreciate good, honest food at fair prices?

There's nothing I love more than a good and decent diner; and this place nails it. Real people, Johnny Cash & Hank Williams Sr. on the jukebox and waitresses that care and tend to your needs with a smile and a "hun"; there's no pretention here; only good food, good ole country music and a train the rolls around and around, high above your head. It's the perfect way to start your day, to cure what may ail ya, or if you're a truck driver; to grab a hot homestyle meal between stops. Open 24 hours a day and a Calgary establishment for over 50 years, I swear the walls are wishing the could tell their stories because I'm sure they'd have plenty to share. The Western Omellette is delicious and filling, their hashbrowns aren't deep fried; which makes them even better, and the bacon is cooked perfectly. Best part is everything is made fresh to order; the only bummer is the coffee. I found it weak and thin, but that's never going to stop me from going back again, and again and again and.....

I had a hard time deciding whether or not to give this review 3 or 4 stars...but ultimately, the service was so great and our experience here warranted 4 stars. I've driven by this place many times, but it wasn't until I read the Yelp reviews that I was interested in trying it out. It was late, we were hungry, and we didn't want fast food, so I was able to convince Josh to take us here. There were a surprising lack of truckers, but a few tables full at 9:45PM on a Friday night, mostly of regular people like us. Not nearly as sketchy as I imagined. It was everything I expected it to be...right down to the Pepto Bismol pink walls and kitschy decor. It was neat to look around and see all the pictures and memorabilia - the place felt authentic and the menu had something for everyone. What made our visit here was our waitress. She was amazing. Probably the nicest, coolest chick I've ever had for a server and she was great! I decided to play it safe and ordered Chicken Fingers and Fries, while Josh ordered the Trucker's Breakfast. We were entertained by the table beside us while waiting for our food, which came out quickly. The food was good, and both our tummies and our wallets were satisfied. Upon paying the bill, we left our server a pretty decent tip as she was just so darn nice. She was genuinely taken aback by this and looked shocked. What was pocket change to us meant a lot to her and that made the whole experience worth it. I'll definitely be back to this charming little diner for a burger and a milkshake - it might just be my new favorite late-night joint!

Worst hash browns I've ever had. People are deluded if they think the food is even remotely good. When I say hash browns I think, hashed/shredded and fried/browned potato's. Not 6 boiled potato's chopped into large chunks, unseasoned, white and soggy mess in a bowl that I was served. I went here for the charm but this place is operated like worst truck stop in America not a place you go for good food cheap. Seriously, shred and fry your hash browns no one likes boiled chunks of potato!

If you wake up with a hankering for greasy eggs and bacon, fat, fluffy pancakes, thin coffee you can drink for hours, and nostalgia pieces that still think they're contemporary because they're wholly functional , then this is the place for you. Nothing fancy but absolutely honest and filling. You are treated as a customer, hungry from the road and in need of sustenance, post-haste. The people are friendly but don't suck up. They know what you want and give you the opportunity to get it. You blend in because you're made to feel unexceptional. It's a liberating eating experience. There is no special parley required here; order and eat. For parents, the diner has a miniature train that runs around the upper-reaches of the diner. My boy loved it. The bathrooms are clean too, for what it's worth.

Unbelievable. Not the best pie I've had in my life but the award for that one goes to a Keylime pie at a five-star luxury hotel resort that I'm literally still fantasizing about 25 years later from the four seasons in Miami Palm Beach Florida. It shows how good the pie is that I'm still dreaming about it literally 25 years later. But this was a very close second and more importantly it happened only five minutes ago so I am still salivating it was absolutely delicious. This is a pie that looks like a lemon meringue but it's actually called flapper pie. I've never heard of flapper pie before but we just moved to Calgary from Toronto and this tourist magazine had a photo of this 8 inch tall flapper pie that I've been carrying around in my purse for six months so today I finally bit the bullet, it took two hours of dedicated driving through bumper to bumper rain rush-hour traffic which was miserable but believe or not it was worth it. I bought two pieces of flapper pie and one piece of coconut cream. It is far too underpriced I think everything came to $13 and I would've paid 30! This all just happened five minutes ago this is by far the fastest yelp review I've ever posted cause I want to make sure everybody knows, you should go to this restaurant for the pie!Now that I have read their full menu online I will definitely return for dinner as well! Congrats you guys I don't know how you made a pie with meringue this high and soooooooooo flavourful custard but you definitely know what you are doing and I so appreciate it PS If you are looking for a restaurant locally; Whatever you do, NEVER go to the Calgary restaurant The Guild. This is the place.... Hungover on a Sunday morning? Need something to make you feel better? Need coffee? Is it 3am and you need some flapper pie? Blackfoot trucks top is the place you wanna go. Is it fancy? No. Is it the best food in the city? No. But you are going to be made feel welcome, by the awesome staff. No matter what time day or night 365 days a year. (Jerry on the counter is one of the nicest people I've ever met). The staff are quick with coffee and always friendly. You're going to get consistent diner food. If you want eggs, toast, bacon or pancakes or a burger. this is for you. You're going to fill you boots and slip into a food coma on your way out the door. it even has a model train running around the place. What more could you ask for??

Half decent burgers. Great service. Worst pie ever served in the history of the world. Ordered three types and it was gut busting laughter. Incompetent kitchen and management who has no respect for their clients.
