Freshly baked small baked goods. The cinnamon roll IS PERFECT. Coffee was also pretty good, loved the light roast I enjoyed all pastries I tried (orange scone, blueberry scone, broccoli cheddar strata…et ) except the bread pudding- it wasn’t my taste. Slightly on the pricier end, but overall excellent quality and flavor

Google
Phenomenal cookies, pastries, and coffee. I ordered a small box of cookies, an iced vanilla latte, and a lemon blueberry scone. All of it was incredible, but the scone was my favorite! 🤤 There is plenty of street parking and it is located in a beautiful area. The atmosphere is also super cute, with adorable merchandise for sale as well. Highly recommend!

Google
I love Blackout! My favorite item to get here are the cinnamon rolls (some of the best cinnamon rolls I’ve ever had) but you truly can’t go wrong with anything in their pastry case. Their cookies are a great little treat and I love getting a box to gift to friends and family!

Google
Have been searching for a a really good cinnamon roll, these really did the job. I picked up a pack to bake at home and it was the best. Also picked up the Italian beef rolls to try and they are different but not bad at all my dad and BF really liked them.

Google
This place is amazing! They had free ice cream sandwiches made of tiny cookies today and they were fantastic and darling. Some of the best ice cream sandwiches I've ever had. I had the chocolate with the chocolate filling and I also had a beef roll that looked like an adorable cinnamon roll and tasted like the best Italian beef I've ever had and my kid had a everything bagel scone and they were equally impressed.

Google
I found this spot online randomly one day and was intrigued to try the Italian beef bun which comes paired with juice and uses Johnnie's Italian beef meat. (Big fan of Johnnie's beef) I also ordered the truffle cheese bun and ice coffee. Needless to say everything was 🔥, the coffee was strong and not bitter , the Italian beef bun tasted like Johnnie's beef in Cinnabon form and the truffle cheese had a hint of sweetness with a nice kick of truffle flavor. I will definitely be back because I loved the variety of flavors and options at this location a solid 10/10, the customer service was on point too which is a rarity nowadays.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Blackout Baking Co., and I must say, their cookies are nothing short of spectacular! Each cookie is a delightful masterpiece of flavor and texture. I tried a variety of their offerings, and each one was more delicious than the last. The cookies had the perfect balance of a crispy edge and a soft, gooey center that made them simply irresistible. The rich chocolate chip cookies were packed with premium chocolate chips, delivering that perfect melt-in-your-mouth experience. Their creativity and dedication to quality ingredients truly shine through with every bite. Not only were the cookies incredible, but the service was also top-notch. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to recommend their favorites, which truly added to the delightful experience.

Google
Put in an order for cookies to takeaway. The staff were super accommodating and even let me come in 15 minutes before opening to pick up. 5 star service and environment for sure. Aside from the great service, we were super disappointed by the highly advertised cookies. Got a box of the 12 variety pack mini cookies (chocolate, chocolate chip, passion fruit), and they literally tasted like cheap grocery store cookies. Grainy, dry, minimal flavor. Not good. (This is just a warning about cookies. We literally tried a bite of each cookie then pitched them...can't speak for the rest of their bakery items).

Yelp
Blackout Baking is available through UberEats! What a fun and quick option to send a "care package" to someone! My family loved the Pride-themed care package I sent them in June, with gorgeous rainbow cookies as well as special treats like a Johnnie's Beef breakfast roll. The Italian Beef roll was probably the biggest hit of all, what a fun surprise treat! They also enjoyed the cinnamon rolls, scones, and the cookies. Cookies were small, "one-bite" size, but they cut each into 4 pieces so everyone could sample each flavor. It was definitely a big hit. I haven't been to the shop but I hope to pop in soon to visit in person.

Yelp
This cute little bakery/coffee shop is right across the street from our hotel in Oak Park, so my sis and I decided to pop over to get coffee this (Sunday) morning. I got an eggnog latte -- which I don't see often after Starbucks stopped selling them -- so couldn't resist, plus a dirty chai for my teen daughter. My sister got a drip coffee. We both also got cheddar scallion cream scones and my sister got a broccoli cheddar strata. Plus I got a box of 24 (tiny) cookies. First, the negatives. My sis said the broccoli cheddar strata was just okay. She asked them to heat it up but it wasn't all that hot, but she thought it would be better if you took it home and heated it in the toaster/smart oven. In addition, DD's dirty chai was very watery, so I'm not sure what happened there. I tasted it myself and it was bad. She threw it away. The positives though are enough for 4 stars. The coffee and the eggnog latte were excellent. In fact, the eggnog latte was so good my daughter had me take her back there to get one for herself. The cheddar scone was incredible - again it was so good that my daughter got another one when we went back. I haven't tried a cookie yet, but both of my kids and my sis say they are also great. Plus the service was great, with very friendly employees. Overall, I highly recommend it. I would return the next time we are in town. UPDATE: Now that I've eaten some cookies, I had to come back and recommend the chocolate chip shortbread, the vanilla bean shortbread, and the peppermint sugar cookie. OMG, those flavors are so good. I wish I could go back and get more, but I've returned to my Indy suburb.

Yelp
Yes, just yes. I love everything I've ever had from here. The coffee is on point every time.

Yelp
Delicious cookies Blackout - the best Maple bourbon pecan - delicious Brown butter chocolate chip - just ok Sugar cookie - good They have cute gift box options. This would be a cute gift for someone!

Yelp
Omg, the cinnamon rolls were absolute heaven. Every single bite was so delicious. The coffee was awesome too

Jill D.

Yelp
Way too expensive!!! It comes down to $1 a cookie that is smaller than a Ritz cracker.
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place. The food is really tasty and the drinks are delicious. I look forward the the new drinks every month, too!
google avatar

Rachel E.

Yelp
I love Blackout Baking! The bakery items and cookies are delicious and make the perfect thoughtful gift. I also look forward to trying the new cookie of the month every month! The coffee is likewise delicious.

Yelp
A friend sent me an online gift for Blackout Baking. The gift was a free box of six assorted cookies. Upon entering I was entered by one of the staff members. Small shop but very cute and welcoming. There is a small outside patio for you to sit out and enjoy. Let me just say those cookies were soft and yummy. Every flavor that I ate was so good. I can't even tell you which one I enjoyed the most. Freshly baked and soft that it melts in your mouth. I ordered a small elder flower latte. I didn't like the earth flavor taste. This place is definitely a winner. I will be back to support this neighborhood business.

Yelp
First time visiting. Really solid flat white, could actually taste the coffee. Cheddar scallion scone was soft and fluffy with good flavor. Sticks to the "bite sized" mantra, the scone was a perfect three bites. Friendly service, nice music, blazing fast WiFi. Will be back to try some more bites and bevvies next time I'm in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Cute Coffee&Cookie shop. The Location: Steps from the train, on a cute street next to the park. The Space: Small but feels clean and trendy, there are some two person tables outside too, and who doesn't love sidewalk seating. The Coffee: If you've never had Iriving Farm coffee, you're missing out it's roasted to perfection and brews a great cup of coffee. Of course they have all the coffee shop options, lattes and mochas (made with ganache not just syrup) and a range of non-coffee options. The Treat: Tiny cookies! Had a PB Chocolate cookie and I'll say if it wasn't portion controlled already I would have eaten 1000of them, yummy! The rest of the treats look delicious as well and they're served the way french macrons are, delicate and you can mix and match and order one or a whole box. The Staff: Very nice. Meant the shop owner she seemed lovely. Overall 5 Star place for sure, if I lived here I'd be here every weekend.

Yelp
We took our niece out to the Blackout Baking, for an early bit to eat. We all had coffee and cookies, which was very good. The only thing that bothered me was. it is so small, tight on space. Service was great. I will probably stop again, but at an off time of day. So it was time to go, we went to my niece's mothers home for a surprise brunch. Very pleasant day. Peter K.

Yelp
It pains me to leave an unsavory review. From my experience I define Blackout Baking as a bakery that serves coffee. I don't always want bakery items, sometimes just a cup of coffee. I've been shamed more than once from the owner and staff, for my only cup of coffee purchase. The owner and staff can't seem to get it together with their dine in policy or hours of operation. When they first opened, it was pet friendly (not anymore, which is disappointing). I stopped in with my pup for a coffee and bakery item, my dog was greeted. I was offered the option to dine in or takeout. I never dined in before and on this day, dining in sounded great. I sat down, situated my pup and began enjoying my coffee and scone. The same employee who waited on me and greeted my dog shortly came over and mentioned pets are not allowed for dine in. I was shocked and embarrassed, why did you offer me the option, I asked. Well we like your pup, he's well behaved. Seriously, you can't have it both ways. On a recent trip I was not aware of the time and upon entering I was told they weren't open for another 10 minutes. They forget to re-lock the door when coming back inside from setting up the cafe tables. I offered to wait outside, they said no, it's ok. The owner was at the register. I ordered just a cup of coffee all the while complaining with a smile on her face that it happens all the time. If you're going to take my money why mention you're not technically open and then shame me into buying a bakery item? I'll take my business elsewhere.

Yelp
Really good coffee and pastries, but the downside is that they are very small, so you might want to get more than one item if this is breakfast for you. Nice ambiance, but it can be tightly packed and there aren't many spots to sit. Friendly staff! Close to the downtown shopping!

Yelp
I enjoy this shop every time I come. Their special seasonal lattes are always so thoughtfully curated and delicious. I challenge myself to try something from specials each time I come in. The cheddar scallion scone is so delicious (think red lobster biscuit) and their vanilla glazed scone is delicious as well.

Yelp
If you want cookies at 8am, this is your spot. The cookies and pastries are good but small, probably ideal for catering for a gathering. The coffee drinks are very sweet but very good. Good spot to grab a very decent coffee!

Kate W.

Yelp
Love everything about this bakery! Its seasonal coffee and cookie flavors are incredibly creative AND delicious. Customers are always greeted when walking in and the overall feel of the bakery is cute and cozy. It's truly a different feel from the other bakeries in Oak Park but definitely worth stopping in for.

Yelp
I can't figure out all of these great reviews! My first ever visit to Blackout was this morning, 9/26/22 around 8:45am. I ordered a 12 oz pumpkin spice latte. It's truly undrinkable. I poured it out when I got home! First sip gave me an immediate bad taste - room temp and way way over spiced. Yep, it's a pumpkin SPICE latte, I get it. But this was undrinkable. It must have had 4-6 pumps of the syrup for the 12oz? The "barista" never fired up the espresso machine... no steamed milk, no foam! Just cold whole milk poured into dark coffee...? Who does that and calls it a latte? A latte is actual espresso and hot steamed milk with foam. You can't just pour cold milk into espresso and call it a latte! It was room temp - like when you go to make a baby's bottle and you test it on your arm. Exactly that temperature. Just gross. Here's this thing -- if you're going to be known as a coffee shop/bakery, you can't *not* use an actual espresso machine... that's not as espresso!!!!!!!! If I'm paying $6.55 (7.55 total with a tip because I always tip) then I should get a real espresso -- finely ground coffee pushed through a fine filter at a specific pressure... not pre-made dark coffee with cold milk poured over it!! She never even asked me my milk preference. $7 bux is crazy expensive for a fake latte! Blackout is right by other bakeries and coffee shops -- Sugar Fixe and Spilt Milk, who both have amazing coffee, espressos, and a much wider variety of treats. How do they plan on staying open with product and customer service like this? I thought their food selection was really limited. Seemed to cater towards lunch treats and not so much breakfast. One type of muffin which was also pumpkin spice flavored. Tiny cookies, and two types of brownies. No coffee cake? What about different types of muffins? They had scones...which were also pumpkin spice flavored. Overall, super missed the mark. Try Spilt Milk or Sugar Fixe. You'll get an *actual* latte and more variety.

Yelp
Exceptional quality all around - Everything is delicious, the people are friendly, and I love that the portions allow for trying a few things each time.

Yelp
Friendliest staff- best bite sized treats. This place can't be beat! Love the staples and all the rotating items. And the vibe inside with the bright yellow espresso is spot on.

Yelp
I feel disappointed. First time in this place. Looked cute and interesting. I came for the deserts. They are beautiful to look at. Each cookie a perfect little circle. The brownies look like they were cut with a ruler. But so small. Are you for real? Bite sized cookies for 1 dollar each. 1 dollar a bite. Textures are Ok. But... The blackout brownie... was bland. And dry. How can you make a brownie that doesn't explode with chocolate flavor? That has so little chew texture? I felt like it needed ice cream... to hide the blandness. Not to help balance the chocolate. And I'm ok to pay $4 for a good, small brownie. But cutting it perfectly doesn't make up for not being a great brownie. The cookies were ok. And small. Sad to say the size and texture of the brown butter chocolate chips reminded me of old school Entemann's and weren't much more memorable. Shortbread is... ok. Chocolate chip shortbread is... fine. I just feel frustrated. I saved them all day to enjoy them now with coffee. And I only ate a few bites of the brownie. So this isn't a place to go for these deserts. Maybe it's the place you go to have a cup of coffee, and just buy one, small, $1 bite-sized cookie to go with your coffee. The coffee will allow you to see past the limitations of the cookies. I could see that working just fine. But then, the cookies are a bit overpriced for that. But they are beautiful. I'm glad I tried them.

Yelp
Cute place. Staff was helpful and nice. Cookies were great, but so small! $0.95 for a cookie that has a diameter of an inch and a half. I won't be going back because of the highly overpriced merchandise. Not worth it!
google avatar

Geoffrey P.

Yelp
Best Coffee in the area. Dog Friendly. The cookies... what... grab a dozen, you won't be disappointed. I wish they were open early and later every single day, but then I would be there way too much. Truly a really good coffee shop!
google avatar

Yelp
I literally just had the cacio e Pepe scone and oh my god was that phenomenal. I wish I had 4 more. One of the best scones I've ever had. Sticky buns and chocolate peanut butter brownie are decadent as always and the cookies are pretty good. But that scone... also the person who took my order was incredibly nice. One of my favorite places in Oak Park.
google avatar

Yvonne O.

Yelp
I love the monthly cookie subscription!!! Such delicious and unique flavors and hand delivered (if you are nearby) too! Made a fantastic Christmas gift for the kids to give their dad!
google avatar

Gabi S.

Yelp
These tiny cookies are the best idea ever. You get to try a variety of cookies without it being overwhelming or filling up on sweets too fast. I am newly obsessed with Blackout Bakery. That blackout cookie tho.. I can't get it off my mind. The flavor and consistency of these darn cookies is out of this world. The manager is also an amazing and sweet person too. Can't wait to be back at Blackout :)

Andrew L.

Yelp
Absolute heat cookies. Got a medium sized box and they were gone by the night. Blackout cookie is a like a perfect brownie in every bite with perfect amount of salt and the vanilla bean shortbread is fire. The sugar cookie was addictive. Highly recommend. Staff was super friendly as well.

Tiffany J.

Yelp
Loved coming here but FYI - no longer dog friendly. I used to carry out here with my dog in tow so it was a little disappointing being turned away today :( Still recommend giving them a try - the brownies and blackout mocha were so good!
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
Yummy cookies, good coffee, an industrial yet cozy little space. Give them a shot!
google avatar

Yelp
These might be some of the most delicious cookies I've ever had. I love the smaller size (so you can try more flavors and tell yourself it's ok to eat more of them, lol!) the brown butter toffee is apparently a seasonal flavor but it was incredible. And the blackout cookie was insanely good too. We will definitely be back!

Sparky M.

Yelp
I believe they call it blackout baking as they blacked out when it came time to read the instructions on how to offer edible products at a reasonable price. Hope they come to.

Angela N.

Yelp
I have loved Blackout Baking Co. since the very moment Shana started selling these little delicious cookies back in December 2017, years before the brick and mortar shop finally opened. The cookies are so soft and the flavors are so fun! I love trying the monthly flavors, but my all-time favorite flavors are the blackout cookie and the peppermint cookie at Christmas. It has become a Christmas tradition for me to bring these two flavors home for Christmas. The whole family loves them! It's been fun to watch this business grow and I look forward to all the fun flavors and treats for years to come!

Olive G.

Yelp
Literally the cutest bakery and the sweetest staff! I've ordered cookies from here twice and plan to continue to order from here. Had their snickerdoodle cookie of the month, and it was so good! Love supporting this small business.

Dan B.

Yelp
This is a nice cozy local coffee shop and bakery, the kind you want to have in your neighborhood. Stopped in with my wife and two young kids to check it out shortly after it opened this fall. The cookies are priced at about $1 each, but they are very, very small (like smaller than an Oreo). Good flavor and about ten varieties of cookies to choose from, but at that price point, we won't be coming back. Feels like a missed opportunity for them, given their location right by Mills Park and all of the kid traffic that they could attract.
