My friends and I had such a great experience at Blackwall Hitch! The service was excellent from start to finish, and the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. I especially want to compliment the manager, Rick, who went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. He was so accommodating with our casual attire, giving my friend a shirt, and made us feel completely at ease, which really added to the experience. Rick’s professionalism and kindness stood out, and it’s clear he truly cares about his guests. Highly recommend both the restaurant and the staff—thank you, Rick, for making our visit so enjoyable!

Upon arrival, Julien's energetic, polite, and accommodating greeting set a positive tone. Our server, Pete, provided exceptional service, demonstrating attentiveness, menu expertise, and professionalism. The food quality was outstanding, complemented by an excellent musical selection. We plan to return.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Blackwall Hitch thanks to our server, Pete. I had three boys with me and he was great. From the moment we sat down, he was attentive, personable, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Pete had the perfect balance of professionalism and warmth—offering great recommendations without pressure and checking in just the right amount. His thoughtful service added so much to our night, and you could tell he truly cares about the guest experience. If you’re headed to Blackwall Hitch, ask for Pete!

I went with a party of 10 and the service was great. There was some dirty silverware left on the table but they took care of it immediately. The drinks are pricey for the small amount you get but the lavender 75 was delicious. I ordered the stuffed rockfish 10/10 going back to get it again. My friend ordered the scallop & shrimp risotto and it was okay. The risotto kind of tasted like box yellow rice but the seafood was cooked perfectly 6/10.

Had a great experience at Blackwall Hitch in Annapolis. We stopped in for drinks and dessert, ordered a Manhattan and a cold glass of Stella, and both were perfectly made. The highlight was definitely the red velvet cheesecake. It was rich, smooth, and just the right amount of sweetness. Great atmosphere and friendly service made it even better. Olivia, our bartender, was quick, fun, and friendly she really made the experience even better. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

I’ve always been a fan of blackwall hitch but Sunday buffet is a must!!! Such a great set up and super tasty. There was always someone refilling the oysters and shrimps. Omelet station has it all… even crab! Yes! Yes! Yes! If you have a sweet tooth they got you covered there with a fondue station and a lot of sweet pastries. One downfall is the price but for me it was worth it! 20% Gratuity was added to our bill but not sure if that was because we had a table of six.

I had been wanting to take my mother-in-law out to a quaint museum followed by nice brunch, and for anybody who has the same idea, I can't recommend this place place enough after a visit to the Maritime Museum. This brunch is an absolute steal, in terms of value. Even though we came in the last 45 minutes, the quality was still there and they weren't picked over at all. All of the steam trays were still hot and fresh as well, and the carving station always had someone to help me- I came back for more carvery several times. I have family members with arfid, so I have to mention sensory-friendly options. They have a very reasonable choice of plain breakfasty mains. Waffles and French toast that you could just not put toppings on, an omelette station where you can choose exactly what you want to put or not put in your omelette, that sort of thing. So cute, too! And at the time we went, there was no weight at all ever for anything

Great Sunday brunch. Lemon butter salmon was excellent and the chocolate, no flour tart was a highlight. Our server Jayden was cheerful, helpful and made sure we had a good experience.

Yelp
i stopped by and the food Pete recommended was fantastic!! Very polite service! The ambiance of the place is perfect, feels just fancy enough for a date but isn't too fancy for a nice family friendly night.

Yelp
Amazing server, Alaina is the best! Food was delicious! 10 stars, would recommend. Great menu selections and comfy decor.

Yelp
This was our first visit and we were greatly impressed. Ricky made us feel welcome and was patient in helping us understand some of the menu items. The French Onion Soup was one of the best we've had in this area (but I just wish that someone other than Petit Louis in Baltimore would figure out how to keep the bread crispy-mushy bread is such a turn off and almost every place is like this...) The broth had wonderful depth of flavor, the onions were nicely caramelized and the cheese was top quality. The Red Brick Chicken entree was delicious with a lovely sauce. The skin was crispy and the meat juicy. The potatoes were perfectly cooked but the sprouts were hard. Ricky said that next time they will get them fork tender to my preference. Hubby had the Braised Short Rib Pasta and it was heaven in a bowl-truly one of our favorite dishes in town (what we call a destination dish) I did not leave room for the house made Bread Pudding but I will plan on that for next time. I took a slice of Key Lime Pie home and it was very good. Another reviewer complained about the loud music and that is a huge consideration for us as well. We will not frequent places that do this and we have given up on some restaurants just because of that issue (hello Firebirds) But we are happy to say that the music was at a reasonable volume. We'll be happily returning soon!

Yelp
We've been to Blackwall Hitch before and had great service, but this last visit was a disaster. We walked in to find eight people behind the bar, all engaged in what must've been a thrilling group therapy session, because not a single one looked our way for 15 minutes. No menus, no water, no "we'll be right with you"--just straight-up apathy. When someone finally took our appetizer order, we got six oysters and a cappuccino that came sweetened with what I can only assume was a squeeze bottle of Hershey's syrup (which we definitely didn't ask for). We never send anything back, but it was awful. And we still got charged for it even after we returned it. Iconic. We spent over an hour there, were never offered another drink or even checked on. Honestly, we weren't even sure who was our bartender--maybe all of them? Maybe none? We finally left to get dinner somewhere that doesn't treat customers like background noise. Service has gone way downhill. Skip it.

Yelp
Came here for a graduation dinner with a group of 20 on Saturday around 2pm. We had a private room with preset menu options. The atmosphere is a balance of relaxed yet upscale. The decor was warm and inviting. This restaurant is perfect for Whether for a casual meal or a special night out, the ambiance fits perfectly for both. The menu offers a good variety of different food options for everyone even for kids. The service was also really good, the wait staff were very pleasant, attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. I had the Maryland crab soup for my first course which was my least favorite. I expected it to be more crab based and flavor but tomato broth dominated the soup instead. Entree, I had the creole rigatoni which was delicious 9/10. The sauce was great and everything was perfectly seasoned. The portion size was good and the meal filing, Dessert, I had the cheesecake which was very mid. Could have done without it. Drink, I had the lavender French 75, which was delicious and I highly recommend. Parking: there is a free parking lot located behind the restaurant.

Yelp
Meh. The ambience and the outdoor deck aren't nice. The food and the service were only OK. Solid, bur there are better places.

Yelp
I recently visited Blackwall Hitch for brunch with a friend on her birthday. We went on a Sunday morning when the restaurant first opened at 10:00 am. We were one of the first ones to arrive. What we didn't realize is that you needed a reservation for Sunday brunch. Luckily, they were able to accommodate us with a table in the bar area which also happened to be where all the food was set up. Score! I guess for some, that may not be the most ideal seating because there could potentially be a lot of commotion in the area when people are getting their food. We were perfectly fine. Once we were seated, a server came by to ask if we wanted any other drinks besides water and then we were free to go grab food. The brunch at Blackwall Hitch is set up buffet style. They have a great spread, including an omelet station and carving station. Waffles were also freshly made. They had all the breakfast goods, including grits, bacon, french toast, and breakfast potatoes. They also had a fish of the day and a cold seafood display. There was a chocolate fountain and a nice dessert display as well. Sadly, I was too full for any dessert or pastries as I went for all the food. A diner at a table next to us raved about their blueberry muffins. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Blackwall Hitch. This is actually a place that was on my "to try" list when I was living in Maryland. I'm glad I finally got the chance to check it out.

Yelp
This place was pretty good. It's not directly in downtown Annapolis, which makes it great for not being stuck in traffic. They do have ample parking and it's on the corner of a street. The best part about this location is the venue both downstairs and upstairs. We decided to do rooftop dining. The rooftop is a little tight and you do have to walk up a flight of stairs to get to the rooftop, but it's quaint and in the summertime shaded and in the fall, still protected from the elements. The wait staff was a little bit slower than if you ate downstairs. However, they were very accommodating and apologetic when we needed to wait for our drinks to come. We ordered a Caesar salad, which was great dressing wasn't too heavy. And we ordered calamari and wings. The espresso martini was pretty good. It's more on the dark side than the creamy side. And the prices were great for being a place that serves both bar food but also entrées that fill you up. If you are looking for a great place to hang out with nice company where everybody is friendly this local Restaurant is a great place to get your feet wet in downtown Annapolis.

Yelp
I went on a date yesterday to Blackwall Hitch in Annapolis. Last time I visited this location was maybe 4-5 yrs ago. This location is beautiful on the inside, aesthetically pleasing and clean. Our server was Jayden. He was very personable and attentive. He took great care of us and explained the whole menu over with his recommendations. We went with four of his recommendations and they did not disappoint. The lavender French 75 was so refreshing and I love butterfly Pea so I was excited to try. One of his other recommendations was the crab dip for an appetizer and crab stuffed rockfish for dinner. They both were amazing. One comment on the rockfish, I feel like it was a tad overcooked. I also replaced the rice & corn with their Brussels sprouts. It was soooo amazing! The Brussels sprouts at Blackwall still remain some of the best I ever had. The sauce they come in is so good! For dessert, we both had the cookie dough espresso martinis Jayden also recommended. They were surprisingly good. I def got the hints after each sip. I throughly enjoyed my time at Blackwall. I can't wait to dine again. It will definitely be sooner than years later this go around.

Yelp
Great place to eat. Previously I had only tried their brunch and a few other times I cannot remember when they first opened up. Complete 180 from their initial menu at their Gambrills location and it is indeed working. A few positives at this place include easy parking, high chairs and booster seats, friendly service and ample space. We ran it up pretty good here...came out with a $300 bill but we indeed had a party of 5.5 and everyone was satisfied so I didn't feel as bad about swiping my card. Few notes to consider...the kids meals do not come with drinks...the calamari appetizer can be shared with 4....the side house salad is indeed enough for 2 individuals. If you have kids....3pm on Sunday was relatively low traffic. Liam our server did a the best he could with our group. Everyone really enjoyed there meal and we look forward to returning indeed.

Yelp
Yes, yes, yes! Arrived on a Tuesday afternoon about 2 PM and we were seated immediately. They have dining room, bar and roof outdoor seating. It was way too hot to sit on the roof. Love the nautical decor. It is tastefully done. Lots of options on the menu and I opted for the mahi-mahi tacos with plantain chips. Very tasty. Nice balance of flavors and a great cook on the fish. Service was excellent. I will definitely be back.

Kasmera D.

Yelp
Today our servers were Libby and Simone they were excellent and the food was terrific! We keep coming back and have had a great experience each time.

Yelp
Nice location close to downtown along with easy parking. Bar area was nice and separated from the main dinning area. Check out the second floor as an option if open.

Yelp
I recently went to Blackwall in Annapolis for a solo thanksgiving meal this year. This was my first visit bit it won't be my last. My server, Jenna, was amazing and explained the buffet style setup and was great with suggestions for drinks. Very attentive and sweet. There was a variety of options including carving stations for turkey, prime rib, and ham. I tried a bit from every station. While all the options were tasty, I got seconds of the prime rib and mashed potatoes. They also f had a variety of Thanksgiving sides so something for everyone. The manager stopped by to check on all guests. The music created such a relaxing ambiance. For drinks, I got a very strong winter spice old fashioned and their house cab which was very smooth. I can't wait to come back to try their regular menu!

Yelp
I wish I knew the servers name cause she was the best. It was late on a weeknight and we were a party of about 10, but the service was amazing and food was good too. To start, the crab dip is a must. Maryland style, absolutely delicious. The brussels sprouts were great too -- the pancetta really makes it. The French onion soup was also a favorite of mine! I wasn't super hungry after apps, so ended up ordering a salad which was just standard. The drink list is nice as well. Definitely a great spot if you have a large party.

Yelp
Wow! What a great experience we had last night at Blackwall Hitch in Annapolis! We are from Delaware and often visit the Rehoboth Beach so we knew of their great reputation. Annapolis did not disappoint! *They have a large parking lot (big deal for us - we hate searching for parking). *We were warmly greeted by Julian at the Host station - super friendly dude! *The restaurant is beautiful! Well decorated and spacious! *Our server - Jayden - was AMAZING! I'm going to tell you how amazing... He carefully went through the menu with us after we told him my hubby has a dairy issue. He was super friendly, attentive and funny... we really enjoyed talking with him. **We had such a great experience last night - that before we left we booked again to bring our extended family back tonight! (And we requested Jayden as our server)!

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Saturday, and enjoyed the food and ambiance so much we came back for happy hour later in the week. Everything we ate was great. I especially enjoyed the Brussel sprouts and filet. Service was excellent both times, and we even got to enjoy some live music the second time. Definitely a new favorite happy hour spot

Yelp
Ruby was a great server who had excellent recommendations. We ordered the calamari, Fish tacos, southwest and Caesar salads... all were enjoyed/good.

Yelp
My husband, my friends, & I have enjoyed Blackwall Hitch for brunch and dinner. This afternoon, my retired women's group wanted a location for a Back to School happy hour. We chose BH because of the location, parking, and the happy hour specials. I emailed management a couple of times so they would know our group was coming. Since we were meeting in the bar, at 4 pm on a Monday, with a variable number, we did not need a reservation. A wonderful young man named Nico was working the bar when I arrived. He helped by pulling some tables together to set up for our group, away from the main bar counter. There is lots of space there, with high top tables, a sofa and some chairs, for flexible seating. Our attendance exceeded expectations on a rainy Monday, and we had about 20 women who showed up. Nico kept all of the food and drink orders straight, and he did it all with a smile. He deserves a commendation. We had a great time.

Yelp
It was a great experience with excellent service. I got the crab stuffed rockfish and that tasted amazing. My waiter (Pete) was attentive and gave excellent recommendations and service. The Manger (Rick) also stopped by and was very nice and pleasant to talk with. Overall it was a great night and I enjoyed the food, service, and setting!

Yelp
It was my last stop while in town, and it was a great way to end my trip. The food and the ambiance were great. Our service was a little slow, but it was after the lunch rush. We had French onion soup, fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, crab-stuffed rockfish, and seafood flatbread. The portions were generous, and we did not leave hungry. The dishes were crafted with care and seasoned just right.

Blake P.

Yelp
Food was crazy good. The New York strip had a sauce on it, I'm not one for sauce on my steak but this was killer. So good, short rib pasta was also very flavorful. If you are in the area gotta check it out it's the best

Yelp
It's been awhile since I had brunch at Blackwall, but they have brought back the brunch buffet. My wife and I totally loved it. The quality of each and every item was superb. Just to name a few of the things we put on our plate: thick-sliced flavorful bacon, roast beef that was tender and juicy, and even the fried chicken was cooked to perfection. We sampled a lot more and it was ALL so delicious and top-notch. The manager came by to check on us a couple of times. Our server, Porschae, was very friendly and attentive. BH is definitely one of the best places to go eat and drink.

Yelp
I had dinner with some girlfriends last night here even though it was not my pick. My last experience a couple of years ago was not great and that opinion has not changed. In general, the food was just ok. I had a chicken dish that was desribed as being served over crispy brussel sprouts. There was nothing crispy about the brussel sprouts being that they were underdone and hard. The waiter said the catch of the day was shrimp pot pie-not sure how that qualifies as a "catch of the day". BUT the most frustrating and annoying thing was the size of the drinks- I ordered a sol old fashioned and my friend a glass of wine. The pour of the wine was the size of a tasting pour. My drink was so small, I questioned if this was the whole drink, it was. For $16 it would have been nice to have a whole glass of drink. Pictures show the teeny drinks. I will not be going back as there are soo many other very good choices in Annapolis.

Yelp
I booked a reservation to the location a week or so in advance. The process was easy and efficient. Unfortunately, outside seating was first come first served which is a bummer considering COVID is still with us. But I said no problem, I'll call before hand and see. Unfortunately, it was raining on the day we had a reservation so we decided to make this a takeout order. Im glad we did that because due to the rain, the wedding reception on the roof got moved inside so they were actually telling people in person that they had to leave by 3:15 pm. I called around noon to cancel the reservation and make the takeout order but you would think that they would have let people with reservations around that time know that they would have to leave by 3:15. I would've been completely blindsided had I not called ahead of time. Parking was seamless. So thats great. When I arrived, I asked for my to-go order. The manager seemed very displeased with the host at the counter in a way that I don't think customers should see. It kind of spilled out to how the manager interacted with me. Now if this was fast food or fast casual, I wouldn't have minded but this restaurant is not any of those things. I ordered the kale and salmon salad with modifications. My guests ordered the Black pepper tagliatelle, creole rigatoni, and Red velvet cheesecake (not pictured). The salmon was pretty phenomenal, crispy but also juicy. However, as you can see from the picture, they gave me a handful of lettuce. So your depth perception is not off. You are seeing the bottom of the container it was as much lettuce as a garnish quite frankly. The dressing was more sweet than acidic. The salad was good but I had to add more lettuce at home. How do I get more lettuce at Chopt!? However, portion size wise, they're in their bag with the pasta. The containers were heavy and my guests would absolutely recommend their dishes. For me, I was hungry again in 2 hours.

Yelp
Went here for a late dinner with my sister. I have never been, but she has. The atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming. I came in and explained that I was meeting someone and a hostess, walked me to the dining area, and helped me spot them out. Once seated, a waiter came with water since my sister was already there. The noise level was average, not too loud and not too low, but you can still hear yourself speak. For food we got: Starters Carb dip Entree Crab cake sandwich Blackwell sandwich Drinks Water Honestly, the crab dip was great, and yes, they do set it on fire right in front of you. I would come back to this location just because of the laid-back atmosphere it had. Plus, they have free parking right behind for people coming to eat there.

Kaitlin M.

Yelp
Wonderful experience! Food was phenomenal! Definitely recommend the braised beef short rib! Our server, Taylor, was so knowledgeable and made our first time here a great experience! The ambience was perfect for our 10 year wedding anniversary. My husband and I were even treated to a complementary glass of champagne at the end of our meal to celebrate our anniversary. We will definitely be returning!

Yelp

Yelp
Always a good time at BlackWall Hitch. The food is consistently yummy and fresh. Servers are attentive and responsive. Been here twice in the last couple of months for the brunch menu and lunch dining experience. Both have great choices for your tastebuds. Would highly recommend also as it is close to the Annapolis harbor and sights.

Yelp
Despite there being a wedding reception, we were able to make a quick online reservation and get seated within a hour. It was a little loud due to the wedding, but overall the restaurant looked nice. Plus the servers were super helpful and nice. Their crab soup was awesome, and the pasta I got was delicious. The desserts (the table got two) were the only disappointment. The best part was their seasonal mixed drinks--amazing flavour!

Audrey S.

Yelp
Food was amazing, the espresso martini was delicious and the service was top tier. Very attentive staff and good ambiance.

Yelp
Cocktails were sweet but tasty. The cocktail menu covered all the basic spirits with creative syrups. We had the Chesapeake oysters - they were wonderful! Shared the short ribs pasta - outstanding flavor and quite the comfort food - very large dish, perfect for sharing. Also added a side of Brussels sprouts - I was happy they were not too greasy or too sweet. Nice atmosphere, not too just and friendly service.

Yelp
Had a fantastic Sunday brunch with great service and even better food. The meat and oysters were amazing.

Yelp
Wifey and stopped in at this spot on our way back in town from a Basketball game all the way in Wicomico County.. That's another story for a different platform form..I digress. Basically, we tried a variety a of options from the menu as we usually do. And based on the recommendations from Yelp one of the hot items to try is the "Flaming Dip".. Well this night we couldn't get the dip to flame.. Not sure if it was the waitress, the lighter, or the oil they use to layer the dip ignited or hold the flame.. Either way after she took it back in the back, brung back out again we was like let us just eat it because by this time you're going have to cook all over.. I must admit it was slightly hilarious now that I think about it. I mean they were nice about it though.. Let just some it up by saying nothing we ate that night was above average. Meaning as my teenagers say, it was all mid! However, the band selection for the live music that night was a welcoming vibe.. I gotta sure my fellow musicians some love. I think the name is "All You Need" So based on that and my sweet chili garlic chicken wings I could stop back in and give them another shot. After all, I'm pretty much reasonable. So, I think that's a fair try.

Yelp
What a serious disappointment food-wise. Was taken to this restaurant by a friend to celebrate a birthday. Server Shelby was attentive and a prime example of a great wait person. The restaurant is traditionally appealing and attractive. Not sure why I thought, in Annapolis, near the water would equal fresh seafood. Ordered the oyster appetizer with sweet potato purée and the first oyster was so cloyingly salty, it was inedible. Ordered what I imagined would be a fresh tender and moist broiled rockfish stuffed with fresh crabmeat. I asked if the rockfish was fresh and in season before ordering and was told it was. What arrived was not fresh nor like any rockfish I have ever encountered. It seems like a rolled up piece of overcooked (broiled dry) likely previously frozen flounder, maybe. It was flavorless and dry; and, there was not a single piece of crab meat in the "crabmeat stuffing." It was all bread that reminded me of stove top stuffing. Given I was the guest at this dinner, despite being very disappointed, I didn't send it back. The restaurant should be ashamed to serve this. My friend asked for crispy Brussels spouts in place of the asparagus that came w the swordfish special. The Brussels were not at all crispy. For dessert we were told there was a lemon Smith Island cake available. The only thing lemon my friend and I experienced about it was the color. It was dry and blah. The warm rolls and herbed butter were the best item of the evening. Could have easily eaten a basket of them. I would neither recommend this restaurant for seafood nor will I return.

Yelp
Had a great event here. The reserved room was set up on time and GM was very accommodating, allowed us to start decorating the place early. This restaurant is definitely very beautiful with cozy atmosphere and very popular for a large group gatherings. However, when the food started to come out, that's when I was a bit disappointed . Charcuterie board from meat to cheese was good however the sticks they used to pinch the meat together, had a good amount of splinters on the outside of the meat , luckily we didn't have any super young kids otherwise they will not be safe for them to eat. When the entrées started to come out , I tried all the dishes we had on the set course menu, overall the taste of the food was a little bit too salty, including the Maryland crab soup. So definitely not impressed by the quality of the dishes. The service was very attentive, and OnPoint from beginning to the end . And plenty parking was the parking lot in the back.

Yelp
Food was varied and delicious. Staff was courteous and prompt without hovering. The restaurant was crowded on Christmas Eve, so our time was limited; however, we were asked to leave in a professional and courteous fashion.

Yelp
Great service! Our server Peter was amazing. The atmosphere is incredibly balanced, not too quiet but not too loud. It's just a fun place to be every time we visit. The food is always great and the quality is consistent every time we eat here. Definitely one of the top restaurants in Annapolis and one of our favorites anywhere.
