A must do trip! We did a two day self guided kayak trip on the Cheat River. BOA rented us kayaks and provided us with detailed information about the river and where to camp, and even gave us free bottles of water. We put in at their shop, and enjoyed a 9 mile gentle float down the beautiful river. Solitude and wildlife were abundant. Best of all, we felt completely prepared by BOA despite it being our first kayaking trip in a few years. In the early evening we arrived at the Seven Islands, which is a chain of small, campable islands. You simply pick an island, which you will likely have to yourself for the night. The next day, we paddled 10 more miles to Riveview Lounge, where BOA was waiting for us to load up our kayaks and shuttle us back to our car. We were particularly impressed with their COVID-19 protocol; they sanitized every boat prior to use, they provided disposable masks to us, and their storefront was completely no-contact. Overall, this was an amazing trip through a gorgeous section of the Cheat River, and BOA made it all possible.
We highly recommend doing a two day trip so you can camp on the Seven Islands, for more info check out the Cheat River Water Trail: https://cheatriverwatertrail.org
