Spotlight on Ireland's County Cork

"Charming 18th century barn and hayloft, just a stone's throw from the sea, with fantastic panoramic views, pretty gardens, a courtyard and a lily pond. Stylish bar and stone-walled, candlelit dining room. Starters and desserts are in buffet format, while the seasonal main courses are cooked on a wood-fired chargrill. Luxurious, modern bedrooms are dotted about the place." - The MICHELIN Guide Nordic Editorial Team

A Hidden Gem for Vegans in West Cork We stopped into Blair’s Cove yesterday without a booking, and were so grateful they managed to fit us in. From the very start, the whole experience felt special. The staff were incredibly professional but also warm and relaxed. Everything flowed so smoothly—it was like watching a beautifully choreographed dance. As a vegan, eating out while on holiday in places like West Cork can be stressful. It often feels like vegans are overlooked completely, or given something bland as an afterthought. But Blair’s Cove was the total opposite. They really took care, and I felt genuinely included. The vegan food was not just “good for a vegan option”—it was full-on delicious, thoughtful, and deeply satisfying. Hands down the best meal I’ve had in the area. The live piano music was another lovely touch—just the right level and beautifully played. It gave the whole evening an elegant, laid-back vibe that made us want to stay all night. As a vegan chef, I make a point of trying other local spots even when the vegan choices are limited—but this was on another level. Blair’s Cove showed that it’s absolutely possible to cater for everyone with style and flavour. If you’re plant-based (or dining with someone who is), don’t hesitate. This place gets it right. Massive thumbs up from me—we’ll definitely be back! Nicola Smyth

I absolutely loved my self-catering stay here. The accommodation has a quirky charm that makes it truly unique. Mornings start perfectly with breakfast delivered right to your door, and there's a fantastic restaurant just across the courtyard for when you want to dine out. The small but well-equipped kitchen is ideal for self-catering, giving you great flexibility. All of this is set in a stunning location overlooking the bay — a truly beautiful and peaceful setting.

We held both our ceremony and reception at Blairscove House, and we couldn’t have chosen a more perfect venue. From the moment we first visited, it ticked every single box – and then some. What stood out initially was the aesthetic: a unique blend of modern and traditional design, with a relaxed, quirky, yet incredibly tasteful feel. Unlike many other venues we viewed, both the interior and exterior spaces were stunning – no compromises needed. Its location on Dunmanus Bay is breathtaking (granted, we only ever seemed to visit on sunny days!), and the roaming cats and dogs completely stole our hearts. Key decision-makers for us also included Blairscove’s stellar reputation for food, and the incredible owners, Ann and Woody – the perfect combination of kind, organised, flexible, and totally reliable. They were consistently responsive, available to answer all our many questions, and left no room for doubt about any part of the planning. Their transparency around pricing and flexibility with the schedule and setup made a big difference, especially as we were planning from outside the area. Ann also offered great local vendor recommendations, which we really appreciated. On the day itself, we were lucky with glorious weather. Our ceremony was held in the beautiful marquee, followed by cocktails in the sunshine. We’d brought a few decorations and cakes, and the Blairscove team arranged and displayed everything beautifully. But the real standout? The food. Our guests are still talking about it! The starter and dessert buffets were overflowing with variety – delicious, creative, and plentiful (we spotted more than a few precariously stacked plates). It was easily the best wedding food we’ve ever had – and our guests clearly felt the same. We also stayed in the on-site accommodation that night, which was beautifully styled and so comfortable. The thoughtful gift of champagne and a card was such a lovely surprise, and the breakfast the next morning was exactly what we needed after all the celebrations. Blairscove House gave us peace of mind, a stunning setting, flawless food, and a relaxed yet professional experience from start to finish. We would recommend it without hesitation – especially to couples planning a smaller, more personal wedding (we had 75 guests, and it was the perfect fit). Truly a magical place.
