I was so excited to write a great review for this place I visited during a LARGE gathering for a special event. The food was fantastic. I did have to get up to ask for more soft drink while the server was just hanging over a chair talking to, I presume, another worker. As a server for over 30 years, I fully expected a gratuity to be added to the large table. I did not expect the terrible attitude from the wild, somewhat curly grey haired, shorter, lady who we never saw until the end. We did not get a bill to review. We were not told to go to the front to check out. (We are from out of town.) When we did go to the front and advise of what we had, and given our bill total, we were told that the tip was already included and asked is that OK. I always tip cash and I always tip well, being service industry. However, when a GRATUITY is added to a table over six, it should AUTOMATICALLY be 15%. and it should be calculated before tax. Without a receipt, I could not tell what was done at all. When I asked what percent THEY added to our bill, we were told 20%. I would have tipped more...but that is not the point. The point was that it was a large group and they were being shady about it. They were NOT TRANSPARENT and when asked if it was ok, my response was clear that it was not...
I felt as if they were taking advantage of a large group of people when they should be glad to have new visitors in town. I simply said that it is customary to start with 15% rather than the 20%. And was told rather nasty that it was policy. I asked who made that policy, and I was told THE CREDIT CARD COMPANY (rather snippy and sassily) while I was holding a handful of cash to pay with. This obviously was questionable, so I said, " ma'am I am paying cash & I don't need your attitude, I need resolution". Then she said she didn't care. At which point I told I only asked a legit question and felt as though they were being very rude and shady about the whole thing. Rather than resolving the issue, she made it much worse by continuing to be nasty, rude, and mocking with sinister chuckles. I told her, "keep laughing, I'll be leaving a detailed review that the owners won't find so funny" she proceeded to tell me that I need to leave and am not to come back. At which point I called her a B and told her I didn't plan on it. I know my hair is silver/blue but my blood runs red. I did not APPEAR to fit the clientele standard of what their small town was used to and because I stood up for myself, I was treated like crap so I gladly returned the energy. I made sure to say "see you next tuesday" while walking out, never to return. If you are a good ol boy, you will fit right in, however if you come from a good ol boy and don't look the part, you will be met with rudeness and utter disrespect. Way to make everyone feel welcome! May karma find you whoever you are rude lady, and may she be a bigger B that you were to me! Have the day you deserve! I still gave 3 stars because I know that the establishment wasn't the problem, the employee IS.
