16 Best Swimming Holes in the U.S.

"You'll find two swimming areas at the Blanchard Springs Recreation Area in the scenic Ozark National Forest, both of which are fed by the waters of North Sylamore Creek. The main swimming area provides a wider and more shallow swimming experience, as well as bathhouses and a small pavilion. The second swimming area sits adjacent to the campgrounds and can reach depths of up to 12 feet with a bluff line that runs through it. There are no lifeguards on duty, so swim at your own risk." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Had a fantastic time at Blanchard Springs. We toured the cave with a group of very well-behaved home schooled kids and had a blast. We checked out Mirror Lake and the Springs as well. We were told the lake is usually clearer, but there had been a lot of rain. Very relaxing to stroll next to the water. Well taken care of. Beautiful place to visit!

Blanchard Springs is such a pretty place, we are so blessed to live in this area where there is abundant clear water and beautiful green trees…abundant flora and fauna. ❤️ I definitely recommend coming to this area and taking it all in. The pictures don’t do it justice. You’ll so enjoy it!

A great place to go if you want to see a natural spring without the harsh walking trail. This is a super short walk with a built in walkway all the way to the spring. Mirror lake waterfall is a small but beautiful fall as well. Overall if your in the area or want a good place to camp this area is near everything you could want for camping

This is by far one of the best cave systems in all of the Midwest. The rooms in these calves are massive.

Great time with our family hiking around Mirror Lake. I think mermaids live in this water. It's so beautiful. We also loved the natural playground at Blanchard Springs. We went in early April. I have a feeling that it's beautiful during the color change in autumn.
