A North Side roadhouse with live music, oak‑and‑pecan smoke, and big picnic packs perfect for nearby Hardberger Park. Highlighted by MySA roundups, it’s a relaxed setting to share ribs and sides with a crowd.

Google
Some of the best barbecue in San Antonio. Unfortunate how poor most places in San Antonio are, but glad to find a decent place. The staff are friendly, the food is good, big cups for drinks which I like. Plenty of parking which is good as there is a lot of seating for dining between the large indoor dining area, front covered patio and large back patio. Definitely plan to return and will take friends when they visit. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere/decor is nice.

Google
Brisket was pretty tough and dry, basically no bend to it. Mac and cheese could have a little more heft to it. Cream corn was spectacular. Service was quick and the people were wonderful and personable. Had good conversation with both employees I interacted with. Definitely lots of potential, but meat could be better for sure. Investing in a cooking method that keeps moisture would be worthwhile. Will keep supporting since it's a cute, local spot, but definitely would like to see an increase in meat quality. AC was weak but I'm sure that's temporary, won't mark off a star for that.

Google
This was a great choice. It was about a 20 minute drive from downtown, but the food was worth it. Huge portions and the taste was amazing. If you are debating trying it, try it.

Google
I got the Greek salad and my son got the pulled pork plate. The salad was very tasty and big enough for two! My son liked his meal. The environment is like a rustic bbq joint. It’s nice.

Google
I had the 2 meat combo with broccoli and potato salad, and my boyfriend ordered the 5 meat combo, which rancho beans and mashed potatoes. Everything was so tasty, a great family environment, and also the live music is a plus. They have a condiment salad station and a good selection of desserts.

Google
This restaurant's food is insanely delicious! The brisket and chicken is cooked to perfection, love the sausage and turkey as well! The Mac-n-cheese, cream corn, and BBQ sauce are one of our favorite sides. The decor and dining areas of the place is very cozy and down to earth! There is plenty of seating, slightly close together, but overall really clean! The staff are really welcoming and kind!

Google
Great atmosphere and fast service! Stopped in for lunch and grabbed a chef salad with BBQ chicken and sweet tea. Food was ready in less than 10 minutes during lunch rush hour. Kudos to their staff! Tables were turned over quick and very clean for the next person to eat. Salad was huge with and fresh. Always a great visit!

Google
Everything you want from traditional Texas BBQ. From the smell of smoke when you walk in the door, to the all-wood interior, to the local spirit (literally a school trip on the outdoor patio while we were here), this was the perfect experience. Would recommend the ribs and pulled pork, along with the potato salad & mac - but you really can’t go wrong.

Yelp
Came as a big group and they did not disappoint. Brisket was tender and delicious. Brownie was soooo chocolatey with nuts. And beans we flavorful. Staff was sweet too. Service is pretty quick. Plenty of space for large parties.

Yelp
Meh... I had a turkey leg that was kind of dry and not Smokey at all. Sauce did not make it better. Also had a side salad that wasn't bad. The BBQ here is usually pretty good, but this was honestly a let down. Big! But not good. Thank goodness for the onions and jalapeño carrots...

Yelp
I ordered a combo plate with pulled pork, ham, a couple of ribs and brisket. The pulled pork was good and so were the sides (cole slaw, onion rings, potato salad). I think the sides are better than the meat, though. The main flavor in everything is smoke. The ham doesn't taste like ham as much as it just tastes like smoke.

Yelp
When I was recently traveling to San Antonio for the Final Four with friends, we had to try some restaurants that truly represented Texas including several barbecue restaurants. Our local friends encouraged us to give Blanco BBQ a try, and from the ambiance to the food, everything was good, and we'd definitely recommend it to others visiting the area. The restaurant is located in a residential area next to Hardberger Park under the majestic oaks in a nice country setting. While there is a large dining room where you can order and then sit wherever you wish, and you will have your meal called when it is ready. There is also a private party room that can be reserved which is open for anyone to use it when it isn't reserved. That's where my group of seven sat and enjoyed a meal on a Sunday evening. There is also outdoor seating (great for picnics!) with a playground nearby that kids can enjoy. There is also live music every weekend (6-9 PM on Fridays and Saturdays and 1-4 PM on Sundays). Blanco BBQ offers brunch, lunch, and dinner through catering, a drive-through, calling it in, or ordering in the restaurant. You can learn more about Blanco BBQ on their website (https://blancobbq.com). Everyone in my group ordered something different whether BBQ plates, specialty tacos, sandwiches, salads, or combos. They are apparently known for their 100% Black Angus Brisket (which they smoke for 14 hours) and many other meat dishes. All of their sides are homemade. They also are known for their pecan pie, which they claim is "out of this world". While Blanco BBQ does not seem to have a specific birthday promotion or event, its catering offers a variety of options for birthdays and other celebrations. They can cater to up to 100 people in their Party Room or bring the party to your location, accommodating up to 1000 people offsite. They have 8 different menus to choose from. It is certainly a place that locals should bring their out of town friends as ours did for us!

Yelp
When I moved to Texas, I tried several barbecue joints. This one is the one I will take anyone who comes to visit! The inside is super fun and very "Texas." The food is always fresh and delicious! The brisket is incredible. The service is efficient and friendly. Love this place!

Yelp
Wish i could give it one star... Went here for the first time and the lady at the window was rude and had a very bad tone. she rolled her eyes at me after i asked a question about my order and slammed the window in my face when she decided it was time for me to drive off with no "thank you" or anything... i don't live even 5 minutes from the place and just as i got home my bank is calling me warning me of fraud use on my card. RIGHT AFTET I LEFT THERE! i pray they catch who is stealing peoples card information...

Yelp
First time here. Came at noon. Service was great and fast. You order at the counter and pick up on the side. There's a buffet of condiments such as pickles and pickled onions. Atmosphere was very much like a backyard bbq. There's outdoor seatings with a playground. Self-service with drinks and bbq sauces. Friendly staff and customer service. I got the marbled brisket and sausage. Meat was room temp. I prefer it warmer. Flavor was good and brisket was tender. I wouldn't say it's the best bbq I've had, but it's not the worst. It's your typical baclyard bbq. Potato salad was good and it had flavor, I've had worst potato salad. Overall, I would return and would recommend to families or people who's wanting backyard bbq without doing it themselves.

Yelp
As I type this review, the best thing about Blanco BBQ is the kids playground in the back. There are rules, and you need to keep an eye on your kids, yet there's plenty of tables outside to eat. As for the food, meh. It's been a while since I've been to Blanco BBQ, and I thought I remembered it tasting better. While there was plenty on the plate, it was okay. It's not the type of BBQ that you'll run and tell others about, yet we were hungry, and it mostly did the job. I did think the green beans were on the peppery side, the cream corn was quite runny as was the BBQ sauce. I did like the dill marinated onions, yet there was little else to like or love. There are other places I would consider though before coming back here. While the food service was pretty quick, the food wasn't piping hot. It was more like "just came off the heated lights" warm. They are great about calling out the orders and letting you know if you're going to need to carry a large number of trays. Will I come back? Maybe if a friend asked me, yet not because I recommended it.

Yelp
This visit was quite disappointing considering how nice the restaurant looks from inside and out. Blanco is almost like a Rudy's BBQ but without the gas station. I got their special of the day which was a chopped meat plate which came with 2 sides and a drink for $14. I made the mistake of assuming that meant beef but it's actually a conglomerate of their left over meats which includes more than beef. Ugh! The macaroni and cheese side was lukewarm flavorless soup pasta with different types of pasta shapes. Their green beans are also a cold soup of flavorless veggies. The only remotely hot item was the chopped meats. My husband ordered the two meat slices plate with brisket and sausage with a side of cream corn and mashed potatoes. Those sides were better in flavor. I had high expectations from this bbq spot but it was definitely a big let down. The best thing here is that they have a whole bar of bbq fixings that includes pickles, onions, pico, lemons and more.

Yelp
Blanco BBQ is one of my favorite local barbecue places to eat! I love the brisket and ribs plates. All of the sides I've had are delicious, but I often get Mac and cheese, green beans, or mashed potatoes. The prices are very reasonable for barbecue as well! They are quick to get your food done and call your number! We never have to wait long. And they are quick to pick up the tables and clear if you want. I love it! I love that there's a playground outside and there is ample seating indoor and out! Such a fun place for families or a fun date night. Sometimes they have live musicians play. So nice! I love Blanco BBQ! I highly recommend checking it out and enjoying a fun place with yummy food!!

Yelp
Blanco BBQ is one of my top two go-to spots for Texas BBQ. I can't recommend their Chopped BBQ Baked Potato enough--it's my absolute favorite, especially when paired with a perfectly brewed sweet tea. So delicious! The ambiance is fantastic, with live music on most days, and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming.

Anthony G.

Yelp
Usually when I come here I have a great experience but today was by far that. Order took long but hey you know I figured that means my food will be fresh and it was. Now I got mashed potatoes and chicken tenders the side of gravy that way given was a joke! Now mind you from being hungry when I sat down I ate I said I'll get up and ask for more where I told the girl at the register she said it will be a charge. $1.07. Now I'm not hard up for money I come here often and spend money so to be charged for their mistake come on. I paid it but truly I should not have. It put a bad taste in my mouth about them

Yelp
I thought I give this place another try and ordered a two meat plate. But where's the beef? This is what I was served today so choose wisely.
google avatar

Aly W.

Yelp
It's pretty decent! We've driven by a lot and finally decided to go here versus our usual BBQ spot. I wasn't disappointed but I also wasn't thrilled. They just didn't have what I was looking for but every BBQ place is so different. Meats were good, not any sides I really like other than cole slaw which is a personal problem, not theirs. Overall it was good but I couldn't say I'd be dying to go back. It's a super cute spot though. Tons of space both indoor and outdoor! Staff are super friendly and they definitely understand great service. Again, just a preference in offerings that didn't hit the mark for me.

Food was average bbq that we have so much of in Texas I had turkey plate with green beans and fries Ample side wagon of pickles onions etc Not a long wait Green beans were really good Turkey was only average to fair Fries were big think wedges with peel Very good Lots of seating Ambiance was average bbq joint I'd have to return and try more to form a real opinion Bathrooms were ok but not clean enough for me Huge party room looked nice

Yelp
PLEASE NOTE: If I had the option of giving unlimited infinity stars, I would!! I literally have ZERO complaints. This is my Granddaughter's favorite place to eat (play). We decided we would have her birthday party here. She was turning 4. At first we opted for the party room inside. That was booked at the time we needed so we decided on the back patio by the play area. I called and spoke to Brittney in the catering department. She was very professional over the phone and via email. She assured us there would be heaters on outside. I placed my order, paid for the food, ordered the cake (not from BBBQ) and sent the invites. The closer it got to the event my other twin granddaughters, 8 mos. caught colds the week leading up to the party and my daughter suggested they just stay home, but this was not an option as they were starting to feel better, plus my daughter would miss her nieces party and I couldn't have that. I called Brittney the day before the party and asked if there was any way we could just have some tables inside the restaurant due to the weather. She didn't even hesitate. She said she would call the store and see if they would be able to accommodate. I told her I would be happy with 2-3 tables as they were larger tables, even tho I knew it may not be enough space we would manage, as I wasn't trying to be difficult and I know they don't normally do parties inside the dining area. Of course the manager said yes and we were all set. Fast forward to Friday the 21st, evening of the party. It was to start at 7pm but I decided to arrive 30 minutes early and to my relief, they had us a small cake table, and 5 large tables!!!! All my stress just melted away as I walked in and saw that... not only did we have plenty of space for the food and presents, but everyone was able to sit and hang out comfortably. And of course you always have those few stragglers that don't RSVP and we ended up with about 10 extra guests, so it worked out perfectly. The gentleman who usually comes and sings al the George Strait songs was there so that was a plus. The food came out exactly on time and we didn't have to lift a finger... Josh made sure he set everything up for us. The food was delicious and freshly made. They even made sure we had all of the sides. It's was just amazing! They really outdid themselves on the service end. The cashier was so sweet and so friendly when we went to get extras like the buckets of beer and drinks, water, etc. my granddaughter had an amazing time and I couldn't have been more thrilled. They never rushed us and everyone was able to have a wonderful tim I will definitely be booking more parties here for sure.

Yelp
GET THE FRIED MUSHROOMS! The brisket is delicious, the mac and cheese is creamy and cheesy, sweet tea is perfect. One of our favorite BBQ places in the city. We drive across town on the regular to get some! They're always super quick with servicing our food and we love the vibe when they have live acoustic music inside. Also! Great play area outside for kiddos
google avatar

Nori F.

Yelp
This place is great! Casual dining with a lot of seating, indoor and outdoor but outdoors was too hot to sit. Order at the front and they bring the food to you. Beer, wine, seltzers, soda in large drink containers and self serve BBQ fixings. Good selection of drinks. Beer was also available in buckets but we didn't need 6. I think this was $20 vs single was $4.25. Sides were great, got the creamed corn, fried okra, coleslaw and potato salad! Will stop by again.
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Food was good, went drive thru. And of course, "excellent" service from Megan. No customer service at all, I guess working at a Bbq place making $10 makes you better, This place is usually good but the customer service isn't great.

Donna M.

Yelp
1st visit the brisket was moist and sliced generously but, absolutely no flavor!! When walking the smell of smoke was quite strong. The brisket had no evidence of being barbequed! The cold slaw was a bit sweet like it was cabbage and maybe apple?? Being a Bbq loving Texan I will not go back!!

Sarah F.

Yelp
First thing you notice is all the signs on the door! Walk in to a bunch of picnic tables and even more signs. It's confusing and overwhelming. Someone shouted "welcome" but no one offered assistance or any directions. I saw the self service kiosk and ordered food. It said take receipt for your drink cup. Again no help and had no idea where to get my drink cup. My food came out right away. Then I had to hunt down utensils and napkins. Chicken tenders were not fresh. The breading fell right off. Not flavorful and really hard. The French fries should be called wedges. They were good but almost cold. Mac n cheese was ok. Less skunk signs and more clear directions would be nice. Now that I figured it out, I'll give them another try.
google avatar

Darlene K.

Yelp
I think this is probably the most underrated barbecue spot in San Antonio. Its tubs of ice with sodas and beers welcomes you. When you get to the register, there are great combos to choose from. Usually the chicken is super tender. Today it was a little dry. The star of the menu is the marbled brisket. We are in Texas after all. I absolutely love that they trim the fat off the brisket before they serve it to you. This attention to details puts them above the rest. Every other place I've been to has served me brisket where half my order is fat. Their fries are crispy and salty outside and soft inside. Just perfect. I like to come here on weekdays before dinner, but after lunch. This place is stuffed to the gills on the weekend, so good luck, if you show up then. Even when there are a lot of customers, the food comes quickly. And if you love pickles, they've got a fantastic pickle bar, with fairly hot jalapenos.
google avatar

George D.

Yelp
Ok, food was great, customer service on point. Only gripe, when doing a take out, if you order desert, make sure it's in the bag...

Ew S.

Yelp
Ordered a rack of ribs, a chicken, 1 # of beef. The rack of ribs had 4 ribs with NO meat on the them . I went today and ordered a chicken. I told the order taker about this and he said, "Oh you must have received one of the SKINEY rack of ribs "
google avatar

Karen 2.

Yelp
the food was delicious from here the pulled pork sandwich was quite tasty with the sauce and mac n cheese.
google avatar

Albert F.

Yelp
The food was great the chicken was perfectly seasoned and everything. The service was pretty quick only took like 5-8 minutes. Highly recommend
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
Overall pretty good. I got the 1/2 chicken which was very tender and had good smoke, the borracho beans which were very different from what I'm used to. It was definitely thicker and more like a chili. It had very good depth of flavor and big chunks of meat in it which was really nice Broccoli was whatever...it's just broccoli but it needed some seasoning.
google avatar

Celeste C.

Yelp
Just came here today with a huge party. I love how much the restaurant is for having a big group, even the parking lot is huge. It was our first time so we order the brisket and chicken and green beans. I lovec love v loved the chicken. Was cooked to perfection and so savory. Will definitely be back! I saw they have a drive thru too. How convenient!

Andres V.

Yelp
Service was fast! Food was ok. Good ambiance there! It's like a backyard bbq feel. Big space for parties and parking! I'd recommend any other bbq spot for better food though. The meats could have been fresher and were a little dried out, but the sides of potato salad and coleslaw tasted good!

CynMarie H.

Yelp
The food is as terrible, we got BRISKET, Mac and cheese, corn on the cob and brocoli with no special flavor, BRISKET was so dry it would disintegrate when picked up. They said an hour wait. went to the pick up area an hour and 15 minutes later and still not ready. Tables are messy, staff is rude and not customer service oriented. people grabbing their noses and utensils from the drink areas. The portions are not what you order, they conveniently place bread on top to cover the portions. I don't know how they are in business! it was really a regretful experience. Never again! Tastelss, classless you are better off going to Bill Millers.
google avatar

Kayla N.

Yelp
For a recent work event, my company catered in food/ desserts from a bunch of different San Antonio restaurants. As part of the order, the team ordered brisket, pulled pork, turkey, sausage, potato salad, beans and the fixings (bbq sauce, bread, pickles, onions, etc). I tried a little bit of everything - it all looked great! All of the meats were cooked nicely and didn't have a kick (spiciness) to them which can be a problem with sausage at many bbq places for me. I did think the brisket, pulled pork and sausage could've had a bit more "oomf" to them to make them stand out but I also can't put my finger on what they needed. The turkey however was perfect. The potato salad was a huge hit and I couldn't get enough of it- yum! On the other hand, the beans and bbq sauce were a miss for me and I was so glad they were on the side. One bite of beans and a taste of the bbq sauce were enough for me - no thank you. Overall, the food was good and I enjoyed it but this wasn't the best BBQ I've had in SA. The location of the restaurant is convenient to my house and office and easy to meet at with friends but I'd rather drive a bit further for something a bit more noteworthy.
google avatar

Molly A.

Yelp
Looked like a pretty popular place to eat judging by the parking lot. We walked in and ordered our plates. The food came out pretty quick. The sausage plate was okay, not much favor and wasn't that warm. The brisket didn't have much flavor so add lots of sauce. The chopped bbq sandwich was pretty good. As for sides, we had coleslaw, potato salad and macaroni. The potato salad was like that out of a tub from the grocery store and the coleslaw was a bit on the drier side. The macaroni was okay but the sauce is soupy. Not terrible but just an okay meal. All that and four drinks for $50. We ate inside and the wooden booth is okay, not comfortable for taller people as our knees hit the table and the seat is narrow.

Gloria M.

Yelp
My fiancé and I got extremely sick Saturday March 8th. We both had vomiting and diarrhea! He had fever and I had horrible headaches and stomach cramps. I'm finally feeling better today March 10th. We will not be returning back to this place! We ordered the brisket plate with two sides. I had marbled brisket with okra and Mac and cheese. He had marbled brisket with coleslaw. Worse experience ever. I've never had this worse kind of food poisoning in my life!

Bella G.

Yelp
order- kids plate with turkey and a side of mashed potatoes (I also tasted the fried okra, green beans, and macaroni) I wasn't too hungry so I got a kids plate and it was the perfect amount of food for me :) The turkey was soft and seasoned well- it wasn't too smokey. I got mashed potatoes as my side and they were creamy and garlicky. I usually would've gotten the fried okra as my side but I decided I'd branch out a little. I'm a hoe for some fried okra. Here, the batter is seasoned well and it's nice and crispy. The green beans had bacon and brisket in them so they had a nice smokey flavor. I had never tried the macaroni at Blanco BBQ and absolutely fell in love with it. It was creamy, flavorful, and the noodles were nice and big. I hate when some bbq places have macaroni that just doesn't hit but this one HIT. ‍ (Also- They have a huge outside seating area for social distancing in the front AND back of the restaurant if you want to eat out but still be cautious!)

Yelp
Blanco BBQ has sadly started to go downhill lately and tonight was bad enough to have me post this review after giving it multiple chances the past few months. It's a convenient neighborhood spot that I have enjoyed going to over the years, but sadly recently the quality of the food and especially the service has absolutely tanked. The prices are high, but the level of the food/service was more than enough to offset and still made it a good value...until lately. I got into the drive-thru line at 8:40 when closing is at 9. I ordered the 4 piece chicken strips, substitute the gravy for BBQ sauce, with mashed potatoes and onion rings for the sides. It super complicated and no comments from the lady taking my order. About 20 minutes of waiting later I get to the window. The gentleman there then tells me that they just threw out all the mashed potatoes and all they have left are green beans, borracho beans, and cream corn. A bit annoying that they'd throw food out while people are still in line (two cars still behind me), but things happen. Get the food and head home, where the 4 piece with BBQ sauce is actually a 3 piece with gravy. Which is odd because there isn't a 3 piece on the menu, so all I can imagine is that is what was left over and it was thrown into the box hoping I wouldn't notice. So over 18 dollars where the only thing accurate were the onion rings. Very disappointing and sadly I can no longer recommend people visit Blanco BBQ.

Yelp
Everything is great! The food, the service and the ambience were fantastic, the only but is for the waiting time for the meals, it really takes long

Yelp
Nothing fancy. Just the barbecue. Meats - Great Sides - Great Pecan pie - Great Lonestar on ice - Great
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty decent BBQ if you are nearby. Could use a bit more flavor but it was solid and good value.

Yelp
So good! Neat place, love the trees. The menu is vast and the food is delicious! The manager(owner?) came by personally to check on us a couple of times. Everyone in our group enjoyed the food, two even went and ordered extra to take home. The service was excellent and food came out fast. This is definitely a place where I will return!
google avatar

SicJjr Y.

Yelp
Awesome food and service Try the fried mushrooms they are cooked to perfection. The burger is good. The bbq is good and they offer a plethora of condiments

Gregg M.

Yelp
This establishment is close, we continue to give them chances, this will be the last. We wanted green beans, stopped by to get a small serving. 1-pint of green beans 8.65 + tax is outrageous. Open the lid at home and what did we find? Hair, stems, tomatoes and very few beans. Never again!

Lissa P.

Yelp
We were totally disappointed. The BBQ chicken was undercooked and extremely salty. The sausage had a grey center and the taste was off - perhaps old or spoiled. Our friend ordered brisket and he said it was dry. From my viewpoint it looked dry and greyish. Potato salad and coleslaw was nothing to rave about - even the white bread slices were stale. Waste of money... never going back.

Yelp
My husband and I had lunch at Blanco BBQ on a Saturday afternoon and we really enjoyed it! The place is large so even though there were lots of cars in the lot, there was plenty of open seating. We both got the 2 meat plate with 2 sides. Portions were generous, the meats were tender and flavorful, and the sides were very good. The background music wasn't playing super loud so we were able to converse without yelling, which is always nice. We'll definitely be back when we're on that side of town.
google avatar

Luis O.

Yelp
A once staple ran out of staples. Bbq was flavorless and dry. What happened to this place? I came on a slow day. I had to drench the brisket with sauce.

Mcperez1 P.

Yelp
1.Worst online service epic horrible experience- two different web sites 2. Call in to pick up order oops there is a problem we will call you back - no call yet 3. Drove thru today to order- was told they don't accept family orders thru the drive thru lane Won't go back

Marco L.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, good price, very nice up front, food is great and at the least on par with any other bbq in the city.
google avatar

Karissa G.

Yelp
4 stars because I did not dine in, I ordered to-go through a delivery service. I got the catfish plate with green beans and mac and cheese. The catfish was amazing, fried to perfection with cornmeal batter. The green beans were also really good they use brisket and bacon to cook them. Mac and cheese was regular but I will be returning to try their BBQ. Overall really good!

Yelp
We were so anxious to try Blanco BBQ. It has a fun laidback roadhouse kinda feel with live music. You can eat inside or out on either the front or back patios. The staff are great, even if you only see them while you are in line ordering. No one brings you your order and no one refills your drink. It's strictly a self serve fast food BBQ joint... drive thru included. I ordered the Large Brisket Plate (choppers choice) with Mac N' Cheese and Green Beans. Friend #1 ordered the same with lean cuts, and sides of Coleslaw and Potato Salad. Friend #2 ordered the Chopped BBQ plate with Mashed Potatoes without gravy and Mac N' Cheese and Peach Cobbler to round out her meal. Unfortunately we all agreed, the brisket was entirely too fatty, greasy, and kinda gross. The BBQ sauce, on the side, was flavorful. However, the sides were fantastic! The Peach Cobbler was ok but not great. I'd say "You get what you paid for." But that wouldn't be accurate since for what we received we overpaid. You just have to remember this is "fast food" and not a restaurant.
