From the food, to the decor, to the service, this restaurant is everything you could hope for and more!
We made a reservation, and despite running 20 minutes late, they were able to hold the table for us. I was there for a bachelorette party, and the bride has Celiac, so she can't eat gluten. Our waiter also happened to have Celiac, and he informed us that they have a gluten-intolerant friendly kitchen.
For starters, we ordered guac and queso. Unlike a lot of Mexican restaurants, the queso tasted fresh and had a much thinner consistency, indicating that high-quality cheese was used. The guac was so fresh that by the end of the night, it was brown. I also enjoyed the chips, which were not overly salted. We also ordered a pitcher of skinny margs, which our waiter had recommended. They had rose pedals and elderberry, which was good, but it really just tasted like a regular skinny marg.
I ordered the Chicken Tinga bowl, and it was packed with flavor. The rice was cooked perfectly and the corn added a sweet balance to the saltiness.
I was also impressed with the service. One of our friends arrived 10 minutes after we received our food. Our waiter promptly took her order, and it was out of the kitchen within 10 minutes of him taking the order.
There are some negatives here. The first being that it's on Broadway, so you will need a reservation because it gets packed. The second is that the prices are ridiculous. The pitcher of margs that served 6 was $75. Our friend also ordered a single marg, and it was $25. Our waiter also tried to do a lot of upselling so definitely watch out for that because it can add up fast. Despite the prices, the food and atmosphere are absolutely worth it.
