Tacos and Tequila Arriving Soon at Fashion Valley - Eater San Diego

"The first of two new Fashion Valley eateries from Fox Restaurant Concepts will make its debut later this month; scheduled to grand open on Wednesday, September 26, Blanco Tacos + Tequila will bring a modern Mexican menu and a big tequila-based beverage program to the mall. This is the fourth Blanco location for the highly-regarded hospitality group, run by True Food Kitchen founder Sam Fox, which also operates Flower Child in Del Mar and will launch North Italia at Fashion Valley later this year and a yet-unnamed eatery in Coronado in early 2019. Located on the second floor of the mall near the movie theater, Blanco Tacos + Tequila seats 225 across a 4,930-square-foot indoor/outdoor space; the design for the San Diego outpost is new for the brand, and includes unique artwork and murals. It will be open daily for lunch and dinner, with a weekday happy hour from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Executive chef Aimee Patel is overseeing a menu that starts with a signature guacamole made with roasted poblano, anaheim chiles, caramelized onion, and cotija cheese and other dishes including chicken tortilla soup, warm queso dip, and “Mexican pizza” topped with short rib machaca. Tacos are the centerpiece, served on fresh corn tortillas, with fillings ranging from grilled avocado to Snake River Wagyu carne asada, but there are also burritos, bowls, enchiladas, and fajitas. Beverages get equal billing, from agave spirits for sipping to cocktails made with fresh juices that include a Blackberry Clementine Margarita with white tequila and hibiscus sea salt to a Oaxacan Shandy made with pineapple, blood orange liqueur, tequila, Mexican beer and cilantro." - Candice Woo

Great menu options. I ordered the fish tacos, plenty of fish so I nibbled some before trying to pick up the tortillas since they were so full. My wife ordered the chicken tortilla soup, which appears to be a staple in San Diego since its on other SD Mexican food menus. The staff are very welcoming when checking in and I noticed how well they keep the tables cleared when you are finished and after other customers departed. There is also a great outdoor sitting area

Everything we ordered tasted so good! I love their chili sauce. Service, atmosphere and hygiene were excellent! We went back the next day. We were visiting.

The taco salad here is always my go-to. Great flavors, big portion and actually filling. I also love their mango ceviche and anything with short rib machaca. They also make a killer skinny margarita & guacamole. Overall a solid choice for lunch or dinner! The restaurant is decorated super cute and modern with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Really enjoyed the food here. The restaurant is in a mall setting but really had a great atmosphere. The margaritas were excellent. I would definitely go back.

This was the first place we ate after landing in San Diego, and it was purely by chance! My family just wanted to sit outside and enjoy the weather. I ordered the fish tacos and my husband ordered the chicken salad (which, according to the server, is seasonal). Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals, but after seeing what else was in my husband's salad (quinoa, mango, strawberries) I was a bit sad that I hadn't ordered one for myself. So, on our last night in San Diego we came back for a second meal and this time I got the chicken salad as well as a margarita 🍹. This place was very enjoyable, the wait staff was very attentive, and obviously I loved their food 😍.

TRY THE GRILLED AVOCADO TACOS! We were in the mall and stopped into Blanco for a bite. Being a vegetarian, it can be difficult to eat but the staff at Blanco was more than accommodating to our wants. I had the grilled avocado tacos, black beans, and rice and was well impressed. The meal was served fresh and hot. Handmade corn tortillas were fantastic. Our server was very professional yet friendly. A great place to grab a bite if you’re nearby.

Google
This is such a fun place for Mexican food. Loved the ancho chile sauce on the sweet potato enchilada, and really enjoyed the grilled avocado taco. The beans, rice, and salsa were also delicious! But I’m taking off a star because there are zero as is vegan options on the menu. We literally ordered the only two tweakable options to make them close enough to enjoy. In other words, all of the vegetarian dishes also contain butter and cheese. Even the rice and ancho chile sauce.

Google
The food and drinks are excellent. The two bartenders today were very attentive, helpful, and friendly. We ordered the smash burger and the spicy pineapple margarita which were both amazing. I also ordered a dirty martini which was amazing as well. Definitely one of the best restaurants at fashion. Thank you!

Yelp
From the moment we arrived at Blanco Cocina + Cantina, we were greeted warmly and seated immediately, making us feel like part of the family. The ambiance is delightful, with charming decor and an impressive open kitchen featuring glass windows and doors--a true visual treat. We were taken care of by the sweetest host Mariah and she quickly took our drink orders. I ordered a Cadillac Margarita, which was expertly crafted and delicious. For our main course, we shared the beef fajitas, and they were outstanding--the quality of the meat was exceptional. The flavors were rich and satisfying, making each bite a pleasure. The service was impeccable, and the overall experience was so enjoyable that I wish I could dine and drink here every day!

Yelp
Blanco Cocina & Cantina has remained at Fashion Valley over several years and has kept up since the CPK closed down. It's not authentic by any means but is a pretty restaurant to eat at after doing some shopping! The inside is polished and has a modern look to it. The group is owned by the same owners of The Henry and the interior space gives me the same modern look. It's great for large parties as there were many tables in the restaurant. I got their Carne Asada Burrito. It was a pretty hefty size, and I could do without the added ancho chili sauce on top as I don't like using a fork and knife to eat a burrito. The plate comes with your choices of charro or black beans, and I chose charro. I was unaware that they put beans in the burrito as well and found it a bit of bean overload lol but the portion for their burrito is quite large! Service is great, the food came out very quick, and we love refills on tortilla chips. Their salsa is great too, I would ask if they had anything spicy next time. I'd actually consider doing a celebration of some kind here as I feel like not too many people would reserve here and I love the atmosphere. This is one of the better options if you're looking for some solid food if you're not feeling the food court and don't want something with a big wait like Cheesecake Factory. Didn't have any drinks, but I do think they offer a wide selection of alcohol from cocktails, sangria, beer, margaritas, flights, and beer!

Yelp
Ah, lunchtime--where mortgage brokers and mild-mannered food enthusiasts unite for a single cause: preventing mid-day hanger before sealing life-changing real estate deals. So there I was, stepping into Blanco Tacos + Tequila, a vibrant Mexican restaurant parked right across from the AMC Theater in Fashion Valley. A place where tacos flow like poetry and tequila whispers bad decisions in your ear. But today? Today was about balance--a noble pursuit of greens before the grandeur of closing-day celebrations. Enter Logan: Bartender, Multitasking Extraordinaire, and Possibly a Jedi It's high noon--literally, 12:00 PM on the dot. Logan is already running the show like a well-rehearsed Broadway star, greeting me instantly despite orchestrating what looks like a small army of customers. He hands me a menu, asks if I need a drink, and doesn't even blink when I request unsweetened iced tea (because, you know, sugar crashes are the enemy of productivity). Then, like a true hospitality sensei, he drops the chips and salsa like a mic, setting the tone for a service masterclass. Avocado Caesar Salad: A Healthy Power Move Now, I'm no stranger to the seductive ways of Mexican cuisine, but today was about strategy. When I inquired about the Avocado Caesar salad, Logan didn't just describe it--he sold it like an Oscar-winning performance. He broke down the ingredients, explained the health benefits, and made me feel like I was about to devour the kale of the gods. And folks, he wasn't wrong. It was crisp, flavorful, perfectly portioned--not too big, not too small--just right, like Goldilocks' dream meal, but with more guacamole. Service So Good, Even the Staff Are Fans Logan wasn't flying solo either. Enter Frank, an in-house fan of Logan's work. Watching them interact, it's clear this isn't just a workplace--it's a dojo of service excellence. A place where camaraderie, leadership, and fun exist in perfect harmony, much like the tea that accompanied my meal. Final Verdict: Like a Great Mortgage, This Experience Was Seamless As a Mortgage Broker and small business owner, I live by the principle that great service isn't just a nice touch--it's the foundation of everything. Buying a home? Refinancing? Every detail matters--from the initial handshake to the final signature. And today, Logan and his crew at Blanco delivered that same level of excellence. And here's the kicker: I didn't even need tequila to make this a memorable experience. That's right--I was fully sober, yet still raving about this place. If that's not a five-star endorsement, I don't know what is. Bravo, Logan. Bravo, Blanco Tacos + Tequila. You just made a regular lunch legendary. Highly recommend. Yelp
Went here for a birthday dinner & really had great service and yummy Mexican food with a little twist to it. Their rice was incredible just like the review I'd seen said. Definitely would recommend. It is at the Fashion Valley Mall which made us waffle a bit on our choice, but we really were happy we gave it a try. The ambiance was great and didn't feel like a mall restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
The rice was so buttery and good. The tacos were very good as well I would recommend the carne asada. They give free chips and salsa as well that was very good.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here during resturant week and enjoyed the 3 course $30 deal. Decent portions and everything was delicious. Guacamole had good flavor, shrimp tacos had a real good salsa on it. Flan was better than most I've had. Son ordered a salad he took one bite of and it didn't make him feel well so they took it back and off the bill without any issues. A lot of drink options which do revolve around tequila obviously. Nice outdoor seating area and decent size bar. Pleasant open feel even inside. Overall happy with this place and I'll come back here
google avatar

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised with this amazing new Mexican spot! It's a super cute place and has tons of room. The portions are on the smaller end, but everything we got was ultra fresh and super tasty. I was a big fan of the mango ceviche, Mexican corn, mahi mahi tacos (best on the menu), and the grilled shrimp tacos. The shrimp fajitas were good but definitely not filling enough. Their rice was also delicious. My favorite thing on the menu? The tres leches cake - and I'm not even a big dessert person! It was super moist and very delicious! Best dessert I've ever had! Service was amazing. Our waitress was super helpful and really nice! Definitely recommend checking this place out!
google avatar

Yelp
You have to get the mango ceviche!! It's the perfect level of spicy, the shrimp is so juicy, and the ingredients are so fresh. I loved my carne asada tacos as well. I had the strawberry margarita and LOVED it. Service was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is very cute, right next to the AMC theater. The patio seating is nice, the inside is beautiful as well. Definitely a great spot for some tacos and margaritas.

Yelp
The Blanco experience at Fashion valley is very similar to the experience at any other Blanco. The atmosphere is nice with both indoor and outdoor seating. The servers are appropriate and wait on you often without being overbearing. The food is good and typical of a "chain" restaurant. They do periodically have Restaurant Week and other specials which make the food even more worth the value!
google avatar

Becky L.

Yelp
There's a lot of seating with an open style bar so you don't really feel crammed in, or too close to your neighbor. I've been here twice to celebrate an occasion, and both times we came with a large group (12-15 or so). The restaurant was easily able to accommodate us and I didn't feel like we took over the place - there was still ample seating for everyone else. I ordered the enchilada plate both times and was pleased with the portion size - one time I ate the whole thing and the other I took half of it home (which actually reheated well). Once I had a classic margarita which was nice and the other I had an Agua Fresca which was refreshing. Overall it was a nice place to eat and a great place to celebrate a milestone with a large group.
google avatar

Shareen B.

Yelp
The food was OK. It's more on the sweet side, which wasn't really for me or my partner. Major points for the bottomless salsa - it was really good! We waited a long time for our server to bring our check and it was difficult to get her attention. Besides that, she was nice and offered to take a photo of us when we got our food.

Yelp
Blanco is a total tourist trap. Located just feet away from hotel circle. Decided to grab a bite after watching a movie at AMC. The space is beautiful. The service was good considering how large the restaurant is. I ordered one of their aguas frescas which was good. Also had the cheese dip, It was decent. Definitely nothing special. To eat I had the carne asada Bowl, lots of rice and beans. Tiny bit of carne asada and avocado. Husband had the carnitas enchiladas which were definitely very good. All in all, a good experience aside from the rowdy children jumping around in the booth next to us. Watcha gonna do.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful dining experience as always! After a long hard day of shopping, we come in here for the sizzling shrimp fajitas and it never disappoints. Also try the beef warm queso. It's out of sight! The manager is super kind and accommodating, especially since we came in at 20 till closing time. They were so nice about it and served us quickly and with a smile. We really appreciate, this oasis in the fashion Valley Mall. Excellent food amazing service.

Yelp
You never know how mall food will go but luckily Blanco knocks it out of the park! Our server was so sweet and fast. We loved our drinks (the jalapeño pineapple is SPICY! Trust the warning!) My chicken tacos were tender and I loved the sauce. And their rice is out of this world!

Yelp
Tried Blanco for Sunday morning brunch and was pleasantly surprised as I did not think that I would enjoy the food as much as I did. Between my friend and I, we shared the taco salad and the short rib cheese crisp (which is essentially a giant pizza or an open faced quesadilla but they won't let their servers describe it like that). Because we were splitting, they offered to pre-portion the salad into two bowls which was very helpful. The cheese crisp was tasty, although a bit heavy (I probably only had 1-2 slices of the pie). The taco salad on the other hand was PHENOMENAL so much so that I was recently inspired to make my own taco salad at home. The salad was crisp and refreshing, while also being flavorful. Surprisingly my only qualm with it was that there was too much meat in proportion to the lettuce, however I understand that this is a good problem to have and others may not agree! Our server for the first half of the meal was actually the general manager and he was a loud and lively dude, yet very friendly. He mentioned that one of his servers was late and there was a stark difference between him and the server that replaced him, who must've not said more than 2 words to me and my friend and did not really check on us either. Despite this small hiccup, I would come back to Blanco again and even recommend it to others for Brunch!

Yelp
Wow! Just got back from a late lunch. We ordered from the Restaurant Week menu and ended up with more than we could eat in one sittling. Starting off with the complimentary chips and salsa, they give a great impression. The chips are warm and fresh and just salty enough, the salsa chunky and not too hot. My frozen classic margarita was very good--better than most, but not a bargain at $15. Then came the guacamole and queso. The queso was tasty, if not hot enough, but the quacamole was VERY good--so much better than most restaurants. The portions of both were plenty to share..The shrimp taco plate and the chicken fajitas were both great and generous. Finally came the desserts: flan with berries and real whipped cream, and the tres leche cake which was also very filling. Service was outstanding, chip refills, pleasant interactions and an offer for a takehome portion of chips and sals on the house! I have seen the restaurant for years on the way to the theaters, but had never stopped to eat. Blanco has done what so many establishments fail to do--put their best foot forward during a promotion. We'll be back! Hmm...Happy Hour on the way to an early show!

Yelp
The host was quick to greet and seat us. The food was descent. They had loud music and the decor was lovely inside. Our waiter was nice and on top of refills. I rated them 4 out of 5 since the menu items we tried were not amazing or anything.
google avatar

Daniel G.

Yelp
We stopped in for an early dinner around 315. We were seated right away by a friendly hostess. Our waitress almost immediately came over and took our drink order and chips were immediately left on the table. Their chips and salsa are amazing! The cheese crisp was just okay and definitely overpriced. The rest of the food though was out of this world (get the chimichanga enchilada style). For the four of us with two alcoholic drinks, was $120! Very well priced. Inside was airy to the outside mall and it wasn't too loud or anything. Great spot for some great Mexican food!

Yelp
We love this place! This is our second time stopping by this spot whenever we're in town. The first time was more of an outdoor lunch on the patio. But our most recent visit was indoors for dinner. If you're coming just for this restaurant I suggest parking on the top lot which is right next to this restaurant on the top floor. The staff is so friendly and food was delicious. Carne asada fajitas was definitely 5 stars. The meat was so juicy and very flavorful. I ordered mine cooked medium and it was perfection. Came with your choice of flour or corn tortillas and then on a bed of grilled veggies & a side of a crumble cheese, pico de gallo, a scoop of guac and a corn salad. My friend ordered a side of street corn which was incredible! Definitely worth ordering. Their drinks were fantastic. I enjoyed their mango margarita. It came with a chewy dried mango in it. Sweet, yummy and delicious. Favorite part is they came with chips and salsa which also didn't slack on quality.
google avatar

Chanel Y.

Yelp
Super cute vibe! Since it's in the mall, there's always parking which is great. The staff is very accommodating and polite. The food is good, not great. However, I'd come back for the guacamole and queso alone. Both were amazing! I do want to come back again and try a new dish though.
google avatar

Yelp
*Restaurant week 2024* Blanco still is one of the best deals for restaurant week. We ordered the guacamole and Queso for appetizers. Both were delicious and well portions. Love their chips. For entrees, I was disappointed the shrimp was chopped up inside the enchiladas but really enjoyed the poblano sauce and Charo beans. The chicken fajitas was overly sauced and a little dry. The desserts were both the star of the show. The chocolate cake was equally as delicious as the tres leche cake and was still good the next day! I had their seasonal strawberry mandarin margaritas which is my favorite now! We were seated quickly and the service was friendly and not overly slow. Overall, Blanco is a solid choice for restaurant week.

Yelp
As a local San Diegan, mexican food is one of my specialties. I can say this is some of the best mexican food I've had in SD especially for a chain restaurant. The grilled avocado tacos are my absolute favorite and the breakfast burrito is great too. The service is always outstanding. I've been here when it's busy, when it's slower, with groups of people, and with only one person. The food remains consistent, high quality, and delicious every time!
google avatar

Emmett T.

Yelp
Blanco Cocina + Cantina is located next to the food court on the top level of the Fashion Valley Mall across from the AMC Theaters. Interestingly, this is the only location in California despite the chain having a presence in multiple states. Another branch will be opening soon in Coronado. I came by for a quick dinner as I was in between lengthy exercise sessions at two venues in different parts of town. I sat at a high-top table near the bar, and the waiter came by quickly to bring water and complimentary chips and salsa. The Hamachi & Watermelon Ceviche was my appetizer which has been switched out of the menu now. I liked how the watermelon cut into the acidity of the dish. The Carne Asada taco plate was my entree. The two tacos were served with sides of Mexican rice and black beans (my choice instead of charro). The wagyu beef was very tender and of high quality which probably reflected the sourcing of the meat from Snake River Farms. What elevated my meal was the level of service. I was pleasantly surprised at how fast the food came out of the kitchen given what I heard about the inconsistency of this aspect. I only had limited time at the restaurant so the promptness was very beneficial. My server frequently checked in with me and was cooperative with my time frame. Since this initial visit, I have returned on a couple of other occasions with different friends to enjoy the four star level experience.
google avatar

Pam B.

Yelp
Best chips and salsa EVER! I have been to Blanco numerous times. I had a free queso coupon so I ordered that and added the ground beef. They have Campo Viejo so a glass would be a lovely addition. I then ordered a martini and the glass was only half full for $16.50 (where was the other half of the drink??!!) The server was somewhat attentive but missed a few beats on the drink order and when finalizing the bill. My next visit I will try the shrimp ceviche.
google avatar

Karlo S.

Yelp
Honestly one of my favorite Mexican spots in San Diego. Admittedly, it's more on the bougie/fancy side of Mexican options. Clearly SD is known for it's Mexican food with taco and burrito spots everywhere! For me this place stands out because not only do you have a variety of different taco options--yes you have the regulars like carne asada, chicken pastor, grilled shrimp and yummy mahi--but you have some other great menu items such as my go to - fajitas! The steak fajitas are my absolute favorite. Surprisingly, we don't actually have a lot of sizzling fajita options here in San Diego, so I'm really glad the ones in Blanco are bomb.com. Yes, I said bomb.com lol. They also have these things called Cheese Crisps which is basically like a super thin and CRISPY Mexican pizza. Get the BBQ Pork and Roasted Corn Cheese Crip and thank me later. They also have salads, chimichangas, burritos and of course a huge list of alcoholic (and non-alcoholic) drinks to wash your food down with! Great ambience also...lots of indoor and outdoor seating with really nice decor, good music playing and plenty of servers checking up on you!
google avatar

Tara K.

Yelp
First time here and loved everything! The ambiance is super fun and the staff were friendly and attentive. We were here for a friend's engagement dinner and I loved how they placed a handwritten card congratulating them on their engagement on the table. It was such a thoughtful touch that meant a lot to our friends:) The food was incredible! I really enjoyed the endless chips and salsa + my tacos. That coconut/corn rice was fantastic! I can't wait to come back to try other items in the menu. Thank you for a great experience!
google avatar

Yelp
We showed up here in mid afternoon and decided to do a linner which is a lunch / dinner and the great thing is if you do it in the bar area, ther is half priced nd special happy hour items menu which was great for us. In addition to a regular tacos plate with rice and beans turned out to be a perfect meal with appetizer to share. The guacamole served with chips and a salsa complimentary offering was a good starter. The two tacos with a rice and beans to go with was good. The fish was a bit off, but with lime squeezed on, was a good dish. Out bartender girl was pleasant, informative and attentive.
google avatar

Sophia C.

Yelp
I came here about two months ago. I left a review and was invited back. The food the second time around was just as flavorful as before but we were much more pleased with the side of beans this time. Their soup is so yummy and packed with goodness. The tacos were great and although there are only two it was very filling! Our waitress was fantastic!! I wish I got her name but all the staff was very friendly as well. Thank you for the invitation back it was a pleasure to come again.
google avatar

Ally O.

Yelp
Taco time!!! The first meal I had in SD was at @blancotacostequila ! it was at the mall so I wasn't expecting it to be amazing but I was SO wrong. I got the tacos: 1 carne asada + 1 grilled shrimp. Both were so good I ended up getting the same order to-go for my bf. Actually I came back here another day with my coworkers and got the exact same order that time too!! The servers were all really nice and I especially loved my server the first time I came to eat alone--she was very personable and sweet. Also loved the ambiance with all the big windows letting the light in.
google avatar

Karen M.

Yelp
We are returning customers! This time we were only there for drinks, and thumbs up to restaurants that happily receive non-dining customers. We were even offered a table because they had some available and brought us some chips and salsa! The service was wonderful Btw I really enjoyed the coconut mojito, a bit strong, but delicious
google avatar

Rhett R.

Yelp
Stopped here after a long day of travel! This is bougie Mexican food similar to Puesto. Not authentic, but everything we ordered was tasty. Service was great and the dodge margarita was one of the best I had.
google avatar

Morgan W.

Yelp
Food here is just okay, nothing mind blowing. Where you will find bang for your buck is the cocktail section of the menu. I will say that this is better than most of the dining options at fashion valley and it is conveniently located across from the AMC. I ordered the Christmas margarita and it was delicious. I could have had five of them. Cranberry and rosemary flavors together to make a holiday spirit. To eat, I had the two taco plate with rice and beans. One avocado taco and one short rib taco. Shell on my tacos were corn (choice of corn or flour), too large, and fell apart while eating. Short rib was heavily salted and needed some extra spice. Avocado was grilled and tasted better than the rib. If you are at the mall and want Mexican food that's not at the food court. This would be the option for you.
google avatar

Aimee A.

Yelp
Great option for out of town visitors - food was good, the salsa, guacamole were tasty, as was the spicy skinny marg. The tacos were on point. Easy parking in mall lot.
google avatar

Niki R.

Yelp
We had been walking for a while and hit upon this place as we wandered around the Fashion Valley mall. It's a great place to get off your feet and take in a cocktail on a hot day. Smashed Strawberry & Mandarin -- oh my - this was so perfectly balanced. I appreciated that the salt rim was only on one side of the glass. Hubby got the Coconut Mojito - another yummy drink with tequila, run, toasted coconut and a pineapple rum float. Our waitress Hanna was efficient and friendly. Great vibe, good music, not too loud. It almost felt like it needed to have a view of the ocean instead of the mall. We went in just for drinks and snacks. Hanna brought us extra chips and salsa, and we ordered a side of guacamole. It could have done with a little bit more salt and lime. Next time, I would make sure that we were hungry enough to try their food. We saw sizzling shrimp fajitas go by and the whiff of the garlic butter was absolutely mouthwateringly delicious.
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
We stopped by to eat here on a Saturday afternoon after shopping around Fashion Valley mall. It is located in the corner by the food court area on the top level. They serve chips and salsa which was the standard chips and salsa you usually get. I really liked the shrimp enchiladas I ordered which are not on the menu, but were recommended by our server. The food was really tasty and I was pleasantly surprised because Mexican food is one of our favorites. The drinks were just okay in my opinion. We had a regular Margarita, a mango stand Margarita, and a Michelada. They don't use real chamoy or tajin, which I think would elevate their drinks honestly. Overall, I'd say definitely go for the food as it was super tasty!
google avatar

Charlotte B.

Yelp
I would only come back again for dessert. We each got an appetizer, entree and dessert. The shrimp tacos didn't have much flavor and were not fresh. The tinga burrito tasted old and was not made with fresh ingredients. The rice and beans were not cooked well. We mostly enjoyed our guac and queso apps. The desserts were our favorite parts.
google avatar

Mel H.

Yelp
What a hidden gem this place is! It is located at Fashion Valley, so there is plenty of parking available. The restaurant is beautiful, and very open. There is a ton of seating, a bar, and outside patio to dine on. I opted for the queso and it was good! It's pretty difficult to find queso in SD, so I appreciated some of the more "tex-mex" options they provided. I tried the shrimp tacos, and the tiramisu as well - 10/10. The portions were great, the food is flavorful, and the service is excellent. This has never been a place I even heard of until restaurant week, but I will certainly be back. This place gets 5 stars from me!

Yelp
I met a friend at the Fashion Valley Mall and went here for Happy Hour. It's in their bar area only. Happy Hour is from 2-4pm. It's a bit earlier than other restaurants. We started out with the delicious fruity blended Paloma cocktails. Ordered the creamy queso to share. It was so good! The carnitas and pollo tacos were also good. We opted for corn tortillas and they were fresh handmade ones. Also delicious.

Yelp
Need to remember this place for so many reasons. Exceptional Service, great food, decent parking, pretty atmosphere and patio. Modern Mex done right. The best rice, crispy chips and medium salsa. Beautiful creative drinks and inventive meals to please everyone. My chicken chimichanga was really great, melty cheese and all the fixings. Dad's tacos looked great with well seasoned shrimp and fresh corn tortillas. I know it's a great place when you are already thinking of reasons to go there and have several options of food to try. Cheese crisps, pork tacos and dessert here we come! Multiple managers came to say hello and check on us. Another level of care for their customers which is so cool.

Yelp
Always passed this place while shopping and decided to check it out. Full warning: this place is not authentic. That's not a knock it's just an FYI to set the base. Started off with their street corn. Sweeter than most sweet corn but very tasty! Cheese crisp (machaca) this was an odd menu item. We were told it was like an open faced quesadilla. It was a large tortilla with way too much cheese on it. The meat was good as was the guac. Chicken burrito was pretty good! The rice was really buttery and the beans were okay but the burrito was good. Noticed that they have pitchers of margs for 65. May come back to try that at one point. They also have tequila flights so that's cool. Service was phenomenal and their manager was going around making sure everyone was cared for constantly. Ambience was pretty cool. Sat outside.

Yelp
This location has had many different restaurants. But Blanco is a great restaurant and I hope they can stay here for a while! Location location location! Park up top on the parking structure and walk over the pedestrian bridge. No bad seat in the house. On a beautiful San Diego day, sit outside at the open bar area with friends or bring your special someone to the outdoor dining area. We had the mango ceviche. Ok! To die for! So fresh and delicious. Ask for extra chips. Next was the chicken Tinga chimichanga! Got it wet with green sauce. I could have had extra sauce but they offer green, red or a 1/2 and 1/2 combo of both. Delicious Sonoran style. The mango margarita was refreshing as well. The rim was lined with chamoy and a smoky salt. Bathrooms were clean and private. Our server was so friendly and the managers were checking on various tables. Overall a wonderful experience. Looking forward to going back!

Yelp
Dined on a slow night. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seats have heaters, so guests are comfortable on cold evenings. I was seated right away and service was quick. I ordered the pineapple jalapeño margarita which tasted bland and a little watered down. At $16 bucks a drink, I expected it to be more unique in flavor and strong. I also ordered the asada fajitas, which were really good. The meat was tender and juicy. The corn totortillas were hand made in house. I also really enjoyed the black beans. Because the fajitas were $28, I expected a bigger serving. It's definitely not a shareable dish. Overall, the food was tasty, but in my opinion, overpriced. I dined alone and ended up spending about $50.

Yelp
I didn't even know this Mexican Restaurant existed at Fashion Valley Mall! We shared the cheese crisp and I ordered the taco salad. Both were delish! I would order both items again. I would deff want to try more items on the menu. Will be returning!

Yelp
It's mall restaurant food. Expected it to be pricey which it was. The tacos were fine. Carnitas tasted as expected. Everything was just enough to get full. I had a coconut mojito that was strong. Had to mix it with a straw to get the flavors going. This spot took over the old CPK restaurant upstairs.

Yelp
Alright we have been here quite a few times now and honestly it has always just been okay not really a spot we are craving to go to but after a busy Monday and a long weekend of being sick we decided why not give it a shot again. Since it is located in the Fashion Valley Mall it is nice to know that parking is easy unlike many spots we normally like to go to where you are trying to find street parking. You can actually park on the same level as this restaurant and walk right over the small bridge and be right at the entrance which is very convenient. We have tried many things on the menu and this time I decided to try to taco salad which was actually really good and much larger than I expected it to be, it was very well dressed never making you feel like you were missing something and I added chicken to it which was the perfect addition. I have to give a shout out to our server Ryan, he was super attentive and very kind, we never felt like we were waiting on anything he was always really on top of it and honestly made our time here feel like we would want to come back, so if Ryan is your server you are in good hands!

Yelp
An amazing find!! *Its in Fashion Valley Mall, so PLENTY of parking!* **Bar seating is open and first come, first serve** Super super friendly service and amazing flavors! Couldn't decide what to eat for lunch so I took a chance on this restaurant after wandering around the mall. A lot of great choices to choose from! Great beer and margarita selection! The Dos XX Lager is a good and safe beginner drink on the menu and you can never go wrong with it! Got the Carne Asada Bowl and it all blends in really well!! The bowl was a lot smaller than I thought it would be BUT it doesn't sacrifice the taste or quality of it! Really delicious! But be warned that it'll disappear really quickly. Ain't nothing wrong with getting another serving! 10/10 highly recommend!

Yelp
Loved this spot! Stopped in after shopping and was able to get a table inside after a short wait even without reservations. Had a delicious savory meal of the warm queso and split the caramelized sweet potato enchilada and the grilled avocado taco entrees. The food was sooo good, especially the enchilada and the sides. The coconut mojito was fabulous addition, and the overall experience was topped off by our sweet server. Will be back to watch games here and get more queso asap.

Yelp
I ended up coming to Blanco Cocina because I had a $50 gift certificate from a Yelp event and had a hankering for Mexican food on Cinco de Mayo! The place was packed and the music was thumping, but the service was still good and the food was delightful. I wouldn't say it was out of this world, but it was solid Mexican chow with some interesting items like rice and corn mixed together. The guacamole was really good, and I ordered the tiger shrimp fajitas which did not disappoint. I'm a fan of Blanco. I'm sure I'll come back when I'm again in fashion valley. Next time I may try something different, but I know I'll be pleased.
