"The coffee start-up Blank Street Coffee has expanded rapidly (about 40 shops citywide) and since 2020 opened three locations within blocks of Blank Slate’s Nomad spot — at 472 Third Avenue, 298 Fifth Avenue, and 127 East 23rd Street — contributing to customer confusion; owners of the local cafe say many people are not fans of Blank Street and accidentally avoid the independent shop thinking it is part of the chain." - Melissa McCart
Not sure why this coffee shop is popular. There isn't a need for a true barista. The espresso machine is a fully automatic machine that does pretty much everything except put the milk/foam on top. Its good for consistency which is why these machines are being seen more frequently. The banana bread latte was decent and would have it again. Wouldn't be in my top 5 NYC shops.

I tried the Daydream and the Strawberry Matcha and both were amazing. I really loved them and this is definitely one of my favorite spots in NYC for matcha. The prices are good, the staff is friendly and fast even though it was always super busy.

Tried the Earl Grey Matcha and Cafe Latte at Blank Street and both were excellent. The Earl Grey Matcha is smooth, fragrant, and well balanced, while the Cafe Latte is creamy with a rich coffee flavor. Consistently good quality and a great spot for coffee and matcha lovers. Highly recommend!

The team is always so welcoming. Great personalities and smiles are all you need at the start of the day. They also move like a well oiled machine. Happy I get to come in rather than order for delivery.

Stopped by to grab a matcha after seeing a crowd a few times passing by, tried the pistachio salted matcha and wasn’t too impressed, had to add 3 cups of ice🧊since it was a bit too sweet for me. Pretty looking drink though. Limited seating and popular spot so expect a wait.

I’ve been here twice and tried two different drinks hoping for different results but to no avail.
My first attempt was the salted pistachio matcha and it tasted like neither salted pistachio nor matcha. Not even a hint of any flavor which was very disappointing.
Tried to give this place a second chance by revisiting and ordering the banana bread matcha and it still tasted like nothing. It was genuinely so depressing how flavorless everything is, especially considering how much you pay for the drink.
It can also get quite busy here so if you order at the counter, you may end up waiting 15+ minutes for your order. I recommend using their app to order ahead to avoid wait times and standing in the crowded shop.

My daughter was raving about seeing some amazing matcha drinks here and we couldn't wait to try it. Of course it's New York so it's busy but we were able to get a seating inside and order our drinks pretty quickly. Everything tastes delicious and the service was great I really like the decor in here.

My first visit to Blank Street was excellent. The coffee was rich, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the service stood out. Swan took great care of me. She listened, paid attention to every detail, and went above and beyond. I will absolutely be coming back.
