Andy’s Pizza Expands to Foggy Bottom — And More Openings | Eater DC

"I tried Blank Street Coffee’s Georgetown shop and found the high‑tech NYC import pouring pistachio lattes, seasonal shaken pumpkin‑spice cold brew, and a concentrated 1.5‑ounce cold brew meant to mimic a silky espresso shot, alongside baked goods and an ambitious plan to expand to many more area stores." - Tierney Plumb

Happy New Year Georgetown Crew! This is long over due... Hi! my name is Naomi and I am addicted to your blueberry matcha. lol I am even more obsessed with the customer service, each and every time, I have entered the prospect St. location, which is almost everyday, there is an atmosphere of positivity, professionalism and kindness that is so rare it's crazy! Everyone on staff should be commended for rendering this type of service, I applaud them and beyond grateful.. You never know what the person grabbing a café or pastry is going through.. Many days my spirits have been lifted by the warmth of their smiles.. keep it going guys!! You are definitely an asset to this brand and I hope they know this location is making a difference in humanity. Blessings to you All, blueberry matcha lady :)

Google
5 stars for the matcha! one of the best ones I've had at a coffee shop. the rocky road latte was great as well! the space is tight and had a line out of the door, but it was worth it ☻

Google
They absolutely made my Tuesday morning! Such an amazing, energetic team — especially Six, who was incredibly kind and sweet. I tried one of their oat milk lattes, and it truly felt like a warm hug in a cup.

Google
I’m a sucker for anything banana bread flavored so the banana bread matcha was definitely the choice for me! It’s a seasonal flavor. The matcha seems to be higher quality. Overall very tastey!!! The lady taking my order was extremely friendly, asked for my name, and then talked to me like a friend! That was pleasant.

Trinity A.

Google
My go-to spot while I’m at work. All of their matcha flavors are so good, and I also love how they do seasonal flavors! Though busy during most hours of the day, when it isn’t jammed pack, Blank Street functions as a great workspace as well! The staff are always super nice despite the rush of customers and orders are always made with great care. They also don’t charge extra for milk substitutes!!!

Google
Awesome establishment, welcoming service. Oonagh, jalyn, riwa, Angelina were great and assisted my sister and I very sincerely. Great customer service ladies! :)

Google
Usually love it but today whoever was working around 11:50-12:15 service was extra slow. We were waiting for over 30 minutes for 2 matches and it wasn’t even busy. It’s been 10x busier and I’ve gotten my drink in 10. The guy was pouring himself a spin drift and taking breaks and the other workers seemed confused. They were taking selfies. Being extremely slow and not paying attention. Our drinks should not have taken that long.

I used to love coming here but my last two visits have been subpar at best. Last weekend, I came to get a cinnamon roll and I mentioned three times to the barista that I had wanted it  to be warmed up. The barista didn’t say anything about it. I had received a rock hard cinnamon roll and proceeded to ask again for it to be warmed which is when I was informed that they no longer have an oven. I was disappointed that this information wasn’t told to me when I asked the ladies to have it warmed up THREE times before I paid. I wouldn’t have got it if I had known. (I ended up warming it up at work so not that big of a deal - just a major inconvenience and something I think they would share with guests.) Today, I walked in and about 4-5 employees looked at me but didn’t speak/greet me. They continued to talk to eachother. One barista was making drinks while the others continued talking amongst themselves as I waited for my order to be taken. A couple minutes pass by and finally a barista comes to take my order. She seemed so upset that she was helping me and it was so odd the way her entire face and mood changed . I won’t be returning to this location which is a shame since it’s right by my job.

Yelp
Drinks are next level good definitely going back asap me and my girlfriend love it there

Yelp
Went to a location in London that doesn't have a Yelp listing. Got the Blondie Matcha Iced (seasonal) - very tasty! Doesn't taste like matcha, but a sweet caramel biscoff drink. And also a Hot Earl Grey Matcha which we weren't as big fans of. But the price wasn't crazy compared to LA spots haha.

Yelp
A while back I got the chance to try Blank Street and I was blown away by how good their drinks were! I was walking along the area looking for a drink and stumbled upon this unsuspecting shop that had a long line so figured I would try and find out what the hype was about. The store itself was pretty small with few seatings inside and outside. Blank Street offers both signature coffee and matcha drinks, this time opting for the special at the time, Cookies and Cream Matcha. I am a huge sucker for anything cookies and cream so it was an obvious choice! The drink was the perfect blend of the rich matcha flavor and the sweetness of cookies and cream! You can truly taste the quality of the matcha and the sweetness wasn't overwhelming at all. I was scared it would be too sweet, like some cookies and cream flavored drinks in other cafes, but I was pleasantly surprised by how balanced it was. I didn't get a chance to take a picture but I did go back to try an espresso latte and it was just as good! I would definitely recommend Blank Street for anyone looking for a delicious drink in the area!

Yelp
I dropped by here for the first time recently without realizing just how popular this spot is! On a Friday afternoon it was brimming with foot traffic but that was not going to deter my mission of getting my hands on the banana bread matcha latte. Although the line moved quickly, there was already a large queue of orders so it took about 10 mins for mine to be ready. But it was so worth it! The banana bread matcha latte was soooo good -smooth and creamy with the perfect amount of sweetness. Despite this location being out of the way for me and congested with traffic, I've already found myself back here twice since I first ordered it. Definitely worth a try!
google avatar

Sue K.

Yelp
I got the strawberry shortcake matcha latte and it was delicious! Not too sweet and a perfect balance of the strawberry and matcha flavor. It was very busy Sunday morning, I would recommend ordering ahead online, if possible.
google avatar

Yelp
Went here on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed with the line out the door. The line went by fast with the workers even providing me and my two friends with cups of water despite the busy fast paced environment, so we appreciated the kindness. We ordered 3 of the matchas including the blueberry, pistachio, and strawberry shortcake and I absolutely loved the strawberry shortcake matcha as someone who doesn't often reach for a matcha in a coffee shop. I would highly recommend trying their matcha!
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by on a Monday afternoon for a little pick me up and got the salted pistachio matcha. It was an iced drink and it was delicious! The staff were all friendly and helpful in making my selection. The matcha was smooth and not chalky or bitter. My drink wasn't overly sweet. There's about 15-20 seats in the place and in the late afternoon it was packed. People I know have been raving about their matcha and now I know why. The make each coffee and matcha drink to order so be patient. They do their best to make each one. They also offer some baked goods. This place will definitely be on my regular drink spots!
google avatar

Sofia Y.

Yelp
A cafe that never disappoints! Every chance I get I will return for that iced blueberry matcha!

Yelp
I was dragged here by my girlfriend. I was just expected "oh, this is just another matcha place, what's the difference" -- but I was humbled. The daydream got me daydreamin bout it because I'm a sucker for cinnamon and this was the PERFECT blend that I finished my drink within 15 minutes. Yes, there's probably a wait here, and yes, it's DC so not a lot of space inside, but, service was quick and nice. I like this place and so should you.
google avatar

Jenny M.

Yelp
First time trying the matcha in this place or business. I was hesitant at first but strawberry shortcake matcha was good. If there's anything I could recommend is to have more options to lower the sugar level. I chose the lowest one but it still a little bit sweet. The taste of matcha is not being overpowered by the strawberry that's why I like it. Pricing is reasonable- my cup is only around $7. They also offer croissant and more other drink drinks and food in their menu. The service was fast, the line was passing their door when we visited but taking orders was fast. It is a small cafe with limited seats inside and outside. Still cute interior though. Parking could be tricky as it is DC, so be prepared to find street parking. Looking forward to the next season flavor.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to get matcha. I don't understand why blank street gets a bad rep. I think this is the only place you can get a pretty legit matcha in the area. I make matchas at home so this one is always a treat when I'm in the area. I would recommend ordering online during the weekends. It gets busy!
google avatar

Kevin C.

Yelp
Came here on a Monday afternoon, line was pretty much out the door - which I see as a good sign. After ordering the wait took about 10 min. Ordered the iced blueberry matcha, which is a first for me, as I love blueberry. The matcha was smooth, and the blueberry was there with a subtle sweetness. I appreciated how it wasn't a diabetes overload. Would come again to try more of their unique matcha flavors!
google avatar

Javell H.

Yelp
BEST MATCHA EVER. I tried their strawberry shortcake matcha and it's so good! Definitely believe the reviews. Great service, great matcha. This is a super busy spot though. The line was so long but they move really fast. It's also really small inside with limited seating. The matcha also is made with oatmilk which is nice that they don't upcharge for milk alternatives. It was $7 with tip I believe. Also the bathrooms were so gross. There's no soap, no toilet paper. It was just a lot going on. Go for the matcha! Don't use the bathrooms. That's all.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my go-to coffee shops in Georgetown. The Blueberry Matcha is unique and delicious; I crave it all the time! They can get pretty busy on weekends but it is totally worth the wait. Seating and parking is pretty limited so I would recommend public transportation or walking. Can get pretty packed inside. Only thing is I wish this location would take online/in-app orders!
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
They ran out of their daydream matcha latte the day I went, which was disappointing, but I opted for the blueberry matcha latte & my bf had the strawberry shortcake matcha latte. The drinks were fine, on the sweeter side and tasted less like matcha, and more like the flavoring. I did not end up finishing the drink since it was so sweet. The line was long, not sure if it is worth it to wait in line for them but it was nice to try at least once. If you are a fan of sweeter drinks (more dessert-like) then I would say you can stop by and try! Otherwise, if you're looking for a place with a drink that actually tastes like matcha, I would probably find a different place.
google avatar

Julie K.

Yelp
Strawberry shortcake matcha tastes like literal cake. I would recommend it 100%. Actually tastes unreal. Doesn't really taste like matcha but I love it. Dream matcha has strong hints of cinnamon and oat milk which i wasn't a huge fan of. Love how all the matcha drinks default with oat milk too!! Line might be long on weekends but goes relatively fast. Tiny interior, few tables so better to take out on the go!
google avatar

Julia B.

Yelp
The banana pudding matcha was to DIE FOR! Just sweet enough and the banana was perfect
google avatar

Mico S.

Yelp
The drinks look nice but nothing to run to grandma about. The lines are super long too. All hype!

Yelp
We decided to get a drink from Blank Street since I had heard their matcha drink was worth a try. We arrived and there was a huge line. As we slowly inched our way to the register, we noticed one of the people working there was on their phone or flirting with a friend making the other two people working to delay the process. We waited over 40 minutes due to one of the baristas not helping her coworkers. I was disappointed and frustrated. The drink was delicious but not worth 40 minutes in my opinion.
google avatar

Judy G.

Yelp
We stumbled upon blank street when we were walking around Georgetown and decided to get a drink from there. I ordered the large Aries Latte with oat milk ($5.95). It has cardamon, saffron, lavender and rose. If I see the word lavender in a drink, I'm ordering it. It was pretty good! There was a short line and there was also a small wait. There were also boxes of cups and lids and other supplies around the area and it made the space looked cluttered and unorganized.
google avatar

Harold D.

Yelp
The Matcha tastes like that true Matcha. Nutty, pungent, and prominent. The White Chocolate was minimal in flavor. If you love true Matcha flavor this drink is for you. Service was quick. Drinks were made quickly although busy. Ambiance was a small cozy coffee shop. I'd count around 20-30 seats so not meant for large parties.
google avatar

Samina M.

Yelp
Beautiful location and tasty drinks! I've always admired the Georgetown Blank Street for its sleek ambiance and outdoor seating. This location has speedy service and quality drinks each time I visit. I especially love the Iced Strawberry Matcha! A great place to get work done or catch up with friends.

Yelp
Stopped by to redeem a cash back rebate I had; I'm aware this is one of those up-and-coming hipster coffee companies out of NYC. The Iced Rocky Road Latte was pretty decent; a little oversweetened but at least balanced in its flavor profile. No issues with the drink quality. My biggest issue was the crowding and wait time; the line was practically out the door for early afternoon on a Sunday, and as a result the wait was more 25 minute just for a coffee beverage. I'm just vexed how a simple new-age coffee shop could be this popular; nothing seems particularly outstanding about the quality of their coffee; it's certainly better than say Starbucks, but it isn't mind-melting or anything like that. I speculate this may have to do with TikTok trends or celebrity influencers, but I'm not nearly pop culture savvy enough to know or care, haha! Overall not a bad experience at all; decent coffee and a clean, pleasant atmosphere. That said, limited food options and a punished crowding situation and wait time do sock it a couple stars, though I'm not opposed to coming back again if I'm nearby to see if my opinion changes.

Yelp
I came to Blank Street on a recommendation that they had good matcha so I could grab a drink before a day spent in Georgetown. Parking is nigh impossible but still somehow probable if you circle the surrounding streets for ~20 mins like I did and get lucky. The location itself is small with indoor seating only but this is limited. You can order ahead in the app to skip the line and the baristas 100% prioritize online orders to people standing in store. Not wanting to download an app, I waited 15 mins in line where I was 3rd in line. They are definitely short staffed, I came in on a Friday morning and there was only two baristas working. Iced matcha latte with almond milk 1.5/5, words cannot express my disappointment :( this was more traditionally bitter than sweetened (totally fine for me) but needed more matcha to the milk ratio to actually be adequate Banana bread mini cake 3/5, this was nothing special, it was small and I appreciated it was in a mini loaf that looked cute but for the price (~$5) and its size, this is overpriced for a basic banana bread loaf

Yelp
Why did I come across a video on TikTok and seen this shop and had to go early this morning for Iced Matcha?! I need to stop watching videos lol I swear it be having you want things you didn't think you wanted. It's a rainy Saturday morning and this location is in NW, DC so I figured many people won't be out and this will be and in and out process. Well I was right and wrong, no traffic but parking once I got close was almost impossible even tho not many cars were on the road. Finally I made it to the door but it's was so packed inside and where I was parked, I didn't wanna risk a ticket so I went back in my car. Luckily, I found Blank Street has an app so I downloaded it and placed my order there and waited until it was ready. The photos and different Matcha and drinks they had looked and sounded amazing! Once the app said my order was ready, I headed inside and grabbed my drink, it's in a convenient area and labeled perfectly. The inside of the coffee shop was clean and well organized. The pastries looked delicious but maybe next time. STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE MATCHA OMGGGGGGGGGGGG! This drink right here was beyond AMAZING & SATISFYING! Dessert in a liquid drink and matcha at that, definitely a MUST GO & TRY!!! It was well balanced and just mouthwatering. Only thing I would've wanted extra strawberry and wish my drink was layered like in the picture but after a mixed it was even better. I'm definitely coming back to try their PB&J Matcha and maybe a pastry soon.

Yelp
Delicious and well crafted coffee. We ordered a vanilla latte and a cortado, and both were great. Service was spot on - they were kind, efficient, and know their craft.
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
No one does matcha like Blank St. The strawberry shortcake matcha is a top drink creation of all time!! While this physical location is really small and always crowded, the drinks come out pretty quickly after you order.
google avatar

Yelp
Hot AF on an October afternoon. Stopped in to cool off and grabbed a Ginger Snap latte. Very light and refreshing! Quaint establishment. VERY CLEAN. Friendly staff. Awesome AC!
google avatar

Julie S.

Yelp
I've been seeing Blank Street all over my Tik Tok and wanted to give it a try. After reading some recommendations from other Yelpers; I decided to order the Blueberry Matcha. I am so happy I gave it a try bc I was blown away. It is so unique and refreshing. If this location was more convenient I'd order it more often! Blank Street is in Georgetown so unless you take the metro; you're going to have a difficult time finding street parking. There is a parking garage next door, but the price is pretty steep.

Faith N.

Yelp
Very crowded in there but expected and drinks came out fast. Strawberry Shortcake Matcha 8/10 - a good amount of sweetness and really tasted like starwberry shortcake - could have a stronger matcha flavor bc i definitely tasted the milk and jam more but overall really liked it Daydream Matcha 8.4/10 (bf reviewed) - tasted like cinnamon toast crunch milk - liked the cinnamon flavor
google avatar

Charis B.

Yelp
Went on a Monday afternoon and there was no wait, and the sweetest worker immediately complimented my skirt. Very quick and friendly service. The blueberry matcha was good, nothing too special for the price but I appreciated that it wasn't too sweet. Would go back to try the other flavors.
google avatar

Tiffany K.

Yelp
The banana bread matcha is so good and not too sweet! It has a nice cinnamon banana bread flavor that is not overly banana. It's hard to get seating on the weekends. The price is misleading though. When I ordered a small iced banana bread matcha, they charged me $5.75 and not $5.25. They said they charge extra for ice, but this drink is only offered in an ice form on the app. Doesn't really make sense
google avatar

Iulia G.

Yelp
My friend and I were walking to Van Leeuwen ice cream in Georgetown, but when I saw Blank Street was next door, I figured it was faith since I've been wanting to try them ever since they first opened in DC. A small shop offering a few tables, they were pretty busy. We were greeted by a friendly employee at the register; however, one could tell that the barista was overworked. She looked unhappy and tired. I'm assuming that is why she wasn't too enthusiastic about calling out customer's names once the order was ready. Hence, bunch of drinks were just piling up at the counter with everyone touching them trying to figure out if it was theirs - gross. As you can see in the picture of my latte, the cup wasn't full. Not really what that was about, but it was like that with everyone's drink. The latte itself was very meh. I was unimpressed and don't think I'll be going back.
google avatar

Love K.

Yelp
Quick service and delicious lattes. I sat at the bar seats by the window and people watched as I sipped on my latte. It made for a nice break whilst shopping around in Georgetown. Cheers!
google avatar

Jesse K.

Yelp
Such a cute place to chill. It's no brainer for me when some place has an amazing matcha or chai. Only downside part is that high top chair is a bit uncomfortable and lots of people takes their laptop to work/study for lower seats.
google avatar

Matthew H.

Yelp
Blank Street is great. There are only three locations in the Washington, DC area. This was my first time going here. The line was very long. This coffee chain has a big following. I see why after getting matcha here. The menu is eclectic, and even the food looked very fresh for a coffee place. Parking is definitely difficult at this location in Georgetown.

Axel G.

Yelp
The iced pistachio latte is so good and sweet, it has that actual pistachio flavor in it. Almond croissant was also delicious and I got recommended to try the iced Aries matcha and dare I say, it was a magnificent taste! Will come back for more while studying for college, reading, etc.
google avatar

Tracy T.

Yelp
one of best, if not THE best matcha ive had. 10/10! got to do sone work here and the ambience was nice and relaxing. will be devouring again!
google avatar

Hanay W.

Yelp
Popped in while walking around georgetown and ordered an iced matcha latte with almond milk & vanilla. The matcha was smooth and delicious. One of the best matchas I have had in dc so far! I will definitely be back to try their other flavors of matcha. It is a tiny store with minimal seating, so I would suggest grab and go.
google avatar

Sara R.

Yelp
After reading good reviews about Blank Street, my friend and I wanted to try it. However, they were closed due to a lack of a business license. So it's closed until further notice. Hope they figure things out and we're able to try it out so I can update my review!

Ameila C.

Yelp
Not even that busy the staff is just so lazy that it makes it busy. Line out the door and 2/3 of the people are just standing around talking
google avatar

Ria D.

Yelp
This place was great! I had been trying new coffee shops to work/study in the Georgetown area, and this is definitely one of my favorites. There's only about 6-8 tables in the place, but I went on a Sunday afternoon and was able to get a spot. I thought the coffee was really good, and they had a pretty wide menu with different options of flavors. I ordered an iced latte with oat milk and loved it! The staff was extremely nice and helpful as well. I would definitely come back for coffee and to study.

Katelyn K.

Yelp
It's a fun drink but it's not great matcha. I had the strawberry shortcake matcha and couldn't really taste the matcha part.

E H.

Yelp
Had 2 different types of matcha- blueberry and daydream. Both yum. Very friendly and quick service.

Sarah L.

Yelp
First things first, that vanilla latte is so worth the wait! The service was quick and friendly but it can feel a little cramped at times with the little space inside. Will visit again soon!

Cierra H.

Yelp
Staff was very friendly despite being understaffed, came in a few minutes before closing and they still served me with a smile. I was recommended the cookies and cream matcha which was to die for. I will be coming back :)
google avatar

Taylor B.

Yelp
I ordered a latte and ham croissant from Uber Eats and ran straight here to say this is by far the best latte I've ever tasted. That's saying a lot as a Georgetown alum who has drank so much coffee in the area. I love that they have stevia as an option which a lot of places don't have. I will definitely be ordering again and stopping by in person one day. Highly recommend! No pictures because I devoured it! Sorry!
google avatar

Hunter B.

Yelp
Decided to try this coffee place and I might have to say this is the best one in Georgetown. They have cool latte menu items but I did decide to try a small black coffee. It was good and the prices all around are better than most other places. I would absolutely come back for more caffeine.
google avatar

Tessa A.

Yelp
Charging extra for ice should be a crime. My fiancé and I have been loyal customers of Blank St. We stopped by today and noticed our total was a little higher than usual. After looking at the receipt, I noticed that they charged EXTRA for ice for our iced latte. When I told the barista that their menu shows that the pistachio latte is $5, he said that our total was more because we got ice in our iced latte. I expressed to him that their menu in store doesn't reflect that and showed me the small print on the bottom of the menu that stated ice is extra. Mind you, this was blocked by the shelf and was very hard to see. I then asked if this is a new policy and his manager (lady with short hair) scoffed at me and annoyingly said "no" and walked away. As a manager, her level of professionalism and demeanor was totally uncalled for. Regardless, charging extra for ice is insane! Safe to say we won't be going back!
