Ah, lunch with friends--a time to catch up, enjoy some good eats, and maybe, just maybe, help the restaurant with their signage.
I met up with my crew at Blatt Beer & Table at the Legacy Shopping Center yesterday. First victory of the day? Easy parking! (Cue the heavenly choir because that's half the battle.) I strolled in a little before noon, met a friend at the host stand, and... stood. And stood. And casually side-eyed the "Please Wait to Be Seated" sign, which, in hindsight, may as well have read "Please Wait Until You Give Up and Seat Yourself." Eventually, my friend took the initiative to track down the elusive restaurant staff. Their response? "Sit anywhere."
Cool. No problem. I flipped the sign for the next batch of confused guests. You're welcome, Blatt patrons.
Once seated, drinks arrived--water and Diet Pepsi with lemon for me. Another Pepsi place. Sigh. But, I soldiered on.
Now, onto the real star: the food.
I've dabbled in Blatt's menu before (chicken & waffles, Dixie-fried chicken strips, burgers--you name it), but today, I went for the Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich with a simple salad on the side. My friends picked their delights: Chicken & Waffles, Buffalo Blue Mac, and another joined me in the grilled chicken experience (with coleslaw).
Service was a tad slow for a restaurant that wasn't exactly buzzing with customers, but honestly, that just gave us more time to gab--so no complaints there.
When my plate arrived, I was met with a gloriously overflowing salad of butter lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and the cutest little croutons. The dill ranch? Absolute magic. And the chicken sandwich? A delightful surprise. Indian-spiced, with a warm curry kick, melted white cheddar, a beautiful piece of butter lettuce, juicy tomato, pickled red onion, and mango chutney. Hello, flavor! Bonus pickle slices? A happy accident.
The verdict? Everyone left happy and full. Drinks were always topped off, conversation flowed, and my wallet only cried a little at the $27 bill (worth it for good food and even better company).
Would I return? Absolutely. But maybe I'll bring my own "Seat Yourself" sign next time.
**Side note: I must quit gabbing and eating so much and take more pics! :)
