Where to Eat the Best French Fries and Tater Tots in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"The hardest part about dining at Blatt Beer & Table off of Walnut Hill and 75 is not deciding whether or not to get fries with a meal (just do it), but which of the spot’s three varieties to choose. Decide between Classic Hand-Cut, Garlic Parmesan or Truffle, then choose adipping sauce to go with it. Good luck." - Amy McCarthy

Dallas’ Best Bowls of Mac and Cheese | Eater Dallas

"Blatt Beer & Table has an obsession with mac ‘n cheese. Diners can get some in bite form as an appetizer, order some as a side dish, score some for the kids, or choose from several “adult” versions. Check out the Truffle Mac with bacon, peas, and truffle oil, or the Buffalo Blue Mac with fried chicken, Sriracha buffalo sauce, and blue cheese. For the serious mac and cheese enthusiast, the Manhandler Mac is stuffed with smoked pulled pork and kielbasa, barbecue sauce, onion, pickles, paprika and chives." - Rachel Pinn

My sus had her wedding on the rooftop and it was amazing! Great servers, great food, and good good vibes! It was perfect! They took me back the next day to have a Bloody Mary and it was so yum!

Google
The #1 thing about this place is the location right by the baseball stadium and CHI Arena. #2 is good service. Staff are knowledgeable, attentive, quick. #3 is the environment. It is fine. Seems friendly and all. Last on the list is the food. It is fine. Not great. Just fine. The buns are good. The burgers are fine. The fried chicken is cooked properly but relatively tasteless. It is all just... fine... It is a bit pricey for average food but I think that is because of location. People having drinks seem very content so the bar is probably good. I rarely drink so can't say. However, the Pepsi mix is actually outstanding. I could possibly swap that out for the #1 thing. Because of the location I plan to be back.

Google
The food is outstanding here. I got the Root Burger (not usually my thing) and it was outstanding. All the toppings were so fresh. Great job. I got the potato salad as a side and it was also outstanding. Prices are fair for what you get. Presentation of food could be better but who cares when it is outstanding and you have great staff serving you.

RES RES

Google
Came for lunch - food was pretty good. Potato salad and chicken strips were the best items. Steak way overcooked and overpriced. Service was friendly but slow. They need a bartender so the servers can focus on serving tables and not doing everything themselves. Wanted to sit upstairs but didn’t see the entrance/access and there was no one to ask so we just sat down. Inside was a nice, bright space. Relaxed atmosphere. Good beer and cocktails but getting more was difficult because of our server needing to take care of way too many people/areas.

High Rise Phoenix

Google
The atmosphere is amazing! The service is above 10 stars! The food and drink is phenomenal!

Google
It was a very nice day so it was nice to sit near the open window... it had a nice patio feel. The food was delicious. Served hot with everything we ordered. The service was excellent. Our waitress was so friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and drinks. Get the Dixie Chicken 🔥

Google
We enjoyed our Paloma & Bloody Mary. And then went for the pretzel bites and cauliflower apps which were great. Finished with a juicy yummy Blatt burger that we split. Without requesting they placed on separate plates with a generous portion of fries. Service was friendly.

Google
Fantastic gastro pub with a great selection of craft beers. The food was delicious and service was great as well. Thank you!

Yelp
We tried this place with the intention of ordering the Schnitzel and Spatzle from their menu....but was really disappointed that it's not available. We settled for the Pretzel bites, Buffalo Mac and the sausage plate. The food we got was good the apps were really tasty. The staff were polite and service was great. The place is pretty average on the noise level, but not annoyingly loud. Definitely another option for dining when in the ball park area.
google avatar

Yelp
Each time we've been here, the food, drinks, and staff do not disappoint. I feel like most the times we come here it's during event so their menu was limited, but this past time I was able to get the steak and fries. My steak was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Nothing goes better with the steak than an ice cold beer, and there are a ton of options to choose from. My wife loves their margaritas, which are great as well. This is our favorite spot to hang out during the college World Series because atmosphere is awesome. But during a normal weekday, it's great as well.

Yelp
We stopped in after attending a Supernovas game at the CHI. It was bitter cold and traffic was a little crazy. We got Pretzel Bites and a beer. The food came out quickly and was delicious. The was a mustard based dipping sauce that was really good and that says a lot because I don't like mustard. The service was great, very friendly and made sure everything was good. We have ate lunch here before during the CWS and can easily recommend the Blatt!
google avatar

Evelyn M.

Yelp
Great location! Just stopped in for a drink, snack and to catch the game. The loaded fries with bacon & blue cheese!!! Yummmm Place has a fun vibe!!
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
Let's start with the Cuban, which I have heard so much about. Wow! This is the best Cuban I have had in town, and the fries were also great. It didn't feel too heavy, and all the different combinations on that sandwich were great. The root burger was also super juicy and perfectly cooked. Even though it is a simple burger with not a lot of toppings, it is still delicious. Not pictured, but their chicken tenders are amazing--I keep coming back for them. You should note that they have a great happy hour menu! The service was super fast, and the place is great to watch some sports or catch up with a friend since they have both indoor and outdoor seating and a bunch of TVs.
google avatar

Maggie F.

Yelp
Stopped in because we wanted a bite to eat before headed to our hotel and out for the evening. We enjoyed a few appetizers - nachos and cheese, pretzel bites, and mac and cheese balls. All were very tasty but the cheese served with the pretzel was meh. Plenty of options on tap ranging from craft to familiar brands. Reduced a star because our server didn't let us know about the happy hour (saw a sign so asked about it after we already received our food, but decided to get another appetizer as a result of the deal).

Kiran J.

Yelp
Terrible. Do not reconnect during the college World Series. Paying 100 dollars to get in...wait in another line for 2 hours is absurd.

Gel P.

Yelp
The reason I went to this restaurant was to try the schnitzel and Spätzle. Unfortunately, the menu is different due to its a game day per our server. So in short didn't get to try it. So check it first if it's a game day menu to avoid this kind of situation. I ordered the sausage one, and it was good!
google avatar

Jim G.

Yelp
Excellent draft selection. They accept cash, unlike the Hilton down the street, and the food is flavorful. Always have the sausage plate...love it. One of my go-to spots when in Omaha.
google avatar

Justin L.

Yelp
In town for the week. Have no idea why I waited so long before visiting. Happy Hour Specials were great. The pretzel bits and Gruyère cheese fondue was that extra little. Chicken tenders had a wonderful breading and all the sauces were on the side. Don't laugh at me but they had PBR on draft. You had me right then. And something even cooler is a beer canning machine at the bar. You can buy a crowler (32oz) and they pour draft and seal it right there. I thought that was super cool. Kinda why I'm here 2 days in a row, now that I know all of the above. Great and friendly staff. You gotta give it a try!

Yelp
This joint is located right at the door step of the College World Series Baseball stadium downtown. There is tons of metered street parking available, within a reasonable walking distance. It has a neat set up. There is the main bar area with a full bar, with seating around it, and dining room seating as well. You will find televisions all around that area. There is also another full bar with seating and a dining area off to the side, which is used for private events and over flow. Additionally, the bar has an outdoor courtyard in the back with seating. It is a nice place to sit if the weather is nice. I came on the night of a big show at the convention center, so they had a limited menu. The staff at the place is very friendly. In addition to their full service bar with signature cocktails, they serve burgers, sandwiches, fish, chicken strips, salads, and sandwiches. I ended up going with the fish and chips. I also got a Spritzer to wash it down. It took about 15 minutes or so to get my food. It was ok. One of the fish fillets were overcooked and very crunchy. The other one was fine though. The fries were pretty good and I loved the spritzer. If I had to do it over again, I would probably have gotten something else. Anyway, this is a convenient bar/restaurant within walking distance of the convention center and baseball stadium. A 3.5 rating would be more appropriate for this place, but that is not an option so I went with a 3 because I felt it was closest to it.

Yelp
Blatt is always a great place for our team to enjoy a delicious, quick, lunch, close to downtown and our offices. They offer a large space with a rooftop, indoor, and indoor with garage doors to feel like you're still sitting outside. They have so many different option for appetizers, drinks and entrees. Service is always quick, and they are on top of beverages, refills, and always checking in, even when they place was PACKED every table yesterday. Parking will be hit a miss, it's just surrounded metered parking.

Yelp
I had a wonderful salad here, delivered by Door Dash. I liked it so much I ordered it two days in a row with a side of 2 pieces of crispy bacon on the side. The bacon really hit the spot the first time. It was good the second time too, but I'll give it a miss for awhile now. Too much of a good thing loses it's charm. The salad was a southwest Caesar salad with romaine, cilantro, tomatoes, tortilla strips, avocado and cotija. I think the dressing is what made the salad so great. Bookguy had chicken strips and fries. He loved the chicken but the fries were just so-so. No pictures this time. Maybe we'll have to eat in since it looks like there's more to that menu than was available for delivery.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
This is a great happy hour spot with good deals on appetizers and cocktails. We did all apps with the Mac n cheese bites, chips and queso, cauliflower wings, and truffle fries. All but the truffle fries were on the happy hour menu making it an incredibly affordable option. Their speciality cocktails are also discounted during happy hour and we all enjoyed our drink of choice. I would probably skip the chips and queso next time. They were honestly good but pretty standard and I'd personally prefer to indulge more in the other appetizers. Our server was also so nice and attentive and it was pretty early in the evening so it was quiet and a nice vibe for post work drink and apps. Would recommend! I will be back :)

Yelp
Had a good time here. The ambiance is very nice even though I came at a less busy hour. The restaurant has a nice open feel and the bar has a cool hung construction. The decor is inviting and I'd love to come here on a game day. Right next to the College World Series stadium. The Blatt mac and cheese was great. I actually hate mac and cheese unless it's done right so I took a bit of a gamble ordering this, but I'm very glad I did. The cheese had good consistency and the pasta was a good length and cooked well. I ordered it with bacon which honestly I'd take or leave. If you like bacon a lot, go for it, but personally I think the bacon flavor was a bit overpowering. The root beer was delicious and I would order that all the time. You should get a crowler to go. Service was excellent. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful and did a good job checking in to make sure everything was going well. Would definitely come back again.

Jackie T.

Yelp
Went to the Blatt last night before the Big 10 evening game. Food was ok. Our server was great. What was disappointing was all the female servers not wearing bras. Now, I am all for women's rights, and I hope they got extra money for being braless. But, I think they should consider changing their name to T.D. Bar at the Blatt. This place is definitely for the college crowd, and old men.
google avatar

Stacy M.

Yelp
My first intro to Blatt was a quiet lunch midweek. Great food and great service. My second visit....right smack dab in the middle of College World Series!! What a hoppin' place. So many people, so much fun! Packed in tight and enjoying every minute of it. Bartenders were smiling and laughing with the crowd. Taking care of drink orders like pros. Definitely a stop on the bar/restaurant list during CWS. I was so pleased to find a Blatt in the Westroads mall. I chose to eat there over all other food options just because of my experience downtown. Visit and enjoy!
google avatar

Andy C.

Yelp
Great place next to the stadium. Was there on a not so busy night. Sat at the bar. Clean and open. Not too noisy, but again not super busy night. Had the the fish and chips. Good fries and the crust on the fish was a little soft but good. Needed to soak some of the oil off the bottom but good flavor. Service was attentive. Would like to try some other menu items. Best part was the Paloma(s). The Mexican drink of choice...that's right...go to Mexico and find out.

Grant F.

Yelp
I greatly enjoyed the blatt this fine evening. I had the chicken tenders with a side of beer cheese soup. Good heavens were they amazing. But.... I could feel the beer cheese soup hit my stomach immediately. I left and blew up the toilet so badly in the men's room that I tipped my poor waitress an extra 5%. I feared that nearly the whole restaurant heard me. Anywho, my experience was worth it and I will come back!
google avatar

Michelle P.

Yelp
Food was good but nothing to shout about, though it was hard to tell with the extremely limited menu. There was an event nearby (which we were not attending) so the restaurant limited their menu to some very basic choices. We'd have gone elsewhere if we knew that but no one bothered to tell us that until we were seated and after we had waited an hour, standing smooshed in around the host stand. Service was good. Ambience was decent-- a little loud but it's got that kind of vibe in that kind of restaurant, so it was no surprise. A policy to advertise that there are only a few choices available would be good.
google avatar

Jessica F.

Yelp
We made a reservation for dinner since it was a Friday night and got sat right away. The hostess informed us that happy hour was until 6, which was great because the last few times I've been here during happy hour, nobody told us anything. I ordered the chicken strips with fries and a Glacial Till Blue Razz Cider Patch to drink. The seasoning on the fries was DELICIOUS and you can never go wrong with Glacial Till Cider, especially when it's from the tap. Blatt is a great choice for a sports bar with plenty of TVs and yummy food!
google avatar

Gretchen S.

Yelp
I was really impressed with Blatt Beer and Table. Our server was wonderful and the food came out quickly. We had several appetizers; pretzels bites with cheese, Mac and cheese bites and queso and chips. Highly recommend the pretzel bites. We loved the seasoning on the french fries. Several TVs to watch the game on.

Yelp
The food was amazing and much better than regular bar food the flavor is amazing ...LETS GOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Chloe A.

Yelp
Love this place ! Came here for valentine's day with my girlfriend. I ordered the steak and it came out a little more pink than I asked for and they were super accommodating. They brought me a whole new steak and brussels sprouts even though I already ate the brussels sprouts. They continued to check up on us to make sure everything was how we wanted it. They even threw in a free brownie with ice cream on it and it was so good. will be going back.
google avatar

Krystle K.

Yelp
The food at this place was so amazing, but the service was not great. Super slow but otherwise ok. Not great for a work dinner. The vibe of the place is super cute and a great hang out spot.
google avatar

Maria S.

Yelp
We ordered the Fish and chips, shrimp tacos, cauliflower starter, pretzels and Mule for drink. The tortillas were a bit cold... but the shrimp were tasty. The fries were very salty, but perfect crispness. There was a lot of going back and forth as we had to ask for utensils, napkins, sauces, etc.
google avatar

Yelp
After eating at the other bar that is closer to my hotel (old mattress). I was pretty excited to come here because it had some good reviews. However, the music was too loud and it made the ambiance ok, but not a great place to have a chat. The food looked good, but was not that good, the BBQ sauce was super sweet and the cornbread waffle was very dry, the fries were not crispy and too grease. They do have a great looking selection of beer. The service was very poor but it was not the waitresses fault. There were only two people mainly one girl running all over the place taking care of everyone so it was not her fault to be short to the point and to not bring you things as fast. So if you are looking for a good beer and a nice place to chill, this might be a good place if you avoid the BBQ.

Frances S.

Yelp
Horrible service, placed order online, arrived within time listed on website to arrive, was told by front hostess, it was not ready yet to allow 5-10 more minutes, went outside came back in at 10 minutes and without even checking she said steak takes a while it will be ready in 20 minutes, then other hostess said let me check and she left as well only to come back with my food. I prepaid, and tipped. BIG mistake! Food was not prepared correctly, steak was well done and cold from sitting, grilled chicken was not correct either and also cold with soggy bun, fries uneditable; soggy and cold. No napkins, silver ware nothing. The worse meal I have had in a long time!
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
Cute place with lots of room and kid friendly. I sat in a booth with my three kids and luckily it wasn't that busy i was able to get our food/drinks ordered quickly. They had crayons with paper for the kids to color and kept them busy for a while. The food came out quickly also and the kids enjoyed it very much. I ordered the Indian spiced grilled chicken sandwich and it was good flavor but I had also paid extra for the truffle fries which I was disappointed on. The fries had no truffle flavor on them and they barely tasted different than my kids plain fries. The beer was great tasting and they had a great selection. I would recommend this place and would definitely come back if I am in the area.

Yelp
Food- 10/10 Service- 10/10... Shyenne and Taylor were absolutely unbelievable in their attentiveness and joy! coming from out of state, you never know what to expect but this was top-notch service. Kuddos! *best paloma ive ever had??????!?!??* Ambiance 10/10- party vibes with family friendliness. win-win! yall have got it right! cheers Go Cats

Yelp
Came back during fan fest for the CWS and had a much better experience. I was surprised the menu was so big but maybe e it will change with the cws starting. The pulled pork sandwich was phenomenal. So much pork!! And loved the fries. I paired with a glacial till cider. It was great. I like the interior of this location but love love the roof top. There's really not a bad blatt in town so you're always in for a treat.
google avatar

Jeneane B.

Yelp
We were kicking off an afternoon of brewery visits and decided to start here for lunch and beers. They have a good beer list and a decent, elevated "sports bar" menu. I enjoyed the two brown ales on tap, both from Nebraska Brewing Company. They have 7 IPAs/pale ales, which is pretty good, and plenty of local options for my hophead husband. I got the Buffalo Bleu Mac and Cheese, which was delicious (5 out of 5, but I would order without the blue cheese next time) and also way too much food for one normal human being. Hubby got the bratwurst and found the rosemary mustard the predominant flavor (2 out of 5) - would have enjoyed tasting the sausage and kraut more.

Norm L.

Yelp
The Caesar dressing was the best ever. Great service. Love Omaha in but just one dining experience!
google avatar

Levi P.

Yelp
Food was very good with a nice beer selection. Would have given 5 stars, but they were a bit disorganized. It took over 10 minutes for drinks and only a few customers in the building with a lot of staff just standing around.
google avatar

Yelp
Like most restaurants, I preview the menu, online, to see if I want to venture over. This menu looked pretty good, so I took the chance. It was a good choice. Sat at the bar and get greeted within a minute or 2. I ordered a double of Screwball (which is now my favorite drink). Unfortunately, they didnt have any fruit liqueurs, to turn the Screwball in to a PB&J. But that's ok. Now, on to the food. Started out with 2 apps. The beer cheese soup and the deviled eggs. The soup had a great flavor. Unfortunately, it wasn't as hot as I prefer. It wasn't cold, but it wasn't super hot either. This could be a great item if they adjust the temp on it. It also came with a small breadstick on the side. The deviled eggs, on the other hand? They definitely need some help. I'm a snob when it comes to deviled eggs. The filling has to have some hint of mustard flavor. This feeling had nothing. Maybe that's why they top it with pulled pork and set it on top of some coleslaw. Because you aren't getting any taste from the egg. This was my only real disappointment from my visit. For my main dish I went with the chicken & waffles. This was excellent. The chicken was freshly breaded and came out piping hot. The waffle, soft and flavorful. It's a large helping. I was only able to eat half and took the rest to go. I would definitely go back and give the soup another shot and try something other main entrees on the menu.

Steve R.

Yelp
Located across the street from Charles Schwab stadium, we decided to head over for lunch one day between games. I had the char-broiled chicken sandwich and was not disappointed. The Indian spice took this grilled chicken sandwich to another level. Sooo good! Service was fair, and the atmosphere was just what you'd expect from a sports bar.
google avatar

Lindsay S.

Yelp
Blatt never disappoints! Reliable bar food, awesome service, and a great setup! Really enjoyed the Korean fried cauliflower, so much that we got a second order. Also best spot for CWS hangout!!
google avatar

Lesley M.

Yelp
We found to get a table before one of the night games, and ended up seated with some Mississippi State fans. This place was packed with fans awaiting the games or watching the games. They were so busy they couldn't keep the canned beer told before serving them. Take note....buy draft on CWS days. The servers were running around like crazy but still provided good service. The menu was limited for these events but still listed a nice variety of choices. My boys chose the Dixie fried chicken sandwiches while my husband, and I chose the char-grilled chicken sandwiches. They were delicious! Perfect, flavorful seasoning for the grilled chicken and piled high with lettuce, cheeses, and tomatoes. The fries were seasoned nicely as well. We will be back to try their full menu for sure!

Jennifer S.

Yelp
ordered Steak and Fries for $32. worst steak I have ever had. Had a funny taste that reminded me of liver.
google avatar

Yelp
Cool atmosphere, great beer list, and decent service. I live in Tucson and while home visiting family, I love to come here for the chicken and waffles. They are epic. The jalapeno cornbread waffle is huge and has great flavor, and the chicken strips are amazing and fresh too. Add the honey-orange butter and the syrup, along with some of the gravy for dipping your chicken? Mmm, phenomenal. I dream of the dish when I am away. Truthfully, I'm so deep into my happy place eating that that I don't really notice much else as far as the service goes. I have tried a couple of the appetizers as well, and all have been good. But seriously, those chicken and waffles...
google avatar

Yelp
Had a late dinner over the weekend. Food was good. Had the smoked chicken nachos and the chopped salad. Apparently this part of Omaha shuts down early as there was no one in the bar/restaurant, on a Saturday night, at 9pm! Would have given 5 stars except for 1) beer selection wasn't all that extensive, for us anyway, 2) cocktail menu was very limited, and 3) their hours were awful for weekends and after events. We were in town for the Def Leppard/Motley Crüe concert and I was fully expecting them to be open after the concert, but sadly they were not.

ashley p.

Yelp
I will never, EVER, come to this restaurant again. Horrible food, poor management during CWS, and absolutely horrendous experience. Go to Rocco's downtown or absolutely anywhere else. Don't give this place your money. Will never ever return.
google avatar

Dave B.

Yelp
My date liked her root burger, so I give this place a 3. But my food and beer ranked as a 2. Not any flavor in my Blatt burger. The cole slaw tasted like it was from KFC. And at $14, it was way too high. What really upset me was the price of my beer in a tiny glass that wasn't full when it was delivered. It worked out to $2 per ounce. And on top of that, the beer was average. My date's wine was also overpriced. The Blatt has gone downhill.
google avatar

Drew F.

Yelp
So after fasting for two days, I was extremely hungry and craving a hamburger. Of course I ate it without the bun. This place is pretty chill and laid back. I selected my usual a seat at the bar and not only was the bartender checking on me so was the staff that was working the floor. Impressive that the manger also came out to check on me and he brought me my food. I selected The "Chopped Salad" it has Boston Lettuce, Spinach, applewood-smoked bacon, boiled egg, tomato, red onion, English Cucumber, carrot, peas, blue cheese crumbles, brioche-herb croutons, and I had Ranch Dressing. I also had the The "Blatt" Burger! Angus Beef cooked medium, brioche bum Boston Lettuce, tomato, Guinness-braised onions, garlic dill pickles, Parmesan-Peppercorn aioli Not only was the service excellent but so was the food. I certainly will be back and if you are ever in Omaha you should certainly check them out. If you do... tell'em Drew sent ya! Y'all be Easy! Drew

Yelp
Came for lunch on a weekday with some friends and it was pretty busy!! I ordered a pick 3 for $12! I got the simple salad, which was so fresh. I also ordered the Blatt burger. The meat was so moist and tender - cooked perfectly; the onions were caramelized and added a nice sweetness; the pickles added some nice zing and acidity; and the aioli was creamy and flavorful. I honestly also loved the way they served the burger with the lettuce, tomato, and pickles on top so you could customize in whichever way you preferred. They even thought to put the lettuce closest to the bun to shield it from the tomato and pickle juices! On the side, I had the fries. The fries were crispy and delicious. I would definitely come back and try one of the other sandwiches!
google avatar

Robin L.

Yelp
Great spot for a wide range of beers and really good food! I was a little concerned about going in for food but wow! Everything on the menu looked really good, I wish I had a bigger stomach because I would have tried everything on the menu. I got the fish and chips and saw all the other items flying out of the kitchen, each looked extremely appetizing! The space is really nice for both large and intimate gatherings. Open space concept is also a huge plus. Beers and food are priced reasonably and the service is decent! Definitely come and check it out!
google avatar

Lauren R.

Yelp
MMMM I love the French fries and chicken strips here! I never thought that a bar & grill place would have amazing food, but I thought wrong. WHAT was I thinking?! This place has a great happy hour and vibe, you can't go wrong. Try the garlic Parmesan fries with the con queso dip... my mouth is watering just thinking about it!
google avatar

Kristin E.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, bartenders had good recommendations. Went with the smoked spinach artichoke dip- yummy! Would defined come back to try more of the menu!

Yelp
Maddie is the friendliest server I have ever had. If serving was an Olympic sport, she would be a gold medalist. Also the root beer is good.
