Great bar! I come here for a nightcap when I'm in the area, as it's literally right next to the Broadway-Lafayette/Bleecker Street subway station.
Whenever I visit, the same bartender is usually on duty. His name is Pete, and he's very hospitable! He's friendly and prompt with service, even during busy times.
There's a vast selection of liquor, and the mixed drinks are satisfyingly strong.
The security guards here have always been friendly to me - something that I consider to be somewhat of a rarity for bars in Manhattan. I don't expect a bouncer to be warm and welcoming, since that's not their job, but it's nice when they're cordial; a bonus, if you will.
Drink prices are reasonable! I've never left the Bleecker Street Bar feeling like I didn't get what I paid for.
It gets quite busy here on certain nights, but also seems to be a hit-and-miss. I've visited this bar on plenty of nights, expecting to be unable to find a seat at the bar, only to discover that things were relatively quiet. On the contrary, I've also walked in, expecting a chill atmosphere, only to encounter a bit of chaos! Just something to keep in mind, according with your preferences (not a diss against the bar).
There's a few pool tables in the back and a jukebox.
The Bleecker Street Bar is a no-frills establishment, but still manages to offer a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere, friendly service, and an ample drink selection. I will continue to be a regular here!
