The Best Barbecue in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"Owned by a pair of DJs (nightclub kind, not radio kind), Blind Raven BBQ took over the Pig Iron Burger Shack space next to Slim’s in 2024. The menu begins with traditional classics like brisket, pulled pork, and hot links and then gets interesting, with items like garlic-crusted barbecue pork ribs, smoked mac and cheese, and raven’s eggs — those are bacon-wrapped jalepenos stuffed with cream cheese and brisket. The bones slide easily out of the ribs, like so many toothpicks in hors d’oeuvres, leaving little garlicky nuggets of tender roast pork for you to savor. On weekends, there are EDM events on weekends in the large parking lot around back (and parking too)." - Meg van Huygen

I was just driving by and saw this place, I am rarely in this area so I turned around and went in. It was Tuesday March 18, 2025 at approx. 3:45 pm. I went in there was not one single customer in there and I should have known especially for a BBQ restaurant this usually means the food will not be fresh. But instead of ordering one single rib and going to try, as I should have I thought maybe it will be different ( I am a former chef, and have also eaten a massive amount of ribs in my life from many restaurants ) so I give myself 0 stars for ordering the ribs and two sides to go for $27 dollars instead of just one rib. The ribs and sides were horrific! See picture. The ribs WERE NOT fresh ( don't try to lie to me ) they were clearly from the day before or even longer. It was if they were boiled and then put in a smoker, then heated up days later. You can tell by the smell, the taste, and the texture when meat is not freshly prepared that day, which these were Definitely Not! Not that it would have mattered, but the ribs were about 90% bone and very little meat. The Mac and cheese absolutely sick and disgusting, look at the picture this was a bowel of PASTE and mush! How old was this garbage? The greens definitely seemed like they came from a can with added seasoning. If they were prepared from fresh collard greens it definitely was not from that day either as the color and smell and texture told the truth. Listen this review is nothing personal and real is being shared in hard love. I know running a BBQ business can be extremely tough but All the meats and sides MUST be thrown away every single day. The only exceptions may be using some of the meat for a Chile, or greens. You could sell you day old meats for 1/2 price, but probably not. From all the reviews either this restaurant was good at one time, people know nothing about BBQ, or even good food in general, or they are flat out lies! Jacks BBQ up on Airport way or Algona to me is great, and Pete's in Kent know how to do ribs jacks over Pete's. Jacks actually gives cooking classes for a fee. There is a reason these restaurants are normally very full when I go and no one was in yours. I just got ripped off $27.

Blind Raven BBQ - A Hidden Gem for BBQ Lovers in Seattle! If you’re like me and you’ve been on a quest to find standout BBQ in Seattle, look no further. I took a trip down from Everett, driven by my insatiable love for good BBQ, and boy, did Blind Raven BBQ deliver! First up, the Beef Brisket Plate. Let me tell you, this brisket was perfection. Moist, tender, and cooked with the kind of care you’d expect from a pitmaster who respects the meat. Each bite was melt-in-your-mouth good, and the portion sizes? Generous is an understatement. Now, let’s talk sides. I’m a baked mac and cheese aficionado, so my standards are sky-high. Their Macaroni and Cheese was creamy, packed with flavor, and had that rich, smoky depth that only comes from the perfect blend of smoked cheeses. No separation between pasta and cheese here, folks! Just pure, unadulterated comfort food goodness. The Collard Greens and Red Beans with Rice were equally impressive. These sides are often overlooked, but not here. They were hearty, well-seasoned, and felt like the kind of home-cooked sides your grandma would be proud of. We had enough of these savory sides to feed an army, and believe me, we didn’t mind one bit. And then, there was the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Coleslaw. When I unpacked my to-go order at home, I discovered a delightful surprise—so much pork that I was able to craft not one, but TWO heaping sandwiches. With every bite, the balance between the smoky pork and the tangy coleslaw hit all the right notes. And yes, we were stuffed, but oh-so-satisfied. As for the Hot Link, it brought the heat in all the right ways, rounding out the plate with a spicy kick that left me craving more. Seattle isn’t exactly known for its BBQ, and I’ve tried enough spots to know when a place is just hype. But Blind Raven BBQ? This is the real deal. From the friendly atmosphere to the downright delicious food, it was worth every mile of the drive from Everett. If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out. Five stars from this BBQ lover who knows good ‘cue when she tastes it! Trust me, you’ll leave with a happy belly and enough leftovers to keep the goodness going.

In the bustling heart of our urban jungle, hidden amidst the concrete and steel, lies a culinary haven known as Blind Raven BBQ. Here, the air is thick with the tantalizing aromas of slow-cooked meats and the promise of an unforgettable dining experience. Our journey begins with the brisket, a marvel of culinary artistry. The meat, smoked to perfection, offers a delicate balance of rich, smoky flavor and tender texture. Each bite reveals the meticulous process of low and slow cooking, a testament to the pitmaster’s skill and dedication. Next, we encounter the hot link, a fiery delight that bursts with bold, spicy notes. The sausage, with its perfect blend of spices, delivers a satisfying heat that awakens the palate. It is a vibrant symphony of flavors, a reminder of the diverse and dynamic world of barbecue. The BBQ chicken, meanwhile, is a succulent masterpiece. Its skin, glazed with a savory-sweet barbecue sauce, crackles invitingly, while the meat beneath is juicy and tender. This dish embodies the essence of comfort food, evoking memories of warm, sunny days and communal feasts. Accompanying these meaty delights is the mac and cheese, a creamy, indulgent side that offers a soothing counterpoint to the robust flavors of the meats. Each forkful is a velvety embrace of cheese and pasta, a testament to the enduring appeal of this classic dish. The coleslaw, with its crisp, fresh vegetables and tangy dressing, provides a refreshing contrast. It is a palate cleanser, a vibrant burst of color and texture that highlights the diversity of this culinary landscape. As we conclude our journey, we are presented with a birthday brownie, a generous gesture from the establishment. This decadent treat, with its rich, fudgy interior and slightly crisp edges, is a fitting finale to a remarkable meal. It is a sweet reminder of the hospitality and warmth that defines Blind Raven BBQ. In this bustling urban wilderness, Blind Raven BBQ stands as a beacon of exceptional barbecue, a place where flavors converge and memories are made. It is a testament to the enduring allure of well-crafted, lovingly prepared food, and a true sanctuary for the discerning palate.

This is proper BBQ in a great cozy spot. I had a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw. The meat is seasoned well, tender, and the sandwich has just the right amount of BBQ flavor IMO. They don't hide poor quality with too much BBQ sauce.... Overall it's just dang good. The slaw is also spot on. Refreshing, light, crispy, and not too sweet with plenty of red cabbage, which I love. Definitely recommended.

Was not at all impressed with the Blind Raven. The waitress messed up our order when we all had the same thing. The sandwiches were great, but the sides are complete robbery. The side of fries was $10 for a small handful of greasy and oily fries. Paid over $20 and left hungry. Wouldn’t recommend.

Every time I'm in town I stop by this exquisite locally owned business. You can taste the time, skill and patience in every bite of buttery brisket, fluffy waffles, and an array of sauces to select from. The kind, and courteous staff are always diligent and Well-prepared.

Killer little BBQ shop. Went in and got lunch around 11am yesterday. Had the pulled pork, brisket, ribs and potato salad. The brisket was on point. Moist and smokey. Real good. Pulled pork was good as well. The potato salad had some big chunks of potato in it, which was awesome. Music was dope, apparently one of the owners is a well know Seattle DJ, which was interesting. Food came out fast and the Pitmaster came out and asked how everything was. Will be going back soon for lunch. I can handle BBQ about once a week. I found my spot here in Georgetown.

Not good. Not real Bbq. The i tried the brisket, ribs, slaw and sweet potato fries. Ended up throwing it away. Such a waste. The brisket smelled bad and ribs were horrible. The brisket tasted like it was heated in a pan or microwave and took forever to chew. Pictures have to be from the old pig iron bbq that was here before. That place was good. Sad to see a place like this take its place.

Yelp
As a Texan, my bar is very high for BBQ. This is very VERY solid pull pork. Sweet potato fries are not crispy, so I wouldn't recommend that, but I DEFINITELY recommend you go to Blind Raven.

Yelp
BBQ: Let's talk about food. I am notoriously hard to please in the food realm, and I blame this on living in the SF bay area in 1999-2001. Those two years were glorious, and every meal, like *every meal* was amazing, from the $3 carne asada burrito in the middle of the night to pad thai out of a truck to the velvet walled steakhouses - I got SPOILED ROTTEN. When I moved to Seattle, I was bummed as the food quality for the most part just isn't there. It's almost always mediocre or meh or passable. Places rarely blow me away where I'd actually recommend them. Today is one of those rare moments where I can say: MAKE THE TRIP TO THIS PLACE. So, BBQ in seattle is, in general, a sad state of affairs. Most places may have the equipment, but they lack the flavor and soul worthy of that gear. Today opened Blind Raven BBQ, and without a doubt, THIS PLACE IS IT. FIrst up, there are three parts to any good brisket sandwich: Meat, bun, and sauce. The brisket was stellar, tender AF, perfectly thick sliced with the fat left on (don't you dare trim that off). The bun was buttery soft, and stayed together when drenched with the final part of BBQ sauce which was clearly handed down from the gods; a tiny touch sweet, a tiny touch spicy, and dear lord I wanted even more. Extra bonus of a few pickled red onions to complete the package. Side of potato salad for me, which I found dill pickle forward, but know that may not be everyone's jam. My partner had sweet potato fries which where decent. Added bonus was the sweet potato pie was eaten first to our delight. This was also opening weekend, so they were sold out of turnkey legs and chicken, and I am happily going back to try those. So, for the BBQ lovers out there, this scores my rare (only third time awarded) GOLDEN GOD AWARD of 10 stars out of 5.

Yelp
Amazing barbecue pulled pork, pulled chicken, great sauce, greens potato salad, sweet potato fries, and you can get a nice cool glass of Kool-Aid in three flavors.

Yelp
I'm always skeptical and very picky about trying new restaurants when they first open, especially bbq in Seattle. Decided to try this new spot Blind Raven BBQ! I ordered the Chop Brisket sandwich with a hot-link and it was very good. Meat was tender, hot-link had a great kick to it, and the coleslaw was fresh! Mind you I'm really not a fan of coleslaw but at times I will add to my sandwich for that lil extra flavor and lite crunch. I made an excellent call. Restaurant was very clean and the staff presented 5-star customer service the whole time. I will definitely be back very soon to check out some more items on the menu. Keep up the great work BR!!

Yelp
We ended up here since there was a huge group of bikers taking up all the space at Slim's; it's next door. The food is good. We all enjoyed the brisket and coleslaw. Fries were hot and fresh. It's casual, order at the counter and then they bring it to your table.

Yelp
Fall apart brisket !!! The hot links had the perfect snap when i bit into it! House made sauces that hit! All the sides are proper but the go to mac n cheese has a delicious garlic hint to it! Love everything I have eaten here!
