It has been almost a month, and I still have not heard from a single manager or owner about the inexcusable way I and my service dog were treated at this salon.
I've been coming here regularly for over a year. During the week of July 12th, I visited two days in a row July 11th for a manicure (with my dog, as always) and July 12th for a pedicure. The moment a gentleman at the door saw me and my dog, he gave us a disgusted, confused look and immediately said, 'Oh, your dog is too big... is she loud?'
The only question he should have asked was whether she is a service animal. Instead, his first words carried a tone and bias that were unprofessional and, frankly, discriminatory. My dog is not even as large as the owner's dog, which has been present in the salon many times.
His comments, coupled with the way he looked at me a Black woman with a Black dog ,made it clear this was not about size or noise. He then followed me into the back hallway, repeating, 'I'm asking you a question.' I reminded him that my dog and I have been here many times, that she is a service animal, and that asking 'Is she loud?' is completely inappropriate.
Several employees present agreed he was out of line. Yet, despite them acknowledging the incident and my knowing that management was informed, no one has followed up.
It is now August, and the silence from this business speaks volumes. This was poor treatment, poor customer service, and an unacceptable way to treat any patron , especially one with a service animal.
