My wife and I went to Black Swan for dinner. Waiting to get seated was the shortest event of the evening, which only took about four or five mins. After being seated, we waited... Server came and took out drink orders, we waited... Drinks came, then we ordered an appetizer and entrees. My wife ordered the short ribs. They were overcooked, bland, and dry in the mouth, despite the sauce. The branzino I ordered fared better. It was flavorful with crispy edges, and the asparagus and rice complemented it nicely. We also chose the lobster mac & cheese. The lobster was deep fried, but filled with flavor. The mac was very cheesy, but had very little flavor of its own.
We chose the lemon breadpudding dessert as our appetizer. Why wait?! 😁 It was dense and semi-sweet; however, the lemon sauce and blackberry compote made it a winner, IMO. My wife was not impressed, but I thought they just needed to be a bit more generous on the lemon sauce. After all, it's billed as a LEMON-flavored dessert.
The decor is very nice, but I feel like their target demographic is the 25-40yo crowd. There's a house DJ playing club music the whole time. Oh, and they charge you an ENTERTAINMENT fee! I assume this is due to the DJ's presence.
In summary, the ambiance is nice, the service is sub-par, and the food is not good enough to make you overlook the high prices. The prices themselves are not exorbitant, but the quality of food you get is not on par with other establishments that serve the same cuisine. We probably won't return, mostly due to the level of service, but I won't discourage anyone else from giving them a try. Maybe we just came on a bad night.
