We sat a while to be greeted by our waiter, and the atmosphere was... different. Tables were very exposed and close together, so when tables were seated next to you, you felt like purses and coats were in your plate... but if I had expected this, I would have been okay. It was just a first time visit and I didn't know the tables were so close (again, they are close:-) ). Food though, was ah-mazing. The pork belly and bison rib small plate was mouthwatering. Our server, once he greeted us, was very good. Overall, really good experience. Between my husband and me though, bill was $148. So definitely on the pricier side.

Arrived at 7:55pm for our 8:00 reservation. Our table wasn't ready yet and didn't end up sitting down until 830pm. Reservations at this place really don't reserve you a table for the time you would like. It basically just puts your name on the waiting list. Manger offered to buy us a round of drinks for the wait which was a nice gesture. For the food, not impressed by the burger. $15 and then add $3 if you want a slice of cheese on it. It was rather small in size compared to other well known burger places. This was our first time here and it will be our last. Strange vibe though out the place from the staff to the other guests. If you're looking for a good burger save your money and try something from the Liberty, Peculiar Rabbit, or Kickstand.

Finally a place like this in Charlotte!!!!! They have combined a butcher shop and casual dining place with very upscale dishes on the same place. Their wine list is extensive and very well selected. It is your one stop shop for making a great meal at home for a special occasion or bring the special occasion to here! The portions, quality of food, and atmosphere can't be beaten. Good place for business meetings, special occasions, casual lunch and have fun with friends.

I have been here about 5 or 6 times and it is always awesome. I have also brought in several clients from out of town and they all loved it too. Pastrami, burgers, salads and steaks have all been served to us and everyone us always pleased. Great local beer selection as well. I will be coming back on a regular basis.

My friend and I had just finished taking lessons at Metropolitan Ballroom and we had worked up an appetite. We left the dance floor looking for a place to grab some food and before we even got to our cars we saw Block & Grinder. It was late and at first glance the place seemed to be shutting down. I asked one of the guys sitting outside if he knew if they were still cooking. He stood up and said I'm the Sous Chef come on in and I'll take care of you guys. I didn't want to cause them to open back up if they were closing but he insisted it was no problem at all. We went in and got seated by the chef. The service was great! (a little miscommunication that ended up with us having some un-ordered fries - not really a bad thing as they were very good) The place looked and felt great! I had a scotch, she had red wine and I had the duck which I've never had before and the bourbon cherry sauce was a-ma-zing! The only thing I would say would be the duck meat was a little tough but it was my first duck so I don't know if they're all like that. We're taking dancing lessons every week so I'm sure we'll be back at the Block & Grinder again right below the Metropolitan Ballroom.

This place has a lot of potential. The menu, atmosphere, and concept are fantastic. As complicated as some of these dishes are it might be a little unrealistic to expect the server to know every detail about the dish. Our server was very friendly, very prompt, but lacked dome basic knowledge of the menu, both drink and food. I don't know it might be unfair of me to criticize. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

The service was outstanding - our waiter was well acquainted with the food and drinks, plus he was attentive. We were here for lunch. The food looked beautiful, but it was a little heavy on the salt - not bad. We had super high expectations. Down the road, we plan to try dinner - steak.

First time visit, didn't have reservations and sat at the bar. Bartender very informative describing menu; however never asked if we would like to order. The hostess offered us a table which we accepted. Once at the table we felt ignored. After sitting for about 15 minutes, our order was taken and the server indicated that they weren't sure which server was responsible for our table. Overall the food was better than average, but still overpriced. Most likely will not be returning.
