we came in with a pretty large group and no reservation, they put us in our own private room! the food came quick us and we were brought thermoses of coffee. the portions were larger than expected, super fresh and delicious and were a fantastic price. the server was very timely and considerate. we never ran out of water and she came and checked in on us often but not too often. please support this business!

Update: This place is so much more than breakfast! They have a huge menu. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, appetizers, salads, wraps...the list goes on and on. Their burgers are one of my absolute faves! Their soups are some of the best I've ever had. But the Reuben! On my goodness! It was amazing. Zachary was the cook and he hands down makes the best Reuben ever. I have dreams about this Reuben! Added some better pictures. It is still our favorite breakfast spot! Food is great, service is amazing, atmosphere is fantastic!

Excellent restaurant. The atmosphere was nice and it wasn't too busy on a Tuesday morning. Chicken fried steak was thick and juicy while maintaining a nice crispy crust. Gravy was flavorful and healthily served. I asked for my hash browns extra crispy and was very happy with how I received them. I absolutely love my hash browns dark and crunchy. I can definitely recommend this for families or anybody looking for a nice meal.

We had brunch at 11am on Sunday. There was no waiting and our server attended to us immediately. She was pleasant and efficient. Our drinks were never empty. Hubby had Boss Hawg omelette, I had Eggs Benedict. Both meals were more than we could eat at one sitting. The omelette was excellent, full of meat and well presented. My Eggs Benedict was as good as I have had at similar diners, the hash browns were extra crispy and excellent. We will definitely return when we are back in the area. As a side note, we have a large RV so we parked in the Cycle shop parking lot nearby. There is also a lot of parking in the parking lot next to McDonald’s on the same side of the street.

Well, I won't be going back. The food was good. But they added $3 to the tip on my card after I had signed and left. What's weird is they billed the tip separately to my card from the meal.

Update: Chicken Fried steak is the biggest and one of the best in town. The 6 car pile-up was very flavorful and filling with chunks of chickenfried steak, bacon, cheese, hashbrowns, egg and gravy. Original post: First time in a long time visit. Wanted some breakfast and remembered this place has it all, all day long. Got seated quickly. Friendly staff. Huge menu. Something for everyone. Unique food offerings in that it's not your typical fare like the corporate restaurants. Had 3 meats and cheese omlette and added onions and peppers for a reasonable price. It's too big for me to finish. It was egg-cellent the next day. She had breakfast skins, which were fried potato halves and wedges smothered in scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, and a whole lot of cheese. And again, reasonable price and too much to finish in one sitting. We will definitely return sooner rather than later to enjoy some of the many other offerings. The carpets could use a cleaning, and some updates may be over due. However, it feels like a step into the past, and honestly, their cooking and affordability are worth the visit.

We had a quiet, relaxing lunch. Never felt pressure to leave even though we were there for 2 hours. The Skylark sandwich was huge. Very delicious, the cranberry sauce had whole berries in it. The turkey was thick slices from the breast, not processed lunch meat. Our server was wonderful. Great place to go for good food.

Yelp
The service was outstanding with Jade as our server! We love it when we get Jade because she remembers us and knows my husband likes salsa and needs sugar-free syrup! The food was so good exactly the way we like it. Eggs were perfect! Sherrie is a good server too! Our favorite breakfast place!

Yelp
Food: a ton of food for the price. The Cabo taco omelette is unbelievable... super delicious. The service was perfect... fast and efficient. Inside is super cool with all kinds of license plates to look at and memorabilia. Highly recommend

Yelp
Went here about 1.5 years ago. Stained carpet, looked dirty. A few people in my group got food poisoning after we ate there. The food was so gross and I did not complete my dinner. I really do not know how anyone likes this place. Never went back.

Yelp
My husband had been wanting to take me here for awhile, he loves the food. We were seated immediately, the servers were very nice but it was pretty dark on the inside. The light hanging above our table had been broken and taped back together, I thought that was odd. Our food arrived pretty quickly, I ordered a country scramble, with spinach, onion, ground beef and cheese and hash browns and toast. It was ok, the portions were huge. In my opinion it looked like they used a huge portion of spinach, and it definitely didn't seem fresh, it looked and tasted like chopped frozen spinach. All the cheese on top melted in this weird ball that was pretty hard to cut to separate it. I asked for crispy hash browns, they weren't. My husband ordered a meatloaf omelet, it had brown gravy on top, it also came with hash browns and toast. He loved it, it's his favorite menu item. Overall it was ok, I'm glad my husband and his friends have a place they enjoy coming too.

Yelp
Food was not fresh. Service was terrible. I had wings that were way spicy without any sauce and salty as the ocean. The wings with no sauce should not be spicy. Ruben mean was tough and had to be cut with a knife. Had to ask for water 3 times. Decaf coffee was ordered. When refilled it was refilled with regular coffee. Wait person was rude. They charge more if you use credit card. Never again!

Yelp
Food is good, big portions, went for lunch with my wife,I am retired chef but always get me the way they slice meat in this case corned beef or pastrami or roast beef, order a Rueben, you can make it easy to eat meat tender if you slice the meat the right way but when you mentioned to the chef and the answer is slicer was broken is kind of funny by hand or machine you slice it properly ,any way ,restaurant is good, and I am going back

Yelp
This place has been around awhile and knows how to do food! Truck-stop size portions guarantee you won't walk away hungry and it is well worth the cost. The coffee is ok, nothing special. To me it has kind of a dark and grungy feel but that won't stop me from going back. I'm sure it is a byproduct of its age. Service was not bad but not great. If I come for breakfast I don't want to have to look for coffee. There were only four tables with guests when I was there so not sure where the server disappeared too. This day we had the Chicken Fried steak (you get 2-steak Patties) and German Sausage (2 full-size sausages) breakfasts

Yelp
Would not recommend this place. The pancakes were not cooked through and the eggs Benedict was not done inside. It's a difficult item to make so they should not offer. The server was very pleasant and brought the food in a timely manner. The atmosphere is quaint and the classic car on display is awesome.

Yelp
I've gone to blondzees for years. With that being said what brings me back is the lounge area. It's got awesome leather old school booths, a nice big fireplace. I mean it's pretty cozy in there on a nice winter day. Drinks are proper. Now as far as the food goes. Well it's definitely just ok. I don't think anything is scratch made. But don't expect a homemade gravy or hollandaise sauce. If you're hungry it will definitely fill you up. Portion sizes are great. I don't mean to make it sound like there food is horrible it's just there is much better tasting places out there for breakfast. Like I said I've be been coming here for years and will be back again. If you haven't tried it go give it a go. Make sure you eat in the lounge area. You have to be 21+

Yelp
If you want to fight for your life in a very real, very physical way, BlondZee's is for you! You'll be batting their pet flies away from your face and food the whole time you're there--great exercise! While the dollar signs show that the cost is inexpensive, the true intestinal cost will be quite high! You're essentially paying for food poisoning. The waitress was nice, but not on top of refills for fluids (which turns out we would desperately need after this visit... bc of the liquid diarrhea) and the food took forever to come depsite only one other party being there. We were upcharged for a side salad and charged a 4% fee just for using card. First time there, went for dinner. The food itself was very mediocre. I wouldn't be back based on that alone, but the liquid sh*ts at 5am before work will really stay in my heart for a long time. Great place to go with enemies. Would not recommend taking friends.

Mark A.

Yelp
The bar where everyone knows your name. Like Cheers. Same chicken fried steak recipe for decades. Old school comfort food.

Yelp
Covid-19 visit. So I'm from Milwaukie but traveled to see a friend. We chose the place. Friend it was similar to Black Bear Diner. The restaurant wasn't super full. We had a party of 5 (1 was a kiddo) Our server was new but she sure did try hard! I felt really bad for the women working because the one waitress had said they had a whole new team in the kitchen. Our wait time was a little long but the food didn't disappoint! Our party had 2 Chicken Fried Steam meals which they were good, kids chicken nuggets, adult chicken strips and then the other got Parmesan chicken... they have really good dinner rolls. Homemade ranch dressing (that's important) Overall it was worth the wait. Again, these were women who were hard working & I felt for them. I left them a decent sized tip. With Covid being here I imagine there are a lot of places trying have staff and also remain safe. They also have a classic car out front and there were a few in the parking lot. This place I would return to! & they also have a pretty big menu. Breakfast is served all day.

Yelp
Was a little bummed out, I am a car guy and was astonished by the car memorabilia upon entering this restaurant. However the food just wasn't it. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it appeared to be fried in old oil and very dry. The gravy tasted like it came out of a can, and the eggs tasted like they were microwaved. My girlfriend found a hair in her French toast too, so that was disappointing.
google avatar

Dustin C.

Yelp
Food was good, atmosphere great, wait are fun friendly and attentive! Nothing more to say.

Dawn F.

Yelp
First time here, only 4 tables with people. We ordered right away, waited over 20 mins for simple breakfast and a hot roast beef sandwich. It seemed the kirchen was cooking one meal at a time. Food was just okay, not very favorable.

Yelp
HORRIBLE FOOD HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE If I could give 0 stars I would ! Everything about this place is horrible from the menus to the managers

Yelp
Everything was greatly distanced and masks were worn by staff. While waiting for our food the waitresses were loudly bantering back and forth. At one point they were talking about one not wanting to leave yet and the other saying "I'm not worried because of customers or anything, I just haven't closed the place up by myself in awhile." With the rest of us (the customers) looking back and forth at each other. Our waitress was very friendly and on top of the game! Always asking if we needed refills or offering condiments so we didn't have to ask for it. The food took maybe 10 minutes to come out. It was hot and delicious! The chicken fried steak meal was just shy of $16 that came with a HUGE steak, 3 large pancakes, a generous portion of hash browns, 3 eggs and 2 pieces of toast! My fiancé who is a dumpster couldn't even finish half his meal! I was a little hesitant on my food as we heard there was a new cook today. The hollandaise sauce for my eggs Benedict was so flavorful and rich. The eggs were PERFECTLY poached and runny. I was in complete shock a new cool did this! So pleased with the food!

Donte L.

Yelp
Called for a pick up order at 8:30 says online they're open till 11. They lied to me and said there kitchen is closed 3hrs before there set schedule they should definitely update there fucking times.

Yelp
Our waitress Kimberly G. was very friendly from the moment we stepped foot in the restaurant and she was very up beat. The food was so good. I'd really do recommend this place for the food and prices as well as the service. I'll be back for sure.

Yelp
We had been here for dinner once before abd it was ok but we decided to give them a try for breakfast. I got the Big Johns Biscuits and gravy and man it was amazing. 4 full size scratch made biscuits with nice thick gravy smotheredon top. I was only able to eat half! I took the rest home to eat later. My bf got the Bomblet which was a 3 egg omlette with Country fried steak pieces with cheddar cheese inside and topped with gravy served with hashbrowns and toast. Everything was delicious. Definitely recommend this place for breakfast!
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch and the special was Turkey noodle soup- The bartender was raving about it so I decided to give it a try... WOW! I normally would've never ordered turkey soup... This was like Thanksgiving turkey, full flavor, meat was perfectly moist, lots of noodles, Rich broth- Ahmazing! And it was paired with cheesy garlic toast which was fresh sourdough bread coated with Parmesan, garlic, herbs and grilled perfectly. First time I've ever ordered turkey soup on a menu, and one of the best lunches I've had in a long time. Well done!

Yelp
What a nice place to have a meal. We were sat down almost immediately and ordered bloody Mary's from the bar that we're just right 3 olives. The food is American and served hot. Love the vibe old American muscle cars.

Yelp
I love going to BlondZee's to eat. They have a lot to choose from, nice serving portions, and the price is right. My most favorite meal is their omelettes! They serve Mimosas and they have a full bar. Their service is great too. Will always go there to eat. You can book rooms for parties too. My friends got married there. Great place and I would recommend it to anyone.

Yelp
I love BlondZees. I love them not because they are the fanciest restaurant in Salem, they are far from that. I love them not because of the high end dishes, because this is more comfort food. I love them because they know how to serve. During Covid, I wanted to get to know members of the church I was now pastoring...and how do you do that? Well one by one, you invite them lunch. So I did. And the lunches were 2 hours long sometime. And seating was limited. But the staff allowed me those golden moments to bond with my new friends. They were patient and kind and the food is solid. It's a lot of food, you never ever leave hungry. Thank you BlondZees, you have a special place in my heart.

Chris M.

Yelp
Quality food, great prices, excellent service. Massive portions, biggest chicken fried steak I've encountered.

Gene J.

Yelp
I dont know why there are so many 5 star reviews. Chicken fried steak was greasy, gravy tasted like it was made with yesterday's burnt grease and then tried to cover up the taste with too much salt. Biscuits were ok, but nothing special. Big portions of bad food doesn't make it any better. We had a chicken fried steak and a Big John breakfast. Not going back. It was $31. Should have gone to McDonald's.

Tammy G.

Yelp
How does your business allow postings like this on social media/FB? I was enjoying your posts about Halloween and photos of your delicious food, but after this, I not only will not be visiting your business, but I'll be sure to tell others as well. Perhaps you should work on improving whatever those ladies were complaining about instead of calling them Karens and belittling them.
google avatar

Holly P.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place and underwhelmed by all aspects. The food was really greasy, portion sizes were ok but not especially big, and it was nearly $20 for just me to have breakfast and coffee.
google avatar

Amber G.

Yelp
Great atmosphere great service great prices my favorite is hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and turkey gravy.

Yelp
Quite possibly the worst service we have ever recieved. Our server seemed annoyed that we were there, we had to approach the counter for coffee and water refills after asking our server for refills twice. She walked away after dropping our food off before we were able to ask for condiments, which also seemed to annoy her. We had empty water glasses on the table and waited over 15 minutes for her to even reach our table. It took over a half hour to get a hot chocolate that was forgotten about and when remembered, took another 15 minutes to get. Food was mediocre at best. We have been coming here for over 20 years and we wont be back. On our way out a different server was taking drink orders and when asked for a coffee, her response was a very sarcastic accompanied by an eye roll, sure. I made eye contact with a 3rd lady standing at the counter, who also looked annoyed.
google avatar

Michael V.

Yelp
Favorite go to place for some appetizers and we'll priced drinks. There is a family atmosphere here that is pleasant to be around, it feels like coming home.
google avatar

Paige S.

Yelp
Food is very average. It's not bad but not good either. The thing that gets the two stars is the OUTSIDE of this place. Gross, dirty and down right disgusting. The weeds in the parking area around this place are HUGE! Looks like a weed farm. In the old gross SAD lava rocks there were at least 200 cigarette butts. The railing? Sooo dirty, chipped paint and just so run down. It cost NOTHING to pull your weeds, clean up those butts and wipe down the grime. Clearly someone doesn't give a crap about their busIness and it shows.
google avatar

Jena B.

Yelp
A friend of my boyfriends recommended this place and all I have to say is the food was complete garbage! I had the bomblet which has pieces of chicken fried steak and supposed to be a country gravy on top. The chicken fried steak inside was bland and the gravy was brown and not country steak all. It seemed like they took last nights leftovers and threw it into an omelette and called it a meal it was disgusting. My kids pancake was better but my boyfriend makes better pancakes at home. The cinnamon roll French toast was ok it was kind of dry though. Definitely not worth the money. Way better breakfast places out there.
google avatar

Kurstee S.

Yelp
BIG portions doesn't even explain it. family friendly atmosphere, Great staff, very accommodating. If you're wanting a home cook styled meal with a cool atmosphere this is the place to go. They have a really cool glass garage with an Old car that gets swapped out every month.
google avatar

Maurice P.

Yelp
I read some previous reviews that criticized service, well that couldn't be farther from the truth. We had a young man named Ben and he was fantastic. He has never been a server before and you would never know it, his enthusiasm was infectious. He is a great addition to this wonderful restaurant. Food was great and definitely homemade. We had the meatloaf and it was so tender and portions are very generous! This place is a gem!

Megan J.

Yelp
Nothing special. It's affordable at the very least but the staffing was kind of odd? And you can definitely see some favoritism with certain customers (older people who I'm guess are regulars) my friends and I were definitely the youngest ones in there and we were kind of ignored.
google avatar

Floyd R.

Yelp
My friend & I went for breakfast this morning, they had been shut down for so long. I was really looking forward to a nice breakfast. I was served coffee, water & our order was taken. After an hour passed & my friend was served many cups of coffee. I asked about our order 15 minutes it came, her order was ok but my Pancakes were so cold would not even melt the butter. I said I do not want cold pancakes, I waited another 15 minutes for hot pancakes when I ask about my pancake order I found out it had been cancelled. I ask for my bill . Paid it , now I will really have to reconsider coming here again. No one seem to care if I received my order or not or even how long it took! Floyd R.

Yelp
Amazing service. Ben was a great, upbeat writer that offered great suggestions when asked. I have been here tears ago when it was Schroeder's. And I know how big the chicken fried steak was.... as big as a platter!!!! And it still is! I tried the Bomblet and it was the Bomb! Omelet with cheese and gravy on inside and half of a chopped up chicken fried steak inside and sprinkled on top of more gravy on the outside. This was a taste explosion in my mouth! Highly recommend but warn... bring your appetite or you will be taking a doggy bag!
google avatar

Yelp
I have been here three times with guest who like the bar area. Breakfast is okay, large portions. Old school large bar area. Lunch is terrible. Friendly wait staff.
google avatar

Kay M.

Yelp
They got my attention at French Toast made with their homemade Cinnamon Rolls. HOLY COW that was DELICIOUS! Came back a second time while I was in the area and had their version of Cordon Bleu, again I wasn't disappointed and was in Hog Heaven with the presentation and was delicious to the last drop.
google avatar

Alex G.

Yelp
I took two teenage boys here and they loved it enough to ask when we'd be back. The reason I'm giving a 4/5 and not a 5/5 is because the food could do with a little more seasoning but hey, that's what Tabasco and Salt are there for I guess. The portions are huge and the staff is on top of their service.
google avatar

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised by this place. We were originally going to the Original Pancake House but it was not open for dinner. Found this place nearby. My son and I love muscle cars (Mopar!!) from the 60s and 70s and the first thing we saw was a 1970 Chevelle on display! The dining area is ok; you can tell it's getting kind of old and dated but the booth was comfortable. The menu was easy to read and had a bunch of items named after cars, which we found entertaining. The menu had standard American traditional items (comfort food). We didn't get anything too fancy and it was good. None of the family complained. We will most likely go back if in the area. I got the chicken strips and gravy. You could tell they were the frozen kind (appearance), but I didn't mind.

Yelp
Not sure why I feel the need to rant about something so underneath me, but this restaurant irks me. My husband and I sat down at 7:30 for a late dinner, and the unprofessionalism seemed to start right away. Waitresses were talking loudly in the dining room amongst themselves while washing tables. One was telling the other how she couldn't afford to get in trouble with the cops because she had a 19 year old son at home to take care of. We just wanted to enjoy our Friday night to dinner and it was a shame we couldn't have a basic conversation amongst the loud bantering of the waitress staff. A family of five was seated near us and the waitress took both of our orders. We were told that the syrup for our soda was being added so it would be a little bit for the sodas. She placed water for us on the table and went her way. Ten minutes later, a lady who I can only assume was management came out with the waitress who had seated us. She went to the family of five sitting near us, and proceeded to tell them that they were closing in 15 minutes and that they had to leave. The family humbly asked if the cook in the back could throw something together for a to-go order, as they were very hungry. The lady refused to accommodate their request and reiterated herself, telling them they had to leave because they close in fifteen minutes. The family asked the lady if they had to pay for their drinks that had been set before them minutes before. The waitress just shook her head and proceeded to clear the beverages around the table including the tipsy cup from the toddler. All I can think is that, Blondeez Restaurant must have a couple million or so tucked away somewhere to be able to turn away business profits like that, and to be able to close their doors at 8pm on a Friday too. I mean they have to be rolling in dough to be able to afford to do something like that. I was cringing for this family the entire time, and can't help but wonder why we weren't kicked out of the restaurant having been seated maybe two or three minutes before the family of five. However, not gonna lie, after having been served the awful food we were served, I am kind of low key jealous that we weren't kicked out as well. Anyways, waitress came back about ten minutes later with our food. I asked if we still had our sodas coming and she proceeded to tell me that, we were gonna have to scratch the sodas because the bar was slow tonight and they wouldn't have enough time to finish putting the syrups in the soda machine. We went with it and said ok that the water would be fine. We were then served our food a little bit after that. The eggs Benedict were gross and the hollandaise sauce tasted like chicken stock mixed with loads of melted butter. I ordered the soup of the day, thinking it would be this amazing chowder that the cook had put together with love from scratch, but I was very disappointed to find that it was not so. I kind of get the idea that the clam chowder was made from leftover country gravy from perhaps earlier in the day. It was almost like they had a bit of clam chowder left over and decided to mix it in with leftover gravy so as to increase the contents of the bowl, and to prevent waste. My husband liked the meatloaf and mashed potatoes though so I guess the food wasn't 100% awful. I'm sure if we could get #GordonRamsay on board, this restaurant could improve their food and customer service skills. And sorry but not sorry, one glass of water is not enough to get down horrid chunky food. For the kicker, as we were leaving the restaurant, we hear a commotion and waitresses riled up and heading every which way because a fight in the bar has escalated and people are now throwing punches. Needless to say we peeled on out of there and have no plans to give this restaurant a second chance. On the outside it looks like it has potential, it has a beautiful old car inside a glass garage, and truly looks like any other welcoming friendly home town diner. Yet take it from me firsthand, it is what's on the inside that is truly irksome. Money spent better elsewhere, for better service and better food. P.S I see that the owner/or management responds to reviews, and read on a previous post that they will take reviews down if they don't like. Dear management/owner please feel free to take down my review, but please refrain from responding to my review. You do not have to explain your poor food quality and your poor customer service. Please just improve upon it. Who am I to judge you? Right? Well I'm nobody, just a super unsatisfied customer who was extremely disturbed by the experience at your restaurant tonight, and somebody who felt the need to write a super long review in the hopes that you might make changes. I also feel like you might be loosing customers who see the same things and eat the same things I saw and ate tonight. Thanks for reading, and I do mean this in the best way possible.

Yelp
Wished we could've actually tried this place! First visit we waited over 25 minutes for the next table only to be cut in line by elderly regulars! Nice of them to treat the elderly with such respect but we turned around and left immediately since we had 2 toddlers.

Yelp
Our first time at BlondZee,s. Arrived at 11:20AM for breakfast. Wasn't served until almost 12:45. No apology, no "let me check for you". 2 tables left because they had been waiting 1-1/2 hours for their food. If they knew they were that backed up, they should have said something as they were sitting us. The funny thing is we got a table immediately. The place was full but not over-crowded. No one was waiting for a table. We only ordered breakfast. Just eggs, toast and hash browns. No meat. Our first time will likely be our last time.

Collin E.

Yelp
Love their vibe and setup. The seats and tables have a specific nostalgic feel to it, that I thoroughly enjoy. Love the separation from bar to restaurant, thats a cool design.

Yelp
Nothing special. Breakfast is typical greasy spoon. We've had the pancakes a few times and they're always rubbery. Dinner is less than average greasy spoon. They are always super nice, prices are reasonable, place is clean. Ok if you just need something to fill your tummy.

Yelp
Best chicken fried steak around this area! Very good! #blondzees I would recommend it!

I've been eating here since 1978. In the past it has been delicious. The, what used to be delicious and tender "Chix Fried Steak", is now the worst piece of beef I paid $16 for. Four weeks ago I stopped by for lunch, ordered a burger and decided to try the potato salad, since the hostess /server said it was his Grandmothers recipe. The first bite full I could tell it was turned. It felt like it was carbonated and had a really off taste. I told the server my concerns, he argued with me, I told him to go in the kitchen and try it!,, guess what, it was bad... Both times I brought these to his attention, he has argued with me both times. When I told him about the steak, he informed me that they tenderize them very well. It was so tough I couldn't even chew it. And my knife could hardly cut it. He took our bill and said he would be happy to make an adjustment, brought the bill back, he had put a yellow line thru my food price. I then asked him what that meant.... I had been given a %10 discount on my $16 meal... never again...
