Not sure why I feel the need to rant about something so underneath me, but this restaurant irks me.
My husband and I sat down at 7:30 for a late dinner, and the unprofessionalism seemed to start right away. Waitresses were talking loudly in the dining room amongst themselves while washing tables. One was telling the other how she couldn't afford to get in trouble with the cops because she had a 19 year old son at home to take care of. We just wanted to enjoy our Friday night to dinner and it was a shame we couldn't have a basic conversation amongst the loud bantering of the waitress staff. A family of five was seated near us and the waitress took both of our orders. We were told that the syrup for our soda was being added so it would be a little bit for the sodas. She placed water for us on the table and went her way. Ten minutes later, a lady who I can only assume was management came out with the waitress who had seated us. She went to the family of five sitting near us, and proceeded to tell them that they were closing in 15 minutes and that they had to leave. The family humbly asked if the cook in the back could throw something together for a to-go order, as they were very hungry. The lady refused to accommodate their request and reiterated herself, telling them they had to leave because they close in fifteen minutes. The family asked the lady if they had to pay for their drinks that had been set before them minutes before. The waitress just shook her head and proceeded to clear the beverages around the table including the tipsy cup from the toddler. All I can think is that, Blondeez Restaurant must have a couple million or so tucked away somewhere to be able to turn away business profits like that, and to be able to close their doors at 8pm on a Friday too. I mean they have to be rolling in dough to be able to afford to do something like that. I was cringing for this family the entire time, and can't help but wonder why we weren't kicked out of the restaurant having been seated maybe two or three minutes before the family of five. However, not gonna lie, after having been served the awful food we were served, I am kind of low key jealous that we weren't kicked out as well. Anyways, waitress came back about ten minutes later with our food. I asked if we still had our sodas coming and she proceeded to tell me that, we were gonna have to scratch the sodas because the bar was slow tonight and they wouldn't have enough time to finish putting the syrups in the soda machine. We went with it and said ok that the water would be fine. We were then served our food a little bit after that. The eggs Benedict were gross and the hollandaise sauce tasted like chicken stock mixed with loads of melted butter. I ordered the soup of the day, thinking it would be this amazing chowder that the cook had put together with love from scratch, but I was very disappointed to find that it was not so. I kind of get the idea that the clam chowder was made from leftover country gravy from perhaps earlier in the day. It was almost like they had a bit of clam chowder left over and decided to mix it in with leftover gravy so as to increase the contents of the bowl, and to prevent waste. My husband liked the meatloaf and mashed potatoes though so I guess the food wasn't 100% awful. I'm sure if we could get #GordonRamsay on board, this restaurant could improve their food and customer service skills. And sorry but not sorry, one glass of water is not enough to get down horrid chunky food. For the kicker, as we were leaving the restaurant, we hear a commotion and waitresses riled up and heading every which way because a fight in the bar has escalated and people are now throwing punches. Needless to say we peeled on out of there and have no plans to give this restaurant a second chance. On the outside it looks like it has potential, it has a beautiful old car inside a glass garage, and truly looks like any other welcoming friendly home town diner. Yet take it from me firsthand, it is what's on the inside that is truly irksome. Money spent better elsewhere, for better service and better food.
P.S I see that the owner/or management responds to reviews, and read on a previous post that they will take reviews down if they don't like. Dear management/owner please feel free to take down my review, but please refrain from responding to my review. You do not have to explain your poor food quality and your poor customer service. Please just improve upon it. Who am I to judge you? Right? Well I'm nobody, just a super unsatisfied customer who was extremely disturbed by the experience at your restaurant tonight, and somebody who felt the need to write a super long review in the hopes that you might make changes. I also feel like you might be loosing customers who see the same things and eat the same things I saw and ate tonight. Thanks for reading, and I do mean this in the best way possible.
