The Best Restaurants in Old Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Three years since its opening in the historic quarter, Bloom Sushi is well-known as one of the best vegan sushi spots in town. The menu appears at first glance like that of any traditional Japanese restaurant (think: maki, nigiri, tempura), but its creative ingredients make it stand out from the rest. Also on offer are a range of sake- and kombucha-based cocktails." - Eater Staff

absolutely recommend! this really was all around a great experience. we shared the tasting menu and our server was wonderful and very informative of the meal, the sushi was so flavourful and hard to believe it was vegan. i had the margarita and it was perfect! we ended the meal with the brownie and rhubarb sauce, which had wonderful texture and flavour! on top of all this, the restaurant has a beautiful ambiance!!

We had a great experience at Bloom. The service was fast and friendly and the food was very good. Great option for vegans and meat eaters alike. I also found the prices very reasonable, $60 for 4 course omakase for 2 people.

Went for Valentine’s Day and was honestly a bit disappointed. I’ve been to their old port location which I LOVED so that is why we decided to book it to celebrate but this was not the experience I remember and loved. Both locations have great decor and ambience, this one is right on busy St. Catherine’s but they have done a good job at hiding that fact and making it a nice experience. The service was good, nothing exceptional but definitely nothing to complain about. The food is unfortunately the negative in this review. The only notable dish of this meal was the arancini which was very tasty! The others were nothing special with some of them even tasting bad. Keep in mind that we were served a set menu for the night so I would be happy to update this review at another time. I hope that it was just the case of a bad set menu which was both expensive and not tasty!

A decent experience there for valentines. The atmosphere and service was nice and they’ve done a great job with the space and the restaurant decor. The valentines dinner was okay, some parts of the meal I personally didn’t like, others were okay, and certain dishes delicious. The entree was decent, a few too many sushi’s had beets for my liking but overall it was good. The appetizer rice balls(I forget their name) were delicious but the “salmon” not very good. I’m definitely willing to go back and adjust my rating, I’ve eaten at their other location before and it was amazing I just didn’t think the valentines menu was great.

Insane experience! Right off the bat, the restaurant is gorgeous, the service is super kind and the food is delicious! I was recommended by a vegan friend and it did not disappoint!! Amazing flavours, that left us wondering how they did it. We also were both full after the dinner! I’ll definitely be back!

I was looking for a nice restaurant to catch up with my vegetarian friend and this was a pleasant surprise! The food presentation and overall ambiance of the restaurant are great. The ingredients also feel very fresh.

Bloom Sushi is a standout spot for vegan sushi lovers. The restaurant offers an excellent variety of vegan sushi options that are both creative and delicious. The atmosphere is stylish and inviting, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. It’s also conveniently located, adding to its appeal. The staff are warm and friendly, providing attentive service that enhances the dining experience. Overall, Bloom Sushi delivers delicious food in a great setting, making it a must-visit for anyone on a plant-based diet—or just looking to try something fresh and flavorful.

I had high hopes, but unfortunately, I was disappointed with this restaurant. The sushi was decent but not outstanding. It was also quite expensive, considering the sushi is vegan. At a similar quality non-vegan sushi restaurant you can find better vegetarian sushi for cheaper. The advantage of this restaurant is that there are many more vegan options of course. I was also disappointed by the cleanliness level of the table and utensils. Overall, the sushi is good if you’re looking for a vegan restaurant but not amazing or worth the price in my opinion.
