Bloomfield Saturday Market

A delightful market with produce, honey, flowers, street food, kombucha, maple syrup, spices, live music. I enjoyed watching all the children and the parade of dogs. There were a nice variety of vendors. It had a happy feel to it.

Wonderful market with a balance of vendors selling fresh fruit and produce, hot food (gyros, tacos, biscuit breakfast sandwiches), amenities (local made soaps, seasonings, and spirits), and other enticing edibles (frozen local bulk meat, coffee beans, cold drinks and teas, and cheeses and spreads). In the summer, this is our "go-to" grocery stop, and then we fill in anything else we need from the grocery store. It is fun to watch the seasonal foods come and go at each vendor stall and chat with the friendly proprietors. Lots of good people watching! There are portable toilets on site. Level entry for accessibility. Not a lot of shade! It can get hot. There are a few seats and tables here and there to rest or enjoy a snack.

A foodie’s go-to market for local farm produce and local small bakeries. 😎😎😎. It’s great to see that it’s going on even in winter (mild Pittsburgh winter). Several of the businesses are truly remarkable. RECOMMENDED: — PITTSBURGH PIE GUY: whoever he is, he knows pies 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩… Both savory and sweet. Being spoilt of Brit pies, this is a great source of savories. — WILD RISE BAKERY: excellent source of breads, their seeded multigrain is very highly nutritious 😎😎😎😎😎unlike the usual high calorie highly processed breads in this town. — COLDCO: a fantastic source of fresh vegetables. Great to see greens in the winter👍👍👍👍👍. — REAL FUNGI: superb source of mushrooms. It’s surprisingly pleasant to see FRESH morels and blue oysters in the winter👏👏👏👏👏.

I just moved to Bloomfield and this is the prime spot for produce, fun, and getting to know the community. My boyfriend and I come by every Saturday and our favorite place is Sam Market- they have the best Mediterranean food! Their Gyros are so good- they fill them up with so much meat. They also share free samples and we love their baba ganoush! They are the best for lunch. Also all the other produce is amazing - we have learned about so many other vegetables and fruits we didn’t even know existed and it helps us with new recipes during the week. The parking is great along liberty, plus it’s very LGBTQIA+ friendly which is nice and comfortable being in public. This is the best thing on Saturdays- check it out

Good selection of produce, meats, dairy, foods, and other types of merchandise for sale. Special entry for those unable to stand, senior citizens, and immuno compromised. Early entry permitted for those people at 8:45. Must wear mask. No touching of produce, no eating on site. You must order from the seller and they will bag your selection. Ready made items now prepackaged. Must follow one way circuit. Market now has own website where you can order in advance. Likewise certain vendors permit you to order online ahead of market and pickup there. Definitely go this route to avoid lines! Arrive early to avoid wait times. On street parking readily available.

I absolutely love the Bloomfield Saturday Market. This is a staple of the Bloomfield community, and it's the perfect way to start your Saturday morning. All the vendors are great, and I always have such an amazing haul of fresh produce and other food whenever I stop by. Even in the winter months when the market goes to the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month, the vendors and their offerings are still worth the visit. Love!

A variety of sellers, A few of them enjoy letting customers try what they are selling. You can ask if they are using a voucher. They also pass out bags to use for your your purchase. Hope you enjoy😁

Of all of the various farmers market locations in PGH, Bloomfield has to be the best! I recommend going on the earlier side because the lines can get pretty long after around 10:30am. There is a very wide selection of produce - I recommend doing a lap around before buying to scope out what looks best! There's also some great vendors for things like middle eastern food, freshly made breakfast sandwiches, and breads and baked goods. The wide variety of vendors is what sets the Bloomfield market apart from other locations (Squirrel Hill, Lawrenceville).

This was a delightful little stop to pick up a dinner picnic for our hotel that evening. This cozy little grocery features a variety of locally sourced ingredients, prepared foods and widely sourced goods (aka from outside of VT). We ended up gathering a turkey wrap, broccoli cashew salad, and tomatoes for our dinner. They also sold a variety of soups and salads, kombuchas, fresh cut flowers, oats for breakfast and more. The broccoli cashew salad was fresh and delicious. I was a little bummed that the Turkey was but fresh cut and appeared to have preservatives/lunch meat texture. The staff we encountered were friendly and it was a great visit overall.

My weekly haunt-- I've tried many a local farmers markets and this has beat out Lawrenceville, East Liberty, etc. Logistics: The market is weekly on Saturdays 9-1PM and biweekly in the winters. Super walkable and right on the Liberty Ave bus routes. Decent street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. Every stall I've been takes cash and card. Offerings: seasonal veggies, meats, mushrooms, premade foods, elotes, tamales, local craft beer, honey, pickles, flowers, breads, pies, etc. It's not the cheap market I'm used to from back home, but the veggies specifically are well priced for the amount you get. I drop by for poblanos, Dino kale, and broccoli every week. Bring your dogs and take a stroll

Love this market! Went for the first time two weeks ago and then had to come back the next week I enjoyed it so much! The selection is excellent, from meat, to veggies, to orchard items, to dog goodies (market itself or pup friendly as well)! For a bonus not seen at every market there are a few hot item vendors so you can grab breakfast or lunch for while you peruse or to take and enjoy after you shop. Also love that it stays open until mid November (23rd this year!)! My favorite buys: 1:11 Juice, Kyle's Buckeye Cheesecake, Southern Kitchen Chicken and Dumpling Soup, and Sprezzatura Dogscotti! I don't remember the name of the vendor with the Agua Fresca but also YUM! Disappointing aspects are that not every vendor is there every week, a couple places have fees for use of credit cards (this is inconsistent and not always clearly marked). I still haven't been able to locate the free parking but I do believe that's user error :). Absolutely one of my new fall stop in staples!

Great produce, flowers and bread market. Kind of a classic neighborhood farmers market with 2-3 options for brekkie/coffee, lots of produce stalls, some meat, honey, and prepared food vendors. It does have one gluten free bakery option which is nice. I tried the biscuit sandwich for breakfast and it was delicious! The biscuit was so moist and perfectly baked. It's a four not a five because the market is relatively small. Perfect for grabbing fresh produce and a quick bite but no boutique vendors and not a ton of options.

We're so lucky to have such a thriving market in our city neighborhood. I love that it goes into the winter as well, allowing us to continue to make purchases from some of our favorite local vendors and farmers. Always a great variety of foods and more. This market is well-run, executed for ease of navigation and is a staple in our community.

Every now and then, I find a hidden treasure among the most ordinary places. As a senior volunteer, I could have my choice of assignments, since there are a lot of organizations that operate mainly on the weekends. I stumbled on this place while looking to help a worthy cause. I got a choice assignment; counting people coming in at the far side of the lot. Having been there now for what has become my 2nd season, I think I have a pretty good handle on this event. I've been to a large number of these types of things over the course of my life, from roadside stands to huge flea markets. This one never lets me down in terms of the good people perspective. Everyone, from the volunteers to the vendors to the guests seem to come and go in high spirits. This market attracts a vast cross section of people from every demographic. There are a few, in each category, who come and go, but for the most part these people are committed to the event as it is. There are a few staples, and as small as the weekly event is, people look forward to seeing the people they consider friends. The goods change as the season progresses and the prices aren't the bargain basement, but the quality of the goods and the people are 1st rate. There is a coffee vendor that is always busy chatting with her customers, a mushroom vendor that forages for his own stock in the Laurel Highlands, and local meats and vegetables, harvested within a few miles of the site. There are several bakers that seem to sell out every week, regardless of the amount of stock they bring with them. There is beer here and other libations. A local practitioner gives free chair massages and there are specialty items, such as smoked trout. Of course, there are a few farms represented, and each seems to have their own unique array of items. There are a couple that seem to focus on apples, including cider, and some different food choices. One of the best is a small stall that happily hands out samples of their gyro meat, cut from the large spinning roaster. Being one that looks forward to and appreciates Greek food festivals, this stand with grape leaves and baklava stands out in terms of quality and pricing. I'm used to paying $10 or $12 gyros from these events, but you get quality here for just $8. The vegetables are fresh and the tzatziki homemade. You can find quality soups frozen for you to take home and enjoy, cookies and even authentic Mexican street corn. There is a great cross section of life here. Get here early, since the most popular items often sell out. Whatever you're looking for, from cheese and soaps to specialty teas to drink while you browse, someone here has it. The most important thing this market offers is smiles. Well, that and dogs of every kind, from huge great Danes to tiny Chihuahuas, all on leashes and well behaved. Come out and check it out. Say hello to Annie and Heather, who seem to be ever present from open to close, running things. You'll find a lot more than produce here. You'll find friends.

This is a great Farmers Market! My fav stands to shop at are Hello Hummus (roasted veggie hummus is my fav), Mediterra (for whole wheat sourdough), Wise County Biscuits (for breakfast), and most of the produce stands. Prices are reasonable and there is always a good selection. The people running the market are always very friendly and pleasant. I am anxiously waiting for more things to be in season like tomatoes and cucumbers. In the meantime they still have a good selection of greens, beets, garlic scapes, and this past week strawberries! I love being able to support so many local businesses at one time!

Very nice market that has a lot of fresh vegetables/produce for sale. Lots of local vendors as well. We bought some beer, dried flowers, focaccia and seasonal veggies! It's dog friendly since it's all outdoors. Not too many ready to eat places and note there are usually longer lines/a wait for them. Next time will definitely be checking out the locally made cheeses!

Tons of vendors! Definitely check this farmers market out for the freshest of fresh. Many options for Greg fruits and veggies as well as a variety of home baked good, prepared food, flowers, coffee, tea, home gifts, and more! Plenty of street parking, pay and free.

In the world of Co-Vid 19 many things have changed including farmer's markets. This was my first visit to the Bloomfield market and I was pretty impressed. I like the fact that you can preorder many of your items in advance either through the vendor's website or the market's only website ahead of time. Makes it easier knowing I have prepaid. Also new at this market is an entrance for people unable to stand for long periods of time. I arrived fairly early and spoke to some people from the information booth before they opened. They actually have two entrances for people who can't stand for lengthy periods and they also let you use it if you are a senior citizen or immune challenged. They will let you in 15 minutes before the market opens which means instead of at 9 you can go in at 8:45. There is a long queue set up before the market opens and set up for social distancing. Masks are required and there is a "no touch" policy in place. Likewise if you order premade foods you are not allowed to consume it on the premises. You can eat it once you leave. Once inside many of the vendors are easy to spot. If you plan to purchase from a particular one then you must stand in a "line" and social distance yourself from others in that same line until you are called forward. Most places accept cards, cash, and SNAP (AKA-Food stamps) but if you are in a bind over the method of payment then the people at the information desk will help you and convert you cash into "bucks" you can use in the market. The market follows a one way directional path and once finished you are allowed to complete the circuit again if there is a particular vendor you wish to come back to. They limit crowd capacity by allowing one person in when one person leaves. So if you want a minimal wait then get there before it opens. I tried to choose some of the vendors that had long lines. I started with a produce one which didn't seem to have their name displayed and bought sweet peaches, corn on cob, fresh zucchini and green beans. I worked my way over to Wise Country biscuits and although their sandwiches looked good I purchased a dozen of their frozen biscuits and peach jam. I'm sure I will be pleased with these biscuits since they are made from scratch and I heard so much about them. Perhaps my favorite vendor was "Old Time Farm" located in Mercer, PA. They sold salmon burgers which I preordered. Salmon burgers are hard to come by and I was thrilled with the chance to pick up my order. Since this was preordered it was carefully bagged and ready to go. I also had ordered an anadama bread and blueberry peach trifle from Crust worthy. It is a thick bread and is very filling. In addition to food vendors including a Greek food stand, there are other merchants selling plants, apothecary goods, soaps, and even a sew repair stand that also sells their own masks. Place can be pricey but you are paying for fresh from the farm. The only downside is that you got to take what you see and hope that what you get isn't overripe. I did get to talk with the staff after my visit and thy appreciated some of my recommendations such as granting seniors and immuno challenged individuals at least 30 minutes ahead of time and a designated entrance for them I'm hoping to come back in the future. Got a "shrub" tea drink from Gryphon's tea on my way out-delicious! Located in the outdoor parking lot of West Penn hospital in Bloomfield, street parking is readily available.

Love this local market with so many cool finds!! Make sure to stop by the Cutting Root Apothecary for unique natural remedies! Also saw some crazy looking mushrooms and other veggies that I had never tried before. Highly recommend!

My go to farmers market! I love the Bloomfield Saturday market. There are always tons of vendors offering fresh produce, flowers, honey, hummus and more. The system for buying includes buying coins or some vendors use direct payment. Either way it's super user friendly and easy. The market gets busy so I try to get there early to avoid long lines in the summer. Highly recommend this Saturday tradition!

I really like this market. We've been able to come here a few times already since moving to the area. It's small enough to not feel overwhelming but has a nice selection of different fresh foods, products, and prepared foods. The fresh produce available is amazing! I appreciate all of the apple varieties. There are a lot of leafy greens, lettuces, cabbages, chicory, etc. Wise county biscuits serving up fresh buttermilk biscuits/sandwiches is super yummy. A stand right by the entrance has good hot cider. We love the mushrooms from Real Fungi LLC. The classic sourdough from the bread vendor is top notch. Sol Patch Garden has really beautiful bouquets of flowers and dried flowers. I'm so happy to see that they have winter hours! Every 1st and 3rd Saturday 11:00am - 2:00pm.

This market is wonderful. There are tons of great vendors with a large variety of things to purchase. We went on a Saturday in December during the winter market and while there weren't as many vendors it was still a great day out. Our toddler loved walking around and looking at all of the beautiful produce. There was tons of street parking directly adjacent to the lot where the market is located. It's a great way to spend a morning with our toddler and we'll definitely be heading back. When you go, get yourself some Wise County Biscuits. You can thank me later :)

My favorite farmers market. The wonderful mix of vendors is amazing; its so much more than just produce. There's a cheese maker, a mushroom guy, homemade pasta, popsicles, cookies and do not get me started on the Appalachia biscuit girls! Seriously the best breakfast out of a booth I've ever had. There are so many choices of farms, whom all bring something unique to the table. I found things I've never heard of before that I just fell in love with. Fairytale eggplant, ground cherries (??), yeah ground cherries. I still don't know what they are but they up my salad game 10 fold. It ends in November so hurry and try it!

Is it possible that I have two new businesses to report on in my beautiful neighborhood of Bloomfield?? Saturday morning started out a bit unusually this week. I awoke to the sound of bagpipes blaring at about 8:50 AM. I know many people find bagpipes to be attractive, I would not be one of those people, however. Curious, i threw on some clothes and wandered toward the source of the racket , and lo-and-behold there was a farmers market starting up in the parking lot across from West Penn Hospital! I wandered in, as the bagpipes continued to squeak and groan, and checked out what was happening. There were approximately 20 to 25 booths set up, or I should say getting set up. It was tiny, but it was the first day, so I guess you have to temper expectations a bit. My recollection of the booths was that there was a few produce stands, a butcher shop, (I think it was djs Butcher shop), the hummus stand, a couple of dessert places, a vegetarian empanada stand, Zekes coffee shop, and a few more. I bought a bag full of fresh produce, some cilantro mint hummus, a cookie, coffee, and an empanada. All in all, a great haul for the day. So happy to see this added to my neighborhood! Looking forward to it getting much larger and opening earlier than 9 o'clock (or at least on time!)!

Great variety of food vendors. Farm fresh goods and humanely sourced meats. Take a cooler with ice!!!

This could be great! I am used to markets that have a lot more options and this was sadly very disappointing. We were gasping for a coffee but there was none, no music, no where to sit and very little produce.

Wow! I'm just sad I lived in pittsburgh for this long without checking out this market. The local produce was absolutely beautiful and I found the prices to be quite fair given the excellent quality (I picked up two apples for a dollar at one booth, and a huge bunch of chinese broccoli and a big beautiful yellow squash for $4 at another. even cheaper than I'd pay at a grocery store!). My boyfriend has been looking for a good quality ham hock for a while to make red beans and rice, and he finally found some at this market! We came on a drizzly cold morning but were happy to sip on zekes coffee to keep warm

This is a small market but there are many great vendors here, so there's something for everyone from baked goods, Mediterranean eats, fresh produce, dairy and meats. Speaking of meat - the meat bus is very impressive - there are several freezers inside for all your meat needs - bacon, chicken, steak, pork chops, you name it. Market runs from 9am to 1pm. One negative is there is limited seating if you want to sit down and eat.

I really like coming here on a Saturday morning. We started to plan our Saturdays around coming bright and early and supporting our neighborhood farmers market. I just wish that there was more. Its such a big lot, and I feel in comparison to a few other neighborhoods that have the space to work with, they use it a little better with more of a variety of vendors.

I stopped here to get some of Leona's Ice Cream sandwiches because I heard she had her cart here. Which by the way, if you haven't tried Leona's, DO IT ASAP. So so so so so so YUMMY. While I was there, I browsed the rest of the market and it was nice to see a wide variety of food vendors. There were plenty of fresh fruit and veggie options, as well as baked goods, wine, and other treats. I was also excited to see Freedom Farms had a stand so I could pick up a dozen of their eggs.

I stop by this market on the weekend it was nice not to big ! We got some Leona's Ice Cream Sandwhiches! You must try they are the best ice cream Sandwhiches ! We also got some farm fresh eggs from Kings Farm and some strawberries !

Small farmer's market with some local niche vendors, including a Zeke's coffee stand. Open from 9 AM-1 PM. Parking is pretty easy to find around the area

I love this place!! I can't believe I didn't know about it till last Saturday! I bought so much vegetables. Sorry I can't remember the vendors names. I bought a ton of corn, bread and butter, beets, hummus, fresh bread and some grass feed beef. YUMMY! People are so sweet here. Bonus, I can walk my dog with out someone chasing me out! woo hoo!
