Cuban Cafe Colada Shop Will Open Inside the First Bloomie’s Department Store, in Virginia | Eater DC

"Set to open in the Mosaic District in Fairfax later this year, the first-ever Bloomie’s is a scaled-down offshoot of Bloomingdale’s that aims to move away from indoor malls and cater to a younger shopper by stocking emerging brands and following online-sales patterns. The store will offer shoppers food and drink options — including Cuban coffee drinks, rum cocktails, croquetas, and pressed sandwiches — and will house a 900-square-foot Colada Shop with its own separate entrance and patio so customers can carry tropical drinks while they shop; bringing in Colada Shop lets Bloomie’s highlight a local brand rather than build its own restaurant." - Gabe Hiatt

Everyone, beware! This store sells fake perfume! I bought perfume there yesterday, and when I got home and opened the box, it was fake. The information on the bottle and the box were different, and the scent wasn't right. The next day, I went to the store to ask for an exchange, but the clerk refused and was extremely rude! They firmly stated that they don't sell fake perfume! They spoke to me as if I had swapped the perfume! Excuse you ?!I will never buy anything from this store again! It's really disappointing!

I picked up an order recently, and my experience was outstanding. The service I received was excellent, and the staff went above and beyond by wrapping the gift for me—such a thoughtful touch! This was the best experience I've had with online shopping pickups.

This spot is compact verse the original Bloomingdales. It’s cute and this visit gets 4 stars for the fact that (Black)security guards was s trying to be inconspicuous (I know he wasn’t checking me out)and moving throughout the store in unison with me. I sat to get a shoe check and realized he was looking directly in my vicinity. His behaviors as unnecessary for the fact that there were other patrons in the store. The two young black gentlemen customer service people were polite and attentive to me as well as the wonderful young lady who greeted me at the door as soon as I walked in.

This review would have sounded like the others if it weren’t for Zena. When I walked in, no one greeted me and I was contemplating staying considering I was there for 10 minutes roughly without anyone acknowledging me. Then Zena started her shift and that is why I am able to leave 5 stars comfortably. She immediately approached me and I thanked her for saying anything because no one had thus far and she mentioned she just got on shift and was willing to help! I tried on several pieces and left with a few, to include perfume and a few travel size goodies given for my sister and I. I even reached out to her that same evening for a pair of jeans and if the store carried them, and she was quick to reply with complete kindness and willing to answer any and all questions I had. I’d return here if Zena were working, she was so great and I look forward to shopping here again in the future! Thanks Zena.

I went into Bloomingdale’s with my friend about a week or so ago to buy some new denim. I ended up not finding anything. I worked with a female sales associate, I cannot remember my name to save my life. She was a short blonde lady with an accent. She was decent enough, but very pushy which didn’t bother me. I understand that you know, she’s trying to make commission I get it, that being said when another sales associate saw me smelling some perfume. She stepped up and asked if I needed any help and I ended up buying perfume which then enraged the other sales associate whom ended up not making a sale because I couldn’t find any denim I liked and this woman proceeded to act incredibly aggressive towards me and threw a sweatshirt at the other sales associate who was ringing me up and said “ It doesn’t matter about my paycheck just ring her up for this. It’s only $60 more”. She then stormed off and started to gossip with one of the other sales associates whom seemed incredibly uncomfortable, listening to this woman complain about a customer. Overall, this encounter was incredibly uncomfortable, especially considering I’ve worked in retail before so I’m usually pretty understanding, but this woman was just so out of line like I felt borderline assaulted. She was so aggressive.

I love this curated version of Bloomingdale’s! Such a chic and beautiful space. Staff was so attentive. I also thought the Cuban coffee spot that’s attached was a great addition! Enjoyed shopping with my girls here.

You would expect more professional staff from a Bloomie’s. I placed a large order and did pick up. The woman who I talked to on the phone and brought my order out just seemed to be really condescending and giggly about my order. Not only that, she brought out a duplicate of one of the items I ordered. I had told her over the phone that I have only ordered a singular of that item, they still brought two out, and she’s really lucky I noticed the double before I left. When I called back for them to retrieve the duplicate, she giggled and said she’d send someone to retrieve it. (Without offering any gratitude.) I guess these are just subtleties of customer service, but typically, you’d expect better service the more you spend.

IF I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE ALL STARS, I WOULD!!! I am beyond disappointed with the service I received from the customer service center and the manager at this location. I recently purchased a pair of boots, which I tried on and walked around in at the store as suggested by the salesperson assisting me. When I got home and had more time to think, I realized the boots were slightly tight. I went back the very next day to return them, only to be rudely dismissed. The staff, including the manager, told me the boots were not in “resellable condition,” despite the fact that I only tried them on as instructed and walked in them briefly at home. What made this experience even worse was the rude and dismissive attitude of the staff. There’s always a way to communicate respectfully, but they were unprofessional and downright disrespectful. On top of the terrible customer service, another major reason why people should avoid this store is the way they treat customers. Every time I’ve been there, I’ve noticed employees and security intensely following people around the store as if they’re thieves. It’s incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I’ve seen this happen to myself and others, and it feels targeted and discriminatory. How can anyone shop comfortably when being constantly watched and treated like a criminal? I’ve spent a lot of money at Bloomingdale’s and used to recommend it to others, but after this experience, I won’t be returning and will be warning my friends about the appalling customer service. Save yourself the frustration and shop elsewhere!!!

Yelp
This Bloomie's is located in the Mosaic District, and it's described as 'a highly curated, ever-evolving store concept' that is 'filled with fresh looks, food and drink and fun experiences.' I came here to pickup an online order that was ready, and there weren't any specific signs or directions posted on where to go; the SAs that were available were huddled in a group, chit-chatting away, and not really trying to provide any type of assistance. I had to literally go through the other side of the store to find another set of SAs who were having a conversation, politely interrupting them, stating that I need help in picking up an order, and also making it a point that no one was readily available. I was then led to another side of the store, where the process was pretty efficient; I like that they have a process set up where you had to show your ID to confirm. Definitely not my favorite Bloomie's location I've been to, so I'm most likely going to try to find another location to have items delivered to. Limited street parking and garage parking is available in the area. +unavailable SAs +located at the Mosaic District +limited street and garage parking available

Yelp
I came in to return an online item and was quickly assisted by Martin. He was nice and helpful. I browsed around a bit but could not find anything I like at the time. They have a little coffee shop on the side which I totally would come back to try it out!!

Yelp
I was sitting in this Bloomies with 2 pairs of shoes that I needed to try on in my hands and it took a good 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged me ... yet they acknowledged and serviced people who arrived after me ... I refused to say anything to anyone and finally someone made eye contact with me and asked if I needed help to which I said clearly (smh). It then took this associate a good 10 minutes to bring the shoes out while other customer's shoes were just flying out the back room ... SIGH. Never again will I shop this Bloomies.

Yelp
Service and help here was stellar! Love the retail offerings here: beauty, fragrance, clothing, shoes, even coffee table books.

Yelp
I and my wife had great experience with associate Phan. She was very supportive to us. Thank you for assisting us. Bloomingdale always gives great advice and service. I recommend if you are in the area and need to pickup some items that you need stop by.

Yelp
It's a smaller Bloomingdale's. Yay despite this they still have the food cafe. That is neat and the customer service is solid. You most likely won't find street parking. Your best bet is the large garage, although so be careful. It is free so that is advantageous. I like but also am bored by the smaller store. The big one at Tysons Center is better. Yet I think this could entice folks back into the fold. One thing about Bloomingdale's is their customer service. Staff know what they are selling, and are polite and driven individuals. Here clothing and colognes aren't the "full monty." Yet if in Mosaic I'll often stop in. If you've figured out the pricing algorithm, you can do well. Sometimes you have to pay a bit more for clothing that will last longer. The same goes for shoes. This is a nice store.

Yelp
Their great service and bright lights work on me every time... I normally don't buy anything at department stores, but I'll either buy something on the spot, or think about it and get it online later. The staff are great. When they opened the store the staff would run around trying to give me water. Now they are still super helpful. Many of their items are.... I wouldn't say "high end" because it's worth the outrageous prices the designers (not Bloomie's) charge, but I can say it's more expensive than the typical clothing store. But honestly after a sale here and there you get what you pay for. They stock high quality items. Even if you don't agree with the $200 tote bag (with a 25% sale here it's actually cheaper)... not that I would ever by one, but it's what the other department stores are selling at face value.

Yelp
Bloomie's in the Mosaic District in Fairfax, Virginia is a great store to check out for name brand apparel and accessories. It's not the largest department store you'll set foot in, but it offers selected items that's sure to please. We visited Bloomie's in the afternoon on a weekday and the place wasn't busy with customers. There was an employee in nearly every part of the store, waiting to assist customers. The layout of the store is all on one level, making it easy to check out the different departments, especially since it's not a very large store. Everything was easily organized by name brand and size. I love how dog friendly Bloomie's is, as they even have an accessories area just for the fur babies. Adjacent to Bloomie's is the Colada Shop for refreshments. For checking out, there's one main area where all customer service needs are taken care of. It'll be nice when Bellevue gets a Bloomie's, which is forthcoming!

Yelp
Cafe inside bloomingdale shop at Fairfax VA Had a desserts and coffee. It was rather expensive and nothing special. Churros came out cold, premade dessert cops with different kind of flavors were interesting, expresso was bitter and couldn't have cappuccino because their coffee machine broke..

Yelp
5/7/22 This place is high end and from what I saw today, none of it is what I myself would wear. I could see this store fitting better at the high end Tyson's Galleria aka Tyson's II. Nevertheless, the employees I met were in high spirits and smiling. The smiling did look fake. A young lady tried to sell me cologne, but the stuff was to powerful and a turn off. The men's clothing isn't what I had in mind for style, but came close on the sweatpants. It was interesting to sed what this shop had to offer even if I did not take a bite from The Garden of Eden. Oh, there is a lingerie section near the fine jewelry area where you can try on different outfits. I must say the clothing styles I saw were not meant for voluptuous women. This might change in time, but not likely. If you want coffee, there is a coffee and snake bar near the front entrance. Maybe one day we will come back here.

Yelp
I'm in my 40s was dressed casual and encountered 4 employees today while browsing. Not one greeted me... I look 10+ years younger, earn minimum 4x the salary of these women. Guessing I was profiled. Last time I shopped there was dressed up and received excellent service from a gorgeous young African AmerIcan woman. Do better Bloomie's! Merchandise was eloquently curated. Not sure why sales associates are sooo snooty. Won't deter me from browsing and purchasing though.

Yelp
The Bloomies concept was very well done! I know this is the first Bloomies and I was blown away by the modern concept. The decor and colada store attachment made me feel like I was transported into a shopping oasis. They were not short in the brands available, however, there is a very limited selection for each brand. The brands are definitely skewed towards a crowd with more disposable income, but it was still nice to walk and enjoy a new kind of shopping experience. Overall: this is like a Blue Mercury with clothes, shoes, perfume, handbags, and lingerie. Staff members were very attentive with each party that came in. I would definitely come back if I wanted to feed my shopping addiction.

Yelp
What an amazing addition to our area! Bloomies is Unique and is a beautiful store with an amazing range of beautiful, stylish, fun shopping options! I love the shoe department and Erica has been such a fantastic help in my shopping experience! Loved her positive energy and knowledge! Best part is, YOU CAN CAN A DRINK AT THE CAFE AND TAKE IT THROUGHOUT THE STORE WHILE YOU SHOP! Genius! Definitely a great way to have a fun girls night, shop and drink! So happy Bloomies finally arrived. I also loved the grand opening event! Love all the events they have at this store!

Yelp
I have been to this store several times and always left buying something. Great selection of brands from athletic to swimwear to clothing for women - the men's section is already pretty good.

Yelp
The zero star is for the older sales clerk with the dark long hair. The wonderful woman I fetched to help my husband was a 5 star employee. We came here with one purpose. To get a big bottle of Creed colone for my husband. Woman ignored us for 5 minutes. Didn't even greet or acknowledged us. I guess she didn't want to wait on a guy in a godzilla tshirt or a heavy set woman with a tattoo. I went to two other clerks and they cheerfully came to our aid. I hope they get commission because that aweful clerk missed a 500 dollar sale.

Yelp
The new Bloomie's has finally opened!! So much hype!! And even though they don't have a petite department, this is a very petite store!! For all the hype, the grand opening wasn't anything special!! They were doing nothing when the store opened at 10 AM. When I went back later on, they had a few people outside, one making balloons, but that was it. That part was kind of disappointing! In the old days, grand openings were so exciting and fun!! I guess companies just don't do that stuff anymore. I didn't see anything that caught my eye during my initial walk-through but I'm sure I'll be back again to check things out more thoroughly. It seems like most people were focused on the Colada shop that opened next to them. I guess it's easier to splurge on a pricey drink than it is on a pricey item of clothing! I'll be very curious to see how they do!!

Yelp
Would rate zero stars if I could. Was followed around the entire time I shopped with my friends. First followed by multiple employees then followed even more intensely and aggressively by the security guard. We felt so uncomfortable that we spoke to an employee about it. We were told it may be because they've had thefts 3 days in a row. But that's not the case. Even after speaking to the employee we were still followed intensely by the security guard. We even split up at one point to see if we would still be followed individually- we were. This is not an exaggeration, I have never experienced anything like this in my life. So much so that I recorded the security guard intensity following soley my group (after he was asked to back off from the employee we spoke to) and a woman coming up to me for the third time asking me if I needed help. How can I comfortably shop when an employee is standing directly behind me watching my every move? It seemed as only my all black group was followed. We were going to buy a few things too but decided not to after our experience. Beware- not brown people friendly, you will be followed and mugged aggressively by the security guard.

Yelp
First of all, the store is wayyyy too trendy. Second, the music was so damn loud, I couldn't hear the sales person. The selection of clothing was terrible. Didn't buy anything and I will not return again.

Yelp
I like walking around the store. It's clean and nice. Very expensive high end fashion. While I was walking around the store 3 or 4 salespeople approached me several times which was very annoying. They are nice but, please !!! Let people walk around and don't bother them until they ask for help! The Colada food place next is great!

Yelp
There are many beautiful clothes and shoes in this store. Staff was nice and professional. They carry many of the brands I love. The issue is that I could not find my size in any brand. I am a tall woman with some hips and a d cup. I wear a large in most sizes. I guess this store caters to small women and young women. If they want to sell to women like myself who are older and have $$ to spend, they might get some larger sizes.

Claire B.

Yelp
I was so excited about this place and ready to come here regularly for some fun shopping! I think the concept is good and the selection is curated very well, if a little sparse. The real issue, however, is the customer service. The manager was beyond rude and unhelpful to me trying to return a pair of boots that were unwearable due to pain after I spent a large amount of money on my first purchase. They were completely unreasonable, and it felt like they just didn't want to do any return. They absolutely did not make me feel like a valued customer. I was so disappointed because I wanted this to be a great relationship, but it turned out so poorly. I am happy to say at least the Bloomingdale's in Tysons corner nearby knows how to better serve customers and value them.
google avatar

Katie Z.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check Bloomie's out since I heard it was opening - as a fan of the 'regular' Bloomingdales, I was definitely intrigued by this concept. It's a clean, bright, well decorated store, with small sections for various designers (each of which was well labeled, which I appreciated). The items for sale here are definitely on the pricier side, even for Bloomingdales, so between that and the (expected) limited selection I feel like this store is geared towards people who can afford to spontaneously drop hundreds/thousands of dollars on a random item that caught their eye (when I make those types of purchases, it's typically something I've had on my mind for a while, so I'd definitely hit the regular Bloomingdales instead to make sure what I'm looking for is in stock). Also, while there were lots of employees walking around, I wasn't greeted or asked if I needed help once, which was disappointing for this type of store. Regardless, I enjoyed my visit and will definitely come back to browse on future trips to Mosaic.
