I have to start by saying I am hugely disappointed in the negative reviews. 1 star because the tone over the phone. 1 star because they were confused as to where the register is. Compassion is important to remember, always, but especially as these experiences expressed were during COVID. People in my opinion in general are doing their best, and Blooming Junction is an 150-year-old farmstead, local family owned, and they have plenty of staff onsite, even during this pandemic to help you. With the regulations and mandates around Covid 2020-current, businesses are often scrambling to change their layouts, or have limitations as to what services they've been able to provide at any given time. Especially last year. I am super confused as to the "no children in store" comments in 2 reviews. My children and I have been frequently Blooming Junction for close to 3 years now, and I don't recall having seen or heard of this policy. In addition, if there was a no child policy in the store at some point it's not like there are walls or doors. The "store" has no walls or doors on the access side where you walk in and the store is small enough It would be so simple to keep an eye on my little. If I did encounter this policy, it was such a non-issue, I don't remember. I would like to add, my kids have been in the store with me on many occasions.
So here's my view on Blooming Junction. I am absolutely in LOVE WITH IT!!!! It's a 25 minute drive from my house, and I make the drive at least a dozen times a year. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable, the plant selections are so thoughtfully taken care of and an enormous variety of annuals, perennials, fruit trees, trees of all sorts, veggie starts, seeds & bulbs, shrubs, natives, roses, I could go on and on forever. The layout of the plants is thoughtful as well. Seasonal annuals in the front. Natives and shade plants back left. Their amazing variety of pots, and the fruit trees in the mid left, on the other side of the structures. Roses, fruit plants, and veggies are at the center.
And the back center & right, my very FAVORITE, the perennials, and grasses.
We love the classes. We've done pickling this year, and over the next couple weekends autumn decorating and more canning of one my favorite things.
The market where you also checkout your items is handy! I grab whatever produce I need while I check out, grab a snack for my for my kiddos if they are in tow, and there's plenty of options of sausages and meat I can grab and take for dinner. Also a nice selection of drinks, dry goods, and alcoholic beverages.
LWe have not done the CSA ourselves, but I have heard great things.
The plants, decor, pots, garden tools, and trellises are better priced then my favorite nurseries inside Portland Proper. The grounds are huge and feel like you're in the middle of the countryside, when in reality your just a few minutes off Hwy 26. I find my time at Blooming Junction to be a relaxing escape.
